The particular stone used for the box ties into the chimney so it was important that we use the same style. We had a sad, crumbling retaining wall made probably 40+ years ago with a patio that was not functional due to loose and uneven stones. We just finished a project in the backyard. After interviewing several contractors we went with Senon's. They gave us the best rate on a slab. I believe Yelp is an excellent medium to read reviews because you can see many options and photos. Here are a few positives and negatives about our experience to help you make your decision. Positive: the owner is always in contact with you, he always returns phone calls, he always will text back, his crew is very respectful, the crew always cleaned up, no mess was left at the end of the project, it was easy to show him pictures of what you had in mind, pricing on most items was fair, he corrected mistakes on flower box and border. Negatives: he offered to do a stain on our slab for free and patch corner of foundation for free. I asked him to give me a quote on how much it would be so we could decide and was told if there were extra materials he would do it for free. We said ok. At the end of the project the only two issues with that is we were billed for 9 slabs of stone and received 8. Don't know where our other stone is and don't expect to get it. We were billed for tree stump removal and it was left on our property. We were told our slab would be poured with a concrete truck. We wanted this to avoid issues. The day the slab was poured it was done by hand. We were never told until we asked what happened to the concrete truck. This should have been communicated so we could have hired another contractor for slab. Several issues with materials not being in on day scheduled to work which caused project to take longer and having to make corrections. I have included photos of stucco/sealer that had problems that we addressed and he did come back and fix. We had a problem with our slab having uneven spots and he did come back and pour another layer. There was a black stain after second layer that luckily we could hid with our stain. There are still imperfections on the top layer but at this point we will correct it down the road. I would highly recommend only having a slab poured by a truck and confirm the truck 2 days before. I would also recommend doing any work yourself to save time and money. If I had to do it over again, I would have filled the second planter box with dirt myself and bought the topsoil myself. To help the crew along I spent a Sat filling one planter box with topsoil, plants, and gravel myself. Also, sub out your tree stump removal yourself or rent machine and do yourself. Another area could have saved time and money. We hired Ramirez Landscaping to remove three tree stumps after the hurricane for $200. Much cheaper than the one stump we had Senon's remove and Ramirez came two days after we called. If you want concrete flower boxes are border, they did a great job and we are happy with the work. If you need a slab, I would go another route unless they guarantee a truck. Even though he did the stain and foundation for free, we didn't know that would mean two other items we paid for would be taken care of because of the free items. So if someone says they will "throw it in" say no thanks and sub out. Senon's-great at getting in touch with you, great at doing planter boxes and borders, walk way was exactly what we wanted and looks great, need to improve slab work and lining up materials. Foundation patch job was what we needed. Circles show what we wanted fixed on planters and he did come back and fix. Unstained picture issue on slab that we could cover with stain color. Wrote a 10K estimate for less than 463 sq ft of tile installation. That includes tile that's 3.99 a sq. ft. That's 2K for the tile, 8K for the labor. Literally a WTF moment. I think because Austin is booming, contractors can be idiots and get away with it. read more

I am hard to please when it comes to contractors. So, I always get several quotes and check ratings on google, yelp, and Angie's list. After my research, I decided Senon would be one of four contractors to provide a quote. Senon was the only one who listened and took the time to fully understand the key elements of our goal. He provided a detailed quote on time. He wasn't the cheapest, but was in the ballpark (10%) and was by far not the most expensive. However, his design suggestions and his knowledge about materials made me feel very comfortable. Plus, he's a very likable guy. I selected Senon to do about $11,000 worth of stone work. His crew respected my property and were polite to my dogs and 2 year old son. Senon was on site a lot and always met me at the property to discuss the job when requested. He will take your calls or call you back quickly. Very easy to communicate with. The end result was better than we had expected. His price was spot on, no additional charges or hidden charges. I have recommended Senon to a few friends already and would use him again without hesitation. I give him an A+. Be detailed when telling him what you want and he will make it happen. Senon rebuilt two long areas of a limestone retaining wall. The previous mason didn't know how to built a wall to last. Senon oversaw the baterring (wall sloping inward on upper layers) and overall construction. We had large agave that the crew had to avoid. They did a good job of avoiding the plants we said were important to us. Senon had to purchase extra stone and gave out to usa for a fair price. He also had to purchase and add crushed granite at his cost. We are very pleased and hope we will not need to use the 2 year warranty. read more

