I have been going to Top nails for years and I can say that Honey is the best. She literally copy & paste the styles that I show her.

This is the 2nd time I went. I see Honey, who I really like. I do not get the gel and I don't get the almond shape, to keep down on the cost. Yesterday Honey did my nails and said it was $55, but the woman at the front asked to see them and then charged me $70! Unfortunately they are going to price me out. I enjoy going as a little luxury me-time, but I'm not paying $85 (with tip) per month. EDIT: I called to ask how much a fill with french tips is ... regular polish, regular shape ... and they said $35. I asked why I paid $70. "Well ... it's really $55, plus $15 for a simple design". Honestly, I've been here before and was extremely pleased with the outcome. But I went in to get a full set for my birthday and it's been 4 days and 3 of my nails popped off. All the paint is chipped. I recently moved to Cromwell and my original nail lady is in Bristol. Honestly just gonna keep going into Bristol. Because I'm extremely disappointed. Been coming here for years and the quality of my nails has definitely improved since then. I'm very particular with the shaping of my nails and as long as you speak up and tell them what you want they will do it. Don't sit back and let something you don't like happen on your nails!!! The rating is for all the times I've been there not just the other day. I do not want to soak in water or have a message which hurts my thin skin. I just want to have my nails trimmed, cuticles pushed back and clean under nails but not with a sharp objects etc. I been cut just about everytime I've had pedicure. The head person said I had to put in water except to trim nails. So I paid $15 and I did tip woman $10. On top of that it was embarrassing to have other clients looking at me like I'm a crazy. You can clean feet with warm not hot wet towel or use an antiseptic spray. You can use gel for callus removal on bottom of feet and around nails and file off. Everything is the Just the same without excess water and cutting of skin. Every salon should offer this option for those that want it. It's not the money it's peace of mind. I always pay full price even though I don't have legs done, skip nail polish etc. FYI hot towels and hot rocks put on your legs and feet is horrible. It took months to get rid of the rash on my legs and ankles so I stopped getting my legs done. Anyway I did look up what I wanted and it's called a dry pedicure. I used to love Top Nails. I have been a customer for over 10 years. After the new management I feel like some of the nail techs are not as pleasant. Today I made an appointment at 1:30pm and I left at 3:15pm. I made an appointment for a fill with a few designs. The nail technicians are not skilled to do big designs so I always keep my designs simple. I sat at chair 1 after waiting 20 minutes. I mentioned one of my nails was a different shape compared to the others and her entire attitude changed. She seemed annoyed that I mentioned the shape and after that she became very aggressive during the service. After my fill before the polish I asked for another nail technician because her energy was very negative, and I began to get upset because of the service. After sitting in another technicians chair she was unsure how to do the design so I waiting another 15 minutes for the picture I posted. Whenever I'm in the area I always go to Top Nails, but after today I will never go again. I've always been big on customer service. I was happy the manager was able to do my nails, but the first woman (table 1) was rude, and she was not accommodating. I am definitely looking forward to trying other places in the area after my service today. read more

I've had a gel pedicure on one occasion at this salon and more recently I just got a gel manicure done. They had a decent amount of customers and technicians in progress on both time that I visited which is always a good sign. I prefer gel manicures because it is durable but not a permanent as a set of acrylic nails. They have a tv mounted in the pedicure area and massage chairs that work. I didn't really understand their pricing system. They have menus posted on the walls in the the 2 areas that I was seated in but I wasn't clear what I was requesting and how much it would be and communicating with the staff is as one might expect when English isn't a person's first language. Despite that, I liked the end results of their service. I had a technician named Kate for my nails, no complaints here. My only request is that they crack a window or work on their air quality filters since there's a smell of nail products. I'll be back to see them again. read more

Dip nails didn't cure and the results were terrible!!! Do NOT go here for DIP! We were told it's because of humidity, I've been getting DIP done for 3 years. Never had a problem, at other places. I used to love coming here since I was in high school, but I recently returned for the first time in a few months. I made the appointment for a gel fill, and that is what I've always received at other salons, even though I've had acrylics for almost a year & my nails have grown out to where a few of them no longer have tips. Well, with no warning they charged me an extra $10 over the fill price ($53 instead of $40) because they said it was "overlay" because I no longer had tips. They didn't overlay anything. They filled in the gap between the grow out & the acrylic. I didn't get a design or anything, the shapes are messy & they made my nails bleed in two places & got polish on my cuticles and hands. This place used to be great but I will not be back. Save your money & go somewhere else! read more

I have been going to this salon for a few years now. There are several in the area (most of which I've tried), but this one is the best! Nally has been my nail technician for most of that time. She is a perfectionist and takes great pride in her craft. I've witnessed her having to deal with some pretty rude customers yet she always maintains a respectful affect and goes out of her way to ensure people are happy. I've never left disappointed and not to mention, the price is very reasonable. You should definitely check this salon out! read more

