I had the opportunity to meet one of the nice young doctors; I can't remember his name, but he was a tall gentleman, light-skinned with dreads. I can tell he was young, and I was happy to see a Black man. The staff was a good mix of many African Americans (Black), which definitely made me want to try the place out--almost all Black staff, including doctors, nurses, and dental assistants, or proper terms, dental hygienists. Don't forget the lovely Latino ladies too! The atmosphere was fun and professional; I would definitely be back to support the business. They are even open on Saturday and Sunday--seven days a week! EMERGENCY DENTAL SERVICES IS A SCAM!!!…read more I was referred to this office by Emergency Dental Services, which is a total SCAM. At the time I made the appointment, I was charged $25 as a non-refundable fee to confirm an emergency appointment on a Sunday. I went ahead and paid the fee as I was making the appointment for my daughter who was experiencing excruciating tooth pain. However, on the day of the appointment, as we were filling out the online paperwork prior to the appointment, the paperwork indicated that we would be charged an additional $50 for records!! First of all, we were never told that up front. Secondly, this was for an emergency visit, NOT to become a regular patient, so, records should not have been required. (Also, the paperwork was only sent about 30 minutes prior to the appointment even though I had made the appointment the day before). We went into the office to ask about the $50 fee and were told we would NOT BE SEEN unless we paid the $50!!! Needless to say, we walked out. I was not expecting to receive a refund of the $25 fee, as I had been advised of that upfront. However, a couple of days later, while looking at my bank account, this same $25 fee to Emergency Dental Services was listed as a RECURRING payment!!! I immediately called my bank and advised them that this was NOT a recurring payment but only a one time payment. My bank said they could place a STOP payment on that particular merchant for any possible future withdrawals, and they also advised that I should contact the merchant as well. I then called Emergency Dental Services and asked why it had been posted as a RECURRING payment but the person I spoke with seemed totally clueless, said this had never happened before, and assured me that it was only a one time payment. Can you say SKETCHY AF?? I don't believe them for one second, especially after they tried to slip in the $50 fee for records. I am so glad I caught this on my bank statement and was able to place the Stop payment with my bank. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS IF YOU GO THROUGH EMERGENCY DENTAL SERVICES!!!! I have not lived at the that Dr. Roach had on file in five years. I gave them my new address. They have been sending the statement there. I received an email yesterday stating my bill was past due. She was able to effectively find and treat a problem in one of my molars. My review has more to do with the office policies and the staff. So, I went for my first appointment and I was very happy, then I was referred to an endodontist and he was also very professional. I was scheduled with Gwinnett Family Dentistry (GFD) for a second appointment to finally get a crown in my molar, so they call me (GFD) and schedule my appointment, very nice lady, never mentioned any of their policies regarding changes or cancellations. On a Thursday, i receive a confirmation call from GFD and again, the nice lady never mentioned any of their policies or how long the procedure will take. So I confirm that I'm attending to my appointment, thinking that the procedure will take about an hour like in my first appointment, but what do I know??.. I'm just the patient who's never ever had a crown treatment before. So I call the day of my appointment, which was Monday, around 7:30-ish... I get Ingrid on the phone and I ask her how long is the treatment going to take? and she says "2 hours", and obviously I had no idea of the length because I was never informed. So I panic and I tell her that I can't make it because of work, I didn't know it would take 2 hours, and I have to reschedule..... I understand that I'm calling at the last minute, BUT.. Aren't they (GFD) supposed to inform you of these details before your actual appointment?? Anyways, she tells me there is a cancellation fee, and I tell her that I'm NOT cancelling, I'm rescheduling because I was not informed that the procedure would take that long. So she insists that is the same because is in the same day, less than 48 hours before my appointment. I get very upset, and I tell her that if they charge me a cancellation fee I will go to another dentists, obviously Ingrid doesn't care. She tell me that the administrator will be at their office the next day and she will call me... After a few minutes I call back and ask Ingrid how much the cancellation fee is?.... And her answer????.... " I don't know, the admin will call you tomorrow"... that never happened.... A week after, I receive a bill from them, it's only for $15, the original amount was $50 but after some credit they made I only "have" to pay $15, NOT my point... So my problem is..... Ingrid, works in that office, SHE tells me about the cancellation fee, but she doesn't know the amount.... So, how am I supposed to know about their policies if they never ever EVER mentioned them to me, the policies are not in their website and I was never informed by any of their staff, not when I scheduled my appointment and not when the nice lady called me to confirm my appointment.... But I have to know them????? Can someone please tell me what is the logic here????
