My tow driver, Adam Olvera, was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, polite, and professional. He loaded my Toyota Corolla up onto to his flat bed, secured it, and drove it safely to the dealership. Everything that you'd expect from someone helping you out of a bind. This past weekend I went out to start my 25-year-old Toyota 4-Runner and it was dead. I had had the battery replaced three years ago by Triple-A but have been told that 3 years is about the life-span of car batteries here in the hot desert. I hoped beyond hope that it merely needed a charge and called Triple-A for battery service. The company that responded was Angelo's Towing of Palm Springs - listed here on Yelp under their old name of Tony's Auto Center but now known as Angelo's Towing. The service tech that came out was Juan. Gotta say, the company was a pleasant surprise for a towing company: they responded to the AAA service request right away and followed up with texts to let me know when I could expect the driver (Juan) - who showed up on time. Juan was very friendly (always nice when dealing with a less-than-pleasant situation) and took his time testing and charging the battery and explaining what he was doing and what it meant. Based on his tests, he felt the battery would hold the charge and be fine - which it was for two days but unfortunately when I went out the second day, the battery was once again dead. AAA once again sent out Angelo's towing - this time the service tech was Hector - equally friendly. I know it might sound funny in a towing company review, but it was nice to deal with friendly guys who were there to help. That's not always the case. Hector diagnosed the battery again and came to the conclusion that it was beyond resuscitation and needed to be replaced. Unfortunately, it was not under AAA warranty as the battery had itself been a warranty replacement three years prior and warranty replacement batteries are not warranted by AAA. Hector told me a replacement battery - which he had on the truck - would be $244. As tempted as I was to just have him do it, I called Costco and found that I could get the battery I needed for only $138 - so I thanked Hector for coming out so quickly and for his diagnosis - and I chose to buy the battery at Costco. Bottom line: Angelo's Towing was a pleasure to deal with: excellent communication, timely service, friendly, helpful service techs. read more

Today I called AAA to have my vintage Corvette towed to a nearby shop as it was having battery & electrical issues. Adam arrived quickly and helped jump my car so we could back it out of the garage in order for it to be loaded onto his truck. When we arrived at the shop, Adam was so careful in charging it and unloading it, then parking it at the shop. He was super nice and I was so grateful I had to give him a tip! I'm not doubting his review, but Derek H made a false accusation with his photo description}}}*Yelp recently removed that photo I had that dreadful moment -- my car wouldn't start inside my garage and pretty much knew I needed a new battery. I contacted AAA and they quickly dispatched a tow truck driver to me and I received text alerts too. Within minutes the technician Eddie called to inform me he'd arrive in 10-15 minutes. "Wow, what service" I expressed to him. Eddie was so nice & friendly and performed a complete diagnostic check on my car battery and thought it's probably time for a replacement. He didn't pressure me to make a purchase and claimed the battery voltage was still okay and might hold a strong charge, but the amp reading was very low. Since he/we couldn't see the date on the battery to determine how old it was, he suggested to remove the battery to see if the date was hidden on the side or bottom. To both our surprise, it was the original battery that came with my car. I have a great memory but wasn't sure if I had ever replaced this battery and was uncertain if the last time I called AAA was for my other car. Eddie was just as shocked as I was that the battery lasted so long and still borderline okay. Still, he didn't pressure me to buy a new battery and gave me a quote that was about the same price elsewhere. At that point, I was convinced & sold on needing a new battery and didn't want to deal with the same thing happening again in the near future. Within minutes, the battery was replaced with a comparable & compatable battery for my car. I couldn't be more pleased with my experience with Tony's Auto Center...and was so impressed with Eddie and his integrity, I called Tony's afterwards to compliment him. Beware of this towing company. I had a very disappointing experience after they were dispatched through AAA. Despite AAA confirming that the company accepted the service request, they never showed up--and worse, left me completely stranded. Even after AAA followed up with them directly, there was no resolution or accountability. They were contacted through AAA. It was a rainy day and the roads were packed and they were busy. I just thought my EV was dead due to being gone on a long trip. Tonys came and suggested we try to boost the auxiliary battery first. Voila! That's all it was. The aux battery had discharged and once boosted I was able to drive to Lexus to have it evaluated. Called AAA because I needed a jump on my motor home chassis battery. They sent Danny M from Tony's Auto Center, who did the jump, but also answered some key questions regarding my rig's battery history. I decided that likely I needed a new battery due to past problems with it holding a charge . He was extremely informative and told me of several options but was sent at my request for just a jump as the battery was only 2 years old, and not a battery evaluation. He contacted their office and Jose was sent with the diagnostic equipment and a new battery (just in case) and performed testing and confirmed the battery needed replacement. Done in a half hour and thanks to AAA, a 3 year replacement guarantee if it goes bad. Price was less than a local national chain and done at my home. Very pleased! I'd like to tell you that it was one of the most horrible experiences that I have ever had with a towing company in my entire life. The company called me 4-5 times confirming more and more information and didn't bother to dispatch a driver for more than 30 minutes after the call to AAA was made. Leading the tow to not arrive at the scene of the accident until an hour and thirty minutes after it had occurred. Leaving my automobile in the middle of heavy traffic. When the driver finally arrived not only was he rude and insistent that we take the car to his lot instead of where it needed to be so it could be repaired. He also demanded we leave the scene of the crash while he loaded the car. When we tried to provide him with directions to where the car needed to go he was adamant that he knew where the car was going, and then proceeded to take it to the wrong place. Leading to another tow on our record in order to fix his mistake, as the company insisted that we were in the wrong and would not take any responsibility. The whole company and everyone we spoke to was incredibly rude and took no accountability for their horrible service. read more

6/24/24 I saw some rocks I wanted for my garden and drove on a dirt road to collect them and I counted 130 steps, 325 feet from my truck to the asphalt road. Got stuck in a sand trap and called AAA. They sent me Tony's Auto Center Towing. AAA does not cover past a certain point from the road. I get it, OK. He looked at my truck and said it was a half mile from the road! He mentioned that he needed to get a 4x4 to pull out my truck. OK. He quoted a $700 price to pull out my truck that was just 130 steps from the road. I said no way and he turned around and walked away. I was stranded in 100 degree heat! In desperation, I had a small shovel and worked for an hour and a half in the heat and I amazingly got out of the pit! This is an accurate account. They could have done far more to resolve this situation. A total ripoff. You make your judgement on using this company outside of the AAA parameters. They should not be affiliated with the AAA in my opinion read more
