I sure do love some good tacos! I mean who doesn't?! After both hearing and reading such wonderful things about Torchy's Tacos I decided it was time to give them a try! WHO: Just lil' ol' me. WHERE: Torchy's of course! WHEN: I stopped by just before the lunch rush on a Thursday. To my surprise there was no line. Woot! WHY: To quench my taco craving and check out a new hot business. WHAT: Good things always come in threes, so why would tacos be any different. I noshed on the Baja Shrimp taco, the Trailer Park taco (trashy of course), and the Fried Avocado taco. They were all super tasty and had tons of flavor! They also offer Maine Root sodas from the fountain in a variety of flavors like black cherry, root beer, cola, etc... as well. As other reviewers mentioned, is that the service was somewhat lackluster. You order, grab a seat with your number, tacos are dropped off, as you eat someone will stop by and take away your baskets. Not bad, but not the best. At one point a woman, who I'm assuming was the manager, stopped by to check and insure my food was alright. That's just about all your interaction with the staff. I admit I was nervous after seeing everyone else's reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. Growing up in San Diego, I know Mexican food. I went simple with a chicken burrito and chips with guacamole. Awesome street tacos! Some of the best I've had in Denver. It's not number 1 but it's really good, and lots of interesting choices. Modern place, got outdoor seating, a bar, the parking can be confusing but it's not bad. Small lot though. Pretty friendly staff here, and the tacos came out in about 3 minutes. They also have jarritos, good stuff. We got the democrat and a beef fajita, I recommend both. Great sauce choices, and the tacos were amazing. Better than some places I've had in California! My friend and I visited from California and we have vertical licenses even though we're older than the legal drinking age. After getting declined at the bar for having those vertical licenses (didn't know some restaurants don't accept verticals!), we decided to do take out. I was disappointed and wish we knew because we went specifically during happy hour just to get shut down. Brushfire: YES! Definitely recommend. The diablo sauce is so good. Republican: The sausage isn't diced or chopped like I assumed it would be. It was just sliced in half and placed in the taco with a bunch of cheese. I didn't have any pico de gallo in mine like stated on the menu, so it was slightly disappointing because there was nothing fresh to cut all the fat. I didn't even use the poblano sauce. I just used my leftover diablo for a good kick. My friend Henry L brought me to this location when I came to visit...I ordered the trailer park and the crossroads, both equally amazing...however..not mexican authentic like LA or SD..but more like Tex-Mex authentic i'd say service is a bit slow, we actually had to find the bartender for him to call someone over to the cashier counter.....if it were up to me, i'd have walked out of that restaurant and went somewhere else..but alas..we stayed.. the beers here are nice though..the Denver pale ale...supposedly when you are up mile high in elevation, alcohol hits you harder..so 1 is like 2...but..i'm weak these days.. in conclusion, if you must, get the crossroads, worth trying, not authentic but will be tasty enough to keep you full! read more

So I know they have this restaurant in Texas. But never tried it, so while I was in Denver I figure let's try it! Well at this location in particular the staff was young and seem not to care. The young lady that took the order didn't introduce me to the menu being it was my first time there. Not only that but she was sitting at the counter. Should have been a red flag but I had a flight to catch and figure since this place was close to the airport get them. I had to ask for them trashy because it wasn't offered. We've become so complacent with poor service because of COVID labor shortages. When Torchy's has 4 employees standing at the register laughing and having a great time for 10-15 minutes while the drink counter is covered with sticky pop, the utensils and lid stock completely empty, tables piled with trash and the tea empty, it has nothing to do with labor shortage. It has to do with poor management and poor workers. One of my favorite taco shops! I had been to one in Austin TX before so I was pretty excited to see one on this trip to Denver. I was not disappointed. I had the trailer trash tack and the republican taco and both were outstanding. They came out quick too for lunch time. If the timing is right for you they have 2 bars for in the restaurant also. Over all atmosphere was pleasant. Plenty of seating and the staff was very friendly. Places for everyone including families with children and adults that want to enjoy a beer, taco and the game. We stopped by Torchy's on the recommendation of a friend. The location is nice and not too far off of the highway. It was packed when we went and very loud. The menu was an interesting variety of tacos. We ordered the Chips & Salsa, Street Corn, Pork Green Chili, the Democrat and the Fried avocado. All of the items were decent but most of it lacked flavor and was rather bland even with the addition of salsa. The Fried Avocado taco was the best but the hardest to eat. It was rather large and kept falling apart but a great vegetarian option. I liked the red salsa that came with the chips order. The Maine Root Soda fountain was a great feature. If you look at my Yelp history and you'll see that I rarely give out a poor review and it breaks my heart that this is the place that gets it. Maybe I live too close and eat here too often but I'm just about over the service and inconsistency issues. Which is unfortunate because I would give the food four to five stars! We order out often and consistency is always an issue. I usually get a burrito and sometimes it has an appropriate amount of meat, sometimes it barely has any at all, and the last time it had almost all meat and the entire burrito was saturated in orange grease. Sometimes it has guac and sometimes it doesn't. When ordering tacos sometimes they are decent sized, sometimes scrawny and sometimes packed. The takeout experience has been poor. I have ordered a chicken quesadilla for my son three times. Three out of three times I got a cheese quesadilla despite paying extra for chicken. And now it's gotten to the point where my kids try to block us from ordering Torchy's. The last THREE takeout orders were both missing significant items meaning somebody had to go back and wait a ridiculous amount time to get the missing items so they could eat. And there seems to be issues around triaging orders. I Just ordered one order of chips and guacamole to go thinking I could just run in and grab some and leave. 25 minutes after ordering I am still sitting here waiting for my buzzer to buzz. There is not a shortage of staff because they are everywhere. It seems to be more of a result of a lack of systems and poor organization. Again the food is great and I would just love to see the service and consistency align because we are big fans. read more

