Best tacos in town! I've been a loyal customer for over a decade now. The only place in town I can get a lunch for under ten bucks. Vegetarian options. Oddly, my son's favorite fries in town. read more

This place is a hidden gem in Salem. The champurrado was delicious, full of flavor and not overly sweet. Burritos are classic (rice, beans, salsa, choice of protein), I would recommend adding cheese and sour cream. The asada tacos were good. Groups bigger than 4 will have to sit at separate tables. Plenty of parking. I will definitely be back for more champurrado, cheers! read more

super cheap really fast service and quick!! super good service and a wide variety of option!

The food is okay, but the service is subpar. The staff could be more welcoming and friendly.

Order was wrong wasn't asked if I wanted a receipt employee said there wasn't sour cream on fries then came back and said there was said no pico on the other order of fries then described what was on the order listing out the ingredients in pico I said no onion which was then met with a snide comment saying that's where I should've started employee then proceeded to lough together and stare at my car while I was waiting for my order then when I asked for a receipt she said yes came back gave it to me and walked away without saying anything one of the worst customer service experience ever and order was wrong read more

I wasn't sure what to expect when I got here... Our local guide (My friend's cousin) was raving about this place. She said Marco's had the best tacos on Salem. I wouldn't know, never been to Salem before... so I took her word for it. Good news! She was not wrong at all...well Marco's is the only spot I had tacos in Salem...lol. Marco's sells legit some tacos. The tacos here do remind me of the street tacos in Mexico. While not as good as the Tacos in Mexico, these are certainly tasty. I got 4 Tacos, each with different meat, none of them were disappointing. My only regret was forgetting to take a pic of the Tacos...such a bad Yelper! I was a wee bit houngary... If I'm in the area again, I'll gladly return and get more Tacos or try some other things on the menu... read more

bomb food. Obsessed with everything I've gotten here. Will always visit anytime I'm in Salem.

The venue is authentic street tacos and food, so it's based on price and what I expect from a mom n pop taco shop from California--maybe not perfectly Mexican. It was all that, especially for the price. Maybe this is what is the norm in Salem, I can't say. But it was more than I expected. My wife got bean tacos and a burrito to bring home. There was something about it she didn't like. She suspected the beans were cooked in lard which makes sense, but she asked for "vegetarian" and thought there was a shared language. Many folks think vegetarian is just no meat, but when you cook mean and no meat food with the same equip, like Burger King's veggie burger, it does indeed become meat. Beans cooked in lard even more so corrupts the food. Regardless, I thought they were great! Full of beans, cheese, and ensalada stuffing. Unlike pizza or chowder, not so great the next morning. But fresh, they made me think I was back to my roots in SOCAL! Both red and green sauces were what I envisioned. It was take-out and I didn't use the bathrooms, so I have no input on cleanliness or service. I'll go back sometime and report on the inside experience since other reviews have pointed out serious faults in that regard (Sheesh, how hard can it be?). But for now, I'm a liker! read more

Great food love this place excellent tacos couple blocks away from my place. One summer I lived off the tacos!!!

Been here multiple times over the years and food is ok. Nothing you cant get from ANY OTHER taco place. I will say they have some of the best taco sauces. The big thing here they can work on is customer service, staff has never been very friendly. Theres better food and service available in other establishments near by, will be trying them instead going forward. read more

One of my favorite places in Salem. The food is reasonably priced and really good for what you're paying for. Fish Burrito - Pretty decent. Not the best that I've ever had but if you're craving a fish burrito this would do the trick Fish Tacos - SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE BURRITO! The fish is nice and crispy and tastes amazing with the salsa they give you. Usually this is my go to order when I eat here. Carne Asada Fries - I love that their fries are on the skinnier side because it makes it super crispy. I would definitely recommend this! I have yet to try anything else on the menu because I honestly only come here for the fish tacos but if I ever come back, I would definitely try the other items on the menu. read more

Great place in Salem to get tacos! Fresh ingredients.. great service. Check it out if you haven't yet.

