Came here after trying to go to the Fremont location listed in Yelp (that one does not appear to exist or maybe it's seasonal or something). This location was hopping on a Sunday morning. They have a good selection of doughnuts ... yeast, cake, cinnamon buns, shapes and sizes, etc. we got a mixed dozen. The cake doughnuts are soft and fluffy. The yeast doughnuts are chewy. All are tasty. The maple bacon and the cherry cake doughnuts were standouts for us. Service was efficient. It's a small shop with no inside seating (I don't think there was any outside either but I am not positive) so plan to take the to go. read more

I've never actually be in to a Tom's location but a vendor from IN brought their donuts in to us and they were really good. I tried a sour cream donut and I enjoyed it. The entire donut was covered in icing not just the top. It was so soft that it crumbled. The top was still very crispy. If I'm ever in Indiana and looking for donuts I'd definitly find a Tom's if there is one near. read more

The best ! You can't beat them anywhere. They have been a staple in the community since the 70's. Baked daily and fresh ! Yes their prices have gone up but so have the size of their donuts which are size-ably bigger. The have the best chocolate frosted cake donuts ever. read more

I don't eat donuts often because there's very few I like. 20 years or more, a chain donut place discontinued the one I really loved and ever since I've been on the hunt for the same donut.  I've never been able to find it.  Last week that same chain had a promotion saying they were bringing it back for a limited time, well....it was a scam. I went to two of them and neither had it. My heart was broken, but my craving for it was back with a vengeance. I reached out to Tom's and they made my dream come true.  I was expecting mediocre, and not because of them more because that's just how my life tends to hand things to me. Tom's hit it out of the park and I am so pleased that now I know I can send a message to them knowing I'll get exactly what I need and want. Wanted to love this local shop, but donuts were a disappointment as was the limited selection at time of our arrival (around 1). The hours on the door were wrong as the store was opened beyond the the posted time. The clerk at the counter was extremely friendly and helpful. The cream filled and cinnamon donuts were too dense and/or dry to my liking. Parking is right in front of store and easy access. read more

About 20 years ago, this used to be the premier coffee house/doughnut shop in Angola. They are still are open 24 hours a day. What was sort of shocking on my last visit? Everything after five years had changed, they had stopped serving food. The employees did not even know the names of the former owners. Jeff, Sally and Tony Sherman (just in case you wanted to know). The few doughnuts I tried where not made right? How did the employees blow the pre-blended mix, with too low of a heated oil? Was that the reason for the greasy taste, also the demonstrated skill level they showed? I wish I had taken a picture of both of them standing together. Both where end of the liners, one had missing front teeth with really wrinkled skin (a typical looking ex-alcoholic). The other was a fifty-five year old unemployable sounding male. Years ago I used to make drive out of my way to get there when going by Angola. I might make my way back, or try another coffee house. The one in Angola's monument circle comes to my mind. read more

I've had a lot of donuts over the years from a lot of different locations but Tom's Donuts always has been a favorite of mine. They have good prices, great tasting donuts, a wide variety of choices, several exclusive recipes, all of the standards, a number of locations, good coffee, and the majority are open 24 hours a day. The Angola location is right on the main drag of town and is easy in and easy out. The dining room was clean, didn't use the restroom. I was greeted when I walked in, the employee was friendly, worked efficiently and I was thanked and wished a happy holiday when I walked out the door. I would recommend this location to anyone for dine in or carryout. If you bring a dozen or two to work your employees or coworkers will not be disappointed at all. I know that I will have a merrier Christmas morning because I won't be cooking since I see nothing wrong with day old donuts. read more

These are the best donuts I have ever eaten. This is also the only place I have ever used a boat as my means of transportation in acquiring donuts. I even bought the T-shirt...these donuts made me silly like that. I heard from friends that there is usually a LONG line in the morning but luckily that wasn't the morning we went and I had a wild-man craving for fried dough + sugar. My boyfriend's family has a place on nearby Lake James. Before he ever took me to the lake house, he raved and raved and raved about Tom's. I was of course hesitant because (1) he had really built it up and (2) if given a choice between a donut or two chicken tacos, I would pick the tacos every single time. So my lack of a sweet tooth made me wary. Likes: Tom's is awesome. Super great. I grew up in the South, so I grew up with Krispy Kreme on occasion (but I decided early on that I only really liked fresh donuts, not the stale-ish kind you buy at the grocery store, yuck). I think I had an apple-something donut, some cinnamon bun-type thing, etc. And they were all great. Dislikes: There's too many donuts to choose from. I wanted to sample them all. A few years ago, Tom's used to be open 24 hours, not sure if it is anymore. My friends and I went there sometimes late at night to get donuts and play arcade games. It's just a classic local-yokel hangout type of place, and you will probably come out smelling like smoke. Tasty donuts though! :) read more

What happened to this institution, once so dearly loved by one and all? Our visit was disappointing in so many ways. The donuts were not fresh, but greasy and the flavor was off. The waitress had a foul mouth in front of customers and the windows and door were/are grimey. Maybe if I had restricted my visits to the drive-thru, I would not have this scene permanently fixed in my mind. Too bad, too big, too late. Oh yea, and the WIFI was undependable. read more

Born and raised in Angola, I remember going to Tom's on Saturday morning with my Dad. He'd pick out a couple doughnuts for himself and let me pick out one or two myself. Then he'd get a cup of coffee and chat with some of the other people there while I ate my breakfast and watched cartoons... My last few visits were a bit disappointing. I have eagerly awaited the coming of fall to enjoy the pumpkin doughnuts, and called one evening as I was preparing to leave work to see if they had any. The gentleman who answered told me they'd had some, but sold out already. I asked when he expected they would have more and told me the next morning. the next day I early for work thinking I would surprise my co-workers with fresh pumpkin doughnuts, only to be told when i got there they had none. I asked the lady at the counter when she thought they would have some and she told me, tomorrow morning. I explained that I'd called the night before and the gentleman I had spoken to had given me the same answer. She shrugged at me, as if to say it wasn't her problem, and told me , "Well we don't have any right now." I asked then if I could leave my name, phone number, and what I was looking to buy along with the quantity, so they could contact me when they were available and I could pick them up. I was given a piece of paper and they assured me they would call me when they had them. Two weeks passed... and I never heard a thing! Called a few more times, but with the same answer, we don't have any. FINALLY on a whim week three I stopped in, thinking I could just get some other doughnuts... guess what was sitting in the case...a dozen of my coveted pumpkin doughnuts. I explained to the girl, a new one at this point, about how I'd been waiting to get a call back about them and hadn't been contacted. she apologized the inconvenience... but that was all. As if this wasn't a disappointment, although a happy one as I finally got what I'd been waiting for... the store front was crawling with bees. Yellow jackets I presume. I'm not allergic or anything, but I know of many people in the area who are. and I'm sure they're attracted to the sweets...but as a business, how this is acceptable is beyond me. The Tom's Donuts in Angola has great donuts as long as you get there early on Saturday or Sunday morning. Don't buy them during the week and ESPECIALLY don't call in an order for a business or they will load your boxes with day old donuts and charge you full price. read more
