Barely have any machines there's one of each so it makes it nearly impossible to do your workout session in a timely manner, since you have to wait for sometimes 2-3 ppl to use a machine before you can get to it. I happened to move to the suburbs and didn't have a chance to cancel in person so I thought I'd call THEY NEVER ANSWERED THE DAMN PHONE I CALLED LIKE 7-8 times NO ONE PICKED UP THE DAMN PHONE!!! The one time my partner went in person to cancel his membership he was given the run around and was not able to cancel his membership! We just want out of this horrible gym, the staff isn't easy to work with at all! I just want to cancel my membership and they make it nearly impossible! HORRIBLE SERVICE DO NOT PURCHASE MEMBERSHIP!! Update I sent an email to cancel since I moved and they're saying I have to live 25+ miles away from the gym to cancel my membership which is complete and utter bs!! The cancellation process is ridiculous and nearly impossible save yourself the headache AND DONOT GET A MEMBERSHIP HERE THEY MUST BE DOING TERRIBLY FINANCIALLY TO MAKE IT THIS FRICKIN IMPOSSIBLE AND FRUSTRATING TO CANCEL A SIMPLE MEMBERSHIP NOT EVEN AT MY LAST GYM DID I HAVE SUCH A HARD TIME TO CANCEL A MEMBERSHIPPPP

I got checked in and got the lay of the land. From where the locker rooms, the relaxation room to the other amenities they offer. I waited for Tiffany in the relaxation room which had a waterfall on both walls, tea and water and snacks. The massage itself was great. She states face up and massaged my face, neck and scalp - boy did it feel good! After working out my arms and legs, she then went to my back. It ended with another very short neck massage before it was time.

We definitely plan to get lost here for the day and do a little staycation, but not with the accommodations. Enjoying the spa amenities for the day. Now to what I did not enjoy, I did not enjoy the spa having to share, it's pool with the hotel. This is a high price point hotel/ spa experience. I did not appreciate the numerous amount of families that included small children were. The parents absolutely did not discipline, nor attend to their children and their entitled behavior of taking over the entire pool area and even the jacuzzi. I did talk to management whom apologized . But it was very disheartening! This place is too expensive to not have quiet and enjoyable experience from start to finish. I received 20 percent off for my trouble. Also the gratuity is added which is more than 20 percent. But you can ask to customize your own amount. Suggest going during the week for a quite experience!

All solid, new equipment, friendly staff and clientele. 2 very large adjoining workout areas: 1 for free weights and cables; the other for machines, more dumbbells and benches, big turf area, etc. Separate stretching room (with walls and door), with mats, rollers, etc, and 1- to 8-pound weights for light stuff. The deck is 2 feet away, and stretching out there is encouraged, including bringing out ot the matts, etc. Many people take advantage when it's nice, leaving unlimited space. Not much waiting: the usual few choke points: barbell benches and (to a lesser extent) the cablec rossovers (where you need both.) Way more dumbbell benches than most gyms this size, all adjustable to incline/flat. 12-15 cable stations, always a few open. Group classes included, with large spin room and vert big class studio. Pool. Roof deck. Everything included: towels in 3 sizes, including shower size, soap, shampoo, conditioner, hairdryer, etc. Built in combo lockers, so you never bring a lock. I was very happy using trainer Troy Myree. (See below on great offer.) All the other trainers seem excellent (watching them with clients.) Very cleaning including spotless locker room. I'm satisfied enough to commute 1.5 miles with no car. (Bike except very cold winter or wet, then bus.) --- WHEN JOINING OR CONSIDERING: They officially give you 1 free workout, but I asked my sales rep for more to try it at different times, and she happily gave me 3. (I let her know I was definitely joining LVAC or FCC, and wanted to try them both a few times. That was true, and LVAC was an easy call. (About half the price, much better energy and clientele. FCC is over a mile closer to me, but I still picked LVAC.). Take advantage of the 1-time joining offer of 3 personal trainer sessions very cheap. (They offered to anyone for a short window 9 months later.)

Today it was 69° outside, yet 83° on the third floor and probably near 90° on the fourth. For the price of this membership, consistent AC and basic communication shouldn't be too much to ask. If you enjoy workouts that feel like a sauna session and leaving the gym looking like you fell into a pool, this place may be the gym for you.

