My mobile home park hired Toro to build a new entry sign. What should have taken just a couple of weeks turned into 8 months. Their own contract said 6 weeks, (even though it still should not have taken that long for just an entry sign structure), and they went way beyond that. There were weeks where they didn't even come work. They claimed it was to let concrete cure, or to let things dry, but it does not take 6 weeks for concrete to dry. They didn't show up on days where they said they would and left the area a mess for months. I do not recommend them. They strung us along for months. Will not be using them again. read more

Our park hired Toro Construction to build a simple structure for our sign. The job was suppose to be 2 weeks, 9 months later it is still not completed. There are weeks that go by with no work done and times they come out and do very little work. They also have left mounds of dirt for about 7 months and trash that has been there the whole time. Would never hire them to do a job for me. read more

Interviewed a few contractors to work on a kitchen remodel and other projects around the house. Spoke with Tony who got me in touch with his business partner Alex. Alex showed up to our appointment on time and was great to meet in person. He gave us great confidence that they would be able to help us with our project and do a great job. We let them know that our remodel budget was around 100k and said we would love to get an estimate. After months of waiting for an estimate, we were told over and over again that it was coming soon or would get no response. Two weeks ago we spoke on the phone to ask if they were too busy for the project and Alex said they were backed up with estimates but would get one next week. After the two weeks passed with no estimate I reached out again for a response. Alex's response : Due to the work load we have. We can't take on the project. Thanks for your interest in working with us. At this point, we could have started our project months ago but we're lead on that they would be willing to help with the project. Very disappointing and wish they would have been up front and honest at the time of our conversation. read more

Tony Toro Construction gave us exceptional service in terms of home renovations. We were looking for contractors to re-do a newly purchased mobile home and experiencing a lot of frustration. One contractor came out and then never answered another call from us. Several others never showed up at all or, if they did show up, they never emailed us a bid. But from the first, Tony Toro was responsive, receptive and always in communication. When we called Tony, we were able to set up an appointment within a couple of weeks. His partner, Alex, showed up precisely on time, looked over our list of projects (two typed pages of them), spent two hours going over the list and the home, answered all questions, and told us they could start in a few days. His knowledge was obvious and his manner friendly and professional. One major consideration for hiring this company is that they have members of their team who can do it all. And we were impressed by the workers, each of whom was a specialist in his own field--electrical, plumbing, carpentry, handyman, gutters, etc. The home had been poorly fixed in the past, if it had been fixed at all, and we were constantly amazed at how well each of Tony's specialists did his job. The lowered ceilings in the kitchen and alcove were all checked and the old fluorescent fixtures and lights were replaced with LEDs by Jose, the electrician. The old cooktop and hood were removed and a new cooktop and hood were installed. Jose also replaced a very old circuit breaker panel, and many more tasks. Each team member showed up on time or called if they were going to be a few minutes late, and they always cleaned up at the end of the day. Phone calls to Alex were promptly returned and all questions answered to our satisfaction. We were never unpleasantly surprised. They were fast, efficient and totally capable of handling all the diverse work we needed done. Brandon did the carpentry work we needed done in the master bathroom. Their plumber crawled under the house and re-routed the dryer vent to exit the side of the house instead of just depositing lint in the dirt under the home. Merco, the man who came out to patch and work on our gutters, was thorough and efficient, and their welder who fixed our porch hand railing was very capable and did a great job. Basically, everyone who came to work on our home from Tony Toro Construction was friendly, on time, and was exceptionally good at what he did. Best of all, we feel we received superb service and work for a very reasonable cost. We give them our highest recommendation. read more

