Enter a long hallway and then into a beat up elevator. Friendly staff at the top and very nice venue. I got their edomae select set (sashimi, aburi, and sushi). It was pretty disappointing. I've never seen such thin slices of salmon sashimi on an a la carte menu. The sushi also didn't have long enough fish pieces to extend past the rice. I expected more from a fancy restaurant inside Yorkdale and affiliated with Miku. I've been to Miku a handful of times and I've always been pleased. They advertise accessible premium sushi, but I'd rather pay a higher price if needed to get an actual premium meal. The set was $32. I've had better for less. I also ordered their wagyu truffle sukiyaki. Now that was delicious! However, presentation seemed a little flat. If I were to come back, I'd probably just stick to the Aburi Hana collabs (wagyu truffle sukiyaki, lobster aosa tempura, aburi hotate nigiri, and tuna tataki salad, aburi tuna belly nigiri).
I visited when they first opened and just realized I never wrote a review. In general, it's a nice sit down area after a long day of shopping, however, it does get pricey as each dish is individually priced. Service was ok, I think we only got served twice because we sat near the window, not that many servers would walk towards the kitchen to take away the plates. We got over 10 dishes (didn't take picture of them all) but we weren't that full. Overall, the sushi were relatively smaller (little rice) but the fish were fresh. The hot dishes were small especially the eel chirashi lol. You could finish it in one bite haha. I think the most impressive were the tuna tataki and udons. The bill came close to $100 for lunch, so if you want some cheap eats, this is definitely not the place for you.

We went shortly before it opened. Ambiance： 5/5 - the seating area is large, bright and spacious. The booth seats are also spacious. The seats are really comfy. Service: 5/5 - For a lunch time on a Friday, there are a lot of customers. They greeted us warmly. Once you enter, you have to go up an elevator to the front. They briefly explained the layout and the menu. The conveyer belt sushi delivery is fun. Everytime I hear it, I keep wondering if it's our order. When your order is arriving, it actually announces on Food: 4/5 - we ordered a lot of sushi. We ordered: -yam fries -sockeye salmon maki -aburi atlantic salmon -atlantic salmon nigiri -atlantic salmon sashimi -shiromi shio lemon trio: not too sure the lemon added much to the flavour profile -o-toro nigiri -truffle lobster nigiri: I really like this one. Took my family on boxing day for a post-xmas sushi treat. This time I realized that the conveyor belts do come to tables! When I first came I thought they were all just for single seaters so I thought it would be such an introverted experience as we wouldn't be able to face our family or share food. But I just realized it was only the first row that was single seaters, and behind there are tables! Perfect! It is kinda cool to have the food come to you on the belts, and it moves pretty quickly too. The food was delicious once again - i love all of the aburi sushi. My parents loved it here too, they said it was the best sushi they've ever had. The service was very good, friendly, polite, warm, accomodating. This is a place where the food is worth the money and everything is delicious! Can't wait to come back!
This spot doesn't take reservations, but you can hop on the waitlist through Yelp. We only waited about 15 minutes before getting seated. The restaurant was busy, the staff were friendly, but the water situation was... questionable. The tap water poured for us tasted normal, but the bottled tap water they leave at the table tasted oddly salty both times (we asked for another bottle). Maybe soap residue, maybe not cold enough, who knows, but it was definitely off. The sushi selection was solid. Everything tasted fresh with no fishy aftertaste. The blowtorched items were beautifully charred and the seasoning was on point. The only downside was the rice. It was extremely mushy and most pieces fell apart the moment they hit the soy sauce. One even crumbled before anyone touched it. Our favorites were the Hokkaido scallops, aburi salmon, and unagi. The scallops with a squeeze of lemon were so refreshing, the salmon was a decent cut, and the unagi was perfectly cooked. Overall, we enjoyed our visit. Just wish the rice and water didn't try to sabotage the experience, lol.
