Gabriel and his crew completed a job for me over a year ago...but they never actually completed it…read more In fact, I wrote another review about halfway through the project on his old landscaping site, Compass Landscaping and have filed a civil case, despite NUMEROUS requests to resolve the small, but expensive, remaining issues. Gabriel's crew is wonderful and hard working. They did a great job on the hardscaping, though there are still issues with drainage on a patio. Gabriel left my parents and myself hanging. There was an entire corner of the lawn that they never returned to sod, several of the large expensive plants we bought got sick during warrantee and Gabriel did not extend the courtesy of getting back in touch with us to replace them, and the same thing happened with a large red oak, which is now dying. The watering system was not maintainer or properly set up, corners were cut and the lack of communication surrounding something that is EASILY remedied is the most frustrating part. I have written and called no less than ten times, but it appears he is too busy to finalize a $120,000+ project that he said he would over a year ago.

Initially we contracted with another company who flaked out after 3 weeks of delays in starting. In hindsight this was probably the best thing that could have happened. I got Pedro's contact information from a neighbor who used his services and made a call. I spoke with Dee and from that conversation I knew this was the right company. She mentioned several considerations about the installation that the other company didn't bring up or simply didn't know to bring up. Many of Dee's suggestions made perfect sense and the job is much nicer for her suggestions. Pedro came over to give us a solid quote and we discussed several details about how we wanted to job to look and he was able the start the next day. Pedro was extremely courteous and right on time. Both he and Dee were great with communicating via text and email and were very reasonable on their prices. Pedro was very detail oriented and diligent about his work. I was a first-time homeowner and fell for the classic "We'll give you a free roof inspection"…read morepitch. I ended up hiring Priority Roofing, a company with hundreds of 5-star Google reviews. What could possibly go wrong? The answer: plenty. My new roof leaked after the very first rain. My insurance adjuster denied the claim because the leak was caused by faulty chimney flashing/shingle installation, making it a workmanship issue that should have been covered under the roofer's warranty. When I contacted Priority Roofing, they flat-out refused to take responsibility. Two employees came out, poured water over the roof for a few minutes, declared everything was fine, and left. Since they refused to honor their warranty, I hired another contractor at my own expense. Sure enough, he found that Priority Roofing's installation was indeed the cause of the leak. I had to pay out of pocket to repair damage that never should have happened in the first place. I thought the nightmare was over. Four years later, my roof leaked again. This time, I discovered that Priority Roofing had reused my old roof vents instead of replacing them during the roof installation. The aging vent seals eventually failed, causing another leak. Rather than go through another frustrating warranty battle with Priority Roofing--with no confidence they would fix the problem correctly anyway--I did extensive research and found Reyes Roofing. I worked with Vincente, and the experience was everything I wish the first one had been. Vincente and his crew replaced the old vents that should have been replaced from the beginning, sealed every vulnerable area, and thoroughly addressed the issues left behind by Priority Roofing. They were professional, honest, and meticulous throughout the process. As an added bonus, their price was significantly lower than the other roofing companies I contacted. One was privacy, on front, ours was iron on front and it's about an acre the had to fence off on 3 sides with chain link & the other neighbor only had the posts put in because our ground apparently is not made of dirt, just rock and unlike us, that neighbor has some great carpentry skills. We also had several stone columns. The masonry guys came on the date scheduled & on time. We were amazed at how quickly they went up. Employees were very nice & gave us our privacy. No slacking off. Very respectful. It was near the holidays so it took a little while before the front went up. went But they also had to order additional parts for a change our neighbor made. They came earlier than scheduled. Those employees were also great. Never saw them even turn to look at our home as they walked back and forth through the back (our many windows have no curtains). They came on time, never saw them slack off. I don't think I even saw them leave for lunch. When they were done for the day, they cleaned up. The foreman even noticed some materials we didn't order that would help keep the fence from moving around. So it was ordered & they installed same day. Not only that, the only winter day we had in texas happened to be the last day they had to finish. He asked if they coukd work on sunday & we said of course. But he told us they might wait until winter was over, on Monday. But the next day on Sunday, when it was crazy cold, they showed up and by the end of the day they were done! Foreman came to ask if it was all good. And then they left on their merry way. Our emails with questions were answered promptly and usually the same day. The fence looked great. A couple weeks later, maybe earlier, we received another email to check in on us & find out if there was anything that we needed. Highly recommend.

