I don't think I've ever left a Yelp review in my life but I'm super disappointed in my experience here. I was so excited to try this place and went here for the first time for a 1 hour 15 minute head / neck / shoulder / feet massage. She ended the massage 10 minutes early, and cut it short. Further, the days following, and still today, I am in SO much pain. She twisted my neck in some bizarre way, and I'm not prone to neck pain and I've received many deep tissue massages and I understand soreness after a massage, but this was not a deep tissue massage, so there should be no reason for any muscle soreness. This is more like a severely pulled muscle. I've been taking ibuprofen and I am still in a lot of discomfort. Overall I would never come here again especially after paying $172 (they automatically add in 20%). If I am paying this much I expect the full duration of the time I scheduled and paid for, and also a masseuse that uses care and consideration and doesn't rush the massage. So disappointed! also, the receptionist wasn't very friendly but I won't even hold that against them because I do understand some people aren't very social, but it made me feel not welcomed. I've been getting regular facials for two years, but decided to try somewhere closer to my home. I've always heard great things about Sacred Hour, and I was glad to see the offered an express facial. When I walked in, the receptionist was not friendly in the slightest. She even asked my a question, picked up her cell phone and appeared to be typing on it. Since she was preoccupied by her phone, she wasn't listening to me, and had me repeat my answer. I just found that extremely unprofessional. So I sat there and waited 20 minutes for my scheduled appointment, since they recommend coming that early. I'm not quite sure why... Finally, the esthetician came out and greeted me. She asked me about my skin. Then said she would leave so I could disrobe. I said, I'd like to keep my clothes on if that were possible. She said I was to take off my top. I replied that it made me uncomfortable and I've never had to undress for a facial before. She continued to argue with me about why I needed to undress. After a while, she said she supposed I could keep my bra on, or offered me to keep my clothes on but I would leave soaking wet. I already felt uncomfortable, and now there was no way I was staying after all this pressure to take off my clothes. So I put my coat back in to leave. She assured me I would still be charged the $100 if I chose to leave. I suggested that maybe a heads up on the website would be nice, so people might know that they were expected to undress. (There is a very small space on the website that says most body treatments are enjoyed without clothing, but silly me assumed that was for a massage and not an express facial). She proceeded to tell me that people assume and just know that is how a facial works. Again, I've never had a facial where disrobing was even an option. She told me she's been doing this for 26 years and anywhere she's ever train and visited, that's the way it's always been done. I just felt extremely uncomfortable, feeling such pressure to take off my clothes. I went to leave, and the door was locked. She told me I had to wait for the receptionist to come back so I could leave. This puzzled me, since I could just turn the knob and unlock the door myself, which is what I did. Cute digs but kind of a sketchy process. Booked a 60minute couples massage, price listed was $200 when booked in early April. You have to input your card info to make the purchase. Tells you 20% tip will be automatically added. All seems fair. 2 weeks later I go to my appointment and received a emailed receipt after for about $40 extra than what I was expecting. I was charged $220 (which increases the tip amount and taxes paid, also) for the couples massage that I had booked and inputted my credit card info agreeing to $200. Have a screen shot of the confirmation at $200. I call and am told "our prices are subject to change at any time". Which I understand prices can change but seems kinda sketchy you wouldn't even be told, let alone asked, regarding the price change. Never signed anything in store or online agreeing to the increased charge. Was given an email for the owner who never even responded. One of the best spa experiences I've had, and they're one of the only places I've found that offers a massage focused on the head, neck, and shoulders (it's their Indian Head Massage). I booked that for myself and an aromatherapy massage for my husband. Mine was wonderful. Katie did a great job asking all the questions (pressure level, areas to focus on) up front so that I could fully relax in peace throughout the massage. At no point during the massage did it feel like she was rushing through an area, which is something I've occasionally experienced elsewhere. She took the full 45 minutes...not 2 or 3 minutes shorter which is also something I've experienced elsewhere, more often than not. My husband did the aromatherapy massage with Allison, and he said it was the best massage he's ever had. I have heard great things about this place. My experience was not great. I felt like my 90 minute aromatherapy massage was a waste of my time. Since I'm a mom of two toddlers, I don't have much time to myself. It was a Mother's Day gift from my husband. The place is nice but my massage wasn't relaxing. It was more I was waiting for it to be relaxing and then it was over. The massage therapist was holding my neck in different positions for an unusually long time. When she was massaging me, it wasn't relaxing and I never really smelled the aromatherapy. She had me take two deep breaths at the beginning of the aromatherapy and that was it. Mostly I felt she didn't know what she was doing and kept wanting to believe she did because I heard such wonderful things about this place. What a waste of money and time. read more

