Pretty darned good buffet, and reasonably priced, too. The diversity of offerings is quite large; in fact, the tables weighted with food occupy nearly half of the restaurant's interior. And that includes a hibachi grill and a sushi section. It's a very casual setting, of course, but very clean (restrooms too), and the staff are friendly, with special thanks to the older gentleman who pointed out the location of the soup -- I was standing next to it -- without snickering. We are told the side selection is more limited at lunch, but we've not tried it at that time of day. Like any buffet, you have to dig around a bit for the best. The bad news is that there's some food here that isn't very good. The good news is that a lot of it is tasty. Let's start with the sushi: fresher than you might imagine, attractively prepared, with a variety of rolls and usually lots of salmon and tuna. The hibachi griller will cook up what you want, and the tables hold lots of seafood, familiar Chinese dishes and a hardcore of American items (think French fries, mac and cheese, etc.) Regrettably the only salad greens are iceberg lettuce pieces, rather unappealing. We especially like the soups (try the Won-ton broth with tiny green onions on top), the sushi (and sashimi), marinated chicken on a stick (really yummy), green beans, squid, and ... well, you get the idea.Let's say it again: it's hit or miss, and that's the way it is at buffets. Search around, however, and we think you'll find what you like. For $13.50 per adult at dinner, we think it's a bargain. We've paid a lot more for less. read more

I used to come to this Buffet all the time and it was the best around. I visited this location today( right now actually) all the food my daughter had was either cold, dried out or chewy. At fist I thought she was just being the picky eater she is but my food was just the same. The Coconut Shrimp was so dried out it actually scratched my throat on the way down. When they first opened I went there a couple times. Decent food, good price. A couple years ago I went. Food was again decent, but they we get the bill... We couldn't believe how expensive it was (for a buffet). I go to the front and I'm looking for the prices, I finally find it next to a protruding wall. A small piece of paper with the prices, basically hidden. I was so upset about this I haven't gone since. This was the superior Chinese buffet at once point. They used to be good but it went down hill really quick. After a few past experiences here, I am greatly disappointed. The food quality isn't what it used to be. It's cheaper foods with less of what wanted and more of a "ehh i'll pass on this." The staff isn't nice and just wants to pay, then get out as fast as possible. The price is 15+$ for dinner. That's ridiculous for the chinese buffet. I walked into the bathroom with it neimg disgusting plus there was a man washing the dishes in the bathroom using hand soap. I am not the one to complain, I usually eat at hole in the wall places but that's such a health hazard. The one by the kmart near downtown has new owners and they stepped their game up. Super disappointed. I heard that this was the best place to go in Torrington and we have tried it THREE times and were just disappointed each time. The lo mien noodles has zero flavor, the rice is always undercooked and cold and then finally the honey chicken was just bad. A "spit it in your napkin" type of bad. Buffets can be hit or miss, and this one is hitting after some some recent changes. Most noticeable of those is definitely the sushi buffet. Fresher, more choices, well stocked. The rest of the food is typical buffet fare, but is actually tasty, well cooked and kept hot when necessary - three things that are sometimes not the case in large-volume establishments. I'd been looking for an AYCE Chinese buffet in the area for some time and finally hopped on Yelp to see what folks thought. Super Chinese Buffet is what rose to the top as the best option. I agree, in this area, they do a great buffet. They have a VERY extensive selection of all the Chinese favorites, plus some of your standard American offerings (mozz sticks, chicken nuggets, pizza, etc). I also like that they have shrimp cocktail (on ice). They seem to be VERY conscious of making sure that the buffet is always clean and there is always someone walking around wiping or stirring or just kind of monitoring the buffet area to ensure it's running smoothly. Drinks were refilled quickly and they were attentive to clearing dishes as needed. Highly recommend for AYCE buffet in the area. read more

My family and I have always counted this restaurant as one of our favorites. Recently, they've revamped the menu, and it seems to us like the change is not for the better. Some of the staples are missing, and the ones that remain, are bland or just don't taste the same anymore. When my wife and I went recently, we both came home and made tracks for the bathroom. I can't say the food was the exact cause of our discomfort, but it sure seemed suspicious. The only high spot with the new menu is the addition of a much wider assortment of sushi, and the new hibachi option. I'm hoping they will amp up the new menu and maybe bring back some of the favorite classics. We will probably try them once more, but if we have a repeat experience, we might not go back. read more

I found a ROACH in the jello! This evening my family and I were having dinner, I noticed something dark in the jello on my plate, I took a closer look, it was a roach! Clear as day, a roach set in the jello! Our server came over to clear out plates and I showed her, she looked, realized what it was, and apologized, then took the plate. A few minutes later she had come with the check ( we had our jackets on and we're ready to go) and they had only deducted two dollars! When my husband went to pay our $55 check at the front and mentioned the roach, the staff replied "I took out $2.00!" And acted as if it was not a big deal. the one time I went here was an excellent experience. I had to go through three times to try almost everything and still missed a few dishes. the bourbon chicken rocked. We went here for lunch to catch a bite to eat on a budget. Since it was a transition between lunch time and dinner time we made sure to tell them we were there for lunch, to which they replied 'Yes'. The food was okay, the egg rolls and beef & broccoli actually tasted a bit weird and some of the fried items were a bit cold. Some of the tongs were completely in the food trays, the handles touching the food. We made the best of our visit and were careful not to take any of the items marked 'For Dinner Only'. When we got our tab we were being charged dinner prices so we quickly told them that there was a mistake made to which they replied that it was dinner now and we have to pay that price. We explained to them that we had made sure we were having lunch, that they had already affirmed we were having lunch, and we were careful to avoid all foods marked as dinner only. And, really, we did not cost them any more money than what lunch would have been anyways as we did not even get to eat any dinner menu but still have to pay the expensive dinner prices. I was a bit surprised at how unbending these people were! This was clearly their misunderstanding, and they demanded that we pay for it. We explained everything to them, it did not matter, they flatly refused to correct the problem! I decided I would pay this bill, but told them how bad for business this was. I'm not much on Chinese buffets to begin with, but some are better than others, and with so many choices, you can usually find enough good things to satisfy yourself. There are plenty of choices here, and lots of thing look really good, but they all seem to disappoint. It's in a convenient location for me, which is why I've been there like 5 times despite my poor experiences. Every time, though, nothing on my plate really rose above mediocre. read more

Been coming here for years, food is usually good. New owners or management in past year or so. Try to go when it's busy and the food gets turned over a lot - otherwise it's cold.
