The engine bay had also been freshly cleaned, which made everything appear fine at the time of purchase. I reviewed the Carfax before buying, which did show prior valve cover gasket-related repairs, but there was also a gap in service history over the last couple years. To be careful, I also paid for a quick basic pre-purchase inspection. The inspection found a few smaller issues that I was willing to deal with, and because the inspection was done very quickly, no major oil leak was discovered at the time. However, after driving the vehicle for a few more days, I began noticing oil spots underneath the car and signs that it was leaking a significant amount of oil. I then took it to another mechanic for a more thorough inspection and was informed that the vehicle was actively leaking oil from the valve cover gasket area. The mechanic also stated that this appeared to be a pre-existing issue. At that point, it became very difficult for me to believe the dealership was unaware of the issue, especially considering the prior gasket repair history, the freshly cleaned engine bay, and the visible oil buildup underneath the vehicle. I contacted the dealership after discovering the leak, and while they offered a discounted repair through their own mechanic which I dont trust at all, I had to pay out of pocket to fix an issue I specifically asked about before purchasing the vehicle. In my opinion, the situation should have been fully addressed once it became clear the car was leaking oil almost immediately after the sale. My issue is not with buying an older used vehicle that may eventually need repairs. My issue is with being told something that I later found out was not true almost immediately after purchase.

Jim, the owner who saw all other techs were busy, put it on a lift and saw a leak in the front near the connection to the exhaust manifold. Misty ordered the part, finding one for a cost of around $450 when Chevy wanted over $1,200 for factory part. Two o2 sensors attach to this pipe which includes two built in Catalytic Convertors, so I asked them to put in new sensors too. Came back Friday and they put it all in, taking about 75 minutes, which included torching the bolts leading to the second half of the exhaust to break that connection. Total cost was just over $700 after taxes. The owner Jim also mentioned that at 130k miles I should have the transmission fluids and filter changed. Went back today (10/25/2016) and it was done within an hour. Misty runs the desk, and she knows more about cars than most dudes, that's for sure. Super nice staff all around. Jim has owned it for about a month, taking over from Joe who owned it for years. Jim is a super nice guy, all the staff really like him, and he jumps in to help as needed. After I initially bought my truck back and asked them to run it through its paces , they did and said it was running fine, Just a reminder, I had a $5000 repair done two years ago, but I had less than 20,000 miles on the repair. My local mechanic told me that the timing chain tensioner was bleeding oil and that's the noise I heard on the start up. When I returned back the second time to let them what I found out, the owner was belligerent and told me my repair was 2 1/2 years old. I agreed but I also mentioned that it doesn't even have 20,000 miles on the repair and "is that the type of work he's going to stand behind"? He offered me to disassemble the engine and find out what was wrong. I told him it was not a mystery What was wrong? It was the timing chain Tensioner. They denied my request. I stand by what I said about Dick and the service guys. they are great. There's a reason why this owner has many poor reviews. I would never tell anyone not to utilize a business, but I want to say, if you're going here, please beware. My engine now needs to be completely disassembled and I need to spend another $5000 to get back to where I was. The world is not what it used to be
