Went back and forth on giving a 4 or a 3 star review here. Have been going here with my family for probably 20 or so years. They've done good by us in the past, but I think it's significantly gone down hill in service. We buy used cars so we're probably their favorite customers. Anyway, I had an issue a while back where one of my items was stolen, or lost, or fell out during one of the maintenance items I was there for. Asked the front desk about it, and they looked around, but ultimately it was never found. So when I come here now, I make sure everything of value is out of my car or securely tucked away in the vehicle. Anyway, the main reason for the drop in stars is that I came here for an oil change...the oil change $54.77 special to be exact. Brought in my mailed coupon as well, only to find that they don't use it cause the oil change is already highly reduced. So that was a bummer. Again, I come here skeptical now, so I took pictures of my wiper fluid and coolant levels before leaving the car with them, since they're supposed to fill the tanks and both were low. 35 or so minutes later the car was ready and I popped the hood before leaving. No fluid had been added so I went back inside and told him. I added in now that I was worried what else had been missed and that I needed to make sure the tires had also been rotated. He said oh yes we'll make sure. He comes back a few minutes later and says they've been topped off and goes, "the wiper fluid wasn't much, maybe 8oz". I'm sorry, but when your website says you top off these fluids, I expect it to be done. 1 ounce or 8 ounces. Then he said that they don't do tire rotations unless we ask. "It's free, but you have to request it." Even though it's stated in the oil change special....... Needless to say, I left very frustrated. read more

I saw on Tommy's website that they had a special for an oil change for $54.77, which included free tire rotation, and multi point health check. At checkout I asked if they offered military discount and was told that instead of military discount they didn't charge for the oil filter. He said the Aviator was a canister type filter, like on European vehicles. I was not told that the Aviator requires a special oil filter when I brought it in. I received an email from Tommy's wanting to know about my experience. I initially thought the service was good but come to find out they did not do the tire rotation because I did not ask for it. I think if its part of their special it shouldh've been done automatically. I question myself if they did the multi point inspection because my car was in there for @15 min. They also did not reset the oil gauge on the dashboard. I ended up paying what the dealer quoted me. Needless to say I'm a bit disappointed. read more

I've been coming here for about a year and it seems like a great mechanic. I don't know a lot about cars so it's hard to say if I was ever overcharged. I will say they always answer calls and have great availability for whichever service I needed. They do discounts during the summer on oil changes. The employees are all very friendly and have great customer service skills. I had to have my tires balanced and didn't quite understand what the issue was so they took me back one time to show me exactly what was wrong and made it all make sense for me. I took my vehicle in for airbag and horn issue. After their inspection, I received a text message report and quotes for the airbag, horn and multiple other items. I approved brake job, horn and airbag repair which were approximately 1,900.00. After receiving my vehicle , I immediately noticed that I could see inside the dashboard above and below the steering wheel. Both openings are so wide, I can place both of my hands inside. I notified the guy at the counter that I paid. He came out and looked at my concern. He went back inside and came back with another guy who identified himself as one of the owners. They examined the steering column and the broken part and told me that he was calling for the part immediately and I could bring the car back so they could repair. This morning , I got a text from the same guy that identified himself as one of the owners telling me they did not damage anything on my car and they never touched the damaged part. Although, this was the area they had to work in to do the repairs. He also advised the part is no longer available for purchase. He also offered me $100 to help resolve the issue. I don't believe a refund would be offered if you truly believe your shop did nothing wrong. This makes me so sad that I had to pay 1,900 for car repairs and now have to take my vehicle somewhere else to pay for something that was damaged during car repairs at Tommy's. The guy also told me because my steering wheel was in the high position, I did not notice the damage before leaving the car with them. How could he possibly know if I do or do not adjust my steering wheel. Fortunately. I absolutely adjust my steering wheel periodically. He also told me he did research and the damage is a failure point on my model car because the piece is very brittle. He also pointed out some existing console and seat damage in my vehicle that I was aware of and this damage is very obvious. Therefore, if my steering column would have had previous damage prior to leaving my car with them, I would have also been aware. I am the original owner of this car and is aware of every physical aspect of it. Additionally, during their physical inspection of my car they took pictures of all interior existing damage and exterior no damage but their is no initial picture of the damage in question that they caused. I asked why would you offer me $100 back from the repairs if you truly believe your shop did not damage my vehicle. He said the offer was to help me in this situation because he could see my stand point on this. He also mentioned that if his mechanic would have damaged something, they would have told him. I am really in shock I have been treated this way and I feel insulted. However, the fact I was offered money back absolutely implies the damage absolutely occurred in Tommy's shop because no one else has access nor drives my vehicle. I have attached photos of the damage and opening. Also note the trim piece does not look as if it belongs to my vehicle. It's very worn and dirty. The other parts of my car are clean. read more