Disappointing. Told the owner that there are shrimp feces veins still inside the shrimp. He replied " so? no other restaurants remove them, that's just how they come" He then went back into the kitchen and brought back a shrimp that was so frost bitten that Mr. freeze from Batman would have been impressed. He showed it to me and said " see, there's nothing you can do about it." How about use fresh ingredients and devein the shrimp? I then found a random piece of fish in my other shrimp taco? Baffled. They also don't offer a taco Tuesday deal. Paid $20 for 6 tacos that had frozen poop and random fish pieces inside. read more

Really great food, but we've been sitting here for 45 minutes for our to go order and still nothing . No rhyme or reason to what order the food is brought out in. No apologies for the wait, nothing. About to walk out without our food. This may be our last time here. :( Edited, 2 years later... ok. Despite the sometimes painfully slow service, we do keep coming back. Marco's is my favorite taco place, ever. I was really sad when Marco's previous business, la perla, closed down and was excited when this place opened up. You can't get a better deal than a dollar per taco. The fish taco is my favorite. It's always freshly fried it's always crispy and light. I've lived in Portland and now live in the Midwest and still have not found a place that compares to Marco's! read more

Let me start by saying I really love the tacos here. The taste is great and the food price is pretty decent. I frequent it a fair amount. My issue is the price gouge and stinginess on things like sauce. If you eat in, you can have the bottle of sauce but not until your order comes. If you get it to go you revive 1 sauce for every 3 tacos. Now, this may seem like plenty but the size of the sauces is the issue. At first the sauces came in a larger container but for the past couple of years they come in a 1/2 oz cup. I am attaching a photo for reference on the size. On top of that, if you ask for more you are paying .25 cents for each extra 1/2 oz sauce. I get being cost effective but man....you have a lot of customers and I would think you could do better by them. read more

I love tacos because of Marco's Place; and have yet to find another place that gives you a good size, great tasting taco, for just a dollar. I went to school in Salem and after discovering the place, I went there every week. I've now tried to find as good of a place in Chicago, Minneapolis and Seattle, and every time I go to the best rated place I'm let down. Nothing compares to Marcos. For the many times I've been there, I offer these tips to you. 1) I've read the reviews; yes, it can be busy. But call ahead and place your order-they are busy for a reason. You can also go straight up to the register and bypass the line if you call ahead. If you want to sit down and enjoy your tacos, plan ahead! 2) If you are craving these tacos on Sunday, try their Lancaster mall location across town. Same food and same owners. 3) If you are paying with a card, you'll need to purchase more than $5 worth of food. 4) Always ask if they have tamales-they hardly have them, but when they do it's worth getting. How many places can you order an assortment of tacos and be full with great food for only $5 or $6? Definitely worth getting to. read more

Absolutely love the food from Marco's! I always know what I order will be exactly the same every time. And you can't beat their prices.

Overall we have to take into consideration all factors, taste, selection, value/price, customer service, ambiance, location and cleanliness. The star value is based on a few comments made to me about their food while we ate. The words "lacking meat quantity" and "no real flavor" and "$9 for this combo???" rang out unanimously. The place was clean and service not bad. The price, again, not really bad, but not budget friendly. No salsa bar. No free chips. Very small drink choice. Limited seating. I believe the 3 stars is a fair deal. Not awesome, not bad.. just.. mehhhh ok. The chimichanga in picture had more ingredients on the side then it did in the burrito. The nachos meat had a chewy fatty bite.. read more

Marco's has the best Mexican fast food in Salem. 3/24/15 update I gave Marcos a 5 star review on yelp because I love the food. However, I was disappointed in the service today. They give 1 tsp hot sauce no matter how much you order. I ask for extra hot sauce every time I order but ever get it. So today I checked my order before leaving. Sure enough, one hot sauce. So I asked them for more and the 3 girls there started arguing about giving me another hot sauce!! Why? If you don't want to give extra hot sauce why don't you say so while I'm ordering instead of agreeing and then not giving it? If it is such a big deal, put a sign up! Then the younger girl wouldn't give me a drink cup because she didn't have a straw. Even though a drink comes with the order! Needless to say, I won't be frequenting this place 2-3 times a week like I have been. Talk about making a regular customer feel unwelcome read more

