This is my first experience of getting waxed outside of Toronto in Canada, and I was really happy to find such good service in Kingston! The salon was clean, albeit a little bit small. In particular, Maria was really good! She was thorough, clean, kept me distracted (i informed her how sensitive i am in that area), and she accommodated my pain threshold somehow! The price is $50 for a brazilian wax, but students get 15% off so I ended up with a $48 bill, before tip. This is a little bit more expensive than what I'm used to in Toronto, but after the discount it's affordable, and for the quality and time spent I think it's worth it! Will be back here again, and highly recommend it!

The ladies at Lush are fantastic. I've been to three or more nail salons throughout Kingston in the…read morepast year, and this one is my go-to going forward. The lounge is small and intimate, so there aren't going to be a lot of customers crowding your space. Appointments should be booked in advance - they will happily take walk-in's, but it's more likely you'll need to book and come back a little later on, anyway. Besides pedicures, which is what lured me in after a friend recommended them, they offer mani's, waxing, blow-outs, facials and a few other services (all well-detailed on their website). The staff are very friendly and helpful and I really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of the place. I'd absolutely recommend Lush to anyone looking for good nail service in kingston. Prices are reasonable, but do note - Students and Military get awesome discounts, so that should make it even more enticing!

jToday I had an appointment with Thomas at James Brett in their Princess St. location, and had a…read morevery bad experience. I originally went to this location for the first time, in December 2020 to have my roots highlighted. I was advised to wait a couple of months for my roots to grow out further before doing any root highlights, and this was noted on my file. This was good and sensible advice from the very pleasant Kaydian (if I recall her name correctly). I was rebooked for March 4, 2021 with another stylist, who upon my arrival said she was uncomfortable doing the work because she said my hair was severely damaged. She recommended hair treatments and a hair cut, and to re-book in the future. I purchased the recommended Aveda hair products from their salon, and used them for months. Aveda makes great products that I have been using for years. I made another appointment to have my roots highlighted on July 7, 2021. I arrived to be told by Thomas that he couldn't work on my hair because it was very damaged. This is my third time in their Salon since moving to Kingston. All this information was on my file at this Salon, and yet on two subsequent occasions the stylists were uncomfortable working with my hair. I tried to politely explain that all this time-wasting could have been avoided had they merely given me a simple call to discuss the condition of my hair and their reluctance to work on it, before they confirmed a third appointment. By this time, three people (Thomas, the stylist from March, and then also James -- perhaps the owner?), kept telling me repeatedly that my hair was damaged. Since the beginning of the conversation, I kept saying that I completely understood the issue, that they believe my hair is too damaged to work on. So, I tried to give some friendly advice that next time, they should tell customers that they only work on healthy highlighted hair, thereby saving everyone's time and effort. James interrupted me and said to me that there won't be a next time. I find that to be a very arrogant and rude statement to make to a customer, making me feel I wasn't welcome back -- (even though I wasn't thinking of returning after these circumstances). So why did I keep returning? Because I took their advice to re-book after waiting, and then doing their suggested treatments I am very disappointed with my overall experience at this Salon, considering the excellent years of experience that they describe on their website. I believe that we all should be treated with equality and respect, regardless of race, gender, social status, etc. Be humble and helpful. "Being humble means recognizing that we are not on earth to see how important we can become, but to see how much difference we can make in the lives of others" -- Gordon B. Hinkley