I had a full set at this location a year ago and it was a great experience. I went back last week WORST nail experience I have ever had. The woman who did my nails was always rushing to and from the sink or to and from the nail polish yet I was there for 90 minutes. I left with my full set already looking like I had them for a week and on top of all that they charged me for a manicure which i never even asked for. So I've been going here for a while, to one person in particular. Recently I've just gone in and not worried about who I got, just to make it easier. Well it's a crap shoot, and I won't take the chance again. Today I got the new guy and a half hour job took an hour, terrible job, cut me, used his nail to aggravate the cut further, used dirty hands to put lotion on me and massage my arms, just couldn't get out of there fast enough. When I paid I asked for something to clean the cut, said the alcohol burned that he put on TWICE, but they just talked to each other in their language and I ended up just saying "it's fine" to get out of there. I just got my nails done here and I called to see the price before going and they ALSO had it on the wall, I asked for the $40 pedicure and she did it and when it was time to pay it was $56, I did get gel but it can't be $16 just for gel! This place is all about deception. I called right before I arrived and asked the cost of a full pink and white full set was- they told me on the phone $45. The sign in the salon stated the price was $45. I sit in the chair and the nail tech is filing my nails and she tells me it's $70!!!! I pointed to the sign and said I asked before I got there and she said that isn't including the gel and tax, which makes no sense because what else would a pink and white set use? My friends get charged around $30 for this same and when I went here, they charged me $60. They literally doubled the price and my nails looked terrible after they were done. THIS PLACE played me like a fool for 15 MONTHS!!! Had acrylic nails for years, went in hoping to continue my usual. Tech told me "liquid gel is much better, healthier and more natural, oh and 20$ more." I don't mind spending the money if the product holds up to its standards so i went with it. Nope, broke left and right days after. Tech tried to keep me with the liquid gel so I listened to her and gave it about 3 more tries. NOPE. So i told her i wanted my Acrylic back. She convinced me to try "gel power" a newer product that's very good. I looked on the product board and did not see the gel powder on their anywhere, but I foolishly agreed thinking it was "new". I was paying 30-34 bucks a refill and gel polish every two weeks PLUS leaving over 20% tip everytime.......the weird part.. the product and process looked just like good old acrylic (a 21$ process) I decided to go somewhere else because my nails were looking to thick and plus, every few months i was convinced a new fresh set to keep my nails healthy, 50 BUCKS a whack. WELL Turns out it was indeed acrylic and my tech was RIPPING ME OFF HARD CORE! I'm genuinely hurt. read more

l went here on 12/19 because I had received a gift certificate and thought it might be nice to get a little pampering around the holidays. I don't get pedicures often, maybe 3 or 4 times a year. Instant headache from the fumes as soon as I walked in the door. There was definitely no kind of air ventilation. The gift certificate was for basically the "top of the line" pedicure which included hot towels, extra long massage and extra oil and lotion. I did not receive ANY kind of "massage" or foot rub of any kind. Also, most every place I've gone to for a pedicure, I received a shoulder rub while my toes were under the dryer. Not here! I guess I should be happy that she at least pulled the chair out for me. She just kept squeezing different oils and lotions out of packets an putting them on my legs. While I was there a gentleman came in to purchase a gift certificate that they charged him tax on. He argued with the man at the counter and said he can't charge tax on a gift certificate because they then will charge the patron who uses the gift certificate tax again. I believe this was remedied and he was credited back the tax but when I went to pay, they charged me tax as well!!!! What kind of game are they trying to play here? Then, as I was leaving and I handed the tip to Kate, she just said, "ok,bye." Sorry, but I'm kind of a stickler for manners, language barrier or not.I definitely WILL NOT go back. If I could give ZERO stars I would. I got Gel applied to my natural nails and they have lifted HALF WAY within a week. Not to mention that they cut me with the drill on 4 fingers. My nails were sensitive to the touch for the next 4 days. I guess I was lucky to even have the Gel applied at all because they kept trying to put the Gel polish on instead. I get that not everyone speaks English but at least know what products you offer. They were rude and were TELLING ME what I wanted. No, I don't want Gel nail polish- I want GEL! Why is that so hard? Not only do I want Gel, but I want Gel that wont lift off within a week. I don't mind paying for quality- but they charged me 50 dollars to basically ruin my nails. I was completely RIPPED OFF! The lady next to me was telling her manicurist that she was ALLERGIC to Gel. She must have said it 4 times before she got loud and said- NO GEL- I WILL HAVE AN ALLERGIC REACTION!! They were still putting gel polish on her and were confused. My 11 year old looked at me wide eyed. The only way I will ever go back to this place is if I am completely out of my mind and want to punish myself for something. Owners of TOP NAILS- your clients are your bread and butter. If you treat people with kindness and respect and do at least a half way decent job, people will come back. Your high and mighty attitudes from the front of your salon to the back is not winning you any contests. OH, and if you can speak English- you should. Speaking your native language about your clients right in front of them is RUDE. Also, the words ALLERGY and/or ALLERGIC, pain, blood and the statement "you're doing a crappy job" is something all of your employees should understand. The only reason I go to this salon is because it is cheap. Every time I leave I am always mad at myself for going. I had to have a new set of acrylic nails put on..the lady doing my nails used a fake nail and stuck it UNDER my finger nail and then ripped them off like that...(there is a special tool you are supposed to use to take them off) it was SO painful.. It felt like she was sticking needles under my nail it was awful... if I knew she was going to do that I would've just ripped them off myself at home and saved myself the money. She did nothing but rip my nails off and paint them, no lotion no massage no cuticle cleaning, no maintenance of my damaged nails caused by her ripping them off NADA. Cost me $40 and the acrylics she put on don't even cover the entire nail. Also was paying attention to the way they "clean" the brushes or whatever they use... yeah those things are definitely NOT cleaned like they should be. Just all around terrible experience, I will definitely never be back and recommend anyone who goes here to find another salon. read more

