Do NOT bring your car here. Not only was the original problem not resolved but more issues came after when the mechanic kept our car overnight for a service that should have taken 3-4 hours. He was argumentative, saying he's been doing this 25 years, and explained the cause of our cars issue was due to a part that does not EXISIT on my particular vehicle. I felt totally duped, and inconvenienced. He quoted us one price ($1500 if we needed all 4 cats replaced -- we only have 2, and a ujoint, that he never installed). We decided to only do one of the repairs so he charged us $800 instead. He never told us our parts would be aftermarket, nor did he ask our preference. I ended up disputing the charge with my credit card, and winning. Take a look at their BBB rating and that's all you need to know. I wish I had known sooner read more

2007 E250 Ford Van with 309k miles. I was stuck on I-4 at Hwy 27 on a Sunday night. I looked up Transmission shops in Tampa and these guys had all positive reviews on Yelp! How do you do that in the auto repair business? Well, it's 4 months later and about 4,000 and this baby is running better than ever. It sounds and shifts just like the factory. He did do a rebuild on mine. He may not be the cheapest but do you really want that guy? No, you want the guy that knows what he's doing and has the tools, shop and experience to do it right. Spend your money here and you won't be sorry. 4/4/20 update. Over 25k miles run on the rebuilt transmission and everything is still great. read more

I went to a well known auto service company they did a diagnostic test on my car, I needed a transmission. The customer service was questionable and the price was very expensive. I wanted a second opinion, so I called Transmatics Transmission N Auto Repair. I spoke with the owner Leon, just speaking with him on the phone I know he was a very honest respectful person/businessman. He was very knowledgeable and gave me a better price. To be honest even if it was the same price that I was quoted from the other garage, I would without a doubt take my business to Leon. I went to the garage to speak with Leon and to sign paperwork to start my repairs. He noticed that my mileage was only 69,900. He told me at that point call Nissan because my transmission could be under warranty. Sure enough it was and Nissan will be replacing my transmission without a fee. I was so grateful, I met an angel Leon is such and honest man, I would highly recommend everyone how needs auto repairs to do business with Leon, he is such a wonderful respectful businessman. I was blessed to choose doing business with Transmatics Transmission N Auto Repair, if I did not get my second opinion the first place which again is a well know auto service company and a dishonest company. I would have lost over $6000.00. Thank you so much Leon! You're a class act, it was a pleasure to meet you!!! I wish you nothing but the best!!!!! read more

My son's car stopped moving at a red light yesterday. Being 2000 miles away I had no idea where to tow it to. A quick search showed Transmatics clearly had the best reviews so that's were it went. He called me that afternoon to tell me it needed a $400 repair when I was sure the transmission would have to be replaced/rebuilt. I've been in the car business my entire life and have heard every horror story told. And because of all of this I have some advice...TAKE YOUR CAR TO THEM! read more

Leon let me start off by saying thank you very much. I found you on yelp, you had great reviews and now I see why. I called and explained the problem I was having to Leon and he told me what the problem was told me to drop it off one morning and he'd have it for no more than the day. Sure enough problem was fixed at a great price and I got my truck back the same day. Thank you very much! Good honest guy doing right. Not there to pinch every penny out of you. I highly recommend using Leon and his shop!!! You won't be disappointed! I'll be back for sure if I have any more problems (hopefully not)!!! But if I do I know that I'll be getting quality service at a great price with somebody who deserves the business. Thanks Leon!!! read more

I went here because of their good reviews online after going elsewhere and not feeling satisfied that I was getting a fair and professional estimate . Not only did Leo and his mechanics meet but they far exceeded my expectations. They saved me thousands over another shop claiming that my transmission was "in need of serious repair" but get this.... They even repaired other issues on my vehicle free of charge, as a courtesy... imagine that, someone who fixes something else just because he did not want to see me drive around with an unsafe item on my vehicle. I am more than impressed!!! You guys are amazing. Thanks so much , I will recommend all of my friends to you ... BTW, ONE DAY is all it took!!! They got me fixed up the very next day! read more

I seriously thought I wrote this review earlier. This mechanic is amazing! I have been here twice and will officially call him my new guy. Both times he wasn't about taking your money. He wanted to fix the issue the most cost effective way. Both times he has put my car right on the lift to diagnose the issue. Today I took it to have him look at what was dragging under the car. I scraped it over the weekend (long story) he put it right on the lift and stopped the piece from dragged. He didn't charge me anything he said it was really nothing. I have never had this happen. Seriously, if you want an honest estimate and don't want to feel taken advantage of check them out if you live near. read more

