I came here for happy hour (3-6 pm) and didn't want to leave! It's one of my new favorite spots. If…read moreyou like Mexcal and La Condesa, you have to check this one out. All the margaritas on happy hour were great. I also tried the Toro Bravo (watermelon), Chapo Lo-era (prickly pear) and El Malo (Mezcal). We got the papas bravas to start since all employees recommended it them. They were not spicy but very delicious. The sauce on them was a smoked jalapeño aioli. The guacamole was good too and very shareable sizes. We then shared the quesabirrias, vegan ceviche and the prime asada tostaditas. Hands down the best choice was the quesabirria. We even ordered another round. Everything is about $9 on the menu which is well worth the quality and portions. The restaurant is very cute with views of the river. Great vibes! The staff was very attentive and nice. I plan on coming back for more happy hours.

I was really pleased with my visit to Toro Bravo. We tried a variety of items on the menu:…read moreguacamole, chorizo requesón, pork shank, tostada de arrachera, chicken empanadas, cilantro rice, and short ribs. Everything met or exceeded my expectations. The standout dishes for me were the chorizo requesón, cilantro rice, short ribs, and pork shank--each was flavorful and well-executed. The guacamole and tostada were solid and had the classic flavors you'd expect. My toddler especially loved the cilantro rice, tortilla chips, chorizo requesón, and short ribs, which was a big win. The staff were attentive, friendly, and very accommodating. We originally asked to sit outside, but when it got windy, they quickly moved us inside without any hassle. The restaurant also offers open outdoor seating, which is a nice option if you want to enjoy the view on a calmer day.

After a really fun day of day drinking,I found myself looking for something yummy to eat and maybe…read moresober me up a bit-I stumbled upon this little unassuming place located right across the street from Silver Legacy-Los Gallos Taqueria. Upon walking in,I was impressed with the patrons, this was a no frills crowd who looked like they were all in on a secret that this place was going to be a really good foodie spot. This is one of those spots where u walk up and order at the counter and they bring your food out to you.I loved the decor as you can really tell the owners are proud of their Jalisco roots. As an added bonus-I do tend to like taquerias that have pics of the menu items on the walls-always been a good luck charm for me that the place would be pretty good. We ordered a few things-A Super Burrito with Al Pastor($13.50)-it was pretty tasty-way way filling-killed my buzz totally-which I guess was the goal-I'd order it again for sure.We Also got a Shrimp taco($5)My wife is from Jalisco,so kinda picky with her Mexican food but she thought it was pretty tasty-one of the most flavorful tacos she has had in a long time.We also got the 2 enchilada plate with ground beef and chicken($15.50)-This dish came with rice and bean-I really liked the rice quite a bit and beans went well with the chips because of the added cheese on the beans. One thing I didn't love was the fact that you had to pay for chips and salsa-I'm sure I'm just spoiled from all the places that gives those out for free but I guess that's the way it goes-pretty sure it was like $3-no biggie. In closing-if u ever find yourself in Reno and u want something other than the commercial stuff they sell in the casinos-I would highly recommend walking across the street from Silver Legacy and walk into this little hole in the wall hidden gem of a restaurant and enjoy yourself a taste of Jalisco -you won't be disappointed.

Let's be honest. When I'm looking for an out of town Mexican spot, I look for 2 things: A little…read morebit of dinginess and lots of actual Mexicans eating there. Los Gallos covered those two needs perfectly. Located on the main ave across from Circus Circus. Kinda cool pawn shops too but didn't have time to check them out. Walking in, it def has the authentic dinginess that is usually synonymous with authentic tasting food. Lots of handmade signs and pictures of food on the walls. And also lots of pictures from their hometown. It was a Monday afternoon and there were many local Mexican families eating there which is another great sign. Ordering was pretty easy. After doing me best To order in Spanish I realized the lady working there spoke perfect English. Haha. I ordered a shrimp burrito with everything and 3 street tacos all to go. It took a long time for the food to come out. There was a large party order that they were getting ready so I waited a long time. It was so long that I expected them to offer me a free coffee or soda but they didn't. The food finally came and it was a solid 4. The shrimp burrito was tasty and the shrimp was cooked really well. The tacos were good too. I'll def be back next time I'm in Reno.

Given that we are from Jalisco we wanted to try out this location and let me tell you…read more... From the first bite, it's clear this place takes tortas ahogadas seriously. The bread arrives with that perfect crusty exterior and airy interior that holds up beautifully once it's "drowned" in the vibrant, slightly spicy tomato-chile sauce. The pork inside is tender and flavorful, and the balance of acidity, heat, and richness feels fresh rather than heavy. It tastes remarkably close to what you'd find in Jalisco, which makes it feel genuinely authentic rather than a watered-down version for tourists. We also got tacos dorados de papa and those were pretty amazing too. The micheladas and chavelas are just as impressive. They're crisp, well-seasoned, and perfectly chilled, with just the right amount of lime, spice, and salt on the rim. They pair incredibly well with the tortas and make the whole meal feel even more special. On top of the food and drinks, the service really elevates the experience. The staff is attentive, friendly, and clearly proud of what they serve, checking in just enough without hovering. Overall, it's a spot that delivers on flavor, authenticity, and hospitality, making it a standout choice for anyone craving great Mexican comfort food. Will definitely be coming back.

My first time here. I ordered the Chili Rellano a la carte, asking for extra sauce and cheese. I…read morethought I was disappointed when it came because it was so small and the sauce was so thin. But once I tasted it I realized it may be small in size but it is MIGHTY in flavor. Positively delicious. The sauce might be thin but I ended up using a spoon to slurp up every last bit of sauce after the Rellano was finished. So I was NOT at all disappointed in the Rellano. In fact, because I was still hungry I had room for their homemade Flan. I asked for extra sauce if possible. I was very pleased. There are many varieties of flan. I personally prefer a more textured variety that I refer to as Rustic. I would call this variety a very traditional SMOOTH variety. The flavor is wonderful. It was delicious. And NOW I am full and satisfied. This restaurant is at the end of the shopping center. Parking is great. If you find this review helpful please VOTE!
