We had reservations for 6 people Saturday evening.12/4/2021. On arrival, we were told we had to wait for a free table and could wait in the bar. We waited 40 -45 minutes and remarked as much to the bartender. She passed our remarks on to the owner who stepped into the middle of the bar and in so many words kicked us out!! Asked us to leave! This was totally unwarranted and, frankly, a bit scary. I was the first of our group to leave the premises- I was afraid of this man. The place was packed and loud. I'm glad we didn't get to stay and would NEVER recommend this business to ANYONE!!! Very bad experience! read more

Chongo sad. He went to eat at Tosca and was very disappointed. I had heard this place was decent for the area, so Chongo decided to eat here. When he began his meal, water was brought to me by a waitress. The water smelled of sewage. This is no exaggeration, the water smelled like poop. The meal was at best amateur. Chongo could hear the head chef yelling and cussing at wait staff. He was angry, very angry. He yelled something at a waitress that he signed her paycheck, so she had better start delivering. It was surreal. I think he is a lucky chef to have waitress stay on staff. The meal was a little cold. It came out immediately, so Chongo can't fault the waitress. She was in tears because Chef Kevin blamed her. Chongo sad. Chongo decided to cozy up to the bar. Chongo was met by very nice bartender. Drinks were excellent and she possessed skills. In the end, Chongo can only give this restaurant one banana, and that's only because of bartender. For the price, this place is a rip off, and with poopy water I simply can never return. read more

Ok, so this wasn't planned but I did just leave Tosca's with my buddy Smuda who also just posted a review. We vowed to each leave something this food was that F'NG GOOOOD. It is cooked with love and soul. Chef Kevin took such good care along with server Nick. Both were excellent at what they do. This place should be 5 stars but as they say, you truly can't please everyone. Everything sounded WAY Fancier I swear but we had a giant crab cake, Shishito peppers and a giant bowl of seafood soup in a tomatoey broth with 4 huge amazing crostini's and a TON of different kinds of seafood. Food was unreal. The place has passion oozing from its veins from the chef/owner all the way down. Ok you get the point, there is nothing better around greater Enfield that I know of! What a cute little nook in an unsuspecting area/building! The restaurant holds no more than maybe 50, cozy and lower lighting and perfect for either a date night or a group of friends. We were really happy with our server and his attentiveness to our group as well his knowledge of the menu and wine offerings. We started off with risotto balls and the mushroom appetizer...it was insanely good and packed a lot of flavor (I might pass on the risotto balls next time though). I personally went with the short rib which was GENEROUS - so much so I took the second rib home and turned it into a pasta sauce the next night. It was average-priced, will run you about $100/couple depending upon drinks. Would certainly return. read more

I love Tosca-always have, but please consider switching up the menu. Keep some staples but I'd love to see more homemade pasta dishes and just in general some new things to try. The menu has been the same for a long time. The chef is super talented so it would be fun to try new things. Sometimes we don't go to Tosca because there's nothing left to try. Unfortunately, the main reason for the 1 star, was my wife suffered from serious food poisoning after eating at Tosca. She had the seafood stew. I was prepared to take her to the hospital it was so bad. It hit her about 1 hour after eating there, so we knew it was definitely caused by Tosca. Now for the pre- projectile experience. My meal was sent back because there was mystery "matter" on my plate which even the waitress could not identify. I had the pork chop, with fingerling potatoes. Back it went. Finally I made the mistake of ordering their molten chocolate cake for dessert which had no molten in it, just dry cake? The food poisoning was without question the main event and catalyst for this review. However the additional inconsistencies of Tosca's totaling to over $164. for 2 people just allowed the bad taste to linger in our mouths. One thing I can positively say was that our waitress was very attentive and helpful. Sadly the other strikes overshadowed the good service. read more

