And the store is always clean and they try to refill everything they can as fast as they can but if it gets too busy I don't mind. The place can get really busy but it always feels welcoming. It's bright and has a lot of flavors but if you come too late sometimes they don't have a lot, or they've run out. The ambiance of the place has never deterred me away. I stopped by Top's Yogurt right before closing and still had a great experience. I got the milk chocolate yogurt and honestly it was so good. Definitely my favorite flavor. I added cookies and cream, waffle crumbs, and the little gummy worms because I wanted something a little sour, and everything tasted really good together. My girlfriend got the vanilla yogurt with M&M's and that one was really good too. Sadaf helped us out and she was super nice. She let us try samples, recommended some flavors and sizes, and made the experience even better. The place was really clean and welcoming, and I love that they stay open later than most dessert spots. I've been coming here since I was a kid, so it's nice seeing this family-owned place still around. Definitely coming back again to try more flavors. read more

It was pretty busy inside when we arrived, so I was excited thinking that this spot was good! However, upon arriving I quickly found out the reason for so many people is that it took far too long to get samples. An employee has to get the samples for you, and the employee helping me wasn't accustomed to pouring out samples. It got all over her fingers and it was disgusting and unhygienic. I should've refused the sample but I felt bad. I tried two other samples and the same thing happened -- yogurt all over her fingers. I tried to only taste the parts that did not touch her hands. After providing me samples, she did not wash her hands and helped other customers. This whole experience felt very unsanitary and I did not enjoy it at all. I also don't understand the need for the employees having to pour out samples. I have never experienced that at any other frozen yogurt spot and it made the store feel really cheap. It also was not efficient at all. I love trying out smaller businesses, but in this case I would've rather gone to a chain nearby. I would not come here again. There is majority fruity flavors, which were okay. The flavors weren't as strong as I was expecting. I went with the cookies and cream, which was solid. The only plus is that I liked how there is a wide variety of toppings. But with the toppings being in such large containers, I wonder how often they change out the toppings and if they only top it off when it gets low, rather than also taking the older toppings out from the bottom. read more

It was a little pricier compared to Gunther's, but it is worth it because we don't need to drive as far to downtown. We got a fruit freeze with pineapple and strawberry. It was so refreshing and delicious! They also gave a cool spoon they changes color when it gets cold. Tops Yogurt offers a wide range of frozen yogurt flavors, and toppings. Tops Yogurt has been established for many many years and I finally checked them out =D. There are 14 flavors of frozen yogurts to choose from. It is self serve. It is $0.74 an oz. After selected the yogurts, there are also many different toppings to choose from. Warm sauces, fruits, nuts, candies, etc. The more you add to your cup, the most it will cost. Usually after a family dinner or on a nice summer afternoon, I frequent this location. It's been around for years, but I've only been going here probably for the past 6-7. The various Froyo (Frozen Yogurt) selections are a hit, and in the past have had a tropical flavor only during the Summer which happens to be my favorite. I like to keep it simple with either chocolate Froyo or the tropical flavor in the summer, a fruit syrup and berries. While my boys like to go all out and fancy it up. More recently this particular Tops has started popular Gunther's Ice Cream flavors, so instead of the standard Froyo. I get my favorite Gunther's 50/50 Ice Cream/Fruit Freeze combo of Chocolate Ice Cream, Strawberry Freeze and Raspberry Freeze. So as you get to and get through the chocolate, you begin to get a Chocolate Strawberry and Chocolate Raspberry flavor...if you have had that yet, it's definitely a must try. read more

Sketchy pricing. We went there for Gunther's ice cream and we got 2, 2 scopes for $8.98 +tax each and then we got a 3 scope for $20.67 +tax even tough the sign said 3 scopes were $11.75. So we asked why and she said the sign was indicating the price for junior scopes and we didn't specify junior scopes, so supposedly she gave us regular scopes. The scopes are literally the same size between all of our cups and their signs doesn't show anywhere a difference between junior or regular scopes. Definitely never going back there read more

Needs more staff I came in for Gunther's, was told they needed a minute they looked like they were going to faint. Which I understood that's fine take your time it was hot in there. About 5 mins pass people are coming in for the froyo so a line is forming, the worker came out and said the same to the other people. I've been going here for years and the service and yogurt quality has stayed consistent. There are many yogurt selections and an abundance of toppings to choose from, like syrups, popping boba, fruit, etc. My favorite flavors are Euro tart and New York cheesecake. When I arrived at the place, it was very, very dirty. I got myself some frozen yogurt and went to get some toppings. I was about to get some M&Ms but I saw a cockroach walking in the pile. So I skipped the toppings and went to pay. The worker was nice at least. I remember visiting this location when it first opened and chatting with the owners back then. My brother came to town to visit during Thanksgiving so we took our parents out for lunch on Monday. Stopped by Tops Yogurt, which was fun. Tons of flavors to try. Loved the pineapple, the chocolate, the eurotart, the blueberry tart, and the fun toppings. 3 cups cost us about $23 which is pricey but seems less than the Rocklin Tops Yogurt? My brother pointed to the fresh fruits and said a lot of the fruits were rotting but still in the containers. I said that a lot of times business owners are unwilling to trash mushy fruit because it cuts into their profits. And probably unsuspecting teenagers would care if their strawberries were mushy. So as a result, we did not add any fresh fruit in our cups. Pricey but fun! read more