I looked at yelp for suggestions and up popped top nail!!! Once arriving there I was asked what I wanted and to go to table 5 (there was no wait time) and I was taking care of. I've been going to Top Nail since 2016. I have had NOOO PROBLEMS. Last year I gave my nails some breathing when I did return spring of this year I realize recently new faces. Thought is was just new employees. My next time in I asked nail tech doing my nails if new management and she said yes since Oct 2018. In my head I'm saying no wonder it's going down. I gave two stars only because anytime I went I never had to wait. BUT, on my left index finger I developed a green spot since new management yea go figure . My last time going was early August and honestly service was horrible. I walked out paying almost $50 bucks for $40 service. When asked why it's soo much if prices went up nail tech says "you get gel polish" I stated I always did and never paid more than 42 bucks and that's with the tax for UV gel fullset. She states "I been here long time always $5 extra" so I laughed cause she is one of the newbies from NEW MANAGEMENT and I said "I've been coming here since 2016 you haven't been here long time" so she gets quiet and walks away. Second time I had an issue with this specific tech. Needless to say. I have now since gone to Crystal Nails across from Walmart in Cromwell, CT. A good friend of mine LOVES it there and so does my daughter. Although there is always some kind of wait I'll take that ANYDAY for better service. I LOVE the way my nails look. My daughters nails came out WAY better than Top Nails have ever done and my good friend her nails are ALWAYS perfect. I use to go to this nail salon religiously. Even when I moved I drove an hour just to go and see my nail tech that I had there. This was my favorite salon hands down. But this last time I went I couldn't have been more disappointed. I believe the old owners sold the salon to a new person, and let me tell you, it's not good. I went March 16th. It was my birthday weekend I figured I'd treat myself. So I got a full set of gel nails and a pedicure. I believe when I got there the new owner started doing my nails. She put more than one nail tip on crooked and not a single one is the same length and when she started laying the gel down she put it on so thick and not even. Then I guess someone else walked in that she needed to take care of right that second and they had me switch to a different tech and she was very kind and I could tell she was trying to fix the first lady's mistakes but there was only so much she could do. She did cut my fingers multiple times as well, which they bleed and hurt. And then another lady did my pedicure, well more like child. One of the nail techs daughters. Pretty much all of the nail tech daughters work there, which I though you had to go to school to be working in a nail salon but who knows. She was okay, she also cut my toes. My pinky toes is actually cut pretty bad. It's been almost a week and it still hurts. Almost all my finger nails are starting to lift. The gel they put on top of the nail tip is starting to separate. I really am so disappointed with how this place has extremely gone down hill since the new management. Not to mention I payed $95. Not really sure how they got that price when it was 45 for the nails and 25 for the pedicure. They just make up there prices on the spot I swear. This place is very fast paced. You are treated like a hamster on a wheel. The employees are literally treated like factory workers on an assembly line. We visited them on June 1st for prom nails. We made the appointment for 10 am, told them in advance we needed to be done by 11:30. We weren't taken until 10:20, once started Rose did a great job. We loved the outcome, however the nail technician sitting behind Rose was so rude to a client yelling at her and just talking down to her. I stepped in and said, "excuse me" your being mean and rude to your client. She told me I didn't know what I was talking about. I stayed, "I know what I heard" and don't appreciate listening to you me rudeness and how you're treating your customer. I spoke to the gentleman there, he advised there was nothing wrong with how she spoke to the client. He told he the client was happy and would come back again and request this technician. I spoke to the client outside, most likely she will not be back, nor to mention request this technician again! I would not give this place more than one STAR! read more
