Overdue review. Upper Village Dental Care is a great place to visit for all your dental needs. My first few visits was with dental hygienist Shawna( sorry if I misspelled it). She was absolutely phenomenal! I returned because of her. She then went on maternity leave and Ashley took over the appointments. I was surprised, she was also amazing! Both of them have a great personality and did a great job. There's TV's on the ceiling, the place seems very clean. Dr. Peter helped me out with my remaining appointments and although I was nervous, he did a great job. I highly recommend this place. Thanks to Yelp, I didn't have a hard time deciding on which of the many dental offices in the area to go to. There's a reason this place has such great reviews! They were able to see my partner (who had lost a filling) on the same day, and Dr. Peter and his team were incredibly friendly and inviting - good for people that aren't too excited about dentists. They were able to connect to my insurance right away, no need to pay upfront which was great. The office was nice and modern, and there's plenty of parking in the plaza. I believe I've been here since January of 2016 and totally forgot to write a review for this place. My friend introduced me to this place as it was closeby to where I lived and they were professional with excellent service. There are 2 dentist, Dr. Nguyen and I forgot the name of other one, the rest of them are dental hygenists. Everyone here is very friendly and explain everything clearly as well. If you have dental insurance and something wasn't covered but they already performed it for you. They just waived the fee and didn't ask me to pay extra for it, thats what I call great service. I didn't feel pressure at all and they paid extra attention to all of my needs and wants. I enjoy the fact that all the spots they have got a TV installed and netflix while they do the cleaning and other dental work..Sometimes I get so into watching netflix there, I forget that I'm at the dentist. As a new patient previously, they gave out a brand new oral B electric toothbrush and you can ask for more brushes from time to time when they get it in stock. Found this dental office on Yelp App and I have been coming to this office for 2 years. The main reason was they open on weekend and open late on weekdays. Also staffs were friendly. The price might be higher than some dental office but it is reasonable and they will explain to me before charging the money. For regular cleaning, I prefer Cindy. She is really helpful, always smile and gental. Another reason why I think this dental office is better than my previous one because they will not make calls aggressively to sell me a service. They will only call you once before your appointment as a reminder. read more

I am afraid of getting my teeth checked and cleaned. My last check up at my old dental clinic was over 2 years ago. I know deep down I must go have my teeth checked, but I kept postponing. Then I decided to find a dental clinic close to my house so I can't have any excuses anymore (my old dental clinic is in downtown. I was very surprised with my experience here. The hygienist is very knowledgeable and by explaining every procedure to me, kept me calm. She doesn't judge that I had been lazy with flossing, but encouraged me to do my best and increase the frequency as time passes. I've never felt so relaxed at a dental check up before! Now I will never be scared to go to the dentist again (I am actually due back soon, as though I have no new cavities even with 2 years plus without a check up, but one of my old fillings came off, so I needed to get that fixed.) read more