Great restaurant at Yorkdale mall for Japanese fare. A bit of a wait, but you're in luck if you use Yelp! You can place yourself on the waitlist and be advised when your table is ready!! Obviously the food arriving via the conveyor belt is the star of the show at this restaurant. Spacious booths and decent food, everything you need for a Friday night!
I've been curious about this restaurant for a while and finally decided to check it out for an early dinner since I was at Yorkdale. At 5:30 pm the restaurant wasn't busy, so we were seated right away without reservations. The restaurant has limited service as you are required to order everything through a tablet at the table (except for tea and alcohol), and the food arrives via the conveyor belt. While the experience was novel and fun, the quality of the food was a bit underwhelming for me. I've had better sushi elsewhere for the price point. The restaurant has an airy and modern feel, and is located on the second floor which requires you to take an elevator up, also making it wheelchair accessible. The hostess and servers were also friendly. Overall, it's worth trying once for the experience, but I wouldn't go back for the food alone.
I come here almost all the time to dine whenever I am at Yorkdale. And almost always I always manage to stay within my 100$ budget but today I wanted to try a few different dishes thát I normally wouldn't try. I love everything. I don't even have negative feedback or areas for room for improvement. I always love coming back here and it's one of my first picks to eat at the mall. To order your food your have to select it ơn a screen and then the conveyor belt delivers straight to your table. It is a bit high end but you can still show up with sweats and a T-shirt... I honestly would come in jeans and a nice top. It's a lovely place for a first date, or for a family meal.
First time here. Suggestion is to use the Yelp app to get in line long before getting there. Otherwise, you are in for a long wait at peak time. Is it worth the wait? I think so. We've been to many sushi restaurants in Toronto, and there are plenty of places that does sushi better than here, but we'd also been spending a lot more to eat what we ate. As for service, TBH, we weren't expecting much service as everything would be delivered by precision concept delivery. However, the staff were great making sure we are well taken care of. I think the 20% tips we gave should speak volumes for a "self-serve" style restaurant like this.
Located in Yorkdale! Unique experience for sushi. Food: Sushi was great but not mind blowing. Quite expensive and not filling. Try the blue fin tuna. Service: The sushi comes on a conveyor belt. Only need service if it's alcohol. Ambiance: Nice restaurant, located in Yorkdale where most restaurants have a good ambiance. Family friendly. Won't be back as I've experienced better, but recommended if you want to try a unique dining experience.
So many Tiktoks were talking about this spot calling it a conveyor belt sushi so I wanted to try it since I missed that experience from Asia. So I was expecting a restaurant similar to Kura Sushi in Japan where sushi dishes sit on a circular conveyor belt and you grab them as you wish. Instead, Tora has a ipad at each table which you order from and then when it's ready, as opposed to a server bringing it to your table, it's sent via a belt beside your table. FOOD (4/5) We ordered a variety of sashimi, nigiri, oshi, and appetizers. Everything tasted really fresh and didn't have any fishiness. The sushi rice is mildly sweetened which is an interesting touch. Highly recommend the oshi samplers, comes in a set of 3 different aburi oshis that have a pack of flavour and don't need any soysauce. The brussel sprout appetizer was a great shareable that is lightly salted and seasoned with what tasted like masala. The beef tataki was a bit more disappointing since the beef lacked flavour. However the crispy onions and the sesame dressed salad it came with was super flavourful. DRINKS (5/5) We ordered one of each signature cocktail; a peach one, a lychee one, and a pomegranate white grape one. All were really refreshing, sweet, fruity, and delicious. However the pom white grape one was PHENOMENAL - hands down recommend as the best drink there and also available as a mocktail! Note you have to flag down a server to order any alcoholic drinks. EXPERIENCE (3/5) Not a category I usually write about, but this is a major component to your meal - or at least it is seemingly marketed. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor and you enter via an elevator connected to the inside of Yorkdale mall. As mentioned above, each table has an iPad you order from and it then gets conveyored over to you on the belt. However...the iPad is on a fixed mount and doesn't even swivel making it difficult for everyone at the table to browse and order. The system only allows you to add 4 items to the cart at a time before you have to commit and place the order. I understand this is to manage chef workload into batches and also controls over-ordering but it makes the ordering experience a bit fragmented. VALUE (4/5) Prices are a bit on the higher end but the quality of ingredients generally is reflected in the food. Part of the mark up I presume is for the conveyor belt novelty and being located in Yorkdale Mall. AMBIENCE (4/5) The interior felt modern and clean and fitting for the dining experience. There are windows to the outside and also overlooking the mall hallways. OVERALL (4/5) I think Tora is a great option for a small get together with friends to enjoy good quality sashimi, aburi oshi, and tasty cocktails. There is the slight novelty of the conveyor belt, but it is still a-la-carte ordering albeit delivered to the table more creatively. I think the novelty is a fun talking point and a nice switch up to conventional dine in sushi options.