He also gave me a quote far under what others gave me, so his pricing is competitive. The work that Senon and his crew did is outstanding, and I'd recommend him to anyone in the Austin area looking to have high quality, reasonably priced masonry work done. He was also able to acquire stone material that is an exact match for my building. My project was a small scale, half day job. He was able to work me into his schedule about ten days after I accepted his bid. For larger projects, he might need more notice. I first contacted Senon back last September. Our existing, 30-year-old brick wall was starting to crumble and was too tall, enabling rain water to sometimes seep into the house. We worked with Senon the rest of 2015 to establish the correct type of stone to use. Senon listened carefully to our vision for the type of stone we were wanting and pointed us to stone masonries and structures in the area that showed how that stone would look. In a few instances he personally brought some samples for us to match against our house brick. Once we were satisfied with the choice of stone and the holidays had passed, Senon and his crew started work in early January. Work proceeded on a pretty consistent schedule - progress was visible almost every day. Hard right angles in the previous wall at the front of the house were replaced with wider, curvy lines. The wall there was lowered to ensure that water would never again seep into the house. Whereas a gutter outlet was earlier routed above the old wall, this outlet was now hidden, discretely routed under the new wall. The new light-colored stone walls were topped with a beautiful white capstone. Our house is perched on a small hill, so Senon chose a tiered design where the dual-tiers' width mirrored that of the front of the house. These tiers impressively stand out from the hill and have generated numerous compliments from the neighbors - we look forward to planting an assortment of rosemary and lantana in them this Spring (plants that the deer don't eat !). It was a pleasure working with Senon and his crew, who were always responsive and constructed these walls in a very timely manner. The designs were completed in about 3 weeks. As an added bonus, Senon offered to, gratis, replace a no-longer-used front doorbell button assembly in our entry way with a couple of spare, matching bricks that we had. The same care in building the retaining and tiered walls was used to apply these bricks, beautifying that wall. Hired Senon to construct walls. I brought to his attention on many times they are not constructed properly and have no drainage in them. He refused to fix then, abandoned the job, and then left an utter mess expensive issues to fix. He did not pull any permits either, but built a wall over 4' anyway, so now the City of Austin is in the picture. The walls have to be totally corrected. He built stairs too in the wrong location after being told not too, because he quite was " they'd look better my way". Was very strange situation. He abandoned the job, refuse to address any issues, but then came back to apply Stucco ( wrong I might add- God look at pix - horrendous), left tons of garbage after saying he would clean it, but had no problem taking over 15,000 dollars. Will be moving forward seeking legal compensation for this nightmare. There even was a full week not 1 person was working, nor a notification of why. Then another week, if lucky, would have 2 guys working. Course different guys showing up randomly, and confused also when we talked with them about the project. Irrigation was completely stripped of all wires and never fixed. Disgusting how a contractor can take money, do the job incorrectly, leave a mess, and go on taking advantage of others. We found Senon's Masonry by chance through an internet search and couldn't be happier with the end result! Senon and his crew fixed a crack in our existing concrete patio and then covered the whole thing with Oklahoma Stone. The patio is about a foot thick, and I was a bit concerned about what they were going to do with the sides which are lined with bushes and not easily accessible. My worries were for nothing because they covered the sides without a problem. They also removed/hauled away the 12x12 wooden deck off our bedroom and built a new stone patio to replace it. Small businesses often have delays due to personal issues or equipment failures. These delays caused our project to take longer than originally planned. Also the project design changed more than once which meant we never knew exactly how the project would be finished out. The price was reasonable and competitive. We bought a nice new house with a not so nice, boring box of a backyard that we wanted to spruce up a bit by adding a space for outdoor dining and a fire bowl. We wanted to be able to use it soon because it was mid-Spring and insufferable heat was soon on the way. Fortunately, Senon responded quickly to a request for an estimate to build a small flagstone patio that I envisioned. He came the next day, on time, looked it over with me and made some good suggestions, and then was able to schedule the work for early the following week once I said yes to his estimate that he sent the day after the consult. It was very easy to work with him throughout and he was conscientious about notifying me when he couldn't come for a couple of days due to a personal issue (not a problem).
