Flash forward to today, I was immediately put at ease when I walked into Upper Village Dental because felt the friendliness of the staff. During my teeth cleaning appointment, Lexi ensured that I felt comfortable the whole time, and her communication skills are impeccable! I can see why all of the reviews for this place are GLOWING. I'm so glad that I found this clinic & I can see myself coming back here on a regular basis.

Overdue review…read more Upper Village Dental Care is a great place to visit for all your dental needs. My first few visits was with dental hygienist Shawna( sorry if I misspelled it). She was absolutely phenomenal! I returned because of her. She then went on maternity leave and Ashley took over the appointments. I was surprised, she was also amazing! Both of them have a great personality and did a great job. There's TV's on the ceiling, the place seems very clean. Dr. Peter helped me out with my remaining appointments and although I was nervous, he did a great job. I highly recommend this place. And who doesn't want to do a yelp check in for a free teeth whitening gel?

So I had avoided going to the dentist for years. When I finally worked up some nerve, I called a number of dental offices, and eventually booked an appointment with this one because the receptionist was warm, patient, and happy to give me as much information as I needed to get past some of my fear. The clinic itself is big and busy. The layout is interesting; it's situated primarily underground, but has sunlights for some natural light. It's clean, and shiny, and has a fishtank, which gives nervous nellie's like me something to focus on. I was booked in with Dr. Al Attar who was utterly patient and gentle with me and explained everything as he did it. The hygienist I saw on my second visit was equally patient and accommodating. I felt supported and cared for and will actually make it back for a six month cleaning, having conquered some of my fear with this clinic. It's not getting five stars because it's still a dental clinic - still expensive for those of us without coverage, and still scary and hard to navigate. Perhaps if they had a petting zoo in the waiting room...

I know dentistry not just from my education but from the dentists who treat me. I wasn't born with strong teeth and my mouth is full of bridges, root canals and fillings but it's because of their skills that I have a perfect bite with heathy teeth and gums. I have always been provided with the information needed to choose a treatment unless I am told that there was one choice for my best health. I like dentists who communicate their medical knowledge well and that's why I would refer others to Wedental centre.

DO NOT GO HERE. I went to this dentist after reading a few reviews online and reviewing their site…read more I had an emergency and initially their service was great, until they had to do the root canal on my teeth and my husband's teeth. They've botched both our mouths to the point we have been almost 3000 out of pocket and are still dealing with the ramifications of their treatment. They did not offer to do anything to fix the issues they caused my husband adding a 2000 dollar bill due to their error. Now he still has to get a crown which they should have covered due to NEGLIGENCE. I now have to do further work on my mouth that would have been unnecessary had the work been done properly. It's been approximately 8 months of hell. Who knows how much more money I'm going to have to spend to fix it all. DO NOT GO!!! SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE! **UPDATE June 2014** I can't say enough how people need to stay away from this dentist. I have now had to have all the work removed they have done and will have to get it all redone. All out of pocket. Things that should have been done were not and cheaper materials were used, I am convinced this is to ensure a steady income coming in. Temporary filling material used in a root canal and they did not advise that a crown was needed. She left my teeth like that! Food had been getting under the filling and back into the root canal. Again my new dentist has had to refill this to prevent infection. STAY AWAY!!!

While the staff was friendly and the clinic itself informational, the dentist is and was incredibly…read moretransphobic, asking me for personal information about how I came to be trans when it had nothing to do with why I was there. This clinic puts itself on a stage where it preaches a family like atmosphere with it's patients, asking you friendly questions, trying to get to know you by asking about favourite interests on it's intake form, adding confusion as to whether or not this is actually a dental practice office or if it's a hipster joint that you're registering for an ID card at. In addition to it's problematic, arrogant, self serving, & over priced dental surgeon, Dr. Botbol, they have an anesthesiologist that will call to discuss the procedure further with you and whether or not they think you're a good fit for the services this particular anesthesiologist can offer in this clinic (seeing as how it isn't an OR room). This man is just as arrogant, if not even MORE offensive in his treatment of people, going as far as to put me down into a mentally small box for having borderline personality disorder, claiming that I could wake up and be a danger to the office at one point because of the "unpredictable nature of your mood disorder." I would never, never ever, recommend anyone to this clinic. While they reign you in with false promises, they do nothing for the patient to supply & execute the process. They just layout the prices for you on multiple pieces of wasted paper, exercising their rights to charge you thousands of dollars, and saddle you with an impossible bill - all the while charming you, telling you it all with a smile on their face. After all, that's what they are all about, creating a world where everyone and anyone can smile and feel good about it. This particular clinic went so far as to goad my autism and Dr. Botbol decidedly pointed out that he was surprised I could have achieved that, as well taking it upon himself to "let me know" that I don't "present" as someone with autism.
