Always helpful vast inventory of key blanks to fit just about everything and super friendly

These guys are a vendor for my HOA. Based on my personal experience, I highly caution you to not do business with them in any way. First of all, they are extremely expensive and overpriced. They charge $25 to duplicate a single key and upwards of $100 for key fobs that are $5 on Amazon. They think they can scam HOAs and get away with it. They have ruined the building locks and have taken away key fob locations that were used daily by the residents. Now they want $5000 to reads the location. They have recommended to the HOA to add new doors and locks for "security reasons" because they can't add 1 secure door. Now I have to swipe my key fob through 3 separate doors, plus the elevator to get to my apartment. This is idiotic and sad. They are incompetent to work in the most simplest of locks. I would not have them work on a child's plastic toy lock much less an apartment building. They give kickbacks to the HOA management company to get the business and the HOA management company allows them to steal from the building and its residents. This disappointment of a company must have their license revoked immediately. Pending the revocation of their license, please don't do business with them. Go somewhere else for your own safety, security and peace of mind. read more

I have been going to this place since I used to work at the refinery in Torrance but never had a chance to write these guys a review. Now I'm retired and went to them a couple of times and always have been very happy and satisfied with their service. Someone is always answering the phone with your questions and helping. I'm glad that they're still around and I wish them a very successful business and keep up the good customer service that makes people happy and keeps them coming back just like me. read more

His work van hit my car on the 10 freeway (lanes merged and he wasn't paying attention and sideswiped the backside of my car) then refused to get out of the car to exchange information! He was very rude and dismissive when I went to his car window he first ignored me, never rolled down the window then started to wave me off all rude like he didn't just hit my car so I called CHP and had to wait over an hour for CHP because he refused to just give me his info and carryon with the day even though he was the one that hit me! Not only did he waste my morning but now I am having to deal with insurance and getting my car fixed with the time I don't have. Very unprofessional/disrespectful behavior as a human being but also, I definitely wouldn't hire this person to do business of any kind. read more

Stopped yesterday to get some keys duplicated and I had a great experience. I had five different keys that I needed copies of and they had all blanks required. I needed different quantities of each key the tech left and when she returned all quantities were correct. It is very refreshing to come across a competent person, competency is a dying trait in today's world. And to top it off she copied my two different house keys in different colors one silver and one gold making it easy to differentiate between the two keys, sometimes it's the small things that count. ZERO STARS. Terrible experience. Very unprofessional. I took a day off of work after being told that a locksmith would service me "between 12:00pm-5:00pm". The 5 hour time frame prompted me to call and get an approximate time and was told 2:00, then 3:00. No-one showed, so I called the office at 5:10pm, and Kevin acted like it was my fault. He acted like he was doing me a favor by not charging me "extra for overtime", when clearly it was his responsibility to at least call and let me know. I understand that things happen in life, but it's not asking too much for a simple phone call. The owner was rude and had no regard for my time. Clearly he does not need my business, or yours. If you value your time and appreciate honest and open communication, co not hire this business. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. We are a commercial real estate firm and called today to get our building rekeyed. We were quoted an hourly rate and asked for an estimate based on the number of locks to rekey and the owner, Kevin, was incredibly rude and said he would not do that and declined the job. We are based in the Bay Area and have never had this issue with the professional firms we deal with here. There are a lot of moving parts working with doors, understandably, but to not be willing to provide some guesstimate after an onsite assessment is completely ridiculous. Went in on a weekday afternoon to dup my house keys after misplacing them after a trip. Service was quick and easy. They didn't have the same color keys any longer but had these various color rubbery key covers that would work with my color code. Unfortunately the master I used was a copy of a copy so the 3 new copies mostly didn't quite work to push the pins enough but I don't see it as their problem. Supervisor Ramon was excellent as was our on site tech Keeron (spelling?) who patiently removed our front door lock mechanism at our home, diagnosed the problem and had Ramon order the part. 3 days later new part installed, all is good. I'd give zero stars if I could. The first time these guys came out to repair the gate phone directory, they quoted $125 an hour, then I was hit with a bill for upwards of $400 though the repair took about an hour. But two guys came out! was the explanation. But that's not what you led me to expect, was my unspoken response. And the two were not necessary; I could have done the computer part while the guy was at the gate phone; I always have before. So I felt ripped off, especially since I paid for the time it took for quite a bit of unsolicited and unnecessary talk after the repair was effected. They said the wiring was old and cracked and needed to be replaced. Ok. I called and asked them to give me an estimate for the repair. They promised they'd send someone to come check it out and get right back to me. Nope. Nada. So the third encounter was when the directory went down again and I made an appointment between 9 and 12. Nope. The guy shows up at 3:30 when I'm at LAX picking someone up. He reset the system in my absence, but since he didn't come when I was home I could not run the program to see if the directory would load. When I did, it didn't. Same error message. And the guy can't come back today. Or the next. Or the next. So I called the owner and said I was going with another company that could come today, and what did I owe him for his non-repair? Sorry. No breaks there. This guy was not at all helpful. I prefer businesses that actually want me to be happy with their services. Nothing about this company made me happy. We've been wanting to get keys copied for months & this was along the way to the mall! We needed 2 copies of keys & it literally took less than 2 minutes! The employees were quick & friendly. Made the annoying errand last 2 minutes, not a second longer!! It costed a little over $5 for 2 copies & a key cover (not sure exactly what they're called). read more

