I recently took my RV to this great local establishment to get keys made from an almost broken key for my storage compartments, as well as having another set of all the keys made, as it only came with one set at purchase. I picked this business because it is in my neighborhood, and I could walk to/from home in 15 minutes. I certainly picked the right locksmith. Guy welcomed me and took my info and order. When I came back a few hours later after an appointment, I was very pleased that they were able to make copies of that almost broken and bent key. Furthermore, they oiled each of the many compartment locks, which took care of the issue that caused the key to bend in the first place. I had an old sliding door lock fail and went in with some photos to see if they could fix it. The guy said to give him a little time to look into it and a few hours later he texted me a replacement part I could buy from Home Depot and install myself for $20. They could have easily sent a technician out and charged an arm and a leg, but these guys are obviously an honest shop, that cares more about making long term customers than a quick buck. The staff here were friendly enough and knowledgeable. I came to get an electric wireless remote car key programmed, where I provided the spare key and they were going to do the programming, as the experts. To their credit and total defense, they disclaim up front that not all keys are able to be programmed and work, but because there is labor involved to discover if it can be done, you still have to pay for that process. It's a reasonable expectation that is totally rationalized. It takes about 1 hour or so to diagnose and program. You should set an appointment, call or discuss, and not drop by to assume they can do it on the spot. You will need to leave your car as well. They're fairly busy, which to me is a good thing and a possible testament to their business thriving. So, I brought my car in and unfortunately, my car and key were not able to be synced up, so I paid about $70 for the labor (which is the same amount they'd charge if they were able to get it to work) in figuring out it could not be done. Again, it was fully disclaimed by the staff up front that this could be the scenario. The upside is, if you can get it to work and they can get it done, you'll save a tremendous amount compared to what the official licensed car dealership would charge to program a replacement key. I'd not refrain from using them again nor not recommend them, in fact I would recommend them at minimum to discuss your situation and ask for their suggestions or solution and what it costs. I took my broken front door latch assembly in and the guy who helped me not only knew everything related to my lock and it's problems, but continued to assist me with the type of helpful attitude you hope you encounter as a DIY fixer. He was patient and interested in helping me solve my problem. He tinkered with my latch, lubricated the internal workings, and although he couldn't guarantee it was fixed, it intermittently worked so I could reengage the dead bolt. He was pleasant and very knowledgeable. And they're right on Artesia Blvd pretty close me. They have a room of new and old safes that's pretty cool, too. Anyway, I am a customer for life. Redmonds Lock and Key deserves an Excellent rating! I have been coming here for years (+20) and they have always provided high quality, top notch service. As I own several apartments so tenants will loose their keys or they leave, so i need all locks to be rekeyed. I typically will walk in around 9:30 am with 4-6 locks from apartments (including double sided deadbolts). They check to insure all the parts and keys are there and confirm what I need done including how many extra keys I need. They tell me to be back in an hour or if they are busy 1 1/2 hours. They have always been ready when i return and all the keys fit well and most importantly work 100% of the time. They are professional and very discrete. Its impressive they also know their products, knowing when i have high quality Schlage versus Home Depot Schlage locks. Otherwise you'll have instances of "why does this key work for one of the doors but not the other??"
