This Hawaiian BBQ is the best! I bought the family meal pack. This meal fed a dimly of 5 with leftovers for lunch. First, the Katsu was amazing light and crunchy with flavor it also came with a light honey sauce. The Hawaiian bbq chicane was so good as well it wasn't overly flavorful. I am not a teriyaki person, I have to admit this was one of my favorites. It wasn't too sweet and the sauce was light and flavorful. I can't forget the Hawaiian macaroni salad which is so good. This is a pick up only place! Staff is very friendly, and is patient and will answer your questions if it's your first time visiting. We tried both the Hawaiian and Indonesian menu, and have to say that the Indonesian menu is definitely so much better!! The fried noodles have to be some of the best noodle dishes I've ever tasted. I really want to try the fried chicken, but they're always sold out! Another reviewer noted that they only make 40 something orders every day at a limit of 1 order per customer. Absolutely love this place. Very easy to call in a take out order. The Mrs. that runs the front is very sweet and makes me enjoy picking up from there. I have tried majority of items on the menu and everything has been fantastic. My go to's are BBQ beef, loco moco, kalua pork, or the BBQ mix. Cannot go there without getting the spam musubi either. Finally got a chance to try out this fried chicken that everyone has been raving about. The skin is crispy, I'll give it that. Maybe my mistake was telling them I would be right back. I figured I can take care of something else while they prepped my food. When I got back, they said my order was next. Mind you, I had been gone for 25 mins already. As I sat there waiting, I had to ask to see what happened to my order since I've been waiting another 25 mins since I've been back. Came here today to pick up some take out! This place has been on my list for a while now and finally got a chance to stop by. I'm a big fan of the variety of foods they have - kind of a Hawaiian/Indonesian spot. They have their own lot so great props to that and is located new PCC. I ordered 2 spam masubis, 1 chicken katsu plate, 1 galbi plate, and 1 Indonesian fried rice. I liked all of the things I ordered. The spam masubis were definitely smaller than what I'm used to for the price you pay. Nevertheless, it was delicious and flavorful. The chicken katsu was probably my favorite of all of them. It was super crispy even after a 40 mins drive. The sauce they gave us wasn't the typical katsu sauce but more like a watery katsu/bbq sauce. It came with 2 scoops of rice and mac salad. You definitely get what you paid for. I wanted to really like the galbi plate but to me, that one fell short of my expectations. I prefer other Hawaiian bbq places to have a more charred version of the galbis and this place just didn't have that. The Indonesian fried rice was good but to me, nothing really wow-ed me about it. For some reasons, there were random noodles in my dish also (which I don't mind but I don't think it's suppose to belong there). All in all, a really good Hawaiian place if you're ever in the Pasadena area! I would definitely check this place out because there's parking also! Chicken Katsu: this was the best plate here, the chicken Katsu was cooked to perfection and had the perfect balance of crispy and flavor. I could absolutely eat this without sharing with others! Indonesian Fried Egg Noodle (Mie Tek Tek): pretty flavorful noodles that I wouldn't mind getting again to share. Oseng Spicy Chicken Fried Rice: we decided to give this a try and it turned out pretty good. I wouldn't mind getting this again, but only to share. Kalua Pork: surprisingly, this was not good. We were not fans of the kalua pork and felt that the flavors were severely lacking. Overall, we had a good lunch here and everyone unanimously agreed that the chicken katsu was amazing. I went in to order takeout, and asked the cashier if I should order their Indonesian fried rice (their popular item), or something else. She suggested that if I like spicy I need to try the Oseng Fried Rice, and to get the combo if I want to try a bit of everything (chicken, beef, shrimp). It is (not was - I'm still eating it) SO GOOD!! The protein is perfectly cooked, and the fried rice itself is so, so delicious. Their regular level spice is pretty spicy, so beware if you don't generally eat hot foods. It has some sweet flavoring to it that's different from any other fried chicken style. I think it's one of their signature as well. The second visit I tried the Indonesian fried rice for the first time and it was amazing as well the fried chicken. On a Thursday night in early January, I called ahead for pick up of 2 chicken katsu dinner plates-regular size $9.29 each. While waiting in my car, I seen 5 Pasadena firefighters ordering food here so their food must be good. At 5:10pm, I was greeted by the friendly owner and chatted with her for few minutes. No new menus available yet. My food was already and I drove home. I didn't greet my hubby instead I had to take a first bite of Katsu. The katsu was crispy and flavorful and plentiful in size so 2 people can share it. The macaroni salad was yummy and the rice was cooked just right. I asked if they had Mac salad enough for the plate and he said yes but I can only give you one scoop. Okay you're rationing I get that. Then I ordered noodles and ask if they have a chicken combination with shrimp. He said I don't think so and goes to ask someone. I hear him ask and he forces me to order the combo that has beef. But I don't want beef...so why can't you just do chicken and shrimp and cut the beef which is objectively a better deal for them? Lastly I order a side of gravy. He says we don't have gravy. I say you sell loco moco correct? He says yes. I said can I get a side of that sauce. He says...we don't do that. Like buddy. I'm giving you money. Give me a side of sauce. I'm not asking for it for free. I finally got so frustrated I said "I'm gonna go someplace else thank you" he says thank you and I hang up. Very good fried chicken, but the katsu and short rib combo was just ok. Pics will show very little meat on the ribs and texture was a little off, like meat after using tenderizer. Flavor was ok, but couldn't get past the texture and didn't finish the little beef there was on the bone. Also a bit disappointed that they didn't have ox tail in any shape or form, which was the main reason for visit. Fried chicken was to retry great, so not a wasted trip but not the best one either.
