Really, Mick? While I appreciate you (whomever you are) taking the time to reply to my review, you seem to imply that what I've said isn't truthful. Regardless of Tony's standards regarding the cooking process of the bacon: MY BACON WAS UNDERCOOKED (and because of that, made me ill.) . I'm sorry, but there's no room for debate in this matter. Per the portion of meat on our sandwiches, we gave the shop several chances to return to the "generous" portions of meat that were served the first few times we visited and became fans of Tony's. Several times, your weekend staffers failed to meet those expectations. Have you considered that perhaps your employees aren't meeting Tony's standards, instead of implying that I'm incorrect or making the whole thing up? That's the impression that I get from the comment left in response to my review, and now I have no interest in returning to Tony's. In this case, the costumer service and product (specifically the deli sandwiches) doesn't justify the cost. read more

How have I never reviewed Tony's!!! OMG...It's the best. It's a bit pricey but you will not find better quality meat and fish to grill up at home. Their chef is amazing. They also have prepared foods you can just heat up (like their mini beef wellingtons which are to die for). Their cheese selection is great. It's not as large of a spread as you'll find at Whole Foods but they'll have more obscure cheeses you can't find at WF. This particular location, also has a very small boutique wine shop next door where you can get unique, interesting wines you won't find at Davidson's. Basically, you can get everything you need here (herbs, veggies, salads, bread, oils for dipping your bread, appetizers, pre-made foods, raw foods, etc.) for a casual BBQ or a fancy dinner at home. They also have a few tables outside where you can sit and eat anything you've purchased inside that's ready to eat (chips, dips, drinks, sandwich, etc.) Love this place. read more

We go here when we're feeling "fancy" and wanting some quality meat to grill at home. We go here when we're bored with the same old, and looking for something different as a hostess gift or appetizer offering. And we go here, when we want to find something that's potentially hard-to-find or unique. You don't come here for cereal. Or basic produce. But, you want a specialty granola, or broccolini- yep, then come here. Meats, cheeses, sauces, dips, spreads, desserts- yeah all of that too! Fresh, quality and yummy! Note - For some reason this might be confused with "Tony's Meats", though the company is now called "Tony's Market" and is located on Dry Creek. Tony's Market is a cramped little paradise, tucked away in what used to be a 7-11. Nestled in a quiet residential area, this market was and is the paramount of quality food. Some might compare it to Whole Foods, but I think this is a bit misleading. Whole Foods' emphasis is on organic and natural foods, where high-quality non-organic foods are sort of a side effect. Tony's hasn't adopted the green stance, however, sticking with a standby of quality, in whatever form it takes. The entryway is a small produce aisle with a modest array of fruits and vegetables and some herbs. Step inside and you're flanked on the right by the beginning of the deli counter which loops around half the store. On your immediate left is the bakery counter, with a dazzling display of cakes, brownies, cookies and other meticulously prepared culinary goodies. The highlight of the store, in my opinion, is the deli counter that runs around most of the store. Going counter-clockwise, you'll find the deli meats and cheeses first, then prepared foods (which always look good but to a graduate student are prohibitively expensive), then onto the fish products. Stop here for a moment, because you'll rarely see seafood this good, this fresh or this diverse in Colorado. Then continue and you'll come across the meats, with the beef taking the spotlight. I've cooed and oggled this part of the store many times, flirting with the prime cuts inside until the staff have to peel me off the glass. If you turn around there are some dry goods on the shelves, usually of an artisinal or fancy brand, and an island section that is the coffee and baked goods station. The baked goods can be purchased on the spot of course, and the folks at the prepped food place can dish up a mean sandwich, the menu for which hangs from the ceiling. Look up, and ye shall see the glory of Tony's. Next door is a beer and wine place, called Tony B's which used to be directly associated with Tony's Market, but is now a technically separate establishment that warrants its own review. Of course, all this greatness doesn't come without a price. This is an expensive store. A very expensive store. There are things you can find here that will be cheaper elsewhere. That's why I recommend coming here exclusively for the baked goods, the seafood and the meats. I have found nothing comparable elsewhere except maybe Whole Foods. Tony's Market is so well stocked, so dedicated to quality, so...cozy, that sometimes I come here just to tour it like a museum. read more

