New Izakaya spot on Geary, and from the look of the menu I could tell it's related to the restaurant, Bubu. The happy hour menu has a good deal especially for a quick sashimi fix! I was referred here for $3 appetizers & yakitori (sashimi/nigiri, skewers) + $5 sushi rolls/small plates. I've been here twice, and the first time the food was almost a 5 where the sashimi pieces were generous and fresh, and the cooked options had great texture; but the second time it was probably closer to a 3.5, with some sushi rolls filled with a lot of dry rice, or the truffle hamachi carpaccio being overly heavy on the sauce. I mostly come here for the nigiri/sashimi. Would recommend trying the okinomiyaki, truffle hamachi carpaccio and the karaage & fries (purple sweet potato fries) which were surprisingly good. The skewers are okay, they were on the drier side. There's also $1 beer, $2 sake, and $4 signature drinks, though acl is not for me. I haven't tried anything from the non-HH menu, but would come back to try their ramen one day. You wouldn't come here for top notch sushi, but the deal is such a steal. Emphasis on quantity because we ordered so much for what the subtotal was. Servers are friendly and funny too. Overall 4 for the food, 5 for the value, service, and new restaurant boost.

The food is always beautifully presented and absolutely delicious! It's such a wonderful time whenever we dine here. Jackson provides service that truly goes above and beyond, we can always count on him for a great laugh and an even better time. Let's get into what we ordered recently: - Tempura Udon - Kakuni Pork Belly - Dynamite Shrimp - Negi Toro Roll - Salmon Nigiri - Hamachi Nigiri - Tuna Nigiri The spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls are also good, but please don't go too heavy on the spicy mayo over the rolls. Another great meal and another great experience! We'll definitely be back.

This has honestly become my favorite happy hour in the city. For weekdays it is between 9-10pm for the late night portion. Not only are the food and drink prices super cheap but the quality is amazing! Everything I had was super delicious and the staff were constantly checking up to see if we needed anything else. I have a feeling this is going to be my go to for those late night cravings. Absolutely recommend this place to everyone.

At first, I was really excited to try the happy hour because the prices looked like a great deal. Unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing. To start, two of the cocktails we wanted were unavailable, and several of the happy hour food items were also out of stock. On top of that, the service was poor. Our waiter came across as rude, repeatedly saying, "What else? What else?" while taking our order. At one point, he told us, "Sorry, I'm too busy. I can't take another order for another 10 minutes," and then never came back to our table. After waiting for so long, we ended up canceling one of our food orders and leaving early to go to another bar instead. If you're looking for a good happy hour, I'd recommend checking out another spot with better service, larger portions, and similar or better deals. This restaurant has potential, but the staff could definitely benefit from better customer service training and better management of happy hour availability.

Came here on a sunny Sunday for dinner at 5pm with a party of 4, including a small child. Good place to bring little ones, not too busy and spacious enough to fit a stroller. Cons: service is slow, only 1 waiter up front and 3 in the back/kitchen. Kept asking what we were missing while it seemed like other tables got their items (they just opened last month so understand it takes time to get everything up and running) Pros: - EVERYDAY HH! $3-5 skewers/rolls! - rolls are definitely the best bang for your buck. Fish was fresh too. - great place to chat bc they don't kick you out and it's not noisy Ordered: - variety of HH rolls - HH skewers - Spicy Tori Paitan ramen: broth had great flavor and comes with 2 chicken meatballs and a large bone in chicken thigh! Huge! - chirashi bowl - karaage Note to self: next time order one ramen to share, HH rolls and HH skewers

Couldnt resist seeing Hokkaido cheesecake $10 in the outside menu. I ended up not having it because of the Haapy Hour special $5 most of the items from 5 pm to 6 pm. It doesn't help to be hungry. I got seated and was given cold water with my own carafe and eventually Wasabi and ginger. A piece of paper and reminder there is round 1 and round 2. I'm only here for round 1. Sashimi with tuna and salmon. 3 pieces each. Salmon was great. It came with Japanese seaweed (love it). I added taokoyaki then crossed it out and added again. Actually that was my favorite. Soft inside with lots of dashi (fish dried shavings). Fried oyster comes in 3. I still like the squishyness inside. Salmon nigiri (skip next time). I was reminded last call around 5:55 pm. Enjoyable and I was really full.

tldr wonderful new japanese Izakaya on geary serving up fresh sushi rolls + decent apps at an affordable price during happy hour with friendly staff and decent amount of seating got 5 rolls to try (spicy salmon, tuna, negi toro, california, eel) - all had great ratio of fish to rice ratio, rice was solid, and fish seem fresh. the rolls came with about 5-6 pieces which was great at $5 with it being on the smaller side also ordered the crunchy wings and okonomiyaki. both were just fine as the wings were a bit too breaded but had a sweet chili glaze and similar to a korean fried chicken. the okonomiyaki was just fine, pretty crispy but had pretty minimal filling and perfect size as an app for two people service was pretty fast and ambiance was decent enough with ample booth seating and room to host bigger groups. overall i'll be back again for the affordable tasty food at happy hour! it's great especially for the price right now :)

Happy hour deliciousness!