We had a couple's massage scheduled for a Friday afternoon. An hour before the appointment (as we were walking out to our car to head to there), the spa calls and cancels our appointments, saying they did not have enough technicians for us. My (then) boyfriend was planning on proposing to me after our appointment, so their last-minute cancellation threw a wrench in the plans. In order to "make it right" they offered a 10% discount on an upcoming service - which is the same amount of discount if you sign up for their email blasts; ie: does not alleviate the situation. For such an inconvenient experience during such an important time, we felt the customer service should have done something to fix their error. Roles reversed and we cancelled, we would have been charged in full. Unfortunately, by reading other reviews, it seems like this may be more frequent than you would like with a spa. read more

Called Sacred Hour to book a pedicure and massage for Valentines Day for my wife and I. The girl on the phone was so rude said she couldn't book my services until she talked to her manager. One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had needless to say we will never be back. My wife has been a few times with her friends and had great experiences. This was my favorite spa in Cleveland until this past visit with lack of customer service. I've been coming to sacred hour for years and this past time I wanted to stop in and purchase a massage for my friend. I came in with the intent of paying for the massage and tip in cash so all she had to do was show up and enjoy. I was informed the system was updated and they unfortunately didn't have my credit card information anymore. Well I unfortunately didn't have my credit or debit card on me and the girl working at the front desk refused to set up an appointment for her. In my opinion that's terrible customer service. I was paying for the entire massage and tip so it's still beyond me why they needed my credit card information again to simply schedule an appointment. This place is a solid, beautiful spa -- and really the only one I've found in the area to compete with John Roberts in terms of polished professionalism and ambiance. AND it really exceeds John Roberts when it comes to ambiance -- the interior of the spa in Lakewood is stunning and makes you feel at peace. It's also just so cool that it's in an old converted house (not a storefront). Only thing that keeps me from 5 stars is that it's very pricey. I've been to a lot of spas and left this one feeling like the services didn't quite align with the price tag -- or, to be more specific, the Shirodhara massage was not quite worth the price tag to me. After a basic massage, the masseuse essentially pours a lot of oil on your head and just lets it flow through -- no accompanying deep head massage like I had assumed if someone is pouring a canister of oil on your head! I wasn't overly impressed with Sacred Hour. I came recently to their newer location. First of all, it was impossible to even find the entrance and there's no rear entry (HE-llo), so I parked in the exact wrong spot for the building. Something that would have probably been nice to know when booking the appointment: the best place to park and/or enter the building. Once inside, I almost laughed (-slash-vomited from claustrophobia). The "lobby" was seriously a box. There was another guy in there and if there were just one more person waiting, it would have been seriously uncomfortable. I will say that the woman at the front desk was very kind, offered to take my coat, etc. In fact, all of the staff at Sacred Hour were wonderful. It's just the space that was not so comfortable. In a place where you're going to be soothed, pampered and relaxed, the atmosphere didn't really help. I mean, it was decorated well. The lighting and music were nice. But it was tiny tiny tiny. Once checked in, I was brought to the waiting area, which was also ridiculously cramped and small. There was a choice of two places to sit. When I chose the lounge-type chair, I soon realized that the fountain on the table next to me was splashing me with water, so I moved to the other couch. I was offered water, which was deliciously cucumber-esque, but there was nowhere to put it while trying to read one of the magazines they set out. A little bit frustrating. The masseuse came to greet me after about five minutes, and brought me directly across the hall to a room that wasn't super small, but only because there were two beds inside. The room was closed off only by a curtain, which made me feel a bit self-conscious as I undressed, because I could see out of it through the side. (Not that anyone would be looking, but still, I like the comfort of a door.) I kind of wish that the lights were a little more dimmed than they were. The music was great though. I had a 75-minute relaxation massage, but to tell you the truth, I'm wondering if this masseuse more regularly does deep tissue. It wasn't that it was too hard, per se, because I kept thinking, "Should I tell her to ease up?" It was just the way she was kneading the muscles that was quite uncomfortable at times. I guess I just didn't really enjoy it. She was very nice, though, and you can tell that they try to make this studio look good and seem better than it actually is. Hurts so good. OUCH, OWW, OWWWW, OUCH, ARGHHHH, AGH, OWWWW... