I'm giving this 4 stars because I was surprised with the outcome. That said my honest review is a 3.5, maybe 3.75. I went to Tony's for years when I lived in Missouri, I was surprised when my mother told me Tony was gone as I was a loyal customer 9-10 years ago. Over the holiday she booked us some time and I was ready to get my claws back after giving my nails a break (and she was paying as my Christmas gift). First, my tech was a gentleman of the grandfather age and we barely talked. I was open minded, but he defiantly put acrylics that were too large for my nail on. I make note of this because there are potential sanitary issues with openings for moisture between the natural nail and acrylic. He never asked what shape I wanted so I made sure to tell him I wanted an almond shape. He cut them for my shape and I was still apprehensive. Y'all, I will say, he put extra time and care into applying the acrylic powder and filling any gaps and getting a symmetrical thickness on all nails. The shape came out better than expected as he paid attention to detail while filing. All in all, my nails look pretty good, a little rounder than normal, but good. My main concern is the gel polish application, I will have some rough lines when they grow out. I have polish and clear coat on my cuticles. I will give them another go when I'm back in town but make sure, as a consumer, to ask for what you want. Fairly disappointing. There is no clean up of the skin around your nails. The polish job is sloppy. I asked for the nicest pedicure they offered and saw no difference between that and a regular pedicure. I specifically took my boyfriend in because I wanted to get the skin around his nails cleaned up, stated as much, and they did nothing worth it. read more

Went here for the first time...not impressed with the pedicure I received. There was only one person working at 3pm. The interior was mediocre and needing updates. Definitely didn't give off a relaxing vibe. The one staff member that was there said a maximum of 5 words to me. The pedicure was short and simple. Minimal done all around including nail trimming, cuticle trimming and push back, pumice scrub on callous. The leg/foot massage felt like a light rub that lasted a max of 1 min per leg. Oh and the best part the water soak was quite chilly. However they turned out nice looking and I did get a parafin dip included in my pedicure, which was $20 not including tip (about $1 per min). 2 stars for decent prices and decent ambiance but nothing else going for Tony's. I am inspired to write this from the pedicure chair where I have been waiting for over an hour without receiving any service (not counting the 30 minutes waiting on the couch prior to this). I understand that there is only so much an individual nail tech can do, but when I arrived at 6pm there were only 2-3 customers here, and 2 employees. At no point did anyone speak to me politely (or anything beyond a gruff command) or apologize for the wait and say they will be with me shortly. I've been here many times because it is convenient to where I used to live and also has a good price point (either $30 or $35 for a mani/pedi that includes paraffin wax). Very average skill in terms of the actual nail painting and doing absolutely nothing for themselves to make it up in customer service. Convenient or not, I won't be back. **Edited to remove a star. Didn't even get the aforementioned paraffin wax that made the price point worth it, and my nails are already chipped and messed up despite me being painstakingly careful. When it was all said and done, took over two hours. I would rather rip all my nails off than go back. read more

I don't know why I have gone back more than once. Maybe it's because the people whom I go with say, "but it's close & it's so cheap!" Yes, it is - but cheap isn't everything. In all the times I have come to this location, I have never - not once - been treated with courtesy or politeness. The facility itself is nice enough, and the technicians do an adequate job on the actual manicure -- but I don't go for a pampering experience to be treated as though I am an inconvenience. I have come in to Tony's for manicures & pedicures numerous times over the past 4 years that I have lived in West County. The salon is bit run down looking and could definitely use a face lift. They do an okay job on nails depending on who you get. The male owner is always friendly and does a good job. There is usually another younger guy there who is pretty friendly too but sometimes makes some questionable conversation....(His opinions about various stories in the news should probably be kept to himself-read me?) Last time I came in for a pedicure on a Saturday afternoon and there were barely any customers in the place. This is a bad sign if you are a nail salon. A middle age female did my nails and was VERY unfriendly. When I pointed out an issue I had with my toenail after training for a half marathon she truly rolled her eyes at me and made no attempt to hide her annoyance at having to deal with it. Stunningly unprofessional. I doubt I will come back unless I am in desperate need of some nail care and this is the only nail salon left on the planet! read more

