Pasadena likes to name it's restaurants Top's or Tom's or Tam's . Hahaha This one is Tom's #31 , newly remodeled. It's got 50s vibes but newly remodeled. Interior with nice art work and classic hard rock music was an excellent energetic start for a good day. One can see his/ her self sitting there weather you are 18 or 81 years old it's great feeling to be there and difficult to explain. Cross my table was an retired gentleman reading his newspaper and enjoyed the meal next a young man watching his vids on his phone . That tells everything about this place. Food itself was great and as Taft were amazing. I felt the freshness in ingredients. But I like low salt plates and it was perfect for me ,if you like a lot of salt in your plate then you need to add it yourself but whole thing taste great. read more

Thought I'd try the biscuits and gravy as breakfast for dinner. It was just average. Of course it didn't seem fresh (so maybe they shouldn't do an all day breakfast menu?). The cashier took my order at the order board but when I got to the window quoted a totally wrong price. It's was for a different size order. Went to Tom's because it had been recommended to us. Went at lunch time and it wasn't busy. Order a burger combo and a Tom's hotdog. Menu on wall had small print about ingredients on the hot dog, so when it was brought to the table I was totally put off by the mayonnaise. If I had known I would not have ordered it. The hamburger was nothing special. When looking for a table, most tables were dirty and some even still had dishes that needed to be bussed. I went to this restaurant to eat breakfast and I was waiting in line for about 5 minutes and I was next to order and this Spanish lady cuts in front of me and starting to order, and I told her I was waiting in line before her and she literally got upset with me because she said she did not see me when I was in front of her. I told her I was in line next. She-had the nerves to get upset with me! What I did not like is the cashier took her order alway even after telling him I was before her. This is just bad customer service!! Or it is because she is Spanish and the cashier who taking order Spanish too! This is discrimination!!' Unbelievable rudeness today. Came to pick up an online order. The lady in the front showed me the food but refused to give it to me after confirming. Went to my car to grab my phone for the confirmation and still did not hand me the order, only one online order so I was the only order. Been coming to this place for awhile now, I feel like the quality of food has been declining recently. The breakfast is actually very good and had been for some time, it's the dinner and lunch food that's been not so great lately. First off I want to say that they need to change their website and or Yelp hours of operation. Half the time it says it's open to a certain time and every time we go there early to mid evening they are closed but it says they should be open. The burgers used to be good, now they are very mediocre, patties aren't moist, bread stale. Today I got a veggie burger because for some reason they took the turkey burger off the menu. I'm not a vegetarian just looking for a slightly healthier option. The bread was hard and stale on the outside and then just fell completely apart in the inner part of the bun. My whole sandwich crumbled a few bites in. The veggie burger is ok, couldn't taste much of the patty but could taste the mayo and onions more. My husband got the pastrami sandwich and it was hard and dry, very dry. Definitely not anywhere as good as The Hat. The zucchini is actually good, nice thick pieces and most of the time not soggy. The people are always nice and accommodating. One time I did have a weird experience when asking for red onions on my burger, the lady replied that they only had purple onions. Clearly not the smartest reply. I'm verging on not coming to this place anymore unless maybe for a random breakfast visit. read more

The food is good, but the service was pretty scatter brained. Also, FALSE ADVERTISING on the EBT accepting. There's a sign that says "we accept EBT." IT'S A LIE! People, don't put signs up saying that! It's misleading and it's super unprofessional. I had plenty of money on my EBT and I entered my PIN number correctly. I KNOW I ENTERED IT CORRECTLY! How I know I did is because it worked at EVERY PLACE I used it on that accepts it. You all need to do a better job. Either don't false advertise or do something about your card machines. I had to leave a 3-Star review simply because business owners need to stop lying and taking advantage of hard working customers that work hard for their money. They literally fooled us. At least on the menu next to the "Breakfast Burrito" name put an asterisk (*) and say "small size" so we know to order 2. I'm going say one thing: basic. I've usually gone there for breakfast- the specials are a good deal and the overall prices are reasonable. Scrambled eggs, sausage and pancakes are very good. Hash browns are just ok. My boyfriend liked chorizo and eggs - comes in a burrito with bacon. He rated it a 4 out of a 5. Service is fast and courteous. They always come around and refill your coffee. It's fast, tasty, convenient and inexpensive. A good, basic place for breakfast. I've had a