Wow. Went in for wine, a 2 liter of coke and Bacardi. The cashier bagged the coke and Bacardi in one bag so when I picked it up, it felt like the bag might bust. I said, "hey can I grab another bag? It feels like this might break". The cashier says "that bag can hold way more weight than that" and acted really pissed that he had to double bag my purchase. It's a plastic bag!!! This is a review/response to another review. Nikki O, I was there when your husband tried to return his keg shell and began to yell at the poor cashier that was simply following policy, I was still waiting in line when your crazy husband was yelling at the manager who seemed to try to help him and then psychotically threw the keg shell at the guy. I have to say I was happy to see him forcefully removed, if it was me I would have called the cops it was ridiculous! On another note I love TB! Are some of the employees a couple French fries short of a happy meal? Yeah but it is retail but I always find what I need and more, get in and out quickly and they have the best prices hands down. Don't listen to some crazy comments, if you go so often that you can not pick little details you must have a problem and there are other solutions for that than complaining on yelp. read more

Prices are ok, we come here when needing variety without multiple stops. Some items are super over priced. Others can be reasonable if you look hard. They do have a great selection. Everything is organized and easy to find what you need. Overall checkout is ok, can be backed up at times but nothing to complain about. Decent liquor mart. read more

Great prices, especially if you are a club member, HUGE HUGE HUGE selection and tastings at special times. I absolutely love having Total Beverage near buy, I'll drive by a dozen ma and pops (does that make me a bad person) to shop here. 1. Prices - The best. They have fantastic sales, I walk in just to browse sales even when I don't need something 2. Selection - Unbeaten. This place is as big as a warehouse. They carry many micro's including some of my favorites from Dog Fishhead. 3. Staff - Outstanding. They have both wine and beer experts that are very friendly and always helpful. Looking for a mid-range dry white from Germany? They will walk you right to it. Looking for a potent stout to break you from the Guinness rut? They'll point it out. There are plenty of places that are big, but their helpful staff puts them over the top. I spend so much here they send me a rebate! PS I highly recommend their make-your-own-six-pack program. Pick 6 of their single bottle beers and get a discount. Great way to expand your tastes. read more

VISITORS BEWARE: the prices that seem obvious on the stickers are if you are part of their customer rewards card. They asked if we wanted to sign up but but since we were from out of town and didn't want to give them all that info we didn't. Suddenly the savings we thought we were getting was gone, and the check out woman had a serious attitude. She repeated that she'd told us before we should have signed up and the deal was done. I should have read the others experience with customer service. I give it 3 stars because it had a large selection. Really good place for wine and beer. They have lots of liquor also, but we don't buy much, so can't review it. We used to go to Applejack, but Total Beverage is closer so we've started going there and really like it -- just as good a selection and prices as Applejack as far as I'm concerned.. The wine selection is fantastic; prices are very good. They also have the beer produced in Hawaii (that has to stay cooled), so we enjoy that also. At least a couple of times I have had a staff person approach me and ask if I needed help; I responded I didn't, but he said he had some suggestions for alternative wines once I told him what I liked. Have tried his suggestions; like some, not so much others, but what a nice thing for a store to do. Probably never would have tried them if he hadn't suggested them. read more

The selection is not bad, which is why they're getting two stars instead of one. However, the prices are not as advertised. We picked up a twelve pack of beer and a bottle of wine that was supposedly on sale. The cashier asked if we had a card with them, we said we didn't, and she said, "Just so you know," and then mumbled something we couldn't hear. Then, the price rang up almost $10 over what was advertised. We paid it and left because we were in a hurry, which I'm regretting right now, but just FYI, unless you want to give them all your personal information to use however they see fit, you're going to pay ridiculous prices. And they are, I'll add, ridiculous. The sale prices were about average prices around here. I would not have knowingly paid the prices we were charged here. read more

Total Beverage total bullshit. Should be zero! Stopped in this morning as I was in the area. This location is not near where I live so I only stop in when I'm in the area. This time I bought my stand by Jim Beam and asked if they had any Blantons the manager said they had one bottle and I was excited to buy it. He then said we gave a new policy about buying a significant purchase 3 time minimum in a three month period or you can't buy it because you are not a frequent customer. I called bullshit and will never buy from this company again. I will spread the unfair story and campaign against this company. read more