Trustworthy. That's all that matters to me. I took my civic in convinced I had a transmission issue, but Leon double-triple checked and said my transmission was fine. He easily could have ripped me off, or at least tried to like another transmission shop less than a mile away did....won't name names here. Thanks to my man I didn't get ripped off by them. And it's officially been 1 year/15,000 miles since that experience and my civic runs great, no transmission issues whatsoever. read more

They were really helpful and accommodating. They are supposed to close at 1pm on Saturday, but they did the work despite the fact that they had to stay there a bit longer. Great service. read more

Transmatics Transmissions - Front of the shop. - Auto Repair Near Me - Tampa, Florida

After going all over Tampa shopping for the right place to get a new transmission for my Ford Edge, my husband and I made the right choice with Leon at Transmatics, on time, in Monday afternoon out Wednesday afternoon as promised. Fair price, no nonsense here. Honest guys, he tried to save a thousand bucks by saving my old tranny, appreciate the effort. And finally, the BEST Warranty around. My baby is riding smooth as butter, Thank you guys. By the way, the shop is huge and brand new. read more

Our teen's car stopped dead and we suspected the transmission. Trusty Google led us to Leon who immediately connected us with a very efficient tow. Leon was very honest and diligent in solving our problem in the most cost effective manner. Turns out a hose burst and immediately drained all the fluid so we only needed a new hose and fluid and not a new transmission or rebuild. Leon's honesty, knowledge and friendliness will keep us returning again and again with all our vehicle needs. read more

Brought my car up to see if they could fix it they couldn't do I called a tow truck to get my car home and found out they had taken things out of my car and kept it at their shop and even said their mechanic took it out and didn't know who's it was read more

My husband and and I had a couple repairs to our cars done here including a major engine replacement and we couldn't more satisfied with the service provided!!! Leon is AWESOME!!! It's been over a year and the cars still going strong!!! We only go to Leon and anything he doesn't specialize in we only go to who he recommends!! read more

Ladies: It can be so frustrating having to depend on the word of a mechanic when your car is acting up. This is one place you can bring your car and not drive away feeling screwed. I've been bringing my car to Leon for a few years now and he is consistent about finding and fixing the problem and at a fair price. He's one of the rare (from my experiences), honest mechanics out there! read more

This place rocks. My van had transmission trouble and every place I went told me I needed a new transmission. Leon discovered it was a faulty switch and saved me a grand. Even stated if it didn't fix the problem he would eat the cost of the parts and labor for the switch. Saved my Christmas. Honest mechanics are hard to find and they are honest. Can't say enough. Thank you guys. read more

I cannot speak highly enough of Leon. He is honest and knowledgeable and just wants to help you get your car working again. My car was having some transmission problems and we took it to Aamco. They quoted us at least $2500, to pull out the transmission and most likely replace it with a rebuilt one. I wanted to get another quote, so I found Transmatics here on Yelp and saw it had great reviews for honesty, reliability, and realistic prices. I took my car in and Leon immediately hooked it up to his diagnostic equipment. Turns out the code causing the check engine light was actually just due to the transmission fuel temperature sensor. He replaced that, and it was working perfectly again. The transmission itself was completely fine, and if I'd gone with Aamco I'd have had a rebuilt one put in, which generally only last a few years, instead of my perfectly good one! Best part? It cost me less than $300 for the new sensor and the labor. It's been over a month, I drive 70 miles round trip for work each day, and my car is still running perfectly! read more

This place is AMAZING!! They only fixed what was necessary & did it very quickly. Any other shop would've tried to say I needed a full rebuild, but they replaced a gasket & put a new tranny mount on & we were good to go for $150!!! Won't take my vehicles anywhere else. Honesty is crucial in automotive repairs (at least for the owner's wallets!). read more

Leon runs a brilliant operation. The shop clearly gets a lot of action, but it's clean and tidy. He's always multitasking, but giving priority to clients who are present while locating parts & keeping the repairs in process. I had dreaded the cost of a complete transmission replacement, or repair rivaling the cost of replacement in significance. To my relief, the assessment was not as I expected. Leon met with me almost immediately upon arrival--though I did not have an appointment--he provided a prompt evaluation with an appropriate solution for a reasonable cost. The relationship forged from this professional interaction will not be lost on the singular visit, as I am grateful to have a reliable mechanic to keep my automobiles in tune. Kudos Leon! read more

