I recently began to remodel my home and was replacing my old siding. During this process, I found…read moreout that I had asbestos siding under my aluminum siding and needed to hire an abatement company to remove the siding. I did my due diligence in researching companies and found a company that sounded like it would work the best for my project. On the first day of the job, I went around my home with the crew chief/ team chief and showed him all areas needing extra care. I have new windows and a two-year-old mini-split ductless system on my home that has freon lines running on the outside of the house in plastic covers. The problems began on the second day they were at my house. As requested, I turned off my ductless system for the company to remove the siding around the system. Two hours into the process, I go outside and see that they have broken some of the plastic covers. Instead of unscrewing them, they ripped the covers off the wall snapping the plastic. I called the main office about this. They were understanding and said that the covers would be repaired. The next day I turned on my system, and it no longer is working. I again call the company, and now they are not so friendly and ask how I know it was them that broke it and how do they know if it was broken. I explained that it was working just fine when their employee asked me to turn it off, and after they finished, and I turned it back on, it didn't work. I contacted my ductless system servicing company to come and check the system out. The repairman found that one of my freon lines had been pulled away from the system, and I had no freon in the system. He repaired the line and recharged the system. He also gave me an estimate to repair and replace the covers for the lines. I reached out to the company with all this information and requested reimbursement for the damage. The company responded that they would only pay a portion of the damages, and when I asked that they pay for the complete repair, they would no longer respond to my emails. I am now taking legal action to resolve an issue that I did not cause.

I…read morecontacted 2 mold remediation companies that said they could only not confirm the presence of "organic growth", not mold. This was because only a certified laboratory could confirm actual mold. They recommended that we assume the worst and treat the home for mold. I contacted Puricleanse and learned that if a home has mold, the mold is everywhere, not just where visible. Gail scheduled a reasonably priced "air quality test" the next day and within 72 hours we knew for certain that we in fact did have one type of mold present in the house. The test was also important because it may have shown no hazardous growth was present. If that were the case I would not have had to pay for treatment and I'd have certified proof there was no mold in the house. Rodney came out within 48 hours and completed the remediation treatment by the end of the day. Before Rodney left he conducted another air quality test. That test came back within a few days with a finding of no mold present. I now have proof in hand that my home is certified mold free and a one year warrant from Puricleanse that it will stay that way. Other contractors would have treated only visible areas of growth and I would not know for certain if the mold was totally removed. Gail and Rodney were professional, knowledgeable, and patient when answering all of my questions. They worked very hard to address all my concerns and treat the problem I had in a quick, efficient manner.

My review of 58 Foundations on our basement dig-out project…read more Please be advised that 58 Foundations appears to operate in violation of home improvement regulations in the District of Columbia. Their contracts are legally deficient, as they omit both the salesperson's license number and the project commencement date. Furthermore, the District of Columbia Licensing Board (DCLP) was unable to locate a license for our specific salesperson or any other individual at the firm. It seems they don't have a licensed DC salesperson. Following a ten-month delay, the company proposed a change order that would double the initial project cost. This increase is a direct result of the original salesperson's lack of expertise and professional neglect. Additionally, the company proposed a solution that is illegal under DC regulations, and their internal communication remains highly disorganized. Under District of Columbia law, performing home improvement sales without a proper license or executing contracts without commencement dates and salesperson license numbers may entitle clients to a full refund of the contract price, regardless of work completion. I recommend that any parties engaged with this company review their legal standing regarding these practices. Please be cautious if you decide to challenge this company. Their management called and threatened us claiming that we will run out of money before they do.