burger there and it was just ok. My boyfriend liked the pastrami sandwich. One criticism is the eggs get cooked of fast. I like they'll bring you condiments quickly. But the person who took our order got it all twisted. Missing items or did not put my coffee on the order and when I asked for it, she said I didn't order one. Then my friend ordered a coffee and OJ. Went there today, September 7, 2023, for a bacon and egg Burrito and black coffee; the last time I ate there was in June 2021. I asked for the hash browns on the side and Pepper Jack Cheese instead of Cheddar. The clerk was pleasant enough and said, "OK!" A very pleasant man. Of course, I trusted the workers and didn't check the order before pulling off. When I finally got home to enjoy the burrito, there was less than one strip of bacon in the burrito, no vegetables that were listed on the menu, and NO CHEESE. This order cost me $11.99. I almost gave the guy a tip, but there was no tip line on the receipt and I didn't have any cash. I get it, breakfast time could be rough if too packed, so I get that pre-making food to serve the rush needs to be done sometimes, but there was no line on a Tuesday morning at 745am, no one in front of me. Used to be good in the past, not anymore. The last two times I ate there, including today, I got sick within an hour. Also problems with lack of cleaning tables and leaving food on the floor. I noticed that the person who handled the cleaning, was touching dirt and cleaning tables, did it without gloves and didn't wash his hands and then handled food. Had a friend who got ill eating their hamburger which was greasy and drippy. Mcdonald's seemed like a better burger than this place. I had an omelette which made me sick . This place is pricey. We've tried this place out a couple of times and have good experiences. The employees have always been polite. Our second visit the woman taking our order was very welcoming. Special requests were taken without complaint and the food made correctly. The omelets, hah browns, breakfast burritos and burgers are good and tasty. This is a great location if you want a good breakfast later in the day too. It looks like a lot of the negative reviews are about the drive thru. We walked in a ate there during each of our visits, and our orders were fresh and accurate, so it is unclear where the disconnect is. The food here is so middle of the road it is as much above my notice as it is below it. The burgers have buns, lettuce, tomato, meat and all the typical condiments found at the end of a booth. Nothing special. Fries are not made to order, so your mouth lining will remain intact. The soft drinks may or may not meet the delicate balance of seltzer-to-syrup. Chicken strips, salads and sandwiches are so ordinary you will will leave feeling incomplete. We are nothing unless we achieve exceptional heights and the food at Tom's is far from exceptional. The prices are also ordinary and will not make you run away. Contrary to popular belief, there are many advantages to being average: Tom's always has a table available; Tom's never has long lines; and Tom's never has long waits for food. My favorite that I can seem to not order each time I go is the 50/50 burger. It has ground beef and ground bacon, it makes it juicy and so delicious. Customer service is always great. I write this to warn you about the chicken and waffles. Do not order them. I have been going to this place for years, and feel compelled to warn people about this dish. It sounds like a good deal because you get 4 pieces of chicken and a waffle, but the chicken is absolutely disgusting. It taste extremely greasy and fatty but worst of all, they are extremely small and dwarfed. It almost doesn't look like chicken. I wish I took a picture. The wing doesn't look like a wing, the leg was the size of my pinky finger, I am not exaggerating. I know you may think this may just be one occurrence, but this has happened to me every single time I order this. The last time I sent the food back and asked about it, and was told by the manager they cannot do anything about it because that is the way they receive the 'chicken' from their supplier and they cannot do anything about it. They know and continue to serve it. What a shame. Today is a sad day . I ordered a full order of biscuits and gravy from Tom's this morning and this is what I got. I received 2 biscuits cut in half and not enough gravy to even cover the tops of the biscuits, usually they are smothered in gravy and there are 4 biscuits. You know what a stickler I am for customer service. I can't believe this store has gone to hell. Once upon a time One of the best breakfast restaurants in Pasadena. I'm guessing when the original manager who opened this store quit & all his amazing employees followed this was going to happen. I walked in for a chicken salad the other night Saw 2 cooks wearing there hats backwards & clowning around & a girl with a headset on sweeping the floor. She was the one that greeted me. The salad lettuce was brown but whatever & the ranch was terrible & watery. So because I'm stubborn the next morning on a Monday & only because I was working off of lake Ave , I went in for a quick breakfast, huge mistake Place was filthy dirty tables, hats backwards again & only 1 couple sitting @ a table.
