Torrid is my go-to for clothes, especially since they have such a great plus-size selection. The last few years I have mostly shopped online, but today I had to get a quick dress for an upcoming event. Upon entering, I was warmly greeted by two enthusiastic women who asked how they could help me. I told them why I needed the dress and what I wanted. They both kindly stopped what they were doing to assist me, offering various options and thoughtfully preparing my dressing room with the chosen items. I've always loved their dressing rooms; they're so spacious and beautifully decorated. The best part is having a fan option. Dressing rooms get so stuffy, so that's really thoughtful. Unfortunately, I was unable to locate the item I was seeking, and my limited time prevented me from searching for other items. However, both Gabi and her manager, Nicki, went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and want to return in the near future. I really hope they're there next time I shop, they were both awesome. The sales staff is amazing and so helpful. They really are the best part of the store. The clothing is fashionable but pricey especially when it falls apart after just a few months. I purchased pants and a shirt at the end of August - at the cost of $60 each - and they already have ripped and are unrepairable. It is disheartening to spend so much money on clothes and not be able to get more than 2 months usage out of them. The clothes at other stores are more affordable and last longer. read more

If I could subtract stars I would! I ordered five tops as presents for my mom's caregiver. I paid with PayPal where I have a large credit balance. The transaction sailed through and I got a confirmation. The next day I received a terse email stating that my order was canceled due to MY credit issues. I called. The gentleman at Torrid assured me that it would be taken care of and gave me a 5% credit for "their error", but still I was on the phone for 40 minutes to verify with PayPal that it was fine to ship to a different address than mine. Next day, I received an email that the order was canceled​ again due to problems with my credit! I called again. I gave them my VISA and stayed on the phone for the "bank verification" a process that took 55 minutes. Chase agreed that I often ordered online and shipped to other addresses and approved the charges on the spot. Next day--order canceled​--my bad credit! Twice I was on the line (once with PayPal where I had a larger-than-the-charges-credit-balance) and once with Chase Bank for my VISA. Both approved on the spot! I asked for a supervisor. I got the same runaround​ but she inadvertently​​ cut me off. That time I was on the phone or on hold for 90 minutes. I called back, fuming by now. I was connected to her supervisor who was kind enough to see what the REAL problem was. The items I ordered were out-of-stock!!! It seems that​ the website is not updated. Would it have been too much for anyone in the many hours of my life that I will never get back to have checked this? Do NOT order online if you want anything resembling customer service! read more

I don't want to say that they're anything like Hot Topic, because really it's not. I know it's a sister-store, but in reality they just sell cute clothes for people that wear real sizes. I wear a size 11 shoe. I HATE shopping for shoes. Torrid makes sense, they sell large clothes, accessories (like belts), and shoes. Many of the stores in the mall carry sizes just shy of what I wear. Which makes me feel like a cow. I do find the sizing at Torrid a little strange. I believe the pant sizes start at 11? but they call it a 1, then a 2 and blah blah. It's not the "standard" sizing that we're all used to. The selection here is very good. All the clothes are very trendy, a nice respite from the saggy bulky clothes you can get at "plus size" stores. Great store with less than adequate customer service. I had an armful of clothes and wasn't given any assistance at all. I had to ask to use the dressing room and wasn't offered any assistance in finding items or holding a dressing room. The clothes are for plus sized women and they are really cute. I got a dress for $65 and a pair of pants for close to the same, for the prices there should have better customer service. read more

Does anyone else get really excited about something they see at Torrid, then when you finally have the ability to make that long awaited purchase you are left DISAPPOINTED? Saw Pink & Navy Paisley Dot High Heel Sandals and fell in LOVE with them, I couldn't wait to own them. Finally, I made the purchase. Size 8.5, they arrive and well they fit like an 11. Thought maybe I got the wrong size, but no - correct size. Measured the shoe toe to heel, it measures 10.5". Tried to return them because they are too big and that isn't my fault....but nope, they are "final sale" they can't take them back. Beyond that, the sales person explained to me "the description states they fit true to size so they fit true to size"...umm sales lady really? I moved my feet around to try to get them to fit better, but I would break my neck if I attempted to wear these anywhere. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT!! time to find a new shopping place that cares about its customers. What a waste of money. read more