Of ALL the meats, what's your favorite meat? It doesn't matter, because Tony's gonna have it for ya! A virtual cornucopia of meat styles! One word. Linguica! (They have other meats too, but that's all I care about. This week.) For such a small store they have lots of variety. Great sauces, mixes, jellies/jams, seasonings, fresh veggies, ready-to-prepare meals, pastries, lions, tigers, bears OH MY! And their own brand of marinara is excellent. I'm getting hungry. They also have a place in the back top grab some vino or a 6 pack, although the selection is small. Ok, first I'm going to say my family has been in the New York Delicatessen business for nearly 100 years, myself included. Having said this, I think I know a good sandwich when I eat one (yes I'm tooting my own horn). When we moved from the east coast 4 years ago I thought I would never find a good sandwich out here, or at least not one close by, turns out I was totally wrong. Tony's seems to be the closest thing you'll get to a NY style Delicatessen out here, and lucky me it's only a mile away. They have a great selection of meats, specialty items and the look and feel of a great NY Deli. More importantly they serve Boar's Head provisions (cold cuts/Deli meat) and you can't make a good sandwich without it. I've ordered a number of sandwiches from them and they're always great and the prices are better than NY. For the same price as the sandwich in NY you also get a bag of chips, a cookie, pickle and a mint. They also have a good selection of fresh made pasta salads, mac n cheese, meatloaf etc. The only negative thing I can say is that they are slow. Sometimes REALLY slow. Again, I think I have to reduce my expectations here because NYers are impatient, I'll admit it. Otherwise, great food, friendly staff and a damn good sandwich. read more

Oh good heavens in a butcher counter. This place is amazing! Why has it taken me so long to check out Tony's?! I came in wanting to find a brisket that I could cure for my annual St. Patty's Day corned beef. It's getting harder and harder around this time of year to find brisket that hasn't already been cured for corned beef, but someone recommended Tony's and I decided to give it a whirl. And, my my what tasty looking meats! I didn't think anything was unreasonably priced, though I only did one quick price check - tri tip is $9.99/lb which is what you can typically expect to pay in the grocery store. I was also pleasantly surprised that they had other gourmet goods and sweet treats, plus a stellar looking deli counter. Me thinks I need to spend some more time checking this place out! They also have what they call a Tony's Card, which is basically your grocery store-like savings card. It gets you the sale price, so if you think this place might be for you - fork over you info. Yeah, my new favorite specialty food store in Denver. I wanted to eat EVERYTHING. My friend was cooking Tri Tip for dinner, and their cuts of meat were excellent. They even had some marinated meats using marinades they make from scratch (none of that salty bottled crap). Great bakery, fresh, local produce, local salsas, sauces, etc. LOVE LOVE LOVE. of course, if you're looking for soda and some tortilla chips, this isn't the place to go. They have that stuff too, but it's pretty expensive (as I would expect because they probably don't move a pallet of Lay's potato chips every day like King Soopers...thank goodness). AND THEY ACCEPT DEBIT/CREDIT CARDS. I live in PA now (boo) and most of the specialty meats places are cash only. I'm guessing it has something to do with most of the farms/butchers out here being amish? Yes? No? Okay, really I have no idea. Maybe I should learn more about the amish now that I live in PA Dutch country. ANYWAY TONY'S IS AMAZEBALLS. Rock on, Tony. I've never had a problem with what I've purchased at Tony's. Yesterday I ducked in there right before closing time to buy a birthday cake. We all thought the German chocolate cake I got ($14.99) was delicious. As was the last birthday cake we got at Tony's, a vanilla/white chocolate confection with raspberry filling. Same affordable price and much better than one I had picked up previously at Cakeheads. I don't shop regularly at Tony's, but now and then I buy meat or cold cuts there. We usually try to get their fresh oysters for our Christmas Eve oyster stew, but they often run out. I also bought a yule log cake there one year for Christmas that was gorgeously decorated and super-delicious. Again, I've always been happy with the quality and service at Tony's, but some things can be a bit on the spendy side. read more