Fantastic customer service! I needed to replicate a simple house key. And I didn't want to wait at Home Depot or Lowes for an employee that knew how to make keys to come around. I yelped places in the area and figured it was even better to support a small local business. I called prior to arriving to confirm times and prices the person that answered the phone was kind and answered all my questions. Upon arriving I was greeted by a gentleman. I told him what I needed and he had the key ready in what felt like less than 2 mins! I was pleasantly surprised and happy with the fast and friendly service. I called this place a few weeks ago to bring in my moms car for a new ignition as I have been told by another place that the key was so badly worn that they would need to start from scratch essentially. After attempting to give that spot my business I I got a quote from Torrance Lock and Key which was substantially lower AND they could accommodate me at either of their locations, immediately. I headed over to the Torrance location and after a few shots at making a 'key to code' the guy conceded he'd need to work on the ignition.. I left the car with him and came back two hours later to have 2 brand new keys, and all door locks working when previously only one worked, and the key would slide out of the ignition or fail to start the car.. Not the case anymore. I got stuck in a Lyft and the guy agreed to wait til I got there (20 mins past closing time) to make sure I could get the car, because I had specifically made time to do this for mom dukes on that day and I nor she would be able to pick it up the next day. The best part it was cheaper than their competitor.. With great customer service to match. Can't remember the guys name who helped me but see him! read more

called and got prices for rekeying locks on a friday, went in on a monday and dropped off locks, when all work was done the price had almost trippled and when ask about the price increase i was told the quote didn't include labor. i was a return customer and always had good luck with torrance lock and key and was alarmed that they would pull this kind of trick, or rip off. i won't be back and i would rate them 1/2 a star. very unhappy with the service. read more

Strangest thing happened. I called these guys and asked if they were capable of working on a specific type of lock. They had no idea what I was talking about so I told them to forget it. The I received a call from a guy saying he's about 45 minutes away. Then he called again so I asked him what company he worked for and he said, "the one you called." I replied that if he didn't even know who he worked for, he wasn't coming to my house. He still had no idea so we agreed he wouldn't come and we hung up. Since when and how do companies do business this way. What a joke considering this is a vendor that deals with securing peoples homes. What a terrific experience we had with Gary Bain of Torrance Lock & Key. He showed up exactly at the time promised and fixed our persnickety, troublesome lock. Now it works smooth as silk. Gary also adjusted the mortise plate so that the door closes more smoothly without us having to slam it!