It is a self serve froyo joint which is fun! Just a little janky inside and only a little outdoor seating. The service is just alright but the cashiers always do their job. I have to mention, there was a few families together who were not watching their toddler going into the candy, putting it into its mouth, and when we told the parents, the parent put that candy back into the serving container! When listening to podcasts and reading books on parenting, I often notice that a lot of advice is provided surrounding how you can encourage your child to continue to explore and learn as they grow. However, there is very little mention of how children influence us adults to explore. Since third graders are at the age of wanting to utilize their independence, my son and his friend arranged a play date (unbeknownst to some of the parents) at Tops Yogurt. My first question to my son was: "Out of all places, why a yogurt shop?" I personally have never been to a yogurt shop and have never had the urge to do so (I usually stick to cookies as my naughty treat). His response, "Daddy, you can't say that you don't like it if you haven't tried it." I had no rebuttal for his logical statement, so off to Tops Yogurt we went! When we walked in we were kindly greeted by an employee behind the cash register. My son instructed me to grab a cup, fill it with a yogurt of my liking (I chose peanut butter), and start adding my toppings (I chose Reese's peanut butter chunks, and blueberries-to make it "healthy"). After being satisfied with our selections, we proceeded to the cashier who weighed our cups. Although I'm not a huge fan of yogurt, I think the experience alone was fun and ironically made me feel like a kid again. Tops Yogurt is clean (which is extremely important when you're dealing with a self-serve establishment), has fresh toppings, and has solid customer service. Tops is one of our families favorite yogurt spots that we can go to year-round. I can't go a lot of places because they don't have non-dairy. Tops usually has at least one-two flavors of non-dairy. I do wish they would expand it to more. I'm not really a pineapple person but it was pretty good when I tried it. Then there's about six of the regular flavors. They also have Gunther's ice cream and fruit freezes which are great especially on a hot summer day. It's located in a small plaza with other establishments so parking can be packed if it's busy. They have a variety of toppings for the fruit lovers to the candy addicts to the nut crackers . I've seen kids stick their hands in the little bins to eat the candy so beware. I take from the higher ones . The price is based on the weight so keep that in mind when your piling on the toppings. The place is usually clean. The staff is nice and helpful. I had a really disappointing experience at Tops Yogurt and will not be returning. The employee handling my order was taking cash and then immediately scooping ice cream and touching everything with the same unwashed hands. No gloves and no hand washing in between handling money and preparing food, which is a serious hygiene concern. I also personally saw the employee grabbing fruit straight from the container and putting it directly into customers' cups without washing it or using gloves. Watching food being handled like that was honestly really unsettling. On top of that, my order wasn't made correctly. I asked for a Gunther's 50/50 freeze with light freeze and extra vanilla ice cream in the middle. The employee said yes, but when I received it there was barely any vanilla and the cup wasn't even filled up. Between the lack of hygiene and the incorrect order, the whole experience was very disappointing. I won't be coming back. Pretty disgusting. read more

I haven't had Tops since high school and last night my husband was craving frozen yogurt. They have a huge variety of flavors - from sweet to target to decadent. The topping options were also unlimited. Lots of chocolates, candies, fruits, cookies, etc. I had their pineapple and pomegranate yogurts and they were both tart with a hint of sweetness. The toppings seem to be always fresh and fully stocked. There is usually only one employee working at a time so sometimes the check out process can be slow and the store can be a little messy. The yogurt is always so good and the girl with the red hair was handling the crazy rush like a total pro. She was so polite and knowledgeable and FAST and the black guy in the gray t-shirt must've been new or something cause he was SO hostile while ringing us up, and when we asked for lids they needed to get more so the redhead sent him and he couldn't tell the difference between sizes I guess and spoke to her SO disrespectfully and didn't even give us our lids he went back to doing absolutely nothing while she gave us our lids and made some desserts for another guest. Give that girl a raise for her hard work and etiquette and retrain the guy she was working with on respect and guest service. read more

Even though this is a froyo place, I usually only come when I'm craving a 50/50 and don't feel like driving out of Elk Grove. There are a few places that serve 50/50s in Elk Grove but this is the only one I know of that has guava flavor of Gunther's fruit freeze. They have the most flavor selection actually, and a lot of Gunther's ice cream options even though I usually just go with vanilla or banana. I also like their variety of size options because the other places around here have one size only, and sometimes I want a large! They pack in the fruit freeze and ice cream to give a generous portion too, even in the small size cup. read more