Based on one trip here two weeks back. The food here is fantastic. We were started off with an amuse bouche which tasted of olives and went down in one flavorful and interesting bite. I'm not a fan of olives, and I would have ordered that again. We got the crispy risotto balls and the polenta dusted flash fried oysters to start. They were both very satisfying. Risotto balls were very soft inside with a nice bit of flavor from the aioli. The oysters were sweet and warm. I had a filet which was perfectly cooked with some pickled shallots. We can't remember what she got but it was incredibly good. Sadly the propane lamps had run out of gas and we sat outside to enjoy the nice weather so we didn't see much of the great plating after appetizers were served. The real star of the night though, was the creme brulee which they serve in a long dish to get as much caramelized sugar as possible. each spoonful conveniently came with crunch sugar which she loved. The waiter had suggested a great Rose for her which she really enjoyed. I'm definitely planning a return trip and will be taking pictures next time of the wonderful food. read more

In my experience, the town of Suffield is not friendly to outsiders. This meal was no different. The menu boasted some extremely high priced options (be warned-- the lower prices shown are for half size entrees) but our lower priced alternatives were still very good. They bring you (reasonably fresh) bread on a hot stone and pour you some oil and balsamic vinaigrette right at the table, which is a nice touch. The wait staff, unfortunately, was nothing to write home about. They tried to shove us in a cramped corner near the bar at first, and while they weren't outwardly rude to us, I for one felt a bit uncomfortable when they came around. They were not forthcoming with conversation or suggestions, and they had this awkward demeanor about them that one would expect from a 16 year old working her first waitress shift at some greasy spoon. Oh, not to mention one of them was wearing socks and sandals. White socks. Black sandals. I will give her the benefit of the doubt and assume that perhaps her shoes had gotten wet (it was raining that day) and it was all she had. Otherwise I would just cry for not only her fashion sense, but the possible cleanliness issue. In short, I will most likely not return. The food was good, but not worth it. read more

If Einstein ever spent time in Wndsor Locks, I'm certain he'd give this place 5 stars. "Relativity" was something this man did not take for granted. Maybe a tad high on the prices, (Entrees were $30-$40), but the food was decent. It was the long wait for our food that this gets knocked down to a 3 star. We literally waited for 30 min for our entrees to come, and then 30 minutes after we finished them (not after they came), the entrees came. That's a lot of waiting. I understand they probably have a small kitchen and staff given the location, but seriously... we can't go back cause we typically have work at night and we can't spend 3 hours at a meal. As I said though, if you want a nice restaurant sit-down meal in Windsor Locks your options are limited. Other decent options we've found so far are Bears BBQ, a nice Asian place called Mietzu or something, and Tunxis (fried brussel sprouts FTW). If you can bare the wait, higher prices (this is twice the price of the other options) and want "higher-end" American food/have a business dinner, then it's a good place to go. Food Details: - The friend oysters were great as an app, 5 juicy pieces that are nice to share. Best app of the lot. - Calamari was a bit different than usual,with some honey on top to give it a hint of sweetness (some people at our table weren't a fan) - Salad app was forgettable (I literally forgot what was in it... but had some soft crouton things which were kinda gross) - Beet and goat cheese was...well, beat and goat cheese. Layered nicely so it looked like a mini cake. But beet and goat cheese - Mushrooms wrapped in proscutto and cheese - meh - Ribeye was cooked nicely to a medium rare, but I'm not a fan of lathering sauce on top of a good cut of meat; and this came looking like it just ran through Tough Mudder or Spartan Race. - Braised beef - a little overcooked, a could have used more seasoning, but overall good. (seriously, when is anything braised in red wine NOT good?" - *cough*Mac*cough*-and cheese: When you substitute the Mac for Penne, you should probably call it Penne and cheese. It would probably even look more interesting on the menu. Not sure why people seem to like it from other reviews. "Cheese" was more llike an alfredo sauce, but the crunchy breading gave the side a nice constrast. - Duck fat fries were crispsy, if not too crispy/overcooked. I had an opportunity to try Tosca as the result of a business dinner. Since the tab was on my boss, I had the opportunity to try a few appetizers, main dish and desert. We started with calamari, which was fried and somehow caramelized. I had the opportunity as well to try the Wellfleet Oysters and they were amazing! Lastly, we had a bite of antipasto, which was to die for. My meal was the organic salmon and risotto. It was just the right size and cooked perfectly. For desert I tried the lava cake and ice cream. This is not the Chili's version, this was amazing. Tosca makes their own ice cream and I've never tasted anything so wonderful in my life. Let's not forget the service. Our server was wonderful! She made excellent recommendations and did the little things like refill the water glasses without us even knowing. I can't wait for a date night at Tosca with my wife. We came here for a nice dinner with my in laws and will definitely be back. Stumbled on the place mostly because it was halfway between Danbury and Boston and there wasn't much to choose from on the yelp reviews. We were a bit surprised by the prices given the location, but figured why not since most of the other options were mediocre chain restaurants. Unfortunately we weren't too hungry because there were amazing cheese plates passing us on either side right after we ordered. My husband and I both got the salmon, my Mother in law the tuna, and father in law got a steak that was on special. Overall the food was great. The salmon was cooked beautifully for my husband and me and my father in law's steak was cooked perfect medium rare as well. The salmon came with a delicious risotto that wasn't treated as second class as you often find with a risotto ride. The only food issue we had was my MILs tuna that was ordered medium rare (admittedly ordering tuna anything but rare is just asking for issues), but it came out much closer to well done. The only other issue was the restaurant was pretty cold. All in all, this was a great meal and we will definitely head back next time we are meeting someone in this area. read more

