The "issue" he diagnosed wasn't even the actual issue. It was a bad wire, and clogged drain. Not a thermostat. Had we listened to him, we would have paid close to $1,000 and still not have had the answer. The tech was the one "freakin" on his so called diagnosis and pricing. Only call these guys if you want a tech that's doesn't actually care and treats you like a bad mechanic only there for the upsell. Editing to reply to the owner: I have no interest in training your technician how to not be a slime ball. You need to teach your techs how to be honest and more detailed, not just jump to the incorrect conclusion because it's a hot day. I know it was hot. I was the one suffering in my horribly hot house. The thermostat that he said needed replacing is working perfectly well. We had a neighbor with HVAC experience figure out the problem. Pretty bad when someone who left the business 10 years ago was better at the job than your paid tech. Even worse- me and ChatGPT figured out the clogged drain part. And I am not a handy person. If AI can do a better job than your technician- that's saying a whole hell of a lot.

They charge by the hour for the work they do and we thought the final billing was reasonable and as we expected for the time involved from a skilled electrician. The fact that the electrician was such a nice guy was frosting on the cake. We needed two electrical issues cared for on relatively short notice - one involving a faulty smoke detector in a guest bedroom and the other isolating a cooktop circuit from existing kitchen adding an additional GFI. Neither major and the second not a code issue when our custom home was built five years ago but called out in a home inspection as recommended by the inspector as good idea and so we agreed to care for it. In our "past life" in other states where we also had custom homes built, we would have called the electrician who wired the home for the general contractor and they would have been responsive in no time. But in Eagle, the subs who worked for our (miserable experience) builder could care less about follow up after the fact. And so we asked an excellent realtor who her office might recommend to be responsive to care for these things and Alloway it was. In our belief that people who do good work themselves know people who do good work, this turned out to be a top notch recommendation. Alloway was able to have an electrician come out the day after my husband called them. Jerry arrived exactly in the "between X:00 and Y:00" service time window He checked both issues and explained what he would do to correct them. In both cases an additional piece-part was needed and in the case of one which was a new plug and to match the 'designer' plugs already in the kitchen backsplash and not something he had in his truck, he made a trip to a lighting supplier get one so all would be just right at install to coordinate with all the others. Not only did he do a great job, he was courteous and friendly and overall delightful to have in our home. And here I'd like to add a comment to balance out a 1 star review I see for Alloway on Yelp. It is this. Alloway charges by the hour. The other reviewer was unhappy that the electrician took the time to put his boots on and lace them when exiting her home to go to his truck and taking time to unlace the boots and take them off when he entered her house again after returning from his truck. But these guys, the guys in trades of all kinds, are doing that to protect homeowner flooring since work boots get dirty. I guess as a result of that review, Alloway's policy is now that their electricians slip on "protection booties" over their boots inside a home and slip them off when needing to go outside and on again coming in and... When I told Jerry no need for the 'booties' from my point of view, I was completely fine with work boots on the wood floors and I never expect guests to remove their shoes, he said it was company policy. So, thanks to them for taking care with homeowners floors. Another professional touch. But I'd be perfectly happy to pay the time for the couple of minutes max it takes them to put boots on and off too if that's what they preferred. We would use Alloway again...boots on or boots off!

The woman took down all the notes and said it would be 97.00. The technician came and within 2 min said he didn't do that and doesn't have tools etc. ??? What did he think he came to do? Anyway, Demetrios said it wasn't a charge because he didn't do anything and was gone in 5 mins. Then 20mins later we get a bill for the 97.00. When we called back right away, we were told that it couldn't be handled until Monday (this was Sat). First exposure to this company and we were NOT impressed. **Update- To their credit, Sarah did phone back that same day and apologized and said that the invoice now reflects a zero balance. She offered to reschedule later in the week but we found another company and could come out quicker and was cheaper.

Sitting on my fingers, figuratively speaking, for months before posting these comment but seeing…read moreSam M's this morning about his experience with this HVAC company, I think he used the word scam, I feel the need to say we had a similar experience last year. Here is our story. I won't go as far as saying it is a scam. I will say it was a disappointing experience that caused us to lose faith in Ultimate, although to that point they had been our contracted service company for twice a year maintenance inspections. During one of their routine check up visits last year, the technician told my husband that there were serious things wrong and we needed a new unit. He said that a sales guy would be in touch with us to follow up to make selection for a new unit. We were astounded because the unit was less than 10 years old, we have 3 zone heating and cooling in a custom built home home, we are meticulous about maintenance. We heard from the sales guy a day or two later, he came to our home and met with my husband and I listened to the discussion while working on other things. The sales guy was very nice but this is not our first rodeo, as the saying goes, given this is our fourth custom home where HVAC units were installed to serve multiple zones so my husband had a number of good questions and the answers were vague. We had no reason to distrust Ultimate at that point, but with an almost $25K estimate to install a new unit, we needed a second opinion by a qualified HVAC business. So we called another company we used during an emergency after a water leak that required the restoration company to have the HVAC unit to be removed and replaced. We used that company then because Ultimate couldn't fit us in to their schedule. That other HVAC company did a great job during the emergency so we asked them to come look at our unit. They did and issued a clean bill of health. We are loyal customer types and would have stayed with Ultimate forever in the service contract we renewed with them every year for twice yearly check ups on our HVAC. But after that experience, we switched our annual contract over to this other company. I'm going to give them credit for the years they did the the two seasonal checkups years on our HVC. So I'll post 2 stars with that credit in mind. But I don't think Sam M's 1 star is wrong.
