Capacitor went out and TopGun came out the same day. Base on my research the estimated cost was a bit high (~$250) but their reviews are so good so we gave it a try. Kyle showed up on time and was able to confirm the problem right away; He offered us an upgrade to a better quality replacement with 5 years of warranty instead of 1 year - It was a bit steep (~$480 after tax) but I was impressed with Kyle so we went for it. I saw everything Kyle did to service the unit and I have to say he went above and beyond what I thought I was getting for $500. Yesterday morning we woke up to a colder than usual morning and quickly realized that our heater had stopped working. After doing a bit of shopping around in the morning we landed on Top Gun due to it being in business for a long time with a stellar rating as well as a local family-owned business. Despite me reaching out to them at mid-day they were able to get me on the schedule for that afternoon and when other jobs and traffic kept them from making it inside the original window (only by about 10 minutes) they comped the service call fee. The coil was leaking on my old ac (old type expensive refrigerant (r11?)) and my normal ac guy is so busy this time of year. So, I searched yelp and luckily found another great, honest company. I have had some super bad experiences in the past with other ac companies. Jon at Top Gun Air came out the same day and checked everything over and gave me options for a new system (which I definitely knew I needed). They were installing it only two days later! The job they did is so noticeably better than the original unit that came with the house. I'm just sorry I can't go ahead and have him replace the downstairs unit, as well. Very personal and nice but beware they are all about a sale! Had them out last winter for service and the entire time onsite was a maintenance sales pitch. Then summer rolls around and our upstairs unit is down. We call them out again and they're insistent we need a new unit as it would cost just as much to repair various components. After questioning the diagnosis the service tech Justin insisted he wasn't in sales and that he would leave us options ( $4K-$10k). Thank you to community FB group we found a 2nd opinion where they came out and replaced a $85 piece in minutes. Obviously I mentioned the Top Gun Diagnosis and was reassured it was a single item and that the unit would be fine. Beware! if your spidy sense goes off call a 2nd opinion. read more

I spoke to Jon first thing in the morning, and he was able to book a service call mid-day. This alone was much appreciated because it was supposed to hit 96 degrees, it was humid and my upstairs unit was iced. Kyle B kept the appointment and he immediately demonstrated that he is very capable. He troubleshot the air handler and identified a blown capacitor and opportunities to improve air flow across the coils. Kyle went the extra mile to check out the system and made some basic but important improvements to solve the problem and improve my system performance. Honest, Good Communication and Low Cost - Exactly what you want in your local repair business! SITUATION: A/C Unit stopped working with family home in 100 degree TX heat while I'm 1200 miles away. COMPETITORS: Most other repair guys failed to quickly respond, insisted on service visit charges or quoted 30-50% higher for repair. Called Jon based on the Yelp feedback for additional assessment, which was no cost. TIMELINE: Called in late afternoon for scheduling and estimate. Jon came out the next day and provided an initial estimate over the phone. SERVICE: Jon provided update on arrival time and called me to confirm the charges and next steps. Part was not readily available so he made arrangements to quickly obtain it and fairly adjusted the pricing. A/C unit was repaired in about 3 hours total and within 24 hours of initial call. I received a formal invoice via email as well. SUMMARY: A very friendly businessman who provides good, fast service and at very reasonable prices. He seems genuinely understanding of these situations and I have no reason to consider any other Air service vendors going forward at this point besides Top Gun Air. read more

Jon Riddle is terrific! I found Top Gun Air on Yelp yesterday when our home air conditioning system (Carrier) wasn't cooling as much as fast. We had the system on all day, from 7 AM to 11 PM, but the thermostat would refuse to cool down past 80 degrees. I knew then that we had to have it professionally looked at. I called to make an appointment with Kyle and he confirmed a service visit for 10 AM today. Email and SMS confirmations followed promptly. And exactly at 10 today, we saw Jon pull up. Jon inspected our Air Handler upstairs and immediately diagnosed the problem. He gave me three viable options. While he did dwell on the benefits of completely replacing our 15-year unit with a brand new one - including offering financing terms - there was no hard selling at any point. He offered to refill refrigerant at a fixed price which would include the cost of the service visit. We had him start work and progress was slower than expected because the system potentially had another issue (TXV valve) which became evident afterwards. But Jon asked us to monitor performance all day today and over the weekend, and call him back for additional repairs, only if they are necessary. In the meantime, he said he would check on parts availability of the defective TXV valve. Six hours after the fix, Jon's initial fix is holding. Other than have our air conditioning unit serviced a couple of times for a capacitor, we've had no problems with it. I was happy that in Jon we found someone who did what I would have done had I been a HVAC mechanic. I will for sure call Jon if we have issues. read more

After looking for HVAC companies on Yelp! for 45 minutes, I decided to call Top Gun Air based on previous 5-star reviews on here. They were all SPOT ON! I called around Noon today and Jon was at my house by 2p. Took him about 10 minutes to confirm what was wrong. While he was calling around to make sure he could get the part, I did a Google search to see what I should expect to pay for the repair he suggested. Jon's quote was an honest, reasonable quote. No complaints about the cost whatsoever! He went to get the part, came back, installed it, and tested the system all in an hour or less! Good, honest, and friendly service seems to be a rare thing these days, but Jon and Top Gun Air meet that criteria in my book. These guys were awesome start to finish! I recently bought a rental property in Texas. Seeing the investment opportunity, with all of the people moving there to escape California's gross cost of living. Figuring I would capitalize on that, what I didn't figure on was my home inspector COMPLETELY dropping the ball and not letting me know how mad the hvac system was. My tenant called and let me know that the ac system was broken. I selected Top Gun Heating and Air because of their awesome Google & Yelp reviews. We scheduled a service call for what I felt was a plenty reasonable price to have a contractor show up at my home and give us solutions. They showed up, a cpl of hours later, on time as promised. The technician found the problem and got my tenant going (awesome!) But he didn't stop there! He went over he entire system. Took a bunch of photos and then went out of his way to explain that while yes, it was back running, it really needed replaced. Since I'm way in South Florida, I said please put something together and get back with me via email/phone. Which they did! After explaining everything at length, and truly seeing the condition of my a.c. systems I opted to replace EVERYTHING, as recommended. It's a rental several states away. I don't have time to worry about if the a.c. is in good shape... They scheduled the job for the following week, and installed a brand new ac, all new ductwork, the whole thing. Process was seamless and they kept me informed with photos etc. And sent me all paperwork when it was done. Now I have a new system, the tenants say the house is so much more comfortable, and even smells better. Most importantly, I know that Top Gun has my back and I don't have to worry about anything as far as my a.c. and heating needs are concerned which is awesome, being an out of state property owner. I was suspicious because my system is well-maintained. I wanted a second opinion. Jon was very professional and courteous when I called and when he came out. He arrived on time, reviewed the work proposal from the other company, and did his own tests. After completing his tests, he relayed that all my system components were within normal limits.
