    I was hesitant to write this review - and mostly because I had been reading reviews before my appointment at this salon and found that the manager sometimes responds to negative reviews. And not necessarily in the "I'm so sorry you had a bad experience kind of way." So I'm going to try to be as objective as possible. However, I have to admit I went into my appointment with some nerves. I have been to Revelations before, maybe 9 years ago? I used to get my hair cut here and don't remember why I stopped. I'm pretty sure I also had a massage once. It must not have been memorable. Anyway, my husband purchased a gift certificate from their Valentines Day menu - "Treats for my Sweet" which included a chair massage, manicure and arm massage. I scheduled my appointment a few days in advance and found no problems getting an appointment in the evening. I booked my appointment for 5:30pm & confirmed that it was an hour time slot - giving me enough time to be home with my nursing baby before bedtime. The day of the appointment I called again to confirm and confirm the appointment would be one hour - since I didn't receive any reminder call or e-mail from the salon. I actually arrived at the salon a little early - probably around 5:15pm so I could settle in and take a breathe before my appointment. Did I mention I have a baby? Appointments like this are a real luxury and I look forward to carving out a little "me time". It doesn't happen with regularity. When I arrived I realized I had forgotten the gift certificate & was told it was fine, they had the information in their computer. They asked me to mail it to them. No problem, I said. They have a little station with coffee & tea - and a sign indicating you can help yourself. I got some tea and sat down in the waiting area facing the receptionist. I drank tea and read yelp reviews (and manager responses...). Five minutes after my appointment was supposed to begin, no one was in site. It was a quiet weekday evening and there weren't a lot of staff or clients. I walked around and looked at the boutique area & scoped out where my manicure would happen. At 5:40 the receptionist was back at the desk and I confirmed with her that I was in fact waiting in the right area - it's kind of a big salon and there are a few seated areas. She apologized and said they were running a little behind. She said they were short staffed. A few minutes later the manager came over and also apologized. She explained that my nail tech was working with a teenager who wanted nail art and it was taking longer than expected. She said she would be helping him finish that manicure & he would be right with me. At 6:05pm my nail tech came out from the spa and introduced himself quickly. I followed him into the spa area. As soon as we walked through the door the chair massage area was there and I was encouraged to sit my purse on a table. He asked if I've had any recent surgeries and then went straight to work. The pressure was perfect- but he was rushed. I could tell he was frazzled from running behind and going from one client to the next without much of a breathe in between. I realized as he was massaging that maybe I should have let me hair down? And I wasn't even sure how long the massage was supposed to be? Since my appointment was supposed to be an hour and that included a manicure I guessed maybe 15 minutes? He stopped twice, I'm assuming to check the time. I haven't really had a chair massage but he focused on my shoulders, back, low back and my neck - seemingly moving from one area of my body to the next without much flow. The pressure was great but I kind of wish a head, arm and hand massage was included. When it was done we moved quickly through the back hallway to the nail salon area. My nail tech had calmed a bit by then. I chose a color, sat down and he went right to work. He was a really nice guy. I could tell he was having a rough night and he still went out of his way to do a good job - but he was running way behind. There was a woman sitting with her feet soaking, waiting on him when we started my manicure. He checked with me every step of the way to make sure I was happy with everything and when I didn't really like the color I chose he was perfectly cool with me choosing another. He offered to get me a beverage several times. He tried to engage me in conversation, but really didn't attempt eye contact. He did a pretty nice job on my manicure. When it was over he apologized and said he needed to move to his next client- and that he would check on me. I sat and relaxed at his desk while my nails dried. After about 10 minutes I wasn't tacky and I popped around the corner and let him know I was leaving. He thanked me for being so understanding. I left the salon at 7:30pm - 2 hours after my appointment should have started. I missed bedtime - which was okay, but not my original plan. I was happy with my manicure, but it wasn't the relaxing "spa" experience I had anticipated.

    I grew up with a family in the business of salons and spas and was curious how I would receive an experience as a regular customer coming in for a haircut at a new place I've never been to before. As I noticed prior to coming the reviews were mixed, so I was prepared for anything. There's a parking lot in the back which was convenient and as I entered it had a quiet, tranquil vibe. The receptionist checked me in and let me know my stylist would be with me shortly. Reflecting on the transitions my aunts spa went through and the hospitality training we implemented, I would recommend that the experience of first arriving and checking in could be enhanced. For example, offering a beverage at this point would make sense while I wait, also finding out if I am a first time guest, if so offering me information and maybe a tour of the salon so I have awareness what else I can possibly return for in the future. My stylist came to greet me right on time for our appointment and took me directly to station for washing hair. I'm typically used to a consultation briefly before to get an idea what I'm looking to get done with my hair. I knew I just needed a simple trim so I figured it's all good. The stylist was very friendly and personable. She guided me to her chair for the cut and showed me how much we would cut off to get to the healthy hair and I concurred. She decided it best to dry my hair and do a dry cut. She was quick and did a nice job. I see a lot of potential in this place, just needs some tweaks in hospitality and customer retention to have me wanting to come back. It was a good experience and pricing is competitive and fair. I was able to use a spa finder gift card which was a plus since many salons don't take them. Hair feels soft and fresh and smells good too.

TRIAL&DAY OF I was a bit concerned to use a makeup artist b/c I was afraid they would put makeup on me-they've always done for everybody else instead of listening to what the bride would want. She was the very opposite. If I look back now at the requests I gave her I would groan of embarrassment but every reaction was honest and professional. She gave her professional opinion and always left the ball in my court to decide. I ended up completely changing my preferences by emailing her a instructional video on some KPOP singer's makeup. We didn't do a 2nd trial but after what she did from the 1st trial I knew she would do an awesome job regardless. She's got natural talent!! She worked with me on every twist and turn I asked and on top of that: She did a fabulous job! I absolutely LOVED my makeup on my wedding day. Shame on me I forgot to mention to her about my tattoo that needed to get covered up. I was sooo very thankful that she did everything to make it right! Everything about me that day was natural and perfect!! I couldn't have asked for a better makeup artist to entrust my face for my wedding. I recommend her to all my friends who are engaged or looking for a makeup artist for family photos or special events.

The first time we worked together, Audrey did an amazing job for my engagement photoshoot. She really listed to what I wanted and the end result was just amazing. Not too long after, we worked together again for my Boudoir photoshoot. I gave her a picture of what I was looking for, and the end-result was exactly what I wanted. I never felt so beautiful! Somehow she made my skin looked completely flawless in the picture and I didn't even want to wash my face off at the end of the photoshoot. What I love most about Audrey is that she really took her time to do her work and did not rush through it. You could tell that she was always very meticulous with her work. All in all, I would definitely recommend her to anyone who is looking for a make up artist. I plan to definitely use her again for my future photoshoots whether it be professional pictures or family pictures. Thanks, Audrey!
