Movers blocked the entrance to the Woodsview apartments with their truck and when I pointed out to the movers that they were blocking traffic and potentially emergency vehicles that are frequently at the complex, they told me that there aren't any ambulances on the way. Not only a rude and inconsiderate response, but also an ignorant one when the time to move for an emergency vehicle could be the difference between life and death for someone. Horrible experience. Completely disorganized in booking and arranging services, unresponsive to texts. Movers showed up in socks and sandals. I disputed my charges when I was provided 4 piano movers when they only had quoted me 1. I was told that I had misunderstood the phone call when I booked them. They refused to provide me a copy of the recording. I wasn't comfortable communicating with them by phone after this and they refused to refund any portion of the overcharge. Booked the standard which was two people for two hours. Both were very nice, clean, and cordial. We ordered two U-Pack containers, and we had a plan which was not followed. We were both cleaning and organizing while they worked. The reason for the single star was how they worked. One appeared to be brand new, and the other seemed to know what he was doing, however the loaded most of the light objects first and saved the heavy stuff for last, which as you might guess did not work out well at all. There was a bunch of room left over in the first container but most of it was in places we could not access. We were told the workers would wrap the dressers in plastic wrap which was not done. One worker busted our television stand. We were on a tight timeframe so we couldn't disassemble and reconfigure everything. We did tip them since they were newer and because of the economy. One of them was telling us his mom and sister had recently passed away When U-Pack came to pick up the containers, a whole bunch of stuff fell over in the container. We hope at least half the stuff makes it in one piece. Nice guys but really bad at packing. Update: Furniture arrived today. I cannot blame the guys for how stuff was handled during transport, but as you can see from the before and after photos, we were screwed from the beginning. read more

Rob and Devon were great. They worked through a terribly hot day in Virginia Beach to get us unloaded. They were friendly and courteous.

We we were quoted 1300 for packing and 1800 for the move. It ended up costing us 1800 for packing and 4400 for the move and they didn't inform us until AFTER they moved everything that it was going to be higher. The packers ran out of packing materials so left a bunch of stuff unpacked and we were still charged 50% more than what they quoted for packing!!! The next day, the movers showd up and started just throwing random stuff in boxes. They found an empty paper shopping bag in my room then jammed a bunch of random stuff in it and threw it into the truck. They threw chemicals into a cardbord box that they also put books and bedding in (of course thr chemicals leaked! They stuffed household goods into a metal garbage can that was previously used for garbage! And transported it to our new house like that. It was raining and they dragged our mattresses along the ground and they were soaked and covered with mud. We have moved 6 times with movers and this was the only bad experience we have had. We hired these movers to move us from an apartment and a storage space into our new house. We are contesting the charge because we have attempted to resolve the following issues with the movers, but they have accused us of lying about problems and damages and have offered only $350 to account for nearly $2000 worth of damage to our property and extremely poor and incomplete service. Damaged property includes: * 10 scratches on refinished hardwood floors that had cured for 2 weeks prior to move in but no one had really walked on yet (there were existing scratches underneath the polyurethane that we are NOT attributing to the movers) * Damage to an antique, one-of-a-kind dollhouse * Damage to an inherited antique barrister cabinet * 5+ scratches or gouges on walls, including in newly painted rooms * Missing Phillips Hue smart color light bulb ($65) * Cracked, large, brand new planter ($100) However, additionally, the service we received from Top Notch was NOT top notch. When my spouse hired the movers, he explained we had a lot of belongings in our apartment and also had a storage space in another location that would probably need to be moved. The person he spoke with said we could decide the day of the move if we wanted to move the storage space or only the apartment. We were asked to estimate the number of boxes we would have, and estimated 70+ in just our apartment plus an unknown amount in storage, and admittedly we did have closer to 180 boxes. However, we did not move some large furniture pieces we had intended to move, and if it were only about the cost of moving additional boxes, we would not be contesting the charge. Our only issues with the overall cost of the move are related to the damages, time the movers weren't working but we were charged for, and extremely inefficient movers. When the movers arrived on their scheduled day in the morning, there were three movers and they immediately stated they had another moving appointment that afternoon and would likely not only not be able to take our storage space as we had been told they would, but wouldn't be able to move our entire apartment either. The three movers moved quite slow, and one seemed to be training at least one of them on how to do their job. There were many pieces of furniture they moved all in one piece, despite previous movers being able to move things more efficiently by taking them apart. We were billed from the moment they arrived at our apartment until the moment they left our house that afternoon, despite the following gaps in time where one or more movers were not working: * 30+ minutes of time unaccounted for when traveling between apartment and house, despite leaving before we did (we were left waiting for them for 40 minutes beyond the travel time) * 30 minute bathroom break for one mover * 60 minutes where one mover injured his back and rested it, and when he did begin moving things, he would take one small box at a time * 30 minutes of the movers trying to figure out the tablet they use for payment and sitting in their truck Once they arrived at our house, we gave them a tour to show them that each room had a color-coded sign that aligned with the tags on every single box. Still, they would load up a dolly of boxes, bring it into the house, and ask one of us to tell them where each box went. They were not at all efficient about this, often having boxes going to 4 different rooms on one dolly, and even though we told them where things went, they put MANY boxes in the wrong place, sometimes on the wrong floor entirely. This resulted in it taking much longer for them to unload the truck and even longer for us to unpack. We were told they were sending three movers specifically so there would be one mover on the truck to organize things and make sure they were grabbing items going to the same place, and while one mover was often on the truck, the piles of boxes they brought in were not organized. There was also sawdust on many of our belongings and left on our bathroom floors. We are chronically ill people and hired movers so we wouldn't have to move things ourselves. Because the movers the first day were so slow, the company had to send two movers out the following day to complete the move. These movers were more efficient, however when they arrived at our house, they had to spend over an hour rearranging boxes left by the previous movers. These movers asked me about how many movers had been there the previous day, and then they were laughing about the poor work done and shocked that there had been 3 movers but they didn't get the job done. We have tried multiple times to resolve this with Top Notch and for our trouble have been offered a max of $350 and called liars. BEWARE! read more