I recently visited TORA and really enjoyed the experience. The ordering system is tablet-based, which makes it super easy to browse the menu and see photos of each item before ordering. One of my favorites was the Kaisen Chirashi. It came with assorted fish, salmon roe, shiso leaf, sushi rice, and green onion. The fish tasted fresh, the portion felt reasonable for the price, and the presentation was clean and appetizing. Overall, the restaurant had a modern vibe, service was smooth, and food came out fairly quickly. If you enjoy sushi and sashimi bowls, this is definitely a spot worth trying!
First time dining here! Cindy, our server was so nice and super attentive even when occupied 10/10 for her service. We started off with some classics. Aburi Salmon Oshi, O-Toro, Brussels sprouts, Aburi. Hokkaido Scallop, Aburi atlantic salmon oshi, wagyu truffle sukiyaki. All were very good, but standouts have to be O-toro and Wagyu Truffle sukiyaki! It's cool how the food comes out of a conveyer belt but you can only order 4 at a time. It comes very fast! I was really suprised at the O-toro, because it was really good quality and portion, I've had an other omakases and it's pretty up to par! We got virgin lychee sangria, super refreshing! and for dessert milk crepe cake and matcha mochi. I would skip the milk crepe cake to be honest as it tasted a bit hard and too much cream. Located upstairs and they do have wait times during the weekend for dinner so beware of that as they don't take reservations! Nice restaurant to come eat at after shopping at yorkdale. Ambiance is a little fancy, but don't need to dress up. They offer 10 percent on the app as well.
The best torched sushi around! We found this hidden gem upstairs in the mall and ever since our first visit, we could not stop thinking about it. The resto uses a special recipe for their sushi rice, so the flavour is very memorable and enhanced. We love the laneway system-- it's efficient, fun to use, and makes good entertainment. The servers are very professional and polite, making sure you have everything you need, especially if you're not sure how to go about eating some of the more creative menu items. We will be back! read more

Tora (also known as Aburi Tora) specializes in the train style Japanese sushi. You order via a tablet on the table, and the food comes to you via a conveyor belt. Unlike the more traditional train sushi, the food here is made fresh to order. Using the tablet is easy - it is relatively intuitive to navigate. There are a variety of dishes you can choose from - sushi, sashimi, hot dishes, cold dishes, etc. However, Tora is known for their more premium seafood like toro, unagi, etc. I enjoyed the scallion toro, the rolls, and the scallop sushi. The seafood was fresh, and the hot food like the chicken wings were good. The soy sauce and wasabi also tasted quite premium (I felt like they used real wasabi). The only thing I would say is that their salt dishes are quite salty. I would stick to the tare flavor if you don't like overly salty food. Price is relatively more expensive than other sushi places, but that's to be expected given that this restaurant is in Yorkdale mall, and is quite novel. I don't think it was unreasonable, but expect to spend 40+ per person. Overall, a fun place to visit. Service was fast, efficient and friendly. read more

The first 2 times I went here, it was great. One of my favourite sushi places. What took the aburi to another level was the smokiness. My boyfriend who normally doesn't like aburi, liked it a lot. The 3rd time I came here, the aburi didn't have as strong of a smoky flavour (it was still good, but the first 2 times were amazing). The fish tastes really fresh here, especially the scallops. We ordered a lot of them MUST orders: aburi red prawn (my absolute favourite), aburi salmon toro, unagi, Hokkaido scallop nigiri (the one with no lemon and salt) and aburi tuna. 2nd tier but still good: amberjack nigiri, yellow tail nigiri DON'T BOTHER: rolls, squid was very tough, maki is just a good filler, aburi hotate ryu (Michelin one tasted interesting - weird combination) read more
