Decent, reliable and consistently good fare. Had the nigiri sushi assortment, age dashi and miso. Miso a tad salty (needed more hot water), but otherwise perfect. Fish is very fresh, and served at a good temperature so you can actually taste the fish. The rice is perfectly seasoned - not too sweet, just right. The age dashi was served on a sizzler platter and had some lightly sauteed vegetables around it which was different - but nice. Age dashi not overly sweet and not too greasy. Good ambiance. This place is pretty amazing! It's definitely a place I will go again! The service: The waiter is very polite and is very friendly, not pushy at all and gave lots of room to talk while checking up on us every once in a while which was nice. Food: I had the Bulgogi and tempura bento box which was very good. It came with rice, salad, 3 dumplings, the beef and assorted tempura. I liked everything in the bento box. The tempura was light and crispy, not greasy at all. The beef was seasoned well and went well with the rice. The salad and dumplings were just okay, not anything special. They also gave out complementary miso soup at the beginning and ice cream at the end which was a plus and free tea if you order it. The price I thought the price was fairly decent maybe a little expensive for a Korean/Japanese restaurant but not overly priced That being said, overall I think it is well worth it and I will definitely be going in the near future. 5 stars. read more

Delicious fresh sushi. Crystal, the waitress that will probably serve you, is happy and very dedicated to food - all food. She is so spoiled after eating here every day that she has a hard time choosing where to eat on her days off. I like the sashimi combo which brings at least 15 large pieces of fish and is well presented. The Toro sushi special is a combination that comes with maki sushi, nigiri sushi, and shrimp and vegetable tempura. You can have the Toro sushi special with sake or without (for a small discount). This combo probably best expresses what Toro has to offer. The rolls are large an flavorful, with a nice balance of textures an tastes. They will do some substitutions but are conscious enough and principled enough to not substitute ingredients when the chef believes that the taste profile will be thrown off. The Korean food is in a word, bad. Keep to the sushi. read more

This restaurant is excellent. The food is always freshly made, hot and ready to be eaten. Compared to other sushi restaurants, the shrimp tempura was to die for. It was served warm and crunchy! it just melted in my mouth. Sushi was well prepared, attractive to the eye and of course delicious to the taste. Toro's also give a wide range of options to eat which is always a plus. This visit, I ordered the Bolgogi Dinner ..And of course, it didn't disappoint! It was so flavorful and served still sizzling with fresh veggies tossed in to add a little kick - which I like. The waitress was a delight, giving us complimentary miso soup, tea and even ice-cream! I will have to say, I am not a fan of their miso soup but everything else is fantastic. My only real disappointment would be the price. Everything is quite expensive for a Korean restaurant which can be really annoying to me. Nevertheless, it is still worth it. read more

Staff were fantastic...saved us a table as we called from the 401 for a quick stop-in dinner on our way home. Good food - fresh, hot, and big portions of everything. The sushi was definitely above average and the soba noodle stir fry was very tasty. The appetizer platter has a ton of good food for 12 bucks and is easily good for 3-4 people. We couldn't have asked for much more - we tried it because of solid Yelp reviews and are happy to add our recommendation. Overall, very good Japanese food that's elevated by great staff. Atmosphere: This is a small and clean restaurant. There was pop music playing quietly, and I realized that it was korean. There are some Japanese/ Korean touches, the pictures of geishas and a ceremonial swords. Overall, you don't go for the decor. Food: We ordered edimame and vegetable tempura on recommendation. They were both good. I had the bento box with sashimi and chicken tempura. My partner had a large, ice cold Saporo and the Dolsol Bi Bim Bap. Others in the party had the Wonton Soup and a plate of Philidelphia Rolls and Poor Boy Rolls. Everything was hot, fresh and tasty. Service: Friendly and prompt. The waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and had suggestions. Price: It is a little more than an 'all you can eat' sushi restaurant. It is also a few dollars more per item than you would pay in Toronto. I am willing to pay a little more for higher quality food and good service. Visiting Belleville for work. Looked up restaurants in Belleville and Toro Sushi was ranked one of the highest. I can see why! I had the edamame, miso soup, and spicy tuna and spicy salmon makis. Oh, and Sapporo of course. The spicy maki are made without mayo, so they are spiced with straight Sriracha. Although a little more kick than I'm used to, it was a really nice change! And for a Monday night, the door just kept swinging open with more people coming in. Service was excellent. Great for solo diners. One minor suggestion - thought the edamame was a little oversalted. I was visiting the area and the waitress gave me helpful tips on what to do and see and even wrote them down for me. I live in Toronto and this is the best sushi I've had outside of Japan. It's actually pretty solid sushi especially for Belleville, it's not as good as Ku Mo Sushi though which is slightly better than Toro Sushi