My sister and I had a massage at a nearby spa in Castle Pines. I promised her lunch afterwards so we looked at a restaurant, but I told her we had to walk around the corner to Tony's. She had never been (she lives in Steamboat). Well, she is quite the gourmet chef, so when we went into Tony's she was astonished!!!! We spent about an hour, and multiple goodies later, we had breakfast, lunch, dinner and lots of snacks. I love taking friends and family into Tony's because they become instant converts! This place is local, established, and well known! I've never gotten an even mediocre cut of meat or fish here. My visits usually involve getting a special cut of meat for holidays or special events. They say you can tell the quality of a restaurant or other establishment by how busy the parking lot is on a consistent basis. Well, every time I've come here, or even just driven by, it's always jam-packed! I came into purchase a nice prime rib roast for Christmas dinner tonight and despite the larger than normal crowd, I was waited on almost immediately at the meat counter. I had a few questions about the cut and the prep and the butcher came from behind the counter and answered each of my questions and even said he'd cut some of the extra fat from the rib roast for me! The workers here are always prompt and kind. Another great aspect of Tony's are the homemade sweets and treats. I believe most of them are made locally and delivered to them daily. If you want a special treat like cannolis then this is the place to get it. The only con is that the Dry Creek location is outgrowing itself. The parking is usually pretty tight and at busy times it's a bit claustrophobic to get around. But part of me wants it to stay quaint and unique. That's half the reason I go here! They also have a small produce and grocery section. I wouldn't mind seeing them increase the offerings just a bit more for these. But I realize this is a specialty shoppe. If you're craving some alcohol with your special meal, they've got a wine shop located just behind the main building, although I've never ventured into it. Despite the location and size (hence the 4 stars and not 5) it's fantastic! Just be prepared to have all of your senses dazzled and to spend a bit more than you would at a larger establishment for meat and seafood. read more

My review is based on my first-time visit after the Christmas rush where apparently dozens of customers were willing to wait in line to get inside this market: I quickly found that some of the previous reviewers must have had a poor experience for reasons unknown, but I was greeted by a team of what I would call very young professionals. The entire staff except one were all under the age of 30 and asked me how I was doing and if I wanted to taste some product. I found the type of premium Italian olive oils I cannot find elsewhere, excellent options for preserved fruits, Boars Head and other premium sliced meats, smoked cheese, etc. There's also a good variety of sausages and even prepared / marinated meats. The diverse offerings will no doubt encourage me to try more new foods with which I have no experience. I'll be headed back, but try to get in during the less busy times so I don't feel rushed by other customers. read more

I was asked to visit Tony's by an exceptional young man named Strahan who is an employee, and a family friend who knows my affection for any neighborhood deli. One day I was posed with a dilemma. I wanted to make Muffuletta sandwiches and to my surprise was finding it terribly difficult to find the Mortadella and Giardenaire required by my recipe. I happened to be in the area one morning working out at Lifetime with my wife and kids, so we decided to stop in for the first time, if anything to visit Strahan, but in the back of my head to evaluate the deli for future patronage. The first thing I noticed were the tight quarters... They certainly try to pack everything possible into their limited space.... And to my surprise the have a great deal of items you would expect, but rarely find in Delis these days. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety, and even more pleased to find the ingredients I was seeking for my Muffuletta. Though slightly pricey, the Mortadella was fresh (again rare as this meat is not extremely popular). In addition my children were almost mesmerized by the desert case..... We ended up purchasing quite a good deal of items including a couple of desserts for the kids from the deli case. This has now become a tradition my kids expect every time we visit, to get a dessert from the case and to see Strahan. Where at one time we had heard of, but never visited Tony's, we are now regular customers. I find it worth the extra coin to get the service only provided by a neighborhood deli with employees such as Strahan. They even let him take time when we visit to stop what he is doing and serve us. We love the personal touch. The meats are great quality, and the service impeccable and personal. My kids LOVE the desert case and the few items they have that are hard to find elsewhere make this place one of my favorites. The price point and the fact that their sandwiches, while very good, could be improved are the only reason this place does not get five stars. If you don't mind spending a little extra to support that local market feeling, I HIGHLY recommend Tony's. read more

Now start by admitting that the price is high. As such, normally when I go to Tony's it is a guilty indulgence. Their pastry case would make my personal trainer cry, but boy does it make me smile. Everything in there is delicious, but it can't be at all good for me. They also carry Sweet Action Ice Cream, which is to die for. Also, they carry some amazing soft caramels at the counter, which while I know they are exactly what I am told not to eat, they are just what I want. They also have a sandwich area, which for a place that puts meat on bread, is as good as any other place that puts meat and cheese and sauce on bread. Nothing to write home on that. They do have some very delicious pre-mixed / patty formed cheeseburgers. If I want a tasty burger, and I am willing to grill it, but want minimal time investment in non-standing-in-front-of-grill time, a great option. Baked goods are a little sparse, which does kinda ruin it if you grab great burgers and have to go elsewhere for the buns. But still, GREAT burgers for 0 time investment in forming / mixing them. A guilty pleasure, but boy is it a pleasure. read more

