I came here based on reviews that I tag on yelp, and this place didn't disappoint. I ordered the suggested sandwich, Philly, had it customized to my tastes, and never looked back. I sat at the bar and had the opportunity to watch the grill in action. As a chef, that's one of the things I enjoy, watching my food be prepared. The young lady was teaching a new guy the ins and outs of the flattop. I was impressed with her knowledge, and the patient way she was transferring it. You could tell these were people who loved what they do. The kitchie-cool ambiance of the place was nicely supported in s variety of art on the walls. Don't let the strip mall look turn you away from the most tasty sub you'll ever have. I always have the veggie or tuna having this place so close to my house it's perfect right after a hike. I love how simple the ingredients are yet very tasty. They have their own "special peppers" which is a nice blend of jalapeño, banana peppers and sweet red peppers all mixed together in its own vinaigrette. Lettuce tomato oil and cheese. Being from the East coast, this place looked like home so I was excited to try it. Sadly I was terribly disappointed. I got a ham sub, which turned out quite pathetic. Had only two thin slices of ham burried under a pile of lettuce. Most odd was this place doesn't carry American cheese ... really guys? And supposedly they have "famous" philly cheese steaks? not without American, velveta or cheese wiz. Apparently they've done no research or even visited a sub shop back East. The philly steaks are good too, but I don't get in here often enough anymore to get anything but the Italian - which is a super good sandwich. Don't change a thing. While the menu is pretty short and sweet, I appreciate the fact that Tommy's doesn't try to over complicate my choices. I can usually get a med/large sub, drink and chip for around $10. Big plus! The ingredients are clearly fresh but when it's loaded up with things you can use/make at home, I wonder "why go out?" It's certainly a step up from Jimmy John's and Subway but is not as good as Stack in Belmar, Curtis Park or Cheba Hut. read more

First visit was before a Red Rocks concert and right after a trip to visit family in PA. For those of you who know from the PA hoagie, this place satisfies the hankering like no place else I've tried in CO. Second visit was after a hike by Fairplay and every bit as delicious. The 6" Club is more than enough food. Definitely get the homemade peppers. They're barely hot and add a lot of flavor. Rolls are toasted but I suspect that they are perfectly delicious untoasted, too. Service is efficient and no-nonsense, in a good way. So instead of being rude to me as a customer, why don't you guys change your hours to the correct time instead?? Don't let the mini-strip mall exterior fool you; this is a great little local sandwich shop. I ordered the 6' Club which included turkey & ham on a toasted roll with lettuce, special peppers, oil, & vinegar (I vetoed the tomatoes & onions). Also added a side of jalapeños, which was generous for 25 cents. The sandwich was the perfect size with a good amount of meat, bread was perfectly toasted (not hard or painful to chew). Fabulous! I have been going here for about 12 years. My friends and I originally fell in love with original owners who would never take shit from any guest and didn't even have a credit card machine. We were hesitant to instantly transfer our love to the new owners, but they quickly won us over keeping everything the same and adding a credit card machine! They now have a bigger location two doors down from their old spot, and they even added a Friday special! I've frequented Tommys over the years and through a couple of ownership changes. There is always ups and downs, I get this, but it's now the third time in the last couple months that I have been very disappointed. My last visit 9-5-23 was especially a cumulation of issues. The person taking orders made me feel like I was inconveniencing her. Then while waiting over 15 minutes for a sandwich, I observed the cook do his job like it was a prison sentence. He moved about as slow as possible and it was obvious he gave zero concern about his job. As one would expect I received my sandwhich and it was a complete mess. I asked that the bread be "gutted" and even though it was, it was gutted all on 1 side, so the sammy had 1 1/2 inch of bread on top and 1/3 inch on the botton. When I received the sammy the cook forgot the Peppers and Sauce and when I asked him for them, he grudgingly remarks that he put them in there, and then comes over to inspect the container for himself. After getting home to eat the sammy, I noticed the portion of steak barely filled the length of the bread it was on, and if there was onions, mushrooms and cheesse on it, one would have never known. All in all to pay 9 bucks for this is robbery and I doubt I will being going back to this place. Even 1 star is over stating my experience with this place. read more

I waited in line at lunch only 6 people in front of me. I got to the counter and ordered the famous Philly Cheesesteak with mushrooms and onions. They also give you a side of marinara? Confused about that one. The side of Peppers I get. Bottom line. Great sandwich. It's got to be the bread that makes this so good. I was really excited about this place after reading the reviews. My wife and I went there tonight. We ordered 2 12" sandwiches and 2 fountain drinks. The total came to over $30 and we left a $6 tip on top of that. We had planned to get one more sandwich to go for our daughter before leaving. I went to the counter to order right at 7 pm and was told "sorry, were closed". I did not realize the place closed at 7. We were the only people there eating and not one employee gave us a heads up about them closing or asked if we needed anything else before closing the register. On top of this the all of the soda was flat. They make a decent sandwich, but for the cost that should come with stellar customer service. This was the worst service I've received in a very long time. We won't be back. read more

Anyone who knows me could tell you I love a good sandwich. Sandwiches could sustain me for the rest of my life and I wouldn't be upset. My problem is that I've had a really tough time finding a non-chain sandwich shop that tasted amazing. The search for the best local sandwich brought be to Tommy's. I was told I had to try this place out and I was told absolutely correct. I've been here at least four times since I've found it (I'd come more if it wasn't so far from me). This place gets the sandwich right. Their menu isn't complicated yet features all of the favorites a true sandwich lover would want. The prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly, and everything seems fresh. I've noticed this place can get pretty busy but they seem able to handle the crowds well. I recommend the club sandwich yet the Philly is quite an experience. True ribeye steak in the Philly. Yum. I want one right now just thinking about it but it's 11:04pm and they are indeed closed. read more

This used to be the best sandwich in all of Colorado. I've been going here since rocks were soft! In the past year and a half it has gone downhill. Every time I go in the sandwiches are mediocre at best. The sandwiches are supposed to be toasted, but never are. They just pull them out of their little toaster too fast. I get it you're busy but why toast it at all if you're not gonna let it toast anyway? I always ask for extra mayo, which used to be the best part, and now I feel like when I ask for it I get less than not asking for extra at all. The sandwich I got today had peppers on only half the sandwich and another was completely wrong. I'm not sure if it's because the owners are getting their Conifer shop going and spending less time at this location or what but the quality the Tommy's has always been is just not there anymore. I keep coming back because I think it was an off day and give them the benefit of the doubt but the last 7-10 times I've been in it's been the same thing, mediocre. I don't want to bash the shop that I've loved forever and the owners are the nicest people but haven't seen them in the shop for awhile. I hope they didn't sell the shop but wish I knew if they did.