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. If you've never had a deep tissue massage, you need to get one. Yah, it hurts a bit...OK, it hurts a lot. But after, it's heaven. What hurts is the tension. As soon as it's released, the pain is gone. I came to Sacred Hour on a friend's referral. She said Tabitha, the owner, is the best. She was right! I came in with some significant back pain from some pesky knots. I asked for her to spend the entire hour on my back for the most part and that's just what she did. Awesome. I feel sooooo much better. The place itself is nice. Low lit and soothing. The eucalyptus oil was refreshing. The prices are reasonable as well. Only $50 for an hour. If you're looking to relax, this is the place. I've been coming here (and only here) for massages for a few years now, and have never had a bad experience. It's especially good if you're looking for deep tissue massage; that's their specialty. Lindsay is my favorite. I took my sister here yesterday as a birthday present. All I can say is WOWZERS! This place is the real deal, and I totally understand why it has such great reviews. If you are looking for a superior, but low-key experience you must try Sacred Hour. The atmosphere is so calming and classy without being over the top. The dark lighting, colors, and heavy fabrics are perfect for a spa environment. Who wants bright lights and lots of pink when you want to relax? We opted for the chill package - a one hour massage and a facial. We were given slippers upon arriving and offered a glass of wine, which we both declined at that point. We then met the lovely ladies who would be pampering us, and I went off for my facial and my sister for her massage. After our first treatments, we had a glass of wine and relaxed as the ladies prepared the rooms for our second treatment. We opted for the organic facials as we both have roscacea. It was my first time having a facial and 10-minutes in I knew that I'd be returning. The smells, the texture, the touch were all heavenly. Not only did it improve my skin, it improved my mind as well. I nearly fell asleep! Being my first facial I was a bit unprepared for the "extractions", but I survived and my skin looks amazing. The only thing I would do differently is not wear my contacts next time. I am really sensitive about my eyes, and I want to stress that (Brittany? Shoot, I can't remember her name) did NOTHING wrong. For my own comfort, I won't wear them next time. She was lovely and explained what she would recommend for our skin, and also how often she recommends receiving a facial. My sister and I both agreed that we received simply THE BEST massages that we've ever received. Tabitha, the owner took care of both of us. My sister opted for light/medium touch, and I opted for heavy as it has been awhile since my last massage. I left with no pain, other than the good kind that tells you your muscles have received a workout. The bed was very comfortable and warm, and Tabitha was very, very discreet. Let's be blunt: I'm picky about massage therapists, since one of my acupuncturist friends is also a (really good, and) qualified masseuse, and I've been worked on multiple times by someone who ran a massage therapy school for 30+ years. I went to another place near Sacred Hour in Rocky River, and it was ok, but nothing to write home about (first trip), and ultra-painful in-a-bad-way (second trip). Frustrating! So when I decided to search around for somewhere new, I was really pleased to get in for an appointment at Sacred Hour with very little notice. I was NOT disappointed -- in fact, I'm pretty sure that Audrey is the best deep tissue massage therapist I have ever had! She worked around some of my physical limitations, and concentrated on my worst bits (I type all day long, so my back, neck and arms are usually in knots) -- all better in a mere 30 minutes! I love this place! So when I got to Rocky River, i had alittle bit of a hard time finding this place since the sign is almost blocked by this wall that it faces. It's also a pretty small store next to all these gigantic fancy storefronts. I loved the atmosphere when I walked in the store though. It was infused with these zenful and calming music and smell and just really makes you feel like you're no longer in the middle of a huge shopping plaza. In addition, the staff members greeted me and they were extremely friendly and nice. My massage therapist, Lindsay, was awesome. We talked for about 30seconds on what areas I wanted to focus on and maybe what amount of pressure I'd like. When I started my session with her, she made sure the bed was warm enough for me and that the pressure was okay with me before she let me doze off into my sleeps (i woke myself up from my snores which i apologized about to her afterwards! I was embarrassed!!) Lindsay was very good about recognizing where my knots are and really focused on the more stressed areas. I was given a gift certificate to Sacred Hour and just sat on it for awhile. I had never had a professional massage and I suppose there were some questions (and nervousness) that I had about the entire process. Fast forward a few months and I had been plagued by a muscle that I pulled in my back at the gym. I decided to just get over it and call for an appointment. I have no baseline to compare Sacred Hour to in terms of the facility itself, but it is a small but well appointed space. The entrance was difficult to locate, but I finally figured it out. After checking in and filling out a short form I was ushered into the spa. My therapist met me in an intermediate waiting area and brought me back to the room where my massage was to take place. The room was small but comfortable with dim lighting and soothing music. The massage itself was amazing. Again, I have no comparison point as I have never had a massage, but it was one of the most amazing and relaxing things I have ever done. It was difficult to get off the table and the deep tissue massage turned me to jelly. As soon as I left I was already trying to decide when the next time I could get back for another. I am quite glad I finally used my certificate and I really look forward to going back in and trying out new services and staff. read more

