TenniswithD - whats the deal on adult lessons?!

He told me he runs a business with a few other tennis coaches; he said they have a group of students they work with consistently and often have social get-togethers - I've come to realize none of this is true.  Danai employs college students to provide tennis lessons. I signed up for a package of five lessons; after receiving three, I was told my instructor had a summer internship and was no longer available. It took weeks for Danai to connect me with another coach, and when I checked in, he'd respond with passive-aggressive notes that I needed to "be patient." When he finally found another instructor, he provided the incorrect information to the new instructor, and they didn't show up to the lesson.  I asked for a refund, which Danai said he would honor. It's been over three weeks, and I'm still waiting to receive the refund; each time I check in, I'm told he will get to it. Please do your research before reaching out to this company, you'll find they have no employees, and their website is often down. This is a poorly run, terribly unprofessional business, and I hope my review stops others from being scammed and wasting their time and money.

We are weekend warriors and have taken many tennis lessons and clinics. I have heard it all but I have never had my game broken down so articulately and with clarity. I took advantage of the trial private lesson, I figured why not get a good hit at the very least. I got way more than I bargained. He was able to sniff out life long bad habits and draw out suggestions on the way "back". Unfortunately I am way inland. And also his price tag might be a bit higher than I am used to but I will definitely come in for that occassional fix and take issues to fix to my coach. I would have liked to get this level of coaching as a kid... the story is his business is finding a new home here. Goodluck and hope you find a welcoming venue for your operation here. I am sending the usual suspects in my circles so you do not leave us!

**UIC Swim Classes: A Budget-Friendly Option for Kids**…read more We enrolled in UIC Swim Classes for our 1.5-year-old and found it to be a solid, budget-friendly option. At $22 per session, the classes offer structured swim lessons at a more affordable rate compared to other local options. There is a chill vibe that works great for a 1st learner, but the level of rigor is lower than Goldfish so we switched there once we got off their wait list. Classes are sold in 5 week packages, and reschedules are not typically allowed. The class structure follows a set sequence of exercises. Instructors are friendly, but engagement is inconsistent. While they guide kids through various activities, the level of encouragement and feedback varies, with some instructors mentally checking out after providing initial directions. The UIC facility itself is quite nice - The water is comfortably warm and there are changing areas. Parking is available but paid for a few dollars. Note that your access is restricted to within 15 minutes of class time, so don't go too early. Though there are fewer opportunities for underwater practice and confidence-building dips, the parent/tot classes are primary about getting your kid comfortable in water. Overall, UIC Swim Classes deliver decent value for the price, though parents seeking a more intensive training that will get kids swimming faster may want to explore Goldfish.

The playground equipment looked like it was maintained well or at least BUILT well, didn't notice any major wear n tear on any of it. I didn't know that the building was also part of Sheridan Park, went in to use the men's room. The place was clean and staffed too. Vending machines are on the first floor as well as the stairs to the men and womens locker rooms. Women get a bonus - they have a bathroom in the main floor, us men gotta go downstairs and walk through a labyrinthine maze to find ours. The building also houses a full gym and boxing ring, basketball court and swimming pool. All on separate floors of course. The park has Tennis / Field Hockey courts as well as a baseball/softball field. I can't say much about that except that they looked pretty well kempt and maintained like the rest of the amenities provided. I'd definitely go back and recommend it.

It was my 4th food review of the day, and I was exhausted. What has my life become? Traveling the country on weekends to film myself eating food? If you would have told me in January that this is where I would be... well honestly I would have believed you. I've been on the bike to work every morning repeating "travel, meet cool people, be purpose driven" over and over again everyday for the past year. I asked for this. I thought this review was going one way, but it just hit a sharp drift around a corner. That's why I love this type of stream of consciousness writing. You never know what will pop in your brain. Gotta just let it flow. I am so grateful. I'm traveling, meeting cool people, and have a significant amount of purpose in my life. It's crazy to realize your dreams are coming true. But anyways, I was exhausted eating this chicken that ended up landing at a 7.6/10, but it is an exhaustion of my choosing. For that, I am grateful. I am no stranger to this park because it sits along my bike route headed towards downtown Chicago. And not that long ago I attended my very first Black Lives Matter protest post the death of George Floyd which literally filled the entire park with protesters. Access to parking along its perimeter can be a hit-or-miss solely because of individuals that work nearby utilizing its space to avoid parking fees. I imagine that some may even park then catch CTA Ashland to wherever they may be going as well. On the weekend, I did take notice of open space while cycling by which is probably the best time to visit if you want a spot around its perimeter and not somewhere within the neighborhood. The park is shaped like a barnyard looking at it from a satellite view. And it literally sits right outside of CTA Ashland making it an easy destination to commute to-and-from. Every time I think of this park, I always think of singer R Kelly because his studio/warehouse sits on 219 N. Justine St. not that far from the park. I do love the glimpse of Sears Tower from a distance, and nearby First Baptist Congregational Church which seemingly hovers over the park. Other than encounters with homeless who appear harmless, the location appears to be safe. It does sit within a trafficky area within West Loop on top of it being outside of CTA Ashland as stated. There are an array of outdoor activities available at this park such as tennis, basketball, swimming, football, and baseball which this park does have two baseball diamonds within it. Post my run around the perimeter I did an HIIT (High intensity interval training) workout on the playground which the playground had nice equipment to include a jungle gym which gave me something to think about as far as an unorthodox workout. With most fitness centers closed due to covid-19, we all have to get innovative with our workouts in order to keep in shape and sane until we enter a phase when fitness centers become available. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at Union Park, and would definitely return throughout the week if parking was not so hit-or-miss around its perimeter. ~Blessings~ Thomas G

The park is located in a sort of rundown area, which might make it less comfortable to walk around at night, but I felt perfectly safe in the daylight, and I saw some schoolchildren were playing on the playground. There might have been 1 homeless person in the area at the time, but they didn't bother anyone. There's a baseball field and a lot of space for walking around or jogging. The park is right outside a subway station and within walking distance (although kind of a long walk) of some nice cafés.