Good sushi although their definition of a sunomono salad is not what we were expecting. Apparently, the locals don't like the usual version so they adapted it to fit the crowd. Fair enough. We were offered a drink upon being seated and received our drink order... And then nothing. I almost thought they forgot us but about 15 minutes later, they came to take our order. If it was busy, I'd understand but there weren't many tables at the time and it was fairly early in the evening. Our food came up and was delivered quickly but then that seemed to be the end of the service. We would have liked to order a few more items but got tired of waiting. Overall, it's a nice place with good food but if you're expecting good service, go somewhere else. read more

This is HANDS DOWN the only worthy place in town for sushi. It is the best, always tastes fresh PLUS they have gluten free soya sauce and are excellent at letting you know what us celiacs can have. As a vegan, there are few, if any, places to eat in the area (Stirling's Chinese restaurant is the only other place I can eat without getting sick or ending up in hospital, particularly with a severe dairy allergy). So, Toro is my favourite for a night out or special event, when family comes to town, I have a business meeting, etc. The miso soup has fish broth, so I skip that. But the wakame salad, veggie tempura, agadashi tofu, veggie dumplings and the selection of veggie rolls (including inari) rock my world. I wish they had brown rice, but just another occasional sin ; ) They do fry shrimp (tempura) in the veggie tempura oil, but I find shrimp are one of the few things that (unlike chicken wings, cheese sticks, etc.) don't exude much into the oil, particularly when battered. I generally avoid anything fried with animal products at all (and usually get very sick if I don't). But, Toro is my one sinful pleasure and have never been sick after eating there. You can avoid the fried stuff, but...why? When it is so delicious and the oil kept very clean, I choose to sin there, not too often, just once every few months. If you are there for lunch, try the Toro veggie bento. I substitute the 'green' salad for seaweed (wakame) salad (extra $2 I think), but this bento contains some of their best veggie options and will leave you very full (it includes veggie rolls, agadashi tofu, yam tempura, dumplings...). Otherwise I never leave without veggie tempura (but bring scissors if you are sharing because there is one asparagus and one onion, and no one wants to fight over them); and the squash tempura is phenomenal. Also the seaweed salad and agadashi tofu.... I am going tonight for a late bday dinner. read more

I was really hopeful having read several reviews, but I had a rather odd experience at the restaurant. I was visiting in Belleville for the night. The miso soup was so hot when delivered, it scalded my mouth after just the tiniest sip. I waited almost fifteen minutes for it to cool enough to drink it. The vegetable tempura was good, except for a piece of asparagus that was so woody it was inedible. The spicy crab roll however was what I was most disappointed with. I love spicy food and I love sushi. It was so hot spice-wise it was inedible. I should have sent it back, but I hate conflict and tend to be a bit of a wuss in restaurants when it comes to sending food back. The chef was sending out complimentary samples of something. Every table in the place got a sample except me. I thought that was odd. So, the overall experience was hit and miss. I wish I had tried the other sushi restaurant I saw in Belleville instead. read more

We love their food tastes great and service is fast. But I must say having eaten at similar restaurants in Kingston and Toronto area they are expensive. A bento box meal is generally $18-20 pp while I could pay $10 elsewhere. So keep in mind their pricey. read more

This is hands down the best sushi place around, me and my dad went here and we were able to share one bento box and be super full the food is amazing and definitely very good quality. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is cozy and if you are looking for a delicious dessert ask if they have ginger ice cream it is super yummy!!!
