I got the breakfast burrito with adobado. Something was missing in the flavor. I can't put my finger on it. I think the potatoes were under seasoned maybe. Some fresh elements in the salsa bar like cilantro might have been a help. I like that there are no other obnoxious fillers in the burrito. However I have had breakfast burritos before. And while I appreciate the size, the price was a little steep. I ate there and I'm not sure if it was the staff or me but it just seemed like people don't do that often. We've visited this location a few times in the past five years, but tonight will be our last visit. We ordered two Oregon burritos with carne asada at the drive-thru. We were the only ones in line and served promptly. In retrospect, maybe this location should've taken the time to make sure the food was prepared safely. My husband found a staple towards the bottom of his burrito. Thankfully he did not bite it--or even worse--swallowed it. I called the location to notify the workers of this safety concern. I was craving a breakfast burrito and was in Salem and decided to try Tony's taco shop! I got a double meat bacon breakfast burrito and the pricing and service were friendly and nice. I wanted to give a higher review but the flavors of everything is bland at best. As a California girl I know my Mexican food and Tony's really falls flat. Even the spicy salsa was tasteless. It left me wanting more flavor but still full so I guess that's a win. read more

We were in the mood for tacos tonight. So we visited Tony's Taco Shop near downtown Salem. It is not the most authentic Mexican food in the area, but what a solid selection of delicious entrees. I ordered the soft grilled chicken tacos with rice and beans. The tacos were tasty, with a nice amount of chicken, onions, cilantro, and sauce. The beans were good, but the rice was okay and largely forgettable. I tried the red hot sauce on one (very hot) and the green sauce on the other (mild). My wife had three hard tacos with shredded beef and said they were great! I recommend Tony's Taco Shop when you want to order a solid, well-prepared, and dependable meal. read more

I'm half tempted to not leave a review here because I don't want anyone else knowing about this joint. Been coming here for 2-3 years and realized I've never left a review. I rarely review anymore except for either outstanding or disgusting. Obviously my 5 star rating shows what I think. It would've been 4 stars because the building Tony's is in is run down and needs some work but was pleasantly surprised yesterday I could tell someone's put new paint on the places, maybe even a new sign. Let's get to the important part: the grub. Simply put, I won't go anywhere else for a monster burrito and make it a point to stop at Tony's anytime I'm hungry and driving through Salem. I haven't ordered from this place before and I took a chance ordering it through Doordash. I asked for them to put the guacamole sauce on the side (i'm one of those rare humans who don't care for avocados therefore don't care for guac) and there was plenty of guacamole sauce on those tacos . I get that orders can get "suffled" during transportation but I don't know if the driver was in a hurry and shook my bag up a bit or the restaurant didn't take care when packing but my tacos were all messed up when they got to me. I had to basically recreate each taco. The shells felt like they were just taken out of a package and the chicken thrown in. When I added lime the shells basically disintegrated. Having said all that, the tacos were tasty and I would definitely order them again IN THE RESTAURANT. I don't think this is a good meal for delivery, at least not the way it came today. read more

Not happy with my visit tonight. The service here is very inconsistent and the last couple times I have come through the people helping us have been forgetful and not friendly. My husband went to get us dinner tonight, and I had told him to get me a #4 as seen on the menu that is posted here on yelp. It is a beef taco and enchilada combo. Apparently the menu that is posted here is no longer correct, so the #4 is completely different. The person helping my husband let him know that they didn't have such a combo, but offered a completely different combo.. a #6 which is a chicken burrito and enchilada combo. Not sure why they couldn't accommodate an order of a beef taco and enchilada somehow, but I guess that was the next best thing they could think of? My husband wanted to make a decision quickly, as there were cars behind him, so he went with what they suggested. The person said it comes with a drink, so he ordered a Dr Pepper. When he gets to the window, pays and gets the food, the guy helping him almost forgets the drink. Luckily he remembered and asked my husband "it was a Pepsi, right?" My husband corrects him and says "Dr Pepper". The guys hands him the drink and as my husband drives off he takes a drink and it's Pepsi. So the employee asked to clarify and still gave the wrong drink. Once he got home and we started eating, I took a bite out of the burrito and my mouth instantly lit up with spice. The burrito was stuff with tons of super spicy chicken just soaked in their hot salsa. I tried a few more bites, but couldn't continue to eat it because it was so overly hot. Not only did I throw half my meal away, we wasted our money. And in todays economy, it's not very cheap even for quick takeout. I'm glad I got to eat at least half my meal, however I'm still pretty annoyed at the fact that 1) they have beef tacos and enchiladas and didn't think to somehow just accommodate the order, 2) nothing was said about the chicken burrito being super spicy or entirely filled with just chicken and nothing else, and 3) the employees just blatantly not paying attention and giving out incorrect items even after asking the customer about what they ordered. It's very irritating, especially as someone who works in the food/customer service industry. We will not be back unfortunately read more
