I had been going to this cleaner for wash and fold for about six months, but I will not be going back after little problems turned into big ones. I'd lose a sock here and there, get back someone else's shirt (and wonder what piece of clothing of mine had gone missing), and at one point had my "DO NOT DRY" clothes dried. None of this compared to receiving my clothes back this evening-- I just went to go pick up my things, and was told that I had too many hanging clothes. It was probably true, because I dropped off a larger load than usual, but I didn't think they would handle it the way they did. They washed the clothing, and then threw them, still sopping wet, into a big plastic bag. There are much better places in the city that actually wash your clothes on the premises, hang them properly, and that are about the same price. read more

Top Quality Cleaners has taken care of me for the last two years. I recently had to move away from the upper east side and am so sad I can't go to them any more! I love them...they treat you like family and really take care of your clothes. I probably had 30 items altered by them--nice pants, dresses, blouses, etc. and they were always done incredibly well, for an amazing price. The dry cleaning was also always done well and on time. The two owners are always so friendly, professional, speedy and attentive to their work. They were one of the nicest and most reliable services I've used in New York. I recently took a bridesmaid dress here to get fitted. I needed to get some taken in on the shoulders (I'm a bit petite and top was too big) and had to get about 4in taken off the length. Everything came to only $50. I was nervous about bringing this to a tailor who wasn't in a wedding store, but everything came out great! They got it done in 2 weeks. I've taken dresses for weddings to other places in the city and these alterations would have cost over $100 elsewhere, I'll definitely be back for future alterations!! read more

This place actually lives up to its name! My absolute go to for wash & fold and dry cleaning services. Cheapest around (UES, upper 60's) at $0.80/lb, and so far the best folding and ironing I've come across around here. Win win! You drop your clothes off, it's ready by same time next day, sometimes earlier if you ask. Credit cards (including AmEx) are accepted. And the staff there is SO friendly... the always smiley little woman in front greets you like you're family, all the time every time. I wanna squeeze her she's so cute Only downsides are that they don't offer pick up or delivery without a doorman, so I have to do that all myself (free workout?), and the place is a bit cluttered. I've had a few socks retire to sock heaven (normal), and once ended up w baby socks for my non-existent infant, but never had any regular items gone missing. The worst! Every time I drop off my laundry for wash and fold something is missing when I pick my laundry up... and I don't mind a sock missing, but actual pieces of clothing and even a mat went missing. I have gotten foreign garments back, I always go back to the place and return them, I wish I was as lucky to get my missing garments back. And they never know anything!!!! I understand is not the counter ladies fault but the place where they take the laundry too, apparently they mix it all and who knows who gets what! So happy the new place opened across the street and won't ever have to deal with "top quality" again!!! read more

I had 2 items of good clothes there for alterations. During Covid the put up a sign asking customers to pick up their clothes by 4/30. As I had started working from home b/c of Covid my clothes went missing. There was a sign posted on the door that anything not picked up would go to Star Cleaners on 1308 Second Avenue, NY,NY 212-861-1977. I called & went twice but my clothes are missing. I love them. They are the nicest people. It's an interesting pair of a Korean lady and Latin fellow running the show. They collect my packages, they launder my clothes, and will resend clothes in which the stains are not removed. She's great at mending and hemming. read more

Wash and fold service is horrible. I've been coming here for a year, and my clothes consistently come back in a worse state than they were when sent. If I were doing my own laundry, I'd wash all clothes again and wonder if there wasn't something wrong with my washing machine. Perhaps this sounds harsh; some concrete examples to back up my claims: 1. Whites go in white and come out gray 2. Clothes come back with mysterious bright pink splotches. This must be from the detergent, as it happens both with and without red items in my laundry load. It happens to my roommate as well, who also sends her clothes to Top Quality. 3. Clothes come back covered in hair 4. Clothes come back with pills and lint 5. Clothes do not smell clean; sometimes, gym clothes retain certain odors making me question if they were cleaned at all or were just run through the dryer (thank god for the detergent stains in this case-- at least I know they out some soap on!) 6. Clothes come back wrinkled (I suppose they don't need to press clothing, but this leads me to believe clothes sit in a heap for quite some time before folded and packed away) 7. All colors come back significantly faded They used to get rid of single socks (I did a few experiments to confirm this), but someone must have complained because I've gotten all socks back in recent loads. I understand that wash and fold service is something of a luxury, and I roll the dice by putting my laundry in someone else's hands. Believe me, If I had a washer/dryer, I'd be happy. I'd use it every day! If this is a luxury, and I'm paying a ton for it, I expect my clothes to come back at least wearable if not in beautiful condition. You might ask, "if it's so horrible, why go back for AN ENTIRE YEAR?!" Because they're nice. They keep their word and they're friendly, and I always root for the underdog. I kept thinking they'd get their act together, but it only got worse over time. Today I got my laundry back and wanted to cry. 2 shirts ruined by pink splotches, the rest faded and/or shrunken and/or in shambles. Oh well, Top Quality. I tried. I'm sure you won't miss me, but I do hope someone takes notice of this and shapes things up a bit. I'm still rooting for you! read more

Will not be returning. Very disappointed. Terrible. I feel as though I spent $19.75 for my coat to spend 2 nights in day-care. I brought in a pea coat that had gotten a little dirty for dry cleaning. I work with animals so it also had some hair on it. I was quoted $19.75 and told to come back in two days. I returned just before closing two days later. The coat was hanging on a rack as if it had just been dropped off. It was not in a garment bag and was where other recent drop-offs seemed to be located. After handing over my receipt I was asked to wait a moment. I watched as the woman I was dealing with located my coat from the rack. It was discreetly removed from this rack and taken behind the back wall by another employee who went over it with a lint brush and then placed it in a garment bag. After paying I got home and looked the coat over. It still had animal hair on many parts and the mild surface stains that were present on the front of the coat when I brought it in were still there, nor did the coat smell clean. I'm a smoker. It smelled like smoke still. I returned within minutes and questioned what had been done. The woman behind the counter seemed to laugh it off as though it was nothing and then suggested I leave it to be "cleaned again," but was told it would be another 2-3 days. She scratched at the powdery stain with her finger and commented that the stain was "strange" and seemed surprised it was still present but offered no legitimate solution. She then suggested some water, walking over to a small spray bottle across the room and returning with it, but then ignoring the garment. It felt like she was not at all trying to make the situation right. I didn't expect a refund or anything extraordinary. I simply wanted what I'd paid for. I asked what exactly had been done to the coat and was told that it was "sent out" so she didn't know. I told her I would take the coat home and just try washing it myself because she was clearly not going to try to solve the problem. I returned home and was able to get the stain off with tap water and a hand-towel so obviously it wasn't particularly difficult to remove. My summation is that they mistakenly hadn't gotten around to my coat or had forgot about it and at the last minute did a quick little "lint brush" "spot clean" when I returned to pick it up and they realized it hadn't been cleaned. read more
