We've been coming here for a decade. Everyone they make our items fresh to order, are fast and pleasant to interact with. Have never had an issue with and of the orders we've placed, the fried rice is fresh and flavorful instead of greasy like other similar restaurants. The only shortcoming is the kids are growing up and they used to all sit at a table in the restaurant playing and doing homework. Who said they could get older?! read more

The food is good, I have been there several times. This time there was a woman working there who I tried explaining my order, the same thing I have had there several times. She was lost, I am a patient person & if you read my reviews I almost never say anything bad. She got absolutely irate with me, I was calm, no raised voice, she was going off. The owner lady came up and said that she doesn't understand, ma'am I have no problem with that, we all need help sometimes, but there's no reason for her to be going off on me like this. The owner told me not to say that to her, still calm,& no raised voice I said I haven't said anything disrespectful towards her. I said if someone is going to pay $50 for take out for 2 people, you should think about how they are treated. There's too Chinese restaurants around here for anyone to act that way, I will just go to Lyn's only a few minutes more away and they are always thankful that you are there. read more

Owner who is an older female is very rude and disrespectful to everyone. Overcharges on credit card orders. Will not confirm orders with customer and argues with them. Witnessed her barrating and degrading her delivery driver who asked to be reinbursed for giving change out of pocket. Owner is Very Unprofessional with no regards to customer service or employees. There are other chinese food resturants in the area and all of them treat both customers and workers alike properly. Do not order from here. This place is an example of how NOT to act. Im considering BBB complaint based on what I witnessed alone. To the female delivery driver that works for her. There are plenty of better paying jobs or contractor gigs that will at least treat you with some dignity and respect. This is our go to place for Chinese takeout. Portions are large and delivery is fast! The last few times we've had the chicken dishes they were a little tough. Their Lo Mein noodles are delicious. Exceptional shrimp fried rice, shrimp egg fu young, & beef & broccoli. Had lunch here and ordered the sweet and sour shrimp entrée. There was a hefty amount of shrimp, however, they were heavily breaded and tasted a little more "fishy" than I would have liked. It wasn't bad, but I've definitely had better sweet and sour shrimp in other places. My brother suggested that we go there because they offer lunch specials ( entree, drink, and egg roll) even during the weekends. So, upon entering....the decor left something to be desired. There were small, old chairs and tables, and the place was sparsely furnished. But why not give it a try anyways? We ordered the general tsos lunch special with spring roll. The consistency of the general tsos looked like "gel"....strange. I don't know how else to describe it....it was battered chicken chunks and instead of sauce...it looked like gel. The taste was pretty good. A little too sweet for my tastebuds....but pretty good. The fried rice was okay. In other words, I have had better and worse. But the spring roll was absolutely delicious! Easily the best Chinese food quality-wise in the area. I've been ordering for years from this place and the food has been quite consistent. Compared to other Chinese restaurants, the food has always felt freshly-made, and taste has never come across to me as one-dimensional. I'm giving five stars based solely on food quality, but there are some less-than-stellar points that I can probably add. The people running the store aren't really people-persons. If you're expecting the typical restaurant experience of having a waiter graciously greet you at the door, this isn't it. Also, the layout of the restaurant is meant to be either a quick-bite-and-leave, or to pick up delivery food. The layout reminds me of other Chinese restaurants from New York or Richmond; it's not the type of restaurant someone in the suburbs would expect. It's for these reasons that China King hasn't really gotten more well-known throughout the area. From my own experience, I can let that slide if the food is good. It's like comparing a pizza - in an upscale restaurant with ingredients including oysters - versus stopping by a small New York pizzeria run by Sicilian immigrants. In this case I'd much rather go to China King for the superior quality food and a more down-to-earth atmosphere, versus going to a P.F. Chang's where the restaurant is beautiful and the service is stellar, but the food isn't as good and is overpriced. read more

They told me 45 minutes for delivery, but the driver came in 20 minutes. The food was hot, crisp, and flavored well. I ordered the crab rangoons, steamed dumplings, and general tso's chicken. I am from NYC and traveled to Fredericksburg, VA. I used Yelp to search the nearby Chinese restaurant and found this place. I ordered Beef and Broccoli with extra shrimps, Beef Chow Mei Fun and Hot & sour soup. They are delicious, not salty, very good size portions. Next time if I travel to Fredericksburg again, I will certainly be visiting this place again. read more

I am from Colorado visiting my cousin in Fredericksburg, VA. We both drove one his vehicles to get serviced on the backside of China King. Being that we did not have breakfast and almost midday my cousin raves about this restaurants food. As we walked around the building to enter the establishment my cousin ordered his food and gracefully greeted the short lady at the counter to show gratitude that he was a repeat customer. Next, I asked if I could have the Beef Steak meal speaking at the same volume that my cousin did as we both had mask on (because of COVID) and through the clear plastic protective cover draped from the ceiling. Apparently she didn't hear or understand me so I repeated my order a second time as I pointed to the picture as a child would (in case she didn't understand English) again she said I can't hear which assured me she spoke English. For the third time I said BEEF STEAK. At that point she grimace in disgust to my surprise. At this point my cousin wanted to leave after paying for both meals and a can of Ginger Ale. I explained to him that I wanted to stay because I did not trust the order taking lady with my food. Eventually we both exited the restaurant awaiting our order. I spent my time next door browsing the discount store a few doors down as my cousin killed time looking at a store in the opposite direction. After 10min I returned to China King only to see my cousin exiting the store without our food. "Hey man what happened," I asked. "Man that lady has a major issue so I got my money back," he said. In closing, we don't know if she was having a bad day or perhaps I reminded her of her derelict child's father or if she was having a heavy period day. Regardless of the circumstances you treat customers appropriately and with respect. We decided to walk up the hill in the rear and order from the El Salvadoran restaurant tipping that lady $30 on our $59 meal & drinks. Second moral of the story, don't judge a book by it cover. Just because I have braids in my head doesn't mean we didn't have money as we drove away in two separate Mercedes. China King you suck!!!!!! read more

I hit this place every time I drive thru. The food is solid! Have had all of the usual dishes and they are consistent, reasonably priced, and taste pretty darn good each time. Location is strip mall average or below. Could use a real cleaning, but nothing shocking I guess. Family owned place, and young kids are always at the tables eating or coloring or running around. In fact the only smile you get from the main woman is when she talks to her kids. Otherwise she has a pretty crappy attitude towards, well, umm, customers. Strange. Food rates a 4+. Location a 3-. They are fast, the taste is great and they usually always send an free item such as a soda, maybe a white rice. Feeds a home of four for more than a day.