Had the Trailer Park fried chicken taco and the Baja Shrimp. They were both very satisfying but I had a hard time squeezing the lime over my shrimp. Someone in the kitchen doesn't know how to cut lime wedges properly. Hubby ordered the Trailer Park "trashy" and the Democrat. He hated both of them. He said the queso for the Trailer Park taco was overwhelming and too heavy for the taco and the Democrat... he just simply stated: "this one is not good". I ordered catering for a large group of 45 people. Per Torchie's website I ordered enough food to feed well over that (3 party packs: 1 chicken fajita, 1 beef fajita, one pork), 2 party pack airstream salads (feeds 10 each) as well as extra fajita veggies, 2 party pack black beans, 2 party pack rice, and guac. This should feed well over approximately 60 people per their website recommendations. It did not even feed 45 (it only comfortably fed about 30). I drastically overestimated the need, spent more than $500, and it still was not enough food for our group's lunch. I understand that the information on Torchie's website was an estimate, but it was not even close. In addition to this, when I arrived to pick up the order I had to take about 4 separate car loads worth of food to my vehicle without an offer to help from an employee. This was awkward as the food was placed behind an operating register, so I had to cut through customers to get the giant catering bags for several trips. Overall, this was an underwhelming experience and I will not be ordering catering from Torchy's again. read more

I'm not into tacos. More so I'm not into tacos for breakfast. Two dear friends love tacos and especially from Torchys. On the way to the airport we did a pit stop. Torchys is pretty inside. I love their ceiling lights. So. You walk in. Order. You will be given a number. Go find your table and your food will be brought to your table. My friends ordered this cheese dip that was amazing. The green chili made this dip a lot more special. That special kick is there. It's tangible and yet not the in your face kind of kick that I don't appreciate. Ok. I got up and ordered the Baja Taco aka Shrimp Taco. This was after looking at my friends orders and saw the tacos are not soggy at all. First off, let me say the food is DELICIOUS. I've been to Torchy's about a hundred times and the Scalywag is by far the best taco of the month. We love for February- it's so yummy. With that said, this location REALLY NEEDS TO PURCHASE MORE HIGH CHAIRS! My husband and I have brought our toddler the past three times and have not been able to get a high chair which is a total pain. When I'm in this area I always try to eat at Torchy's. They have my favorite tacos! This particular location always seems to give you a robust taco, as compared to The Broadway or Arapahoe locations. There is parking on the street as well as in the parking lot, but it does seem to always be pretty full. The staff was very friendly. I even shared a little bit of history about the trailer on South Congress in Austin the birthplace of Torchy's, to my knowledge. There is indoor seating as well as outdoor seating. You can also order at the bar if the line is too long. One of my favorite drinks here is the Torchy's - tini. They do have a full bar including various beers and local taps. They have a full drink menu as well as call drinks. They also have a "taco of the month." In the month of August they have a taco each week which incrementally increase is in heat. read more

I assumed they had gotten my order right since I had never had a problem with Torchy's facilities in the past, so I didn't realize at first, but only once I took a bite, I realized it was a flour tortilla. Today, it took 20 minutes to make 5 tacos to-go. There were only about 10 occupied tables, so there wasn't an obvious reason for the delay.
