The Indonesian fried chicken and fried rice was the stand-out dishes I got. Not to mention the sauce they give you with the fried chicken. Mix that with the chili sauce and it's amazing. Get extra sauce!! The fried chicken was definitely crispy and juicy. Bonus points to the girl at the counter who packed my food and said not to close the container so it doesn't get soggy. I go here nearly every week with my gaming group before we play at Odyssey across the street and they NEVER disappoint. Lily is an absolute delight working the counter and is always happy to help and get you what you want. The food has been good after trying nearly every category on the menu. Top Restaurant has my favorite plate lunches outside of Hawai'i. Without a doubt, their loco moco is better than any I've had in California and better than even some places back on O'ahu. The rich brown gravy is super flavorful and the burgers have a nice char. When I was growing up, I would order all rice because I didn't like Mac salad, but after leaving I've definitely developed a taste for it, and Top Restaurant's is very good. I also love their chicken cutlet, since they are one of the few places that have it as an actual menu item. Chicken cutlet is chicken katsu, but with gravy on top. It's sooo heavy and decadent in a good ways. Super tasty gravy goes so well with the chicken. We also really love their crispy fried chicken. It is super juicy and has a unique crunch. I wish they had more regularly cut up pieces because it always seems like there's a ton of bones, but that's a minor quibble. The only food we had that was a little disappointing was the fried oxtail plate. It didn't have a lot of flavor or meat and was pretty expensive. I'd skip that, but I still want to try the oxtail soup or oxtail fried rice. It's take out only as they don't have any tables inside. Service is always great here. The owner of the restaurant is so sweet. There are very few places I know of that serve good Hawaiian food in L.A. and this is one of them. The food here is made fresh to order. The rice is always made perfect, nice and sticky. The portion sizes are enormous and the price is right. My favorite items to get are the loco moco and the BBQ mix. I was a bit disappointed when one of my favorite Pasadena spots was highlighted on Instagram as my secret spot was now no longer a secret. Hands down one of the best fried chicken I've had. It's different from your Popeyes and KFC. I'd consider it asian style fried chicken. Portions are generous and there's pretty much nothing we've ordered that we didn't like. Every time I have friends over for dinner, this is the spot they always request. The cherry on top is that the service is always fast and friendly. Came here today to pick up some take out! This place has been on my list for a while now and finally got a chance to stop by. I'm a big fan of the variety of foods they have - kind of a Hawaiian/Indonesian spot. They have their own lot so great props to that and is located new PCC. I ordered 2 spam masubis, 1 chicken katsu plate, 1 galbi plate, and 1 Indonesian fried rice. I liked all of the things I ordered. The spam masubis were definitely smaller than what I'm used to for the price you pay. Nevertheless, it was delicious and flavorful. The chicken katsu was probably my favorite of all of them. It was super crispy even after a 40 mins drive. The sauce they gave us wasn't the typical katsu sauce but more like a watery katsu/bbq sauce. It came with 2 scoops of rice and mac salad. You definitely get what you paid for. I wanted to really like the galbi plate but to me, that one fell short of my expectations. I prefer other Hawaiian bbq places to have a more charred version of the galbis and this place just didn't have that. The Indonesian fried rice was good but to me, nothing really wow-ed me about it. For some reasons, there were random noodles in my dish also (which I don't mind but I don't think it's suppose to belong there). All in all, a really good Hawaiian place if you're ever in the Pasadena area! I would definitely check this place out because there's parking also! However, the food was pretty good, especially the chicken katsu, which was the best that I've had so far. Chicken Katsu: this was the best plate here, the chicken Katsu was cooked to perfection and had the perfect balance of crispy and flavor. I could absolutely eat this without sharing with others! Indonesian Fried Egg Noodle (Mie Tek Tek): pretty flavorful noodles that I wouldn't mind getting again to share. Oseng Spicy Chicken Fried Rice: we decided to give this a try and it turned out pretty good. I wouldn't mind getting this again, but only to share. Kalua Pork: surprisingly, this was not good. We were not fans of the kalua pork and felt that the flavors were severely lacking. Overall, we had a good lunch here and everyone unanimously agreed that the chicken katsu was amazing. Okay, I haven't even finished my meal yet but I feel like I need to shout from the rooftops about how good Top is! I went in to order takeout, and asked the cashier if I should order their Indonesian fried rice (their popular item), or something else. She suggested that if I like spicy I need to try the Oseng Fried Rice, and to get the combo if I want to try a bit of everything (chicken, beef, shrimp). It is (not was - I'm still eating it) SO GOOD!! The protein is perfectly cooked, and the fried rice itself is so, so delicious. Their regular level spice is pretty spicy, so beware if you don't generally eat hot foods. They have awesome fried chicken ! I'd recommend you to try their crispy fried chicken. It was bomb! It's different style like other fried chicken like popeyes/kfc . It has some sweet flavoring to it that's different from any other fried chicken style. I think it's one of their signature as well. This place is a hidden gem! I happen to find it one day while waiting for my car to be serviced in the area. I love Hawaiian food and thought I'd give this place a try. It exceeded my expectations. The food is delicious. I've been here twice so far in the past month or so. I got the BBQ beef & chicken katsu plate on my first visit and a spam musubi which was delicious. The second visit I tried the Indonesian fried rice for the first time and it was amazing as well the fried chicken. The fried chicken is a must and was so tender on the inside but had a nice crunch on the outside. It came with a dipping sauce which was really flavourful. I highly recommend this place. While waiting in my car, I seen 5 Pasadena firefighters ordering food here so their food must be good. At 5:10pm, I was greeted by the friendly owner and chatted with her for few minutes. No new menus available yet. My food was already and I drove home. I didn't greet my hubby instead I had to take a first bite of Katsu. The katsu was crispy and flavorful and plentiful in size so 2 people can share it. The macaroni salad was yummy and the rice was cooked just right.