I come to Salem every year to visit family and love hearing about the up and coming restaurants that have popped up. I actually heard about this place from someone on the plane ride over and also from my brother when I arrived. This place has a lot going for it. The prices are inexpensive and the food is decent. I tried the pastor (marinated pork) tacos and the carne asada tacos. Both were fresh, but I wasn't overwhelmed by the flavors. I really liked their red sauce, however, it added another dimension of flavor. It's extra for a snack plate which is chips, salsa, and beans. But overall a good deal. The service was good once someone helped us at the counter, however, we had to wait several minutes before the person even acknowledged us even though no one else was in line. However, next time I am in town, I am likely to try this place again. read more

!!!!!SCAM ALERT!!!!! Ok so until tonight... I used to love this place. I ordered myself and my girlfriend 2 carne asada burritos with sour cream inside. Which we have been ordering for the last few times. But the last couple... they have charged us and left the sour cream out of the burrito. Which I'm not the guy to complain about something like that. I didn't call or say anything the first 3 times it happened. But this time I noticed a pattern. After all it's only 50 cents for the addition so I called for some help. The girl on the phone said she was going to talk to the cook. The cook (whoever the liar is, probably someone with ownership in the company cutting corners) insisted that "she" added sour cream in both. Which was a lie. Burrito was taken apart and had multiple bites taken out of it. Definitely no sour cream. She said bring them in and she will replace them. I said ok so I take my half eaten burritos... less than half actually.. back into this fraud shack. She went to take them back and I said "this one is more eaten than the other one so if you don't want to remake both please just remake one and give the bigger one back to me. They replaced one and threw away the one I asked for back. (Or they might've thrown it back on the grill and gave it to someone else) After this I will not be back. They are scamming people. So before you leave the drive thru... check if your order is right. We have had other issues with our order in the past but decided not to say anything because we aren't that kind of people. Disappointing. It's 50 cents lady... just give me what I paid for read more

Three of us ordered the $5.99 special. Three tacos with beans and rice. The chorizo was a little greaser then I normally like, the lengua was perfect the pastor, Pollo and carne asada were good. Beans were runny but all in all for $5.99 a plate we were all satisfied and left full read more

I was excited to eat some delicious tacos since it has been a while since I've enjoyed delicious Mexican food. The small restaurant was filled with people at the tables eating and more people in the line. I was not greeted when I got up to place my order of tacos. I only wanted to try one before I ordered more of them to see if I liked it or not. I typically don't carry cash so I had to order a bigger order since they have a minimum $5.00 card policy. I got my order and it looked disgusting and nothing like what was on the description. This place seems like a popular place for locals but I am picky when it comes to Mexican food so I will not be going back. Not friendly service here. read more

ZERO STARS Third time at Marco's. Third time disappointed...no, disgusted. Should a person have to wait more than 30 minutes for 3 fish street tacos ordered at the drive thru window? $11.97? What the hell is the deal with the hot sauce? Why can't they just give you the small to go packages when you ask for them? They always say you have to wait until you get your food then go back up to the counter to get the sauce. It's not like it's expensive. Great mini tacos that I really love. Marcos is a staple in Salem, OR. I've come here for years and am rarely disappointed. From a solo taco binge to a large dinner party with 16 people and everywhere in between, Marcos comes through. Prices are really good, and I never feel like I'm getting skimped out on ingredients. I rarely give five stars to a restaurant anymore, but tonight as I dined at the taqueria for the umpteenth time, I realized this place is very deserving of just that. Consistency and value are excellent. Quality isn't necessarily the best (meats aren't high quality, etc) but hey, that's not what I'm asking for when I buy a 99 cent taco!