I have been a customer of total beverage for the past 7 years. My wife and spend over $2000/year at this store because of several parties we host during the summer months. We are moving next week and we went in tonight to pick up a bottle of whiskey and a few boxes so we could pack up our home liquor cabinet. We were told by one employee that we could take 4/5 boxes without an issue. We asked when we came in if this was a problem. While I was paying for the $50 bottle of whiskey, My wife started stacking the boxes. All of the sudden, a manager came over told her "you cannot have those boxes as we have thanksgiving coming up". When we told her we where told it was ok by the other employee, she rudely over ruled the employee and started yelling for her. In this day where the customer is right, you would think Total Beverage might take the high road and part with $2.00 to make a customer happy. But I was wrong. read more

I'm very unhappy with Total Beverage in Westminster. It should be noted that I am a frequent shopper there. I tried to purchase an item that is allocated to them and therefore allocated to their customers. When I asked one of the employees if they had an item that is in short supply and allocated to them they said they had but I couldn't purchase it u till mid December since I had purchased an allocated item in the last 30 days. While I continued to shop I got on my phone and called Superior Liquors in Superior to see if they had it and if It was an item that I needed to be a frequent shopper before I could buy it. They said I could buy it right away and that they had 2 bottles on the shelf. Keep in mind that Total Beverage is a much larger store. That said I left the store and Total Beverage lost not only the sale of that item but a much larger purchase of items that I was planning to buy for a dinner party. I guess I'll think twice before I shop at Total Beverage in the future. I hope they will reconsider their policy on how they treat frequent shoppers as to how Superior treats everyone the same regardless of how much you spend. read more

I live out of state and was trying to purchase a local whiskey for my brother for Xmas. You would think that was an easy task in this day of the internet, but local liquor laws do not allow for shipping or deliveries from most liquor stores. I wound up contacting A. D. Laws directly who told me that Total Beverage carried their full line (I was looking for one of their special top shelf bottles), so I gave them a call and was put in touch with a manager named Rick. As it turns out- their complete line of Laws whiskeys was incomplete and they did not carry the Farmer's Select I was looking for. This being the week before Xmas, I began thinking that this gift might not happen in time. Not to worry! Rick sprung into action, got the bottle, fixed the issue that the website didn't show the specific bottle- so I couldn't purchase it and made sure it was shipped (with a personal note even) in time for Xmas delivery! All on his day OFF!!! His Shipping Dept head, Denise, was right on top of what was going on (when I called Rick who was communicating with me via email all day and I found out that he wasn't even working- I was put in touch with Denise who answered the phone using my name (which I hadn't yet given) and was fully aware of the situation). Needless to say- I was very impressed with both the attention and the efficiency that was necessary to make this situation work out for the best and they all did this through their busiest time of year with a virtual smile on their face. So.... if you are EVER near this store- I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you stop in. In this day and age where shopping has gotten so impersonal, a little customer service sure goes a long way... I used to love Total Beverage... no one likes being belittled and that's exactly what they did today. My wife and I spend about 200 to 300 a month there so needless to say we offer a lot of business. we have never had a problem buying alcohol until today. They will never receive our business again. I've never encountered such a rude cashier before. Not only did she lie to us, but she turned us away without being able to speak to a manager. We came up to the cash register and she didn't say hi or anything other than a blunt "i need both of your ID's. Ok, kind of rude, but not a problem, until my ID wouldnt scan. Now, like I said, we go there quiet a bit, not once have they ever scanned my ID. I also offered the paper ID as well because this isn't the first time it's been a pain to scan. If you have a new Colorado ID you know what I mean... We certainly do not look under age... Instead of being nice and polite she was rude and completely an asshole about it. She did not offer to grab a manager, did not want try a different register, or have another employee look at it. Her voice got louder as if she was trying to show everyone else in the store "I'm not going to sell to you!" After we left, we called to speak to a manger and he agreed she was in the wrong but tried to excuse her attitude and behavior by saying "she's new." If you can't train your employees to treat customers with respect then you shouldn't be running a business. read more