In a word: terrible. Other words: dirty, broken, rude. Including:…read more - Unsafe infrastructure. Floor literally shakes regularly. If there is a building in Chicago likely to collapse on you, this is it. - Operated for many, many months without a proper license to have their pool open for use. - The pool is constantly leaking into the weight room on the floor below. Every time I work out there is a pile of towels in a different location, buckets catching water from the pool a floor up, areas sequestered off because the ceiling is falling in. - The roof is constantly leaking and instead of what seems like minimal effort to patch the roof, they rig up plastic sheets with clips and place buckets the leaking water flows into in the middle of the track. This is in multiple places and has been in place all winter long. - Generally dirty and gross everywhere. Have never not ever and would not: get in the pool, take a shower, use the sauna, or touch the floor with anything other than the bottom of my shoes. The equipment is disgusting. - All the broken things everywhere. Broken shower doors, broken equipment, broken chairs, broken clocks, broken coat racks. - A nonexistent class program. Every other gym I've been a member at has had decent to awesome group fitness options. Do not come here for that. For starters, they offer almost none. Those that they offer are often cancelled last minute without notice. This place isn't exactly teaming with fit staff... The fitness class spaces are very low quality. - The youth classes are a waste of money. I've paid a lot of money for a lot of different youth classes over the years. This is the only establishment where I asked for a refund for the swimming lessons and my kids begged me to not make them do tennis again. - They brag about the kids camp but it is highly over priced compared to what's out there. The cost initially sounds okay, but then you realize their "full day" is actually a "half day" and to get the rest of the day covered, you have to double the cost. Add to that I've never encountered a youth camp program with poorer communication. Why are we members (for now)? Because they are generally chill around here and we have a boatload of kids. They swim in the gross pool, climb on the shaking outdoor playground, have so far survived the childcare that is pure chaos, and once in awhile I can't find another camp to send my kids to (they complain the whole way there and back and I worry about their safety all day). Recently a new manager-like gal has started roaming the halls scolding families for "health violations" like giving their kids a snack from home. Set aside that anyone with kids understands this is an unreasonable expectation, it's a highly offensive public lashing given the clear health code violations the staff routinely ignore and their patrons have just resolved to deal with. Every time I come here, I see at least a half dozen new member tours in action. Anyone considering joining should do so with eyes wide open. The quality of this gym compares to the Lakeview YMCA, with the Y coming out the clear winner for cleanliness, customer service and cost. It goes without saying, if you don't have kids or like kids this is not the gym for you. Don't complain about the kids, just go to one of the countless other cool gyms where you won't see them. We haven't cancelled our membership yet and I won't bother raising these issues with management because every interaction I've had with them makes it quite clear the bar they've set for themselves is so low. But it's just a matter of time, and I have no intention of wiping down the equipment at an establishment so woefully neglected by the rude people collecting $500 from me every month.

I left Chicago last year, joined Equinox in New York, and triumphantly returned to Chicago for a work trip, picking a hotel as close to this gym as possible. My take is that this location is a loss-leader used to placate business travelers who have multi-club access. It's a mediocre gym with a nice locker room. Great for blowing off steam after work in a largely uncrowded gym if your employer is subsidizing your wildly expensive gym fees. Mine is. Compared to East Bank Club, which costs $235 per month, the Loop Equinox is laughable, and I question whether the three Chicago Equinox locations combined actually stack up to EBC on any measure except sheer convenience or imagined exclusivity. I think what a lot of people miss, and certainly what I missed as I formed my first impressions of Equinox, is that the machines and basically everything else, except the quality of the locker room, is the exact same as any competent gym in a big city. In fact, you could make a compelling case that the overall variety is worse here compared to the downtown FFC locations. I found that the blueprint for the location I frequent in NYC was nearly identical to this location's--it's an ordinary equipment layout that can make it so that one other person wanting to rotate through the machines can impede your workout. If you are living in Chicago reading Yelp reviews as you assess Equinox ($???) vs EBC ($235) vs FFC ($160 all-access), I would put this gym toward the bottom of the list. It's just crazy how normal it is in reality compared to how people (including me) perceive the branding.