This is a boutique spa, so don't come here expecting to get a plush robe, sauna, steam room, and locker room. The prices are extremely reasonable and fair and I think the owners take the boutique style into account when pricing the services. I had a prenatal massage, and at the beginning the pressure was far too light. However, after a few bits of feedback from me, my talented masseuse was able to continue and finish out my treatment at the exact level or pressure I wanted. My sister had a Swedish massage and she was really impressed with her masseuse and raved about how talented she was at working out all the knots and areas of tension in her neck and back. I was in desperate need of a deep tissue massage, and I'm so glad I found this place. I had never been, but I will definitely be back more than once! I got an hour-long deep tissue massage for $50 which to me, is a great deal. My technician, Katie, worked out some serious knots in my back which I can say today feel astronomically better today. She also spent some time on my legs which was awesome. She was very helpful and talked to me afterwards about my tension and some other massage options that Sacred Hour offers that might help me out. The inside of the rooms is dimly lit and very zen feeling. The technicians speak quietly and they have nice, soft music playing that doesn't feel over the top. I was so pleased with my service and the experience of being in the spa, it is definitely the type of place to go if you're really looking to relax, rather than going to a massage room in a loud salon. I was able to schedule a couples massage for a weekend morning with only a few days notice. We could pick the scented oils we wanted, slipped on some sandals and were handed a glass of wine then taken back to an even darker and calmer waiting room (where I proceeded to knock a water glass onto their nice rug. at least it wasn't the red wine!). We were then taken back to a room with two tables, asked how strong of a massage we wanted (as a first timer i went for "medium" and was strongly advised to stay away from "deep tissue" to start, which I'm glad!). Then we were given time to shake down to our underoos and crawl under the warm towels and blanket. The next hour flew by and when they said we could take our time getting up, I had to ask whether some people never get up. I think a lot of other reviews say it perfectly so I won't elaborate too much, but a few key highlights: - Atmosphere is very quiet, relaxing and professional. Nice lobby and even nicer waiting room. They suggest getting there about 15 minutes prior to your appointment to allow for relaxation. - I cannot vouche for the other employees, but Lindsay is simply amazing. Due to back and neck problems I've gotten various massages over the years, and Lindsay is hands down the best masseuse I've ever encountered. Professional, nice, curteous and thorough, I just bought a package of 12 appointments because of her stellar service. - Easy scheduling with call-reminders and a very fair reschedule policy. - the body worker I got was TREMENDOUS (sorry, I cannot remember her name).... top of the line real "bodyworker" ( i get massages all over the world, very often, and have been trained in shiatsu. So I sing out when I find a place that is there to heal you... not just go through the motions.) The only critique I had was that the reception area is very cramped with the 4 or so people all coming and going. And when I said I smelled a scent I wanted to buy that I actually smelt being burned as a candle right now, the receptionist just shrugged it off saying it could be almost anything ( there are many candles and scents for sale there, if she would helped me figure out which one I was smelling, I would've bought it) doh! Customer service here is HORRIBLE! I was really looking forward to trying this place out, as many of my friends had referred. My boyfriend booked a couple's massage for us as a Valentine's Day present. The ambiance of the spa and massages themselves were good, but the front desk employees were rude and disrespectful. They caused a scene in front of other customers too, which in my opinion is bad business. It actually ruined our massage experience and left us in a terrible mood. My mom, sister, and I have unofficially made Sacred Hour spot for catching up, getting pampered, and getting some time away from our little ones. Yesterday was the third time we used our Christmas gifts for each other at Sacred Hour. We each had a Swedish massage and facial. Our experience: 1. Scheduling- easy. They are very accommodating with groups. 2. Check in. Also easy. I had lost my gift card (I realized this en route), and they were able to look me up. The lobby is clean, modern, yet very relaxing. The decor says c'mon in...lots of grays, crisp whites, reclaimed wood, and unique styling accents. I got some of my own inspiration here. We changed in a small locker room, secured our valuables, and got into our fluffy white robes. On to the lounge upstairs... 3. Waiting. We didn't wait for more than a few minutes. 4. The services- a. facial. Wonderful! I had Jasmine, who was calming, kind, and used what felt like 20 incredible products on my skin. She also did some extractions, which I needed. My face felt amazing after. b. massage- I had Caitlin, and she was very good, too. She applied just the right amount of pressure, and was receptive to spots that needed more attention.
