I ordered brought in food and started out with the wontons first, swimmin' in something called "hot sesame sauce." Now, I've been around long enough to know that when a Chinese Restaurant warns you a dish is "hot," they are not talkin' about temperature -- they are talkin' about a level of spice that could peel paint off a barn. But I ate 'em anyway, because a man's pride is more delicate than his taste buds. Next up the Mongolian beef -- thin strips of cow that had been cooked with onions, peppers, and enough sauce to baptize a Baptist church twice. I'm not sure what Mongolia has to do with it, but it was tender, sweet, and spicy all at once, like dating a redhead from Alabama. Finally, the hot and sour soup. Now, I don't know who first decided to mix hot and sour together, but it's genius. It's like football and beer -- opposites that were meant to be. One spoonful and you feel both comforted and challenged, like your grandmother telling you she loves you but you need to cut your hair. I cleaned up the left overs feeling a little sweaty, and just humble enough to admit that maybe -- just maybe -- them folks in the kitchen know more about flavor than a boy raised on cornbread and collard greens. read more

I bought food from here today, and it was a huge letdown. * The noodles: They were completely pale and white. The meat tasted like it was just boiled rather than properly stir-fried, lacking that authentic texture and flavor. * The fried rice: It was terrible. The flavor was completely off, and it looked like they just used some cheap yellow coloring to dye it instead of seasoning it properly. It had absolutely no taste. * The chicken: It seemed like it was just parboiled and thrown into the dish at the last second. It was completely bland. Everything is delicious! TOP CHEF is the only place we've been getting Chinese since they opened up. Just please be aware the menu posted on here isn't the most current. The numbering of the items beginning with S have changed! My usual S18 is now S17. So make sure if, I mean when you order- double check the number is what you want. IDK what else has changed. One more thing: one night my elderly Mom wanted a dish with tomatoes. Anna, who has worked the counter as long as I can remember, said the produce supplier only brought her green tomatoes. If we would be so kind as to wait an extra 10-15 min, she would gladly run next door to the grocery store & get some nice ripe ones. Mom was delighted & enjoyed her entree. My husband ordered from the restaurant next door and I couldn't really find anything I wanted to eat so I looked at the menu next door and the one thing I wanted to try they were out. So I just decided to get the chicken with fried rice. I'm actually really glad I tried it. Their fried rice is mixed very well with seasoning and they don't skimp even in this tiny looking box. The chicken was cooked through and was really tasty. I can't put my finger on the taste, but the seasoning taste very familiar. The restaurant was dead. Didn't really look like they get too busy, but I will be back. Decor is a bit outdated and the menu looks like it could use some TLC. Hopefully the chow fun is available when I come back. 19 July 2017-- I ordered the General Chicken and Sweet and Sour Chicken platters. Each came with fried rice and an egg roll. The taste... taste was good! It was good flavor and tasted freshly made. General Chicken only had 2 pieces of broccoli, wish it had more. The interior of the restaurant... I would not take my family there to dine in. Decor was random and the environment was just off. I'll be treating it as a good take out spot only. Staff... friendly and polite. Good English. Overall it was good take out Chinese food. I'll be eating there again. read more

I live 4.8 miles away and am in their delivery area (according to their pamphlet). I called to place and order for deliver and when I told the woman that answered the phone that her response was "Can you pick up?" I asked her "Why, don't you deliver?" At this point she asked me to give her my address so she could see if I was in her area. While she is "checking" I can hear her taking an order from a walk in customer, the entire time she was supposedly "checking" my address. She then came back on the line and said I was outside of her delivery area. I asked what her limit was, because I was within 5 miles and she said "Only 2 or 3 miles". I had attempted to order from here on a recommendation from a friend and am disappointed in the lack of service simply because I attempted to order during a busy time. read more

It's funny how everyone says the service is so friendly and that definitely means much to me. Unfortunately that is the ONLY thing that was good. Remember it's about the FOOD people! ergo my 1 star rating. Yes, it is located in a nice shopping center, to the far left near the Italian place, and Top Chef is new but when you walk in that cloud of grease smell permeates your nostrils and I was a bit surprised. That means:old cooking oil, poor vetilation, or poor end of night cleaning. I choose all of the above. Yes, the lady at the counter is as sweet as me. I ordered the standard Shrimp Fried Rice and Crab Rangoon (cream cheese puffs). The CR were 10 triangles, nicely fried BUT a 1/2 pat of low quality cream cheese and of course no crab, just a pink spec. So I paid lots of money for fried triangles that weren't tasty. It came with a sweet sauce that I HAD to use to add some type of flavor. My SFR came in a nice large container, when I opened it, I found about 10 small size shrimp in all. The rice was a toasty brown and there was a sliver of onion. That's it! A piece of onion & 10 smally shrimp, No veggies, no egg (hard to find anywhere). I ate the ENTIRE container because there was no substance! No flavor. Worst of all the shrimp had a mild chlorine bleach smell! I'm from MD and we know that's a scandalous trick to preserve seafood, and it is NEVER done in our town, it would start a revolution. Oi! never again will I go there. Not that it's terrible but it's a business. ,,,and businesses do things to cut corners and this place does just that. I bet there will be health code violations in the future. Don't say you have not been warned. Oh, I polished off the food because I have an iron clad tummy, I would NEVER have served this to a child or elderly person. Remember the old days when you bought fried rice and they filled it so full they would use that metal handle to close the top because it was bursting, and layer the juciest shrimp right on top? And remember the days when a person opened a restaurant because they wanted to serve the best tasting food? This place is just a business that more than likely has never tasted the finished product.
