If you are looking to buy a vehicle in Yakima Washington at Top Notch Motors PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING! My 19 year old sister purchased a car from Top Notch Motors on July 19th of 2023. On July 20th of 2023 (the very next day) the car stopped working. Keep in mind my sister who is only 19 years old making minimum wage saved as much money as she could to buy a car in full. She paid an out the door price of $10,000 which is about 1⁄3 of her annual income. Being a young woman making her first big purchase her hope was to buy the car in full so that she wouldn't have to worry about payments. Little did she know Top Notch Motors sold her a car that would now cost her a new engine needing to be installed, multiple days of missed work because she was left without a vehicle, a tow, multiple oil changes, 3 trips to Top Notch Motors, 9 calls and multiple text messages due to Top Notch's unprofessional communication, restless nights, and days of anxiety. All together equaling over $5,000 with the engine costing $3,785. Our step dad went into Top Notch Motors to see what they could do and was told by Derek Politte "Well I don't know where you were when she purchased the car". After hearing how unprofessional the situation was being handled I took my sister to go and speak to the owner Dan Politte. We explained her situation, everything that has happened with the vehicle, and all the money she has had to borrow because of all the needs to make the car just driveable. We told him we wanted to make sure that Top Notch Motors wasn't the type of used car dealership to take advantage of a young woman purchasing her first car before leaving a bad review. We told Dan that the price of the engine was the only thing we were asking him to reimburse her for to make things right. We were not including all of the other expenses she had to pay on the vehicle that stopped working just before 24hrs of her purchase from Top Notch. After discussing everything Dan wasn't ready to make things right so we provided him with all the pictures and videos of proof that we had with dates of the vehicle not working the day after she purchased the car. He then started to consider making things right and told us we would have to come back on a later date after he discussed things with his business partner. Her temporary plates were going to expire so we called the DOL to see what the hold up was because Top Notch kept telling us that the plates still were not in yet. The DOL then let us know that there was no delay on her plates and the only reason Top Notch hasn't received the plates is because they were waiting on Top Notch to get back to them regarding the final steps. We gave Top Notch many calls informing them what we had discussed with the DOL and after not hearing back we went back into the dealership on the Friday the day before her plates expired. Dan finally had the plates and told us the only thing he could do was give her $2,500 but if he did that she would have to leave a good review. Considering all the time, money, energy, unprofessionalism, and dishonesty that she has had to deal with from Top Notch Motors we declined the offer. We truly believed that he wasn't doing all that he could to make things right. We believed he was trying to silence her from speaking about her experience at Top Notch Motors because we still didn't think that price was him making things right as a business owner. Especially after meeting with him the first time and getting zero communication back from him after trying to get ahold of him many times after the first discussion. We also discovered that many of the good reviews were left by employees, family members, and friends of Top Notch Motors. Overall the experience we had at Top Notch Motors was extremely disappointing in all aspects. If you are not a friend or family member of Top Notch Motors I do not recommend you to buy a car from them because this could very well be the situation you end up in. read more