Score. This place has crazy good food. The wait staff is excellent, know what's going on with the food. The menu apparently changes every day - all what the chef puts together for the day, which I think is a crazy thing to do but wow do they pull it off. I went during the winter, so didn't get to enjoy outdoor seating, but hear it is an amazing feature. The inside has a bar as well as a small dining room. We sat for dinner, was very impressed with our meals. I could tell others were a little cramped in the small dining room when it got busy - but again, it was winter so nobody was outside. We lucked out and got a corner table. I live close-by, and I will DEFINITELY be returning. Bread was amazing (not something usually to write about - bread before dinner is just bread before dinner. This bread was outstanding) Entrees were amazing (highly recommend mac n cheese and short rib) Dessert portion were on the small side, but delicious. read more

I thought the food was worth 3.5-stars and the service was worth 1.5-stars. Wine list was unimpressive and they were out of pretty much everything on the menu. We selected a wine, which took a while to get to the table, and the waitress had a very hard time evenly pouring out a bottle of wine into 6 glasses. Some people got 3 sips, some got so much they couldn't swirl it in their glass. It felt like an eternity between when the wine was poured and when our order was taken. It felt like another eternity between when the order was taken and when the food came out. Also, we made it pretty clear that if we liked the wine, we would take another bottle. Being that our glasses were empty for 15 minutes before she came by to ask, I think she should have gotten the message. The food I got was actually quite good, almost 4-star good. A couple points were lost in the fact that the sauce was so spicy in my meal that the others agreed it should have been called fra diavolo sauce. However, in the menu it was described as an herb-cream sauce. Granted, I loved the sauce - but this was misleading and it wasn't quite what I was in the mood for. If the sauce was accurately described in the menu, there's a high probability that I would give Tosca 3 stars, but I'm rounding my 2.5 stars down. read more

It's small with an open floor plan so I can see how it can get loud, but with the lights low and candles flickering on the Saturday night I went, everyone was speaking in reasonable tones. The ambiance was perfect. I also loved the food. The bread was delicious. I got a scallops special. Scallops over brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes, and bacon, with a vinegar reduction. I tasted a bit of my husband's short ribs too and it was delicious and tender too. Service was on point, even though she seemed to be new (forgetful and slow describing the specials). Tosca's is a great restaurant in a random building in Suffield. Had I not heard about it from a friend, I would have never made it there. I've been multiple times and have never been disappointed. The waitstaff is friendly and the food is delicious. The tiramisu is probably my favorite item on the menu! The wine selection is quite good, too. If you plan on going here on a traditionally busy night, I would suggest making a reservation (just in case). It never hurts and it will keep you from standing outside the restaurant waiting for the next table to open! read more