This was a great experience. I am new to town, had a problem with my Tahoe and was worried about where to take it. I lucked into finding Transmatic Transmissions. I thought I knew what the problem was but I was wrong. They found that it was something simple, they fixed it, and I got charged NOTHING! how often does that happen? I will definitely take my car back there again if the need arises. read more

Not only does he do more than just transmission related tasks on vehicles, but he is such an honest person and I could just go in and have a conversation with him, Leon is awesome! Transmatics is my go-to for just about everything. read more

These guys are great. Had my car breakdown in Apollo Beach and he quickly got me towed to the shop. Very helpful and friendly with the service. They were able to get my transmission fixed quickly and for a very reasonable price. He even met me after hours to get my car picked up. Great place I will use from now on read more

I've only had a car in Florida for a year now but Tranmatics has helped me immensely without screwing me over in price or BS I don't need. Highly recommend for quick, high quality service. read more

Leon, at Transmatics, is my go to mechanic for my 2013 Toyota corolla. I have moved to South Florida, but only take my car here as I often visit the Tampa area. I recently had told him I was coming up to Tampa for the weekend and asked if he would be open on Saturday. He told me he would be there. He was there bright and early just to accommodate me. I have experienced untrustworthy mechanics in the past who try to steal your money. Leon is very reasonable with his pricing, and does not do unnecessary work that your car does not actually need. Even since my move, I will continue to come to Leon for my car. If you are looking for a reliable, trustworthy mechanic, Leon is your guy. read more

My transmission went out and needed to other be rebuilt or replaced. Leon was very knowledgeable about the type of transmission I had in my 2004 Nissan Titan 4x4. So went with him on the rebuild. 3250 in repairs. Great no problem got him paid etc. 5 and a half months later trans would not shift. No problem. I will just get it back to Leon and I'm sure he will take care of it. 4 weeks later I get my truck back. He tells me that he left and band adjuster loose. ‍ ok no problem. When I went to pick up the truck immediately when I put the truck in gear it was a hard shift! Gave the benefit of the doubt and drove it home. Truck was stuck in third gear. The very next day I take it back and I am very frustrated at this point. Needed a rental because I needed a way to and from work. He tells me to get a rental and he will take care of it. No problem I did that. Did not get a full size truck I got a standard rental. He calls me and tells me my truck is ready Friday after Wednesday I told him o rented a car till Monday. I tell him I was out of town for work It will have to be Monday I pick up. When I come to pick up he will not give me receipts for the two times after the initial rebuild with what he did to the trans to fix problem. He told me he was only going to pay 100 dollars for my rental after saying he would pay for the rental. This guy Nicole and timed me to death and was disrespectful as hell after admitting that both times was his fault! Leon is a piece of shit mechanic that makes the rest of us look bad. I work in the auto industry and would never in my right mind treat a customer like that! Especially if it was something I did or didn't do!!! read more

Transmatics is not a professional operation and the associates lack customer service skills. The original quote was adjusted last minute after their negligence with accessing that the car was ready to return to me. I have went back to this operation 3 times since first handing over the car and every time their has been an issue that could have been assessed and addressed if professionals were conducting their business. To make matters worse the transmission that was installed lasted only 10 days and another transmission had to be installed. Very poor operation with unqualified leaders. read more

I am new to the area and had yet to find a mechanic that would be honest, reliable and trustworthy. When I got to the shop on Saturday 3/26 I got a good feeling due to the high quality shop that Leon, the owner, keeps. Leon greeted me and spoke with me about the problems my car was having. He was very straightforward about what I would need, the cost of it all, and his opinions. I spoke with a mechanic friend of mine who had assumed the labor/parts would cost far more than what Leon charged me. If you are looking for a mechanic that will not steal your money, and will get the job done, Leon is your man! Many mechanics will give you a handwritten slip of what you had done for the day, but Leon gave me a receipt with a professional heading for his shop, all of the work done and the prices. When you are looking for someone who will take care of your car, you want someone reliable and professional. He runs a good shop and I am happy to say I have found my new mechanic. read more