Let me start out this review by saying I've had some pretty crappy experiences with dentists before, which of course made me VERY hesitant to visit another. My very first appointment I did feel nervous and fearful of what was to come, as I hadn't been to a dentist since the last horrific appointment I had with a dentist office here in Scarborough (couple years! Yikes) So when I first met dental hygienist Ashley I was very taken aback at how kind, gentle and outgoing she was. She took the time to carefully explain everything to me. She showed me my X-ray and explained the different things she's looking for to determine what was wrong with my gums as I was having a lot of discomfort on the left side of my mouth due to, what Ashley explained, was a gum infection. I learned more about mouth health than I've ever known simply from this one visit! Ashley was very knowledgable. You know that feeling you get when you don't have to ask additional questions because everything was already addressed? Yeah, that's the feeling I got the first time I got my teeth cleaned and examined. For once I actually knew what the heck my dental hygienist/dentist were doing! I understood everything, there was no discomfort, hesitancy, or nervousness left once I was finished my appointment. It's safe to say, I will be returning. Happy, and completely comfortable. I had some cavity issue and I had to find the dentist. I went there and the atmosphere were perfect. Even though I was not friendly person with the dentist, the doctor and the people were so nice that made me feel calm. This is the first dentist I don't dislike having to go. They have great facilities and everyone who works there is professional and friendly. I have never spent much time waiting to be seen and they show us everything that's been done and going to be done. I especially appreciate the dentist explaining the x-rays and visuals of my teeth. Upper Village Dental Care is one of the best dental offices I've ever been too. They provide a great experience right from when you walk in, all the way to when you leave the office. The dentists and hygienists are very gentle and thorough, and I truly appreciate that they always explain all treatment that needs to be completed. There is very little to no wait time every time I arrive to my appointments, and I like how the office looks very modern. Upper Village is my third dentist and I think they will be my last. I no longer need to look any further for a dentist. They are truly amazing! Everyone here is super friendly! A 10-minute walk doesn't hurt either for me. They are great for kids too because they have a tv set on the ceiling above their dental chairs. For patients to watch NETFLIX while getting a cleaning. They always ask if you have anything, in particular, to watch or just want to flip through-no judgment. They also have headphones! or if you want subtitles they will turn those on too. The office is owned by a husband and wife and I've met them both. Nicest people on earth on totally down to earth. They recently hired a new dentist because of mat leave and Joanne is just as lovely I can't express how much I enjoy everyone here. They are also open later than most dental places. On weekdays they are open till 8 which is great for kids in school or people who have to work during the day. They also accept walk-ins! They told me they do walk-ins when possible because they want to treat people who are in pain because tooth pain is not fun. Like how can you not switch your entire family over?! I found out about them through my school's insurance plan, the student network had some insurance deal where the upper village would cover 20% while my insurance covered 80%. This instantly drew me in because of the awesome student network. (check with your school insurance plans about this!) Even when I exceeded my amount for cleaning they found some way to fit my appointments in the insurance to make sure I get the best DEAL! LOVE! But this was back when I had insurance through school. Ever since coming out of school and no longer have an insurance plan I thought going to the dentist would suck my wallet dry. But Upper Village has been very transparent with their costing. Communicating with me about the cost of everything, breaking it down and even asking me before they do anything additional like x-rays. I love how they don't just do a bunch of services and charge me afterward without me knowing the whole cost. If you are searching for a new dentist definitely check them out! I recently had an emergency where I broke my front tooth and I needed to see a dentist right away. I called their office and they got me in immediately and did a fantastic job! I was really happy that they were able to see me on such short notice. Most offices I called couldn't get me in until much later. Dr. Peter fixed up my tooth without any issues. I had one of the best and most pleasant and enjoyable dental visit experience today. One of my wisdom teeth filling flew out last night so I went to a dental office which is on my way back home from work. I have no appointment, nothing but one guy called in he will be late so the receptionist squeezed me in. The dental assistant and radiologist lady A in her hi 20s took me into a room calling me sweetie please follow me. Wow..I love that. I told her I already love this place...lol. She did a few check ups on me and called the doctor in. Holy molly,. this is the cutest Asian lady dentist I have ever seen. Dr.T, probably in her low 30s with super cute face. She explained to me a bit about my situation and told me she needed to take 2-3 x'rays to check out properly. Gave a little instruction to the radiologist and left. She was so polite and so cute Dr. T went out and the radiologist A took some x'rays. She was telling me how to bite the teeth and such and calling me sweetie lots of time. After the x'ray was done, Dr.T came back , checked my x'rays and led me to a different room to perform the filling. She let me lay down on the dental chair and at the same time she pulled down a flat TV from the ceiling and ask me what kind of Netflix movie I would like to watch while she was doing her job. I told her I'd rather watch her pretty face than watching the TV. She smiles and told me I am a Flirt and funny..lol. To my surprise another cute Asian dental assistant lady R who is in her mid 20s was there to help Dr.T and we were joking and having fun before the drilling and filling begun. I have never thought I will ever come across a dental office like this in my life. It really was an amazing fun experience and my fear of seeing dentist was gone. The most friendliest team and my best ever experience seeing a dentist. I will be seeing them again next week as a follow up and may be more until my dental coverage ran out..lol read more

I started going to Upper Village Dental Care in January 2017 after reading all of the great reviews online and haven't looked back. Instead of loathing my annual visit to the dentist, I now look forward to it every 6 months at Upper Village. The dental hygienists are very kind and personable. I have Cindy, and she not only does a thorough job cleaning, but she actually makes notes on which spots on my teeth are sensitive, so that next time she can avoid them. Dr. Peter is a professional, caring, and competent dentist. On my first visit, he identified a large cavity in one of my teeth and saved me from having to get a root canal. On the second visit he identified another cavity and scheduled me in for a filling in a timely manner. The cavity turned out to be a lot bigger than he anticipated, yet he only billed me for the amount he quoted upon diagnosis. He also took the time to explain the various layers he applied to the cavity. Another exceptional aspect of this clinic is that they respect your time. At a recent visit, they were running about 30 minutes late due to a difficult young patient. Dr. Peter and the staff were extremely apologetic and even compensated me with a Tim Horton's giftcard. 10/10 I don't think you can find a better dental clinic in the GTA. read more

Dr. Peter Nguyen and staff are friendly, courteous, easy-going, punctual, and most importantly they truly care about what they do. The prices are reasonable, he will work with you directly to create a treatment plan with your budget in mind WITHOUT compromising the services you receive! I've never felt rushed or pressured about anything. The Dr gives you his honest opinions and leaves it up to you to decide how you would like to proceed with care. Honestly, I have only positive things to say about this office. Their dental equipment is new, TV in every exam room for your pleasure, WiFi, and friendly staff to keep you entertained. After over 5 years since my last cleaning, I was quite anxious about going to the dentist. I didn't want to return to my previous dentist as cleanings were quite painful and stressful and after 5 years I knew it would really, really, bad. I decided to look around for another dentist and based solely on the reviews from this site, I decided to try Upper Village Dental Care. The reviews are spot on! The cleaning was a walk in the park... honestly, I've never had such a gentle yet effective cleaning. My teeth are so smooth now! All those years of fearing going to the dentist were not necessary -- it shouldn't hurt. The office is very clean and spa-like, they have Netflix to keep your mind occupied and my dental hygienist, Ashley, was more than friendly and precise with the cleaning! Ashley explained everything and took her time! My appointment was almost 2 hours (I had a lot of 'food!' caked into my teeth) but honestly, I left there so happy that I will never need to fear going to the dentist again!
