Only come in here if you want to be ignored by the staff. I've been in here multiple times and always get the same service.

One of my favorite activities is searching through long boxes for the lost gem or issue you need to complete the run. I also understand that they take up space and don't bring in as much money as cards/games. They have a discounted trades section which is nice and a little display case for some of the big boy books. There is a QR code to look at their full selection. Can park across the street in giant lot then walk around downtown Glen-Dale(Pitbull)

Also, please refer to market on tcg player or any other store around for market pricing. Also I went to a store 1.5 miles from you guys and was able to get mega dreams for $85. I would strongly suggest you review you pricing and consistency. Thank you I bought Pokémon cards and comic books. On my first visit, the staff were friendly and helpful. One of the workers even called the owner to work with me on pricing and was able to bring it down to fair market value at the max price while still honoring the store's point system. Even though prices were generally higher than other local shops, the experience felt fair, and I spent over $1000. I came back the next day excited to buy more. The owner did not raise prices, but he refused to give me the same pricing he approved the day before and removed the point rewards that were previously honored, with no clear explanation. I was not asking for a deal, a discount, or special treatment. I am not a scalper. I openly collect and open cards. I was simply asking for fair market pricing, even at the max market value. They told me they price at market value and showed me a specific site. That same site showed lower prices, yet I was told those higher prices are just their prices, despite knowing other stores nearby sell the same products at normal market value. I still spent close to $700 on the second day, but when the cashier asked if I wanted a receipt, it honestly hurt to say no because I knew I would not be coming back. I did make sure to tell the cashier this was not on him. He was genuinely kind and helpful, and I thanked him. Summary of issues: 1. Prices consistently above online and local market. 2. Inconsistent pricing and point system from one day to the next. 3. Point rewards removed without explanation. 4. Claiming market pricing while refusing to honor it. I truly thought I found a great shop during my travels, but after this experience, I will not be returning.

If you haven't gone here you need to go. I wish I stayed there longer, but I was on a strict schedule. The atmosphere is creative and welcoming, with a cool artistic vibe that makes browsing so much fun! The staff clearly knows their stuff and are passionate about books and art. The store was super clean , well organized and easy to navigate through, when with such uniqueness. Overall experience was so unique, I wish i had more time to enjoy the cafe, games and books. Plan on staying here for at least an hour. I love this place! Found it by accident.

I was disappointed to see record stores have dried up, but when I looked up comic book stores, this was near the top, and close to where I had lunch. Street parking is fairly easy, and I didn't realize that the first door I passed was another entrance to a café looking area. However, the main entrance was a visually impressive experience in its own right. Full of stimuli basically, that's assured at Revenge of... (the Nerds? Supes?). Love the name! In addition to comics and usual toys and nicknacks, I was delighted to find not one, but two areas devoted to pinball machines! Additionally, the interior design evokes lots of classic (e.g. Silver and Bronze Age) artwork. X-Men and Spider-Man definitely influenced the architectural approach. It's impressive and lends a fun vibe, as well as atmospheric lighting. Two café counters in different areas allow for drinks to be purchased, and lots of nooks and crannies have things ranging from vinyl records, board games, a discounted graphic novels area, as well as recent comic titles and weekly releases (typically on Wednesdays). The back issues are found in X shaped fixtures and spaced in a clever arrangement that simultaneously encourages and enhances browsing, and yet doesn't clutter the walking areas. I found several missing issues for my Conan the Barbarian run, and everything is bagged and boarded (archival terms), so that's good. I didn't explore the pinball machines as I was pressed for time, but I definitely see myself visiting when I'm nearby in the future.

I've lived in HLP for over a decade now and kept putting off a visit to Comics VS Toys for one…read morereason or another. When the urge to buy comics struck, I would default to the Pasadena stores - you know the ones - and man was that a mistake. I used to be an avid collector in the 90s, and Bali Books in Alhambra was my sanctuary. Every other store, no matter how good the selection, just felt impersonal. I recently decided to start reading issues in real time instead of waiting for TPBs, and of course that meant I needed a pull list. One stop at Comics VS Toys and dammit I feel like a 12 year old all over again. The owner, Ace, immediately took my requests and helped fill in some recent back issues I missed out on. Luckily my current list is staggered and I have a legitimate excuse to pick up my stack every week. And the staff is awesome, like your favorite neighborhood bar tenders. See ya next week! Do yourself a favor and go visit Comics VS Toys!

Though I did enjoy the t-shirts that they had on display. I am a comics fan and, if I had all day, I would be able to go through this entire place's inventory. But I found it wasn't organized in a way that I found easy to navigate. There were definitely some comic favorites of mine, or titles that I was interested in, but I came upon them randomly. And most weren't where I was expecting them. Interestingly enough, the comics were exclusively (or almost exclusively) Western comics. I didn't see any manga. There are, of course, shops entirely devoted to manga, but I've seen few comics shops that didn't have a few titles, given their popularity. The clerk on duty was neither outgoing nor unfriendly. Which, honestly, I'm fine with. When it comes to stores with lots of merchandise, as long as I can find someone to ask a question, I'm happy. I don't need someone breathing down my neck. While I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again, I might browse if I was in the area.

Even though I am not the one to call on when wanting to have your likeness sketched; I do appreciate the art of drawing and am drawn (pun intended) to individuals who are illustrators/artists/etc. These people, although NOT comic book nerds (I draw the line at that -another pun!) can delineate quality comic books, graphic novels and art books. My boyfriend, who is an esteemed Hollywood 3D animation artist with a long list of credits to his name (so proud of him!); is an artist inside and out and we recently followed our curiosity into House of Secrets: comic book/graphic novel/collectibles shop in Burbank. House of Secrets is a 35+ year old local business originally holding down the fort in La Canada-Flintridge before its current real estate at the corner of Olive and Lamer not far from the Warner Bros Studio lot. From the exterior, House of Secrets looks like a regular ole' storefront but it lives up to its moniker because its doors truly open to an immersive art-filled comic book store that is unlike many I have seen (not that I have been to THAT many). House of Secrets has the vibes akin to the coolest record store you can imagine with a main room filled with bins and shelves of comic books, graphic novels and other art books from rare and back copies to modern-day releases all beautifully organized and tidy making any OCD-afflicted individual (me) overjoyed. House of Secrets is a world of color and print and even supplements the actual merchandise stock with posters on the ceiling and laminated into the floor tiles. Every inch of House of Secrets is a work of art. But if that isn't enough, House of Secrets features side rooms giving it an art gallery vibe with even more comics/books plus art from local artists for sale. Frankly, House of Secrets is 'cool' even for someone like me who isn't a comic book nerd and not a part of the world of graphic novels due to it being an art paradise. House of Secrets is an experience that is interesting to check out simply for the ambiance. The customer service at House of Secrets is also top-tier as my boyfriend who knows a little more about the merch sold at the shop than I do; asked for a particular piece and the gentleman working (I am assuming one of the owners) immediately had answers and knew what he was talking about which was also reflected when overhearing him answer other customer's questions. Plus, he wasn't annoyed that we were hanging in the store near closing time! I've noticed that I often feel very uncomfortable in specialty niche stores especially if out of my hobby element but somehow felt fine at House of Secrets. They are welcoming and friendly to all who enter their threshold. I can't comment on the pricing at House of Secrets and whether they overcharge or excel in this aspect as well because I do not know enough about the products to even remotely know proper pricing. Word on the streets is that House of Secrets also holds events and author signings! House of Secrets is an incredible local Burbank business that is exceptional for comic book lovers but also 'fun' for those who may be lesser so; but appreciate art and print. Definitely check out House of Secrets when in the Burbank area!