I just can't say enough good things about Tony Toro Construction! Santa Barbara is a small town and I've lived here since '79. I met Tony when he first moved here years ago as he became a "regular" at my local Starbucks and over many daily chats over coffee knew him only to be a true friend and a standup guy so it wasn't hard to figure out who I should go to for a bid on a long dreamed of bathroom remodel. I also had Re-bath bid the project as several friends were happy with their work. Tony's project manager was courteous, came on time and asked all the right questions along with his tile guy so I knew they had a clear understanding of exactly what I was looking for in the remodel. Tony came back with a bid the next day which was highly appreciated and enough below Re-bath's bid to make our decision easy. Now I did have one good challenge for Tony and his crew... I needed the work to start on a certain day and I needed the majority of the work done while my husband and daughter were out of town as our home is small with only one shower. He was able to meet both of those challenges keeping the inconvenience of not having a functioning shower to a happy minimum. Tony checked in on the job often and his workers were all very courteous and came when they were scheduled to come keeping the job moving at a quick pace. I did make one change to the job after it was bid and Tony was wonderful in accommodating that change keeping the increased cost to a reasonable amount that we could afford. I did have a pretty clear picture of what I wanted in the bathroom remodel (having dreamed about it for many years) but not having ever done this before, there were a few areas where I needed the help of a professional in making some key decisions. Tony's team was able to give me great advice and worked well with me in working through the details of the areas where I wasn't sure what was possible. Together we were able to make everything I had envisioned happen! All my friends who've come over to see my new bathroom say "WOW - it's like a spa!!!" Don't hesitate to hire Tony - we couldn't be happier and plan to use him again for our next project!!! read more

I hired Tony to repair the stucco around a window I replaced. It was a small job, and sometimes contractors don't prioritize small jobs... not the case with Tony and his team. They treated my small job as if it was as important as plastering an entire house. Every team member I met was professional and courteous, and the job was completed on-time and on budget. I've waited a few months to write this review because I wanted to see how the work "seasoned" and whether there would be cracking or a need to get them to come back, and their work has held up beautifully. read more

Hired him to stucco my fireplace. First time he sent two out they did a horrible job texturing. Missed spots all over the place. He sent them out again, and applied a layer over the first. Shortly after, had cracks all over. Supposed to come out a third time, but his staff didn't show up. Complete waste of time and money. read more

My experience with Tony Toro has been very good. Whenever I've called him he's been very responsive. He has done electrical repairs for me at various rental properties. I also had a complicated repair on a property that he brought in a guy who works with him, who was very smart, and between the 3 of us we came up with a great solution and Tony's company did the work. read more

I used Toro Builders for the demolition and reconstruction of a severely water-damaged home in Montecito. The work had to be coordinated with code requirements and insurance; more importantly, it had to be estate-level esthetically. Tony tackled the job and sorted out the maze of paperwork, worked constantly with the subs to keep the quality high, and finished the job on time and within budget. And above all, he has an excellent record of standing behind his work. He can handle any job at any level. read more

I would never recommend Tony Toro Construction for these reasons. 1. Toro showed up once at the job and never interfaced with myself or my wife during the five months. 2. He promised in a verbal agreement that he would have workers on the job 40 hours a week until it was complete. The results were constant delays by inconsistent work that resulted in about a three week delay of his painting contract. 3. He asked and received payments in excess of state law: first payment $5,000: second of three payments $8,000 when no painting had been completed. 3. The contract agreed to final "touch up" at the end of all construction; I asked his lead painter when it would begin and he said it was complete. There were still two dozen places that needed "touch up" but weren't completed nor was construction finished when this so-called "touch up" was done in violation of our verbal and written agreement. Part of his work was to remove curtain rods for painting and replace them; they were replaced backwards but Toro refused to pay for the labor (ignoring a letter to him from our design consultant who had recommended him in the first place) to replace the rods ,which was his responsibility, because he claimed he did extra work of which I knew nothing. 4. I have been forced to hire others at my expense to replace the curtain rods and complete the numerous "touch up" painting Toro did not do. 5. Toro charged us twice for the same bill which was straightened out but illustrates lack of focus. I am glad others have good results from Mr. Toro, but we certainly did not. read more