I tried working here and was waiting for over a month for my first day... The manager of the store, Christi, is the most unprofessional person I have ever tried to work with in my entire life. Don't ask questions, she won't answer them. The employees are very immature and childish. When I went into the store to shop while still waiting to work my first day they laughed at me... It's so disappointing because I've been shopping here for years and I will no longer be going in. They have ruined Torrid for me. Went in last night with my wife so she could get some new boots. She looked on the shelf but couldn't find her size so we asked the staff. The employee was extremely nice and went and looked in the back. She found the size but not the color so when the staff member from the front heard they didn't have the color she came and grabbed the box to look online so the other employee could stay with us. We ended up leaving with 3 pairs of boots, and a new purse for her. After the headache that i dealt with last Christmas with Torrid online i never wanted to shop here again but the great customer service has helped me feel better about shopping here. I was going out of my way to shop anywhere but Torrid but now Torrid will be my first stop. Great customer service goes a long way and those two employees were perfect examples of that. read more

I must say I was completely disappointed with the customer service today. I went in with my husband and my daughter and yes I was greeted, that was pretty much it. The young lady and her associate went back to straightening the jeans on the wall to the right of the store. Didn't announce deals on jeans, tops, lingerie etc. I had to ask my husband to ask while I was in the fitting room. Upon checking out I was flipping through the credit card applications as well as the membership card... Nothing. She didn't even ask if I wanted apply. Which was annoying because I spent well over $160.00 today and could've earned points and save a percentage considering the jeans aren't cheap. I love this store and I love the clothes selection. They have really cute clothes. The salesgirls are always super friendly. But sadly the prices keep me far from here! Rarely do they have a decent sale, let alone a coupon for a discount. I found out that they are owned by none other than Hot Topic, hence the high prices. The clearance rack is hit or miss, mainly miss cause they never have exactly what you're looking for. I love all the chotckies they carry here, cute wallets and what not. The staff is friendly and helpful. They will check all over the store for your size, or order online. They give a 10% discount for military. Will also help put an outfit together. My only complaint is the store is too small! They have everything stacked on top of everything you can't see what they have. Everyone that works here knows me by name when I walk in! I shop here ALL the time! The staff is so friendly and helpful, a huge reason why I keep coming back, and coming back frequently. All the clothes here fit me so well and have a wide range of different styles so not to cater to any one style. I can't tell you how much I love the ladies that work here though and how much I enjoy being a size "2" instead of a sIze 18. I don't care about my size it's how I feel in it, but being a size 2 makes me feel so good even though it's just a dumb number lol. I also love their accessories and shoes! the store manager should speak to the assistant managers about customer service. I went in ON my birthday just because my friends and I were in the area, so I didn't have my b day credit with me. one of the managers was extremely rude when I asked if they could look it up so I asked for the store manager. I was referred to the other manager on duty who was much more friendly and did exactly what I asked. I have been a loyal customer of Torrid for many years. I loved the fact that I could go in and find things to wear to work or on stage when I had performances. I have a funky, artsy style and Torrid has never disappointed...until now. The stores are always so crammed with clothes that at times it is hard to see everything. Which isn't the problem. Now they have started carrying 10s and 12s and 00 sizes. People who are that size can shop in any store in the mall and find cute things in their size. I kind of feel like Torrid is ignoring all of it's loyal customers who have helped build their brand and kept it going all of these years. On top of that the collections are downright frumpy and boring for the most part. They used to carry lots of different hemlines on shirts like shark bite and hanker Chief and high low with lots of ruffles and lace. These different cuts work for different shapes of plus size ladies. Now it is all so square shaped and seems to be aimed at the smaller sized women. For the first time in many years I have a zero balance on my Torrid card because I have found absolutely nothing the last eight or so times I have been in there. I am hoping that someone from Torrid sees this and takes it to heart. My wardrobe is seriously lacking these days. I miss the old Torrid buyers. read more

They are great at helping you pick out outfits and give honest opinions on how an outfit looks on you. Clothing shopping can be quite a traumatic experience for girls, but these ladies make it a good experience. The clothing can be a bit pricy, so sign up for the emails and find out about in-store sales and shop during the times they are offering haute cash rewards! Also, shop online and get free store shipping. And if you fall in love with something and they are out of your size, thy will find it at another local store for pickup or will have it shipped to your house from the online store. And best yet, many of their jeans come in a variety of lengths, from extra short to extra tall! Today I went in to buy an outfit and wanted to look around in detail since I had nothing in mind and just wanted to look to see what to get. Well I had to leave because the employees kept following me as if I was going to run out the whole mall with something from their store. I could see why people at target or Wal-Mart would feel that way and I understand but the mall????
