There's always something social going on (burpees and paddleboarding? Yes, please but not together). Parking is a breeze (shocking for Long Beach, I know), and the fact that Trader Joe's is right here? Peak efficiency. The coaches--Sydney, Christine, Fernando, Ashley, and Stephanie--are like my fitness fairy godparents: encouraging, eagle-eyed, and genuinely invested in your progress. Bonus points: showers on-site for that post-sweat rinse, the magical InBody machine to track gains, and fresh towels that feel like little cotton hugs. When I first started, I couldn't manage more than three sad little push-ups. Now? Let's just say I've upgraded to "push-up show-off." The space is spotless, the vibe is right, and these are 100% my people. I feel strong, supported, and totally hooked.

It's sandwiched between a diner and a tailor shop, posted up like a humble Mecca for the most athletic to the just starting out folks (like myself). A frequently used excuse why people don't do CrossFit is because it's too hard on your body. It's true that if you do any of the movement wrong you'll probably pull a muscle but this gym is special. The instructors will teach you the right way to move and not hurt yourself. Great gym. Give it a try.

He's energetic, magnetic, knowledgeable, funny, and just genuinely great at what he does. We always look forward to his classes. He's been such a steadfast presence at OT, and at this point it honestly wouldn't feel the same without him. He knows how to push you while still keeping the room fun, positive, and engaging. We've also been lucky to have some other incredible coaches along the way. Coach Alex is always inspiring and has a way of making you think beyond just the workout, whether it's asking what your word for the quarter is or what you're intentionally working toward in life. Coach Ibby's energy is unmatched. She can instantly pump up the room while also giving really detailed, helpful technical guidance on the weight floor. The front desk team deserves a shoutout too. They're always friendly, welcoming, and help create the positive, fun vibe that has kept us coming back all these years. After a decade, we're really grateful to have Orangetheory as such a consistent part of our lives and for the role it's played in keeping us healthy, active, and motivated.

Looking for a new fitness challenge, I decided to try an introductory class at Club Pilates. Registering was a breeze. My correspondence with the staff was solely via text message, and everything was handled quickly & efficiently. I was asked if I had any injuries, what my goal was, and reminded to bring grip socks, which are also available for sale. Inside Club Pilates, the studio was clean & inviting. Michael was the Pilates instructor, and he was full of energy & pep, which made for a pleasant experience. I thought I'd have a difficult time, especially with my tight hips/hamstrings, but I championed through the introductory class like a boss. Even increasing the difficulty several times. My thighs were burning, but I attributed that to heavy squats, earlier in the day. The pumping music, at just the right volume level, helped boost our mood the whole while. Overall, I had a fun & rewarding class at Club Pilates. I stressed muscles I usually don't hit at the gym, and increased my flexibility. I felt great, and look forward to experiencing the other classes they offer.