There was a long stretch of time where conveyor-belt sushi just was not available in the GTA, so I got pretty excited when I learned that a new conveyor-belt restaurant opened in Yorkdale mall. We arrived a few minutes before they opened on a recent Saturday and were eventually shown to a spacious booth. This is one of those places where you order everything via tablet, so we placed an order for several items and then waited. Within minutes, our first item arrived on the conveyor belt. It was pretty cool. And the sushi was good, too. It's hardly the best sushi I've ever eaten, but it was fresh and extremely tasty. We were ultimately in and out of the place within about 20 minutes, so Tora is definitely a good option if you're in a hurry. I'll almost certainly be returning. read more
Feels like this restaurant is overrated. Based my exp, the food wasn't that delicious, just really soso. Not fresh and overpriced. Tbh, I don't care about the conveyor-belt sushi exp, it's common in Japan. What matters to me is the sushi quality. Unless you're looking for a unique experience and don't really care the taste, I suggest saving your money for a trip to Japan or Asia. The black sesame cheesecake was the best dish. The staff were generally friendly. read more
Tora always delivers on quality while being not too expensive, which is why I'm a regular customer! The rice has great texture and the torched fish/sauce in addition, is mouthwatering. I have dined in person which was a fun experience with the conveyer belt but takeout is just as good! I love their aburi sushi including the vegetable version, but Salmon Oshi in particular. I would recommend this place if you're looking for a new spot to try or like torched sushi! read more

First time trying this place. Suggested you making a reservation ahead especially at dinner time as they could get busy that you may need to wait for 30mins+. Food wise they are not bad for what you are paying. You order via the pad with pictures, and the food comes from the conveyor belt for some seating. Overall, it's a decent place to dine in for some decent sushi. read more
Come here because you wanted to check out a conveyor belt restaurant experience without leaving Toronto. Come here because Yorkdale's food court is jam packed. I'll address the first part: yes food comes to you by a conveyor belt system next to your table, but it's not a rotation of dishes you pick off of like in a lot of such places in Japan (or like Fune, the downtown restaurant that offers that same concept but with a canal of boats carrying plates). Rather, you order a la carte through a tablet mounted on your table and your food once prepared arrives via conveyor stopping in front of you so you know it's your order and not the guy next to you. Oh so high tech. There still is table service, servers mainly attending to things like beverage orders and condiments top-up... basically anything you'd expect from a restaurant except bringing you food and taking your order. You're not shown how to use the screen though (even after answering "yes" to "Is it your first time here?"), though I found the tablet easy to use. I had originally thought Tora was going to be an elevated type of dining experience despite the conveyor belt service novelty. Yes it's elevated... literally it's upstairs. And yes it's elevated... the food that is, much of its unique and premium offerings differing from your run-of-the-mill corner AYCE sushi place, including their signature Aburi flame-seared sushi (which you should try at least one thing Aburi style while on your visit), with the elevated prices to boot. But otherwise it's not a dressy place--you can drop by while shopping and they have a whole row of seating set up for singletons with individual tablets, and takeout is also available. C'mon Yorkdale. Getting here is a tad challenging: it's by Restoration Hardware and Sporting Life, and you have to take a dedicated elevator up. The tablet menu and conveyor belt service adds a bit of a fun novelty to the experience, but one can also get carried away with their orders as the orders pile on. Our entire meal averaged $25/person. The system also only allows up to four selections per order before you have to send it off to order more stuff. Some standout items include the Aburi ebi oshi and salmon sets (creamy and smokey are such an interesting flavour combination), scallion and yellowtail Maki, and octopus nigiri. We even inadvertently scored an extra dish that it seemed they forgot to check off they already fulfilled an order. Mom taken a liking to the crispy grilled brussel sprouts that came with our pork gyoza, crispy grilled flavour but also quite oily. Overall Tora isn't too bad a culinary diversion from mall shopping and a decent food option inside Yorkdale. Part novelty, part decent dining moments. read more