Excellent food! Working my way through the menu. I have regularly ordered take since they opened but decided to try their Happy Hour menu lots of delicious options. I highly recommend. The delicious eats in this pic: Karaage and fries, chicken thighs, chicken hearts, pork belly, california roll, salmon avocado roll. Get in there while they are still new. They are already getting popular so soon it will be hard to get a table. Entrees I have ordered and enjoyed: Karaage Don, Garlic noodle Sauteed with chicken, and of course the Teriyaki Classic with beef. Also had the mochi. Gotta have desert and yes it was for take out. Go ahead and get to Tori Beer before the line starts growing!

they just opened and their happy hour is everyday 430-6pm and 9-10pm. my party of 6 got seated at 840 and we couldn't do the happy hour bc of their ordering system until 9, so we ordered our mains and apps after. they gave us a dynamite shrimp on the house, very crunchy and good sauce sweet on top (they apparently changed the recipe bc it used to be soggy but it was not the b with us) i got the millionaire ramen medium spice but it was not spicy at all and the broth was really good (super fatty) and also the chicken heart skewer during the happy hour which came with 10 pieces which was way more than expected. i definitely will be coming back here bc these deals cannot be beat!

We just found this place last night, and I'm so glad we did! From what I read in other Yelp reviews, they just opened about two weeks ago, and they're already off to an amazing start. The fish quality is outstanding, everything we ordered was incredibly fresh, and you can definitely taste the quality. If you love sushi, this place is absolutely worth trying. Their happy hour is one of the best around, with great prices, and it runs from 9-11 PM Fri/Sat! They're open until 10 during the week and stay open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, which is perfect for a late-night sushi craving. The service was excellent from start to finish. Be sure to ask for Ana, she was amazing! She was so friendly, attentive, and made our experience even better! We also found out it's owned by the same people as Public Izakaya, which makes a lot of sense because the food and service were both top-notch. We can't wait to come back and are excited to have another great late-night sushi spot!

Walu Nigiri

Tori recently took over from an AYCE sushi/hotpot restaurant, which was ok, and we went in yesterday with low expectations but we're honestly surprised. Food: We went in for happy hour 4:30-6:00pm, specifically for the skewers, sushi, and low prices. Very, very surprised at the quality and quantity of food for the price. $3 chicken and pork belly skewers. 2 skewers per order. Unbeatable. Skewers I'd rate a 7.5/10. And the flavor and quality was unreal for $3. Nigiri $3, huge serving of fish on the rice and quality was around 5/10. 10 being omakase level. Sushi rolls $5, would rate them 6/10 in quality. I enjoyed everything I ate. Not a single bad item on the menu. The price of each item brings everything to a 10/10. Service: We arrived at 4:30 and left at 6:15. We ordered maybe 10 minutes after being sat. Most of our food came in around 30 - 40 min. We ordered 3 rounds so it did take a while as the place was completely packed at 5pm. Server was a bit overwhelmed being by himself, but he did his best to take care of everyone timely. No complaints about service. Ambiance: No different than the last place really. They changed a few things up, like putting separators between the booths, some daiso styled decorations hung up, but it's pretty much a shell of the old Round table like the previous place. We expected this coming in though and were really there for the food, which delivered. In the end, I lost track of how many things we ordered. I think the bill was $55 for the two of us. After tax and tip, $75 out the door. Might sound like a decent amount but in San Franciso for what we ate, a meal like that would usually be double the price. We're definitely coming back again soon.

Chicken Udon
Gina S.

We found this place near my friend's house and they have the best happy hour hands down! $1 beer, $3 for well-sliced nigiri and thick sashimi, and $5 for the crunchiest, freshly fried chicken wings. The servers are friendly and attentive but don't hover. I came back a couple days later for their udon as a late-night after work treat and got to enjoy some of their happy hour menu again as well. I would probably be here multiple times a week if I lived close enough!

Super crispy and full fried chicken pieces! The fries were good too, but for $5 dollars the chicken alone was great value

Although they're sister restaurant with Public Izakaya, I think their food is better -- especially the Kaarage and Fries. I'm usually weary because some restaurants just do the chicken nugget style, but these are full-on premium pieces (and all for $5 dollar during happy hour / $9 regular price). The sushi and sashimi were top notch too!

I stopped by here on a Saturday around 7 and it was packed but the wait wasn't too long yet thankfully. The menu had a nice assortment of appetizers, skewers, ramen, and an extensive drinks menu. For two people, we tried the corn ribs, black tofu, 7 course skewer set and the duck duck udon carbonara. I wasn't too hungry so there was a bit of food leftover. The corn ribs were very flavorful and perfectly done. The udon was a bit too spicy for my liking but still very creamy. I enjoyed the duck but my friend said it was too fatty. All of the skewers were cooked well and I liked the shrimp the most. At the end, we were given a free hojicha panna cotta with fruit and that was a really pleasant addition. The staff was nice and the decor with the lanterns and art made me feel like I was in Japan. The music was also an interesting mix of Asian songs. Would come back to try other things or the drinks!

Granted, we came in around 9 PM, about an hour before closing, so we understood that the kitchen was getting toward the end of the night. We ordered a few dishes to share and there were actually some highlights. The scallops: These were great! Easily one of the better dishes we ordered. The karaage chicken: The chicken itself had great flavor, but the creamy sauce on top was extremely rich and ended up overpowering the chicken. I think with less sauce, this could have been a really good dish. Now, the ramen: This is where I was genuinely left speechless. I don't think I've ever had ramen with absolutely no umami. Like, none. It was one of the strangest things I've ever tasted. I was biting into something, there were textures in my mouth, it smelled great... but that was it. No depth. No richness. No umami. The broth, meat, and even the noodles somehow had almost no flavor. The only thing that really came through was the greasy chili oil that lingered on your tongue afterward. After a couple of bites, we looked at each other and decided to leave. At that point, most of the food was still sitting on the table practically untouched. Maybe we caught the kitchen on an off night, especially coming in later in the evening. The scallops showed us that there's definitely potential here, but unfortunately, the ramen was such a miss that it overshadowed the rest of the meal for us.