The quality of groceries is unsurpassed and the variety of gourmet products I can stock up on is amazing! My fav is the cannoli, twice baked potato and Tuscan Quiche. Family gatherings are so difficult during the pandemic. We're a high-risk household and take distancing/safety requirements very seriously. We just had a terrific birthday "gathering" with a Tony's (Centennial) catered lunch. We gathered by "bubbles" outside and everyone had a separately packed lunch, even a few that needed special attention for allergies. I had a meatball sub from here and it was delicious! The best deal is to do the sandwich combo as it includes chips, pickle & the best darn chocolate cookie I think I have ever had only for 80 cents more. It was busy when I stopped in here but everything looked delicious. Oh also got an awesome iced brownie for later. Of course later is a relative term and it was consumed between me and my colleague only about an hour after lunch. I wish Tony's was closer to either my work or home but it is not--good thing as I would be here quite regularly which would affect both the pocketbook and the waistline. read more

What an amazing place for the specialty type items you don't find at your typical chain type grocery store. Above and beyond the specialty features the highlight of Tony's is the meat/seafood market. We are new to Denver and are just beginning to miss some of the niceties we had grown accustomed to in Arizona. In Arizona we had AJ's Fine Foods, here in Denver Tony's Market is a definite replacement for some of those specialty type items and high end meats. I stumbled across Tony's by reading a review by one of my Yelp friends and decided to give it a try. We fell in love as soon as we stepped in. After spending an hour in the place visiting with the manager and butcher we left with a variety of things such as the pulled pork BBQ, stuffed portobellos, crab cakes, green chili sausage, some cheese and other specialty sides. I'm originally from Texas and BBQ is something I critique quite often. I will have to say that the pulled pork from Tony's is some of the best I've ever had. If you visit Tony's you have to take a sample with you. The staff at Tony's was amazing, the butcher took the time to visit with us and answered all of our questions without seeming to be in any hurry. If you are looking for something special for a stay at home Valentines Day dinner they have an amazing Dinner for Two offer going on. You used to carry one that was the best I had found. this time I went in looking for it and was told that you stopped carrying it and were making your own. Well I tried "your own". I go back and forth on 3-4 stars on this one. It is a little overpriced in some areas, but I have found some good deals on fresh fruit, and have had more than one great meal from their deli. I think the only thing for me is that sometimes it can be slowwwww. The staff is always friendly, but the pace isn't fast. And that's okay if I have time to kill but this is near work, and sometimes I just want to pay for my stuff and go. It does have a local feel to it, because some of the people have been going there for years, so they like to chat to the checkout staff for a while. Nothing wrong with that at all just of course, when I'm in a hurry. If you are a meat eater (which I am no longer) this place is probably one of your best bets for a classic deli sandwich. I was given a gift card to go here. I get it...some people like to pay a ton of money when they want their food. I should have noticed by the cars in the parking lot. I bought some cheese and deli meats and some bread and a few other picnic items. I was blown away at the cost. The meats were fairly priced, but everything else was two to three dollars higher than a regular store. The nice thing about it was the bakery. They did have some nice goods there. When you are ready to graduate from BBQ apprentice to BBQ master, you come here. Seriously, all you have to tell your friends is "I'm grilling some meat from Tony's". They will look at you with awe, then be pissed if you didn't invite them. Best place to buy meat for your grill bar none in the Denver Metro area. I love the Santa Maria Tri Tip Roast. The NY Strip and other cuts can be pricey, but if you know what you are doing, it's certainly a hell of a lot cheaper to buy from here, grill your own, than to go to Morton's or Shanahan's or some other upper echelon steak place. And those places are envious of Tony's. They do sell other foods here other than their meats. I've never had a sandwich from them - I'll have to try it. Only let down is their ready made desserts. I've never had one that has impressed me. You will never go wrong if you are grilling with meats from Tony's. Just make sure your talent is up to it. read more

Usually this place is not bad, but I am not happy today about the meatloaf. I stopped in last week, and they had no meatloaf. However, if I come back next Monday, I was told they would have it "special". I came back today (Monday), but no meatloaf. They did have the raw materials, but so does everyone else everyday.