I used to work at Total Beverage and have since moved on. I acknowledge that management has changed, and so have many of the original employees who were (most of the time, not mentioning the great prices and selection), the MAIN reason customers came back again and again. For everyone who complains about the Rewards program; calm down. Have you ever been to King Soopers? That's the idea; if you have the card, you save money. You don't even need to have the card on you. It's not that difficult. As for the scanning of everyone's ID? At the risk of sounding "unprofessional", GET OVER IT, PEOPLE. We were REQUIRED to scan EVERY person's ID who looks under 50-60. If we didn't, we lose our job. WWYD? Take it as a compliment, for gosh sakes. I'm sure the 3 seconds you lose of your life are not catastrophic. On another note, the results of your ID being scanned are NOT saved in the system; that procedure is implemented to catch fake ID's, which I have done on several occasions. As for kegs, most of our customers would not understand the way we were required to return and sell kegs and/or taps. I didn't at first. You DO need a receipt if you are not a Rewards member. Coming into that job, the selling and returning of kegs was one of the hardest things for me to remember, because yes, there are a TON of codes to memorize. So just be reasonable and bear with us, please? It's not as simple as you might think. And it's not anyone's fault at the store, NONE of us wrote the procedure. I guess what my overall point is, no matter what day it is, or time of year, or what time of day you come in, these cashiers are doing their VERY best, and especially during Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter, they are stretched to the point of breaking, and for that matter, so are cashiers everywhere. People take their booze VERY seriously, and it mostly feels like if you can't deliver 100% EVERY time, with EVERY customer, and EVERY demand (note; DEMAND, not REQUEST....as in, "Happy Holidays, now give me EXACTLY what I want RIGHT NOW or I WILL cause a scene!"), you as a person, cashier or otherwise, are not worthy of basic human courtesy. To me, that's just not right. To end, how do you think that particular cashier/salesperson/Asst. Manager/other feels when you are putting them down and embarrassing them in front of other customers and their employees, WHEN YOU GET TO GO HOME AND BE WITH YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS, AND THEY ARE STUCK THERE, CONTINUALLY BEING TREATED LIKE TRASH. My only hope with this post is that customers read this and treat those working in retail better in every workplace, and on the flip side, fellow cashiers and retail-workers, keep in mind that you WILL get to go home at some point, and sometimes you just can't please everyone. Keep your chin up. =) Oh yeah, and as for the SKU being on the bottom of the beer cases? If you don't want the 120 pound cashier "shaking up your beer", maybe try putting those big, strong 26 year-old muscles to use instead of standing there watching her struggle to scan it, along with the 7 other cases conveniently stacked on top of each other, while you screw around with your "bro's", all the while complaining about how long it's taking. Last night my sister in law mentioned the Beer Punch card she gave us for Christmas. I remember getting it but kind of forgot we had it. I looked everywhere and I can't find it. I called Kevin at Total Beverage to see how we could prove the purchase and replace the cards. He said there was nothing he could do. Having been a pretty regular customer for years my wife was shopping here Wednesday night, January 16th. Two of the employees were barking at each other on their walkie-talkies across from the register to an adjacent aisle. The surround sound effect startled her and she jumped. Apparently her flinch was cause for suspicion enough that an employee approached her and demanded that he be allowed to search her purse and accused her of shoplifting. She complied fully knowing that she had done nothing wrong. After rifling through her purse and finding no merchandise the employee put his hand on her shoulder and ensured her that he was simply "just doing my job". She later that evening (10pm) called the store asking to speak to the manager and was directed to voicemail where she left a detailed message outlining the incident. This mishap shows that their customer service is not only poor but to the point of breaking the law. There has been no attempt by the management to address this and no return phone call. It's a good thing that I wasn't there with her at the time. This warrants further action and will continue to be pursued. I highly recommend shopping elsewhere. read more

I have had better customer service at the DMV. I went to Total Beverage today to get some beer for a road-trip that I am going on. I got there, selected the beer that I wanted and went to the front. The manager made an announcement that all of the credit card machines were down and that there was an ATM at the Walmart a few blocks north. I asked if they had an alternative way to take cards (such as a scanner or card-carbon-copy) and they said no. I waited for five minutes and then decided to go find the ATM and bring the cash back. When I got back the machines were back up. I was a bit disappointed as I had just paid three dollars to get the cash because of a technical issue with their machines. When I asked if the manager (Nathan) could do something, he looked at Simon (the cashier) and laughed saying, "we don't give discounts for technology are you crazy?" I said I was asking because I had gone out of my way and I wanted to see if he did anything. He then told me "we don't give discounts" and began to get in my face. I had to calm him down and told him I wanted to check because this posed a large inconvenience. He told me that for next time I know not to ask or something similar. I am amazed with the lack of customer service that they provided and I am really not sure this place is where you should spend any money if they do not understand that it is their machines (not technology) as well as their lack of resources that caused this. Having worked in customer service, retail, banking, etc. I might have said I could give you $1.00 or $2.00 off instead and that we value your business. Nope. The manager stomped away. read more