I'm writing this review for my overall experience dealing with Northwest Fence & Iron and not for…read morethe finished product. Everything went fairly smoothly up until the day of the installation of my iron fence surrounding my home. A few days prior to the scheduled installation, I asked the representative if there would be someone supervising the installation who speaks fluent English. He said there wouldn't be anyone supervising because his wife was scheduled to go into labor on that day. He reassured me there would be no issues and the workers would know EXACTLY what they needed to do. I reiterated to him how important it is they install the iron fence low enough to prevent my dog from digging a hole escaping. I reluctantly agreed to proceed with the installation based on his reassurances. The day of the installation, the workers showed up at my door and the first thing one of the workers did was hand me a cell ph and someone with Northwest told me, "Can you tell them where to install the fence" I told him I already went over all this with my rep and I do not feel confident communicating with workers who do not speak English. I ended the call and immediately called the rep and told him that someone needs to get down here and communicate everything we had already went over. The rep came down and told the workers where to install everything. I asked him who I should contact at the office if there is a problem and reminded him what he told me about the workers knowing exactly what they need to do. He responded by saying, "I thought it wasn't an issue to you that they don't speak English?" This was NOT what I stated and told him I only agreed to allow the installation to proceed because of his reassurance they would not need any additional guidance during the installation. Sure enough, after they got started prepping the ground and installing the fence, the gate was being installed too high, leaving a large gap at the bottom, and I tried to communicate this with the workers with no luck. I told the workers to stop completely and, at this point, I was really starting to lose my patience. I immediately called the Northwest office and told them the fence was being installed too high from the ground and how they needed to send someone over immediately or I would be sending the workers away for the day. They sent someone down about 30 minutes later and he communicated with the workers, the proper way to install the fence. I asked the supervisor to stick around to ensure there were no more issues. They 'completed' the installation and they had forgotten to attach adhesive to the caps on the fence posts as well as failing to install the latch on the side gate. They had to return two separate times, requiring me to take time out of my day to be here, to complete the gate lock installation and attach the caps properly. I also started finding pieces of sharp metal in my lawn they failed to clean up which posed a major safety hazard for our family and dog. All of this nonsense could have been avoided if the representative assigned to my project would have scheduled the installation at a time when he could have been present to supervise and inspect the work being done by the subcontractors they hired...

I contracted Jorge for an over $4000 job and had MANY issues with Jorge. Beware!…read more Prior to contracting Jorge, I was very unfortunate to miss the following preparation steps: 1. ENJOY THE WORST POSSIBLE RESULTS Check the pictures of the final results of the contractor's sodding work. Make sure you want the same. When Jorge did the sodding in February the sod looked dead (cause most likely it was). Jorge assured me it is "hibernated" and will recover shortly. Obviously, it never happened and, two months later, most of the grass is just as dead as it was at the moment of sodding (see the pics). It's remarkable that Jorge calls it a good work! 2. PREPARE TO GET DAMAGED AND WORK INCOMPLETE He was resodding my front yard. He didn't finish his job, left garbage and damaged the front yard appearance of my neighbor's property so I got a reasonable complaint from the neighbor demanding me to fix it. Quoting my neighbor: "The landscape crew that re-sodded your front yard left a strip of plowed up soil/mud between your property and mine. It looks terrible, for both properties." On my request to finish the job and fix the damage, Jorge stated that he "miscalculated" the costs and now wouldn't fix the damage without extra payment of $400. (See the snapshot) Unfortunataly, I have already paid Jorge in full by that time since he pressed me a lot asking to be considerate and enable him to pay his people. GET READY TO BE PRESSED FOR FULL PRE-PAYMENT Further, he ignored my messages and only agreed to do it after multiple calls and messages and after I promised to remove a negative review. 3. GET READY TO SEE UNEXPLAINED CHARGES ON THE ESTIMATE Jorge added items on the estimate that were just meant to increase the bill without discussion and explanation. Thus, I got $300 "Overhead" added to the estimate (see the picture). He "clarified" it was added because my project was bigger than usual. Note, he didn't provide any discount because the project was big. On the opposite he tried to charge me more! 4. PREPARE TO GET THINGS SUDDENLY BROKEN AND TO BE CHARGED TO FIX THEM I had an incident when my irrigation very unexpectaedly got pipes broken in 3 different places and 3 sprinklers suddently got broken ONE WEEK (!) following the irrigation fix by Jorge. Since the rest of the landscaping project depended on the irrigation I was forced to get it repaired immediately. The circumstances in which the above got broken were very strange and unlikely. 5. PREPARE TO BE CHARGE EXCEEDINGLY IF THE CONTRACTOR IDENTIFIES YOU BADLY NEED THE PROJECT DONE To fix the broken irrigation pipes (that unexpectedly got broken one week after being fixed by Jorge) he orignally tried to charge me $450 per pipe. So, $1350 to repair 3 small plastic pipes (see pic.). 6. GET READY TO THE ESTIMAES TO GET INCREASED ~X3 TIMES BECAUSE OF "MISTAKES" In my understanding, Jorge is trying to take advantage of the situation to bill you to the max and his quote are also rapidly increasing. So, for example, in the above incident, he first quoted me $450. Then, he notified me of a "quoting mistake" demanding $1350 probably taking advantage that I wasn't present fisically on the spot and that the project was urgent. 7. GET READY TO NEGOTIATE OR BE OVERCHARGED and paying ~3 times more. Now, when I told him I wasn't able to pay this much he retracted back to $550. 8. TAX EVASION Jorge apparently tried to avade taxation on his income. Thus he is urging you to pay him in cash or in personal checks. Since Jorge demanded it, I paid him in personal checks and he never provided a receipt. 9. PREPARE FOR COMPLAINTS FROM YOUR NEIGHBORS Jorge left garbage on the neighbors lawn and the bricks uncollected (see the pictures). (I can also provide snapshots of messages from my contractor). Jorge only agreed to collect the garbage after multiple calls and messages and lots of time spent on my part. Even then, his original proposal was to leave the garbage sacks uncollected for over a week on neighbors lawn