I have NEVER been so outraged with a company in my whole life! I swear not one of them speaks English because their ability to communicate was atrocious. We specifically stated that we did NOT have to be out of our residence for OVER 2 weeks when they arrived. The 3 person team they sent 45 minutes late freaked out at how we were not packed and ready to move when they arrived. They were afraid that with the items that remained unpacked, would damaged. They went back to the truck and called their supervisor. He arrives and after over an hour and 45 minutes of debate they finally start moving things. Not the items we WANTED them to move, literally, anything that they could get their hands on to fill the truck! Some of them had to be stopped from taking EMPTY totes. We had more than enough help to take the smaller items and much of what they were grabbing but there seemed to be no stopping them once they got started. When the items were 'tallied' in the truck they stated that they moved "40 to 60 boxes" for us. Most of which should NEVER have been placed on their vehicle! We were also told when contracting the job that mattress covers would be included and they were not used. Afterwards, when this was brought up we were told that it was OUR FAULT for not having ASKED for them at the time of the move since they are not routinely used and a $5.00 additional fee would have been accessed per mattress. Upon arriving at the new place they began unloading the furniture. The damage to the walls was absolutely unacceptable. Holes punched into the drywall by the legs of the couch, scratches in the woodwork, marks in the paint everywhere! Our landlord was sent pictures so Top Notch's Insurance company could reimburse her to have the damages repaired. Worse yet, was the office person, John, texting us begging to have the initial review removed from 'Square' because they were a small company and even one bad review could damage their business since it was just starting out. They charged me $168 dollars OVER the estimated cost for the additional time it took to move since they took much more than they were suppose to and then had the nerve to state that they graciously hadn't charged me for the FOUTH PERSON they added to the team since the supervisor/office person showed up to 'resolve' the moving issues. They left behind several pieces of furniture because they had items on them that were not yet packed. When asked to return and complete the move, the stated that their insurance company wouldn't let them because of the damage claim. Now I am left trying to get ANOTHER moving company! I've never required movers before so this was my first experience hiring a moving company. From the get-go the staff were respectful and very friendly. I was able to schedule 1.5 weeks out from my move and was told the 2 movers would come between 8-9 am. They showed up at 8:30, which was great. Very friendly staff. Due to covid, I wore a mask the entire time and tried my best to stay out of their way. One person wore a mask while the other did not. I was fine with that as I stayed away and let them work. As another reviewer said, they loaded all of my boxes and lighters stuff before grabbing the furniture. I was a little concerned by that but I did watch them re-organize once things were in the truck. One reviewer said they did not wrap their furniture, which is unfortunate. My guys wrapped every single one of my furniture pieces. My 1 year old desk got one little scratch on the top but other than that, no damage. Top Notch was also able to price match my other quotes in town. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is needing fast and hard-working movers with a tighter budget. read more

I had a great experience with top notch movers. They sent two gentlemen who helped move me from the 10th floor of an apartment and into a ranch style home. They were punctual, disassembled and reassembled our a large upholstered bed frame, wrapped all large furniture with padding before moving it and worked efficiently. Nothing was damaged.
