Motivating coaches, plenty of classes, fun community, challenging workouts!…read more I've been at CF LosAl now for 6 months and dropped into quite a few other CF boxes, and I can say with confidence that CF Los Al is a cut above. For context, my very first workout I didn't even finish. I was so intimidated by the running, I was completely out of breath, and I had no idea what "clean and Jerk" or "power snatch" meant. We were supposed to run 400m but I just ran 200m. We were supposed to use barbells and I just used dumbbells. We were supposed to do 4 rounds and I just did 2.5 rounds. I was exhausted and unbearably sore the next day, and the 3 days following. I decided to go out on a limb and try the first three months and sign up even though it was more expensive than I was comfortable with, but I wanted the motivation and to go out of my comfort zone. The coaches Dave, James, Larry, Taylor, Daniel, Madi, and others were all incredibly supportive of me being a beginner at CrossFit and made sure to explain everything carefully since I didn't know the lingo. They answered my questions patiently and encouraged me to push myself. After a month I tried to go every other day and it was brutal, and after two months I started going 6 days per week and have enjoyed every moment! I lost 50 lbs and gained confidence I never did at a normal gym like 24 hour or la fitness, and I PR'd by a significant amount in every single exercise. I'm the fittest and strongest and most confident that I've ever been, and I owe so much to the community and coaches here at CrossFit Los Al! Can't recommend more!!

Over the years I have gone from personal training, competing in CrossFit, coaching it and now managing a gym. No CrossFit gym is the same, so always do your research. I have been to many gyms and I can say that CrossFit Los Al is a great gym to be a part of. I remember the first time I went to Los Al, I actually looked back to see when it was (116 weeks ago via Instagram). It was early in the morning and I was immediately welcomed. When I was foam rolling and stretching before class, members came up and introduced themselves and the coaches were very welcoming. We were put through a great warm up and lead through the class from start to finish. I have been back multiple times since and it has always been a pleasant experience. The staff is friendly and genuinely cares about people. You are more than a dollar sign. This stuff isn't about a quick fix to get that summer body, it is a lifestyle to develop and help you become better versions of yourself. You will be taken care of and treated like an individual. You can take my word for it, but I highly recommend you go in and see for yourself.

I don't wanna drop the name of the organization that hooked me up with this CrossFit place because everyone might just start showing up! JP! It's called "the phoenix app" it's a recovery sober app and organization that hosts free events all week and weekend you can attend and it's free! Overall, we started and got right into the workouts! The last and hardest workout to do was the walk jog and run 4x back to back 1 min each time! That was tough on me. But overall very friendly people and nice setting!

Noticing a previous 1 star comment regarding safety concerns and racial remarks; I felt the need to…read morecomment myself. I used to be a regular at CrossFit Recoil for a number of years, and I can honestly say because of this, I was in the best shape of my life. But even better than that, I was able to develop lifelong friendships with many of the people that also attended. I no longer regularly go to Recoil any longer, but that's not due to anything the gym has done. Life and work with new demanding schedules, got busier and busier; and I'm not able to show up anymore than a pop in every few months or so. I do miss it. In regards to the previously mentioned safety concerns and racial comments....I've never had any issues with safety while at the gym. I've never seen any major issues with children or kids running under people while their lifting. If this individual had such great concerns over these alleged safety mishaps; why didn't he bring them to the attention of the owner/coach? Why did he continue to go? Hmmm. The fact that the coaches have children and bring them to the gym, is actually an endearing quality and brightens the days for most. A safety issue it is not. I've also known the coaches, who have been mainstays at this gym for years, for quite some time. I've NEVER heard anyone (or anyone else in the gym) utter anything like this previous poster had claimed. After reading it, it sounded more like a bitter individual with an axe to grind. More to the point...it sounds like straight up lies. All I can say, is that if choosing a gym, don't go based on what one unhappy person (who used to get high in the parking lot prior to workouts btw....sounds safe) posted. Show up and you'll see for yourself. There's a reason why the gym is growing and lots of the athletes have worked out there for years. The coaches are great, fun loving, good hearted, knowledgeable people. And the community aspect while at the gym is second to none. So swing by if you're thinking about switching gyms or trying CrossFit for the first time. You will not be disappointed.

There's always something social going on (burpees and paddleboarding? Yes, please but not together). Parking is a breeze (shocking for Long Beach, I know), and the fact that Trader Joe's is right here? Peak efficiency. The coaches--Sydney, Christine, Fernando, Ashley, and Stephanie--are like my fitness fairy godparents: encouraging, eagle-eyed, and genuinely invested in your progress. Bonus points: showers on-site for that post-sweat rinse, the magical InBody machine to track gains, and fresh towels that feel like little cotton hugs. When I first started, I couldn't manage more than three sad little push-ups. Now? Let's just say I've upgraded to "push-up show-off." The space is spotless, the vibe is right, and these are 100% my people. I feel strong, supported, and totally hooked.

I originally found this gym because of my trainer, Bob, and I'm so glad I did. Metroflex is definitely old-school but in the best way possible. It's not overcrowded, there's room to actually train, and you're not fighting for equipment like you do at commercial gyms. What I love most is that they literally have everything: powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, bodybuilding, CrossFit-style training, boxing, you name it. No matter what type of training you're into, this gym has the equipment and the space to support it. Coming from a commercial gym where it was always packed, limited machines, and chaotic, this place was a breath of fresh air. The vibe here is different. Everyone is welcoming, friendly, and actually there to work. Another huge plus: this gym is always open even on holidays. Hours might be a little shorter on a holiday, but they're still open, which means you can always get your workout in. That alone says a lot about how much they care about their members. It's hard to find a gym that checks all the boxes, but Metroflex really does. If you're serious about training and want a gym that feels like a community instead of a zoo, this is the spot.
