Just recently move to Eugene and was looking for places to have Asian food. A good ramen place was on the top of my list to find. Luckily we found this place and as a bonus it's so close to our new house. Nestled in a nice neighborhood, this place is popular with the locals and for good reasons: the food is good and very reasonably priced. The staff are also super friendly! The space is a bit small and can get packed during the dinner rush so it's best to get there just before. I have tried 3 types of ramen and they are all really good. The broth base is very flavorful with lots of complexity. The noodles are well cooked and have a nice flavor and texture. I would recommend adding extra beans, sprouts, and seaweed to your order. Also highly recommended the gyoza and fried rice, all excellent dishes! So, if you're looking or craving some good quality ramen give this place a try! read more

Toshis is a Eugene classic. I may be wrong but I feel like this was the only ramen place for a while. The dining is an intimate space that gets pretty busy. If it is not your thing to be crammed, you can always do takeout! They also have updated their outdoor dining space. Their service is phenomenal, always kind and efficient. Their broth is rich and garlicky; the noodles are made fresh, and it shows. Aside from ramen, my favorite menu item is the spicy cucumbers. Which is a bit random but they're just so good! Toshi's ramen is the best place in town for ramen! I've actually never had a dab of butter placed in my ramen before until toshi's and now I refuse to eat ramen without butter! Depends on the day and time, there could be a long line but in my opinion it's still worth the wait. The ramen is rich/flavorful and the gyoza is made perfectly! My family and I came here for my birthday lunch, and it was everything I was hoping it would be! The gyoza were spectacular, and the Butter Nin-niku ramen was incredible. All of the staff were very nice and personable, from the person taking our order to the person who brought us our food. It's important to note that this place doesn't serve traditional ramen. When you order, you get to choose a broth and a ramen/topping combo. They also have a few specials, like a cold ramen dish, that you could order. I got the Shio broth and ordered the Corn Nin-Niku ramen. The Shio broth was lighter than what I'm used to and the pepper flavor features prominently. Because of that, I can see why some may say the broth doesn't have that much flavor. However, the ramen I got came with garlic, and I think that really made the difference. The noodles were wavy and a little on the firm side, so if you don't like that, then you might not be into this ramen. Other items in the Corn Nin-Niku I ordered included meat, corn, bean sprouts, and two string beans. I found that last item a little odd, but it didn't make that big of a difference. The cashier was really friendly when they greeted us and had an overall positive vibe, which helped make the experience more enjoyable. While this ramen is definitely different from what you can get in the San Francisco Bay Area, I thought this hit the spot in a new and interesting way. ECO NOTES (Dine-In) Dine-In Dishware: They had reusable bowls. Napkins: Single-use disposable paper napkins in a dispenser at your table. Utensils: Disposable wooden chopsticks. Busy night Monday, 6:30 ish, with good house made ramen noodles and broth. First time for us but you could tell this was a regular haunt for many of the University crowd. We ate there and also ordered a meal to go and were bummed when we got to the hotel and found most of it was rice with about 7 small teriyaki chicken pieces. There were a few other take outs before ours and we wondered if ours was an afterthought, like maybe just scrapings off the grill served with rice. Like our order was forgotten and quickly thrown together. After we accepted the takeout bag we noticed the cook duck out the side door for a break or cig or whatnot. Bummed. Sufficient lighting. Not clean enough cause diners are asked to bus their own tables and no one comes round to wipe the tables... Music is unobtrusive and interesting. Lots of folks jammed up close together at small tables and everyone is basically in each other's face. Like we were almost in the conversation of the couple next to us. Like literally 10 inches away. Toshi's Ramen is a great spot for some cheap but high quality ramen. The service is fast and friendly, and restaurant has tons of parking and a good location. I wish the location was bigger and had more seating, especially during covid times. But, if you don't mind waiting a little for a spot, especially right now because of limited covid seating, a it's a great and classic Eugene spot! They also have vegetarian/vegan options. The menu is sort of a build your own style ramen, though the options are variations on just a few ingredients (corn, butter, garlic) and it would have been nice to see more variety in ramen types and meat options. While I had minimal expectations (seeing in SoCal we have access to amazing ramen and I travel to Japan yearly -except COVID) this shop did not even meet the minimal. A Eugene classic at this point, I've been eating here for I guess a couple decades now (oh gosh, how old am I?) and it never disappoints. It's always busy, but always worth the wait. (As they say, it's "fresh food, not fast food", and it's definitely fresh!) I don't know if they require the staff to be frenetically friendly, but they always are. The fresh ramen is obviously the standout, and there are a lot of options! I usually get the miso base, and the past couple of times I've gotten the wakame, which comes with all my favorite toppings. An order of their ramen for two to three meals, which is great because you don't want it to end.
