4.1 stars for Tom's! We came here after the Rose Parade on 1/2/22 for brunch. The restaurant was bustling and busy, but servers were still very efficient and attentive. I like how this place has cozy decor, plenty of seating for different size groups and no frills food. The menu has all your usual breakfast offerings for any craving you have- eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, hash browns, pancakes, waffles and fried chicken, burritos, burgers, even steak, fries, shakes, and more! All the classics of a homey diner. The food was tasty. Maybe not top quality, but it does the job and at this price point, it's a great deal! They also have their own parking lot. I love this place. The food is always good, and I've never had an issue with customer service. I usually order through the drive-thru, so the wait is always a bit long, but the food makes it worth it. I've ordered food, and the employees were were quick to double check my allergy and made sure all food was safe. Really went above and beyond. Safe to say if you've got any shellfish allergy like me you're good to go here!! Tom's is a local favorite despite the perpetual sign that they are hiring. Great food, huge portions, reasonable price, great service. Generally very good, clean, spacious, attentive and friendly staff. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. The food is great but every now and then there is one thing off as I mentioned in the photos hence the 4 star review. Other than that they make excellent pastrami sandwich, great chicken and waffles, burgers, and a great family special that can't be beat. Pasadena likes to name it's restaurants Top's or Tom's or Tam's . Hahaha This one is Tom's #31 , newly remodeled. It's got 50s vibes but newly remodeled. Interior with nice art work and classic hard rock music was an excellent energetic start for a good day. One can see his/ her self sitting there weather you are 18 or 81 years old it's great feeling to be there and difficult to explain. Cross my table was an retired gentleman reading his newspaper and enjoyed the meal next a young man watching his vids on his phone . That tells everything about this place. Food itself was great and as Taft were amazing. I felt the freshness in ingredients. I will never go here again. The person that cleaned the tables was extremely rude. I asked if someone could clean the tables we were waiting to sit at. His response was "I wish there were more of me. After he cleaned the table, he said we could sit. I asked if we could wait till he swept the floor. His response was "I will sweep it right now. No one has ever asked me to do that before. Thought I'd try the biscuits and gravy as breakfast for dinner. It was just average. Of course it didn't seem fresh (so maybe they shouldn't do an all day breakfast menu?). The cashier took my order at the order board but when I got to the window quoted a totally wrong price. It's was for a different size order. Been coming to this place for awhile now, I feel like the quality of food has been declining recently. The breakfast is actually very good and had been for some time, it's the dinner and lunch food that's been not so great lately. First off I want to say that they need to change their website and or Yelp hours of operation. The burgers used to be good, now they are very mediocre, patties aren't moist, bread stale. Today I got a veggie burger because for some reason they took the turkey burger off the menu. I'm not a vegetarian just looking for a slightly healthier option. The bread was hard and stale on the outside and then just fell completely apart in the inner part of the bun. My whole sandwich crumbled a few bites in. The veggie burger is ok, couldn't taste much of the patty but could taste the mayo and onions more. My husband got the pastrami sandwich and it was hard and dry, very dry. Definitely not anywhere as good as The Hat. The zucchini is actually good, nice thick pieces and most of the time not soggy. The people are always nice and accommodating. One time I did have a weird experience when asking for red onions on my burger, the lady replied that they only had purple onions. Went to Tom's because it had been recommended to us. Went at lunch time and it wasn't busy. Order a burger combo and a Tom's hotdog. Menu on wall had small print about ingredients on the hot dog, so when it was brought to the table I was totally put off by the mayonnaise. If I had known I would not have ordered it. The hamburger was nothing special. When looking for a table, most tables were dirty and some even still had dishes that needed to be bussed. Hash browns are just ok. My boyfriend liked chorizo and eggs - comes in a burrito with bacon. He rated it a 4 out of a 5. Service is fast and courteous. They always come around and refill your coffee. It's fast, tasty, convenient and inexpensive. A good, basic place for breakfast. I've had a burger there and it was just ok. My boyfriend liked the pastrami sandwich. One criticism is the eggs get cooked of fast. I like they'll bring you condiments quickly. Went there today, September 7, 2023, for a bacon and egg Burrito and black coffee; the last time I ate there was in June 2021. I asked for the hash browns on the side and Pepper Jack Cheese instead of Cheddar. The clerk was pleasant enough and said, "OK!" A very pleasant man. Of course, I trusted the workers and didn't check the order before pulling off. When I finally got home to enjoy the burrito, there was less than one strip of bacon in the burrito, no vegetables that were listed on the menu, and NO CHEESE. This order cost me $11.99. I almost gave the guy a tip, but there was no tip line on the receipt and I didn't have any cash. This is always a great place when you are undecided on what to get. They have a variety of choices, great delicious choices.