Food is excellent. For the price the ambience is underwhelming and expensive. Did you know their torched salmon is actually smoked salmon? Nowhere in their menu do they say that. But I just watched a YouTube video demonstrating how they do it and they use smoked salmon! Not sushi grade or raw fish! Seems a little sneaky. Service was ok. Not much to expect. Overall the food is good but the price is on the pricier side for a place that doesn't serve Michelin-style food or service. read more

The food was amazing and the service was great. The ambiance was laid back and was good for a family oriented dining experience. Not the most upscale or refined place I've been at, but it was a very pleasant casual dining experience overall. Despite being a little pricey compared to many other Sushi places, I would highly recommend this place for the excellent food. Make sure you plan ahead and make a reservation in advance though. We had to wait about an hour as a walk-in. The app notification made it easier to wait - we were able to walk around Yorkdale mall until our table was ready. read more

I have been here multiple times with my family and friends and always brought someone different each time. They have sushi delivered via a conveyor belt after you order food on the stationary screen. Food was absolutely delicious and on the pricier side. They don't do reservations here so walk-in only. They'll take down your contact information and you have 5mins once you receive your text to come in. They have seatings for bar area or dining area. I will be coming here again for sure! read more
I had some time to kill near Yorkdale mall so I decided to quickly drop by for lunch. Came at around 1, and the restaurant was not busy at all. I was very quickly seated and my orders came out lightning fast, which was perfect since I didn't have much time. I got my favorites which are the salmon oshi and aburi salmon. The oshi is one of my favorites out of all the other sushi places I've tried. The salmon is seared but not overly cooked, so it doesn't taste like I'm just eating cooked salmon. The aburi salmon is nice and the onion really helps to balance the mayo. I also got the gyoza which was really juicy, much better than most. Price wise expect to pay a premium. I spent around 25 dollars on this and there wasn't nearly enough to fill me up. That's okay though since I just wanted something small to tie me over and the food was delicious. If you're looking to get lunch here, I suggest also getting some rice and one of the hot dishes. The place itself has a very modern chic to it, and the conveyor belt gives a nice gimmick that also doubles as a faster way of getting your order. Food will often arrive just a couple minutes after ordering which is great for trying different things. Overall lunch was good and if I'm ever in the area I'll probably pop in for a quick bite. read more

Came here for lunch during a Sunday shopping trip. To start, the food is excellent. I recommend ordering the Michelin inspired dishes. I ordered the Lobster with the Uni dish. It was spectacular. Other recommendations I have is the Aburi sushi's, can't go wrong with any of those choices. As for the place itself, it is slightly harder to get to if you don't know where to look. They're located on the second floor and to get there, you'll need to take an elevator. The elevator may be hard to spot, it's near one of the mall entrance in a hallway. Look for the restaurant sign and a screen showcasing the restaurant. The inside has a lot of space when we came. For the service, there's not much service to be honest. You order from the tablet on the table. The food comes to you via a "conveyor belt". Getting the bill is also easy by hitting a button on the tablet. So I guess, great job Mr. Tablet? Overall, good place to go for sushi if you're in Yorkdale mall. read more