One of the worst experiences I've had in awhile.. filed my nails so many times my skin hurt. She kept filing trying to file down the lumpy dip and after being there for almost 2 hours I had to politely ask her to stop filing because my fingertips hurt so badly. Dip was very uneven and done incorrectly. My cuticles were completely covered. I could tell she was trying to make the dip right but did not know how to do dip. She could have told me ahead of time and I would have gone without or gotten gel. I think she definitely knew they looked very bad and still let me go and pay. read more

i've been to tony's Pro Nails one time and got the french GEL manicure. It was done by a lady, and she was very good. She worked on another customer at the same time and managed to do us both. my nails were perfect. She was thorough quick and a perfectionist. I wish i'd caught her name because I'll use her again. Do not go here for dip nails!! Lady did a horrible job, she covered my nails with way too much liquid (all the way to the cuticle)powder expanded and went on my skin. Nails discolored from not drying fully and had to have another guy take over to grind them down they were lifted stuck to my skin so bad. Took almost 2 hours and still charged me! I have been going to Tony's for 11 years, ever since I moved to Missouri, In fact, when I moved from the west suburbs to downtown, I tried a total of 5 other salons because it was such a long drive back to Tony's, but I gave up and went back to him. Absolutely no Nail Salon can compete. The others took too long, there'd be a couple nails slightly off, or smudged, and they never ever lasted as long as they do when Tony does them. Tony's a perfectionist and does the very best manicures & pedicures in the St Louis area. My nails never need repair and I always get compliments on them. Oh Oh -- And if you haven't tried the Gel Nail Colors, Do It! Leaves your nails so shiny and lasts and lasts! Apparently it's good for your nails too. read more

Tony and his wife Lisa were extremely rude and difficult to communicate with. Somewhat surprising they had as many customers as the did. However, his brother Hung was semi-friendly and did a very good job on my nails. I walked in one day, just two weeks after my last appointment to find out they were all gone and had sold the business. Lisa did not bother to tell me they were all leaving and would not be there for my next appointment when I called to schedule. No advance notice to their customers. Apparently opened up a shop elsewhere. No loyalty to any of their customers at all. If this is the way they continue to do business, I hope they fall flat on their faces. I needed a quick pedi and found the salon by doing a search in Google maps for a nail salon near me. This one was very close, and I read some yelp reviews. They were not very good, but the sign in the window said "under new management," So, I decided to give it a try. The pedicure is decent, but it was definitely no-frills, and pretty quick. There was no dry time between coats, which makes me nervous because a lot of times that means The pedicure stay soft for quite a while and ends up getting messed up. Sure enough, by the time I got home I noticed that one of my big toe nails had a spot in it. I felt it was very expensive to, compared to the other salons I've been to. It was $27 for a very quick, no-frills pedicure. *I am finishing this review about a week after initially got the pedicure, and I already need a new one. Usually when I get a pedicure it lasts three or four weeks and I just have to trim them. I will not be going back to this salon. read more

I have visited this salon 3 times. It is a quiet, clean salon. Tony and the other people working there (I think it is his sister and mother) don't talk a lot, but they are polite and nice. They were speaking Vietnamese to each other one time, and Tony made a point of telling me what they were talking about. Every time that I have gone, I have been pleased with the pedicure. I recently tried another salon nearby. That was a mistake. I will be going back to Tony's. Don't expect a fancy salon. It is a basic salon that does a good job. read more

I have been to Tony's a few times. The first time was great. The 2nd, 3rd & 4th times were okay. I have also taken my 3 teenage daughters with me. When we are all together they are treated fine but when they go in by themselves they are not treated as nicely. My daughter took a friend to Tony's to have their nails done. Tony, the owner, was rude to them from the time they walked in. He was rushing between the 2 girls and when my daughter commented that her nails were too long he grabbed her hand and cut her nails down. When she was asked by her friend if she liked them, my daughter commented that she usually liked them a little longer. Tony flipped out and told her to get out and go somewhere else. When she started to leave she was grabbed again and he cut her nails completely off. When I went in to talk to him about the situation he started yelling at me too. When I asked him to remove his mask so I could understand him better - he walked away ranting something about his english. In no way did I comment about not understanding his english. When I said I was going to report his rude, disrespectful behavior he yelled "I dare you!" and his brother-in-law yelled, "Do you want the number?" If you want a cheap manicure, pedicure or fill and wish to be treated rudely and made to feel unwelcome then Tony's Pro Nails in Ballwin is the place to go but if you want a cheap manicure, pedicure or fill and wish to be treated as a customer should be treated then stop by one of the other 10 nail salons you pass on the way Tony's. That's what I intend to do and I will tell everyone I know to never go to Tony's Pro Nails in Ballwin. read more