Went here for dinner the other night and left very impressed. Tosca is a small, but intimate restaurant with a small bar off to the side. They also have a large deck for outdoor dining when the weather permits. I recommend the braised short rib. It was outstanding. It was accompanied with truffle mac'n'chesse and grilled vegetables. My husband and I wanted a good restaurant for a date night (we don't live in the area) and we saw good reviews here. It definitely didn't disappoint! He had the short rib and I had the chicken and both were delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly: crispy skin and juicy, tender meat. We split the creme brûlée for dessert which was presented in a different way than most places and was very good. We would definitely come back if we were in town! Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because we were there close to closing time and could hear the servers chatting in the bar area. We didn't feel rushed at all but they were a little loud. Delicious! I'm a fan of shrimp scampi and it's always my ultimate test for a restaurant. It can't be too greasy, and this one wasn't. It had capers which I love, and artichokes- an extra unusual treat. My friend had the pasta bolognase which looked and smelled great, and also got a thumbs up. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. Our server recommended a wine for us and she was right on the mark. It's a small place, cozy and intimate. And it was full, so clearly others are in on it. Went here for an overdue Anniversary dinner. Ambiance was quaint, clean and bistro-esque. Server was excellent. Christian was very attentive and knowledgeable. She made the experience wonderful and warm. We were welcomed with a poached tuna salad on profiterole amuse bouche. Delish! We had the risotto balls as an appetizer to share and my husband had 3 shrimp cocktail, which were more than enough. Cocktail sauce on point. We followed with a special, Heirloom Tomato salad with composed watermelon, buratta, basil and crouton in a sherry vinaigrette. Summer on a plate. For our entrees, my husband got the tenderloin, cooked perfectly and excellent accompaniments Cremini mushrooms, onions, an arugula melange and fingerling potatoes. I had the pan seared scallops, Farro, roasted beets, asparagus, with a preserved lemon-chive beure blanc. The scallops were cooked so perfectly, perfect crust with creamy soft middles. I didn't think we could fit dessert, but they had a chocolate coconut pot de cremè. Dairy and gluten free. It was heavenly, light and smooth with a wonderful dew chocolate taste and coconut macaroon garnish. We will definitely be back. Went to this restaurant based on high recommendations from coworkers. Unfortunately, quality and value nowhere near approached the hype. The server mumbled and was very hard to understand. I ordered an item one coworker said was ordered by a member of his party. There was something so chewy and tasteless in the dish (how can you screw up chicken and pasta?), it was frightening. I thought, "maybe they spilled some pork in there or whatever." It was quite gross and could have been a special rodent protein for all I know. It tasted like rotten, old, already served and maybe returned, meat. The add-on salad sounded great and would have been if that too didn't taste like someone spilled a salt shaker into it. One reason I'm reviewing, besides the bad experience, is that I contacted the establishment to report my experience and didn't receive acknowledgment for my effort. So, the server mumbled, the food was bad, the prices way higher than reasonable, and there was no acknowledgment that I reported my disappointing experience. Birthday dinner disappointment. We were looking for a different restaurant to celebrate my birthday. After searching 6 restaurant menus, we chose Tosca for their gnocchi and short rib option (two of my favorites). We made reservations for 5 o'clock and arrived promptly at our time. All 4 of us ordered drinks and several appetizers to celebrate. When the waitress took our dinner choices I was informed there would be a 45 min wait for the short rib. She then suggested to order some salads while we waited. We did that. After the salads arrived, I was then told there would be another 2 hour delay on the short rib and they couldn't hold our table that long, so I would have to choose another entree. I asked if I could just get an order of the gnocchi. I was told no, but I could get it with veal. I was expecting a veal cutlet similar to a veal parmigiana. When the entree arrived I thought I was in "The Flintstones". It came on a long rib bone and was so tough I couldn't eat it. The gnocchi was delicious but only 8 pieces. So that means the short rib was not going to be ready until 8 ?? (By the way they close at 9) Clearly, that meal should not have been on the menu that evening. Needless to say we will not be returning to pay $300.00 for a dinner where one of us left hungry. read more

Delicious food! Appropriate price point for food and service. Very professional and friendly service. The ambiance is a little dark, dated, and drab for my liking, but not terribly so. I have been here twice. Both times I ordered the salmon because it was that freakin good. The place has a good atmosphere. Good music in the background and quint beautiful dining room. Our waitress Jennifer was a delight. The drinks were good and the shot glasses even made the shots smoother. I like sitting at the bar as well as a table. I'll be back next week to try the patio.