My wife went in last week to get an estimate to get her brakes repaired. As they were very busy, my wife was working to get an appointment. Instead of setting an appointment, they brought her vehicle into the shop and did the repairs in under an hour. I am not only happy with the repair, I am absolutely stunned that they were able to fit her into their busy schedule. Very professional company that I very much recommend. read more

Water pump in my 2018 Camry LE went out so I went to Tommy's to get it fixed. Making an appointment online was painless, and you can turn in your vehicle earlier than scheduled. They also have free shuttle services to wherever you need to go. Took around a few hours to diagnose what the issue was, and was texted a link to accept or decline what you want done with the car. Super fast and easy, and they got right to it after accepting the repair and quote. Took a day or two to fix the car to my surprise, I expected at least a week. Will for sure be coming back for any vehicle issues! Service desk was really friendly and transparent with everything. read more

A few months ago, I had some work done. Picked up my car and the driver side door was heavy/hard to close! Its apparent that it had been leaned to far back on or it was swung open. I called Tommys the next day.. I got the run around! Its sad because I really enjoyed Tommys and had them only, work on my last two vehicles. It created a distrust in me for them that I havent been able to shake back from. Not enough accountability these days. I still have the vehicle and the driver side door is still heavy/hard to close! Scam Artists. Don't Go Here. I'm a broke college student barely making ends meet and when I brought my car in for a diagnostic check, they told me to fix a few things it would be 1500$. I said no, bought the parts and did it myself for only 140$ in a couple hours. Are you seriously telling me an hour or two of your labor to swap out a sensor or two is worth a 1400 dollar upcharge? And the big kicker: They lied to me the whole time and didn't tell me all the codes on my car, I had to buy a scanner myself and read my car to see what my REAL problem was. They were ready to take 1500$ to really fix nothing on my car. Horrible thieves. read more

I wanted to use this place because it is close and they seemed nice. But, they way overcharged me for replacing my alternator. The part sells retail for about $260. They charged me almost $1000. That's a lot for labor on something that takes maybe an hour for a good mechanic. If they would have charged me fairly I would have been a loyal customer for years. They told me that I needed a whole new engine and quoted me $25,000 for a 10,000 car... over my dead body. They said I "ran it hot" too much when I had made a point not to drive it because I knew that overheating could cause irreversible damage to the engine. They attempted to take advantage of me and took my grandpa & I for fools. All I needed was a new radiator, Mass Air Flow Sensor, and a new A/c condenser. I took my car in for oil change and after waiting 2 hours they returned my car with problems I didn't have before and refused to fix anything unless I pay $129 diagnostic fee. They did something to my oil pressure sensors, broke two tire valves creating 2 flat tires and my tpms system has a problem. All of these issues were not there until I let them touch my car .I gave them the chance to make it right but was treated very bad and disrespectful. They are crooks!! I went to Tommy's to get my car's electrical system inspected. It had a problem where it would discharge the battery in just a day or two, so I strongly suspected a short in the wiring. Tommy's charged me $500, and found nothing, and did nothing. Simply cheated me out of $500. I think it is a very dishonest business. I would never go there again. Tommy's claims that they're just stupid, not dishonest. Either way, I have the same problem but not the same money. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!! Yes, they do cheap work, but let me just say, you get what you pay for. Took my wife's car here to get new brakes, rotors and pads. Got them installed and immediately these they were grinding terribly to the point that it was embarrassing to stop at a stop light. Took the car back to Tommy's after giving the brakes ample time to "break in", in hopes that the grinding would subside. They look at the breaks and tell me everything looked good, but they sprayed some anit-squeal on them to help with the grinding. Grinding does not stop after another month, so I take it back in and have to argue with them to fix the new brakes I paid for. They end up completely replacing the brakes again and issue is resolved, but it took me having to argue with them to get it done correctly. Obviously, they were either not installed properly to begin with, or they used the cheapest possible parts they could find. Regardless, they corrected the issue and I was ok with that. Fast forward a month later, take my wife's car in for a simple oil change and tire rotation. My wife accidentally declines the tire rotation because she thought it was a separate service and not included with the oil change. No big deal, I say just call them and I am sure they will let you bring it back by and rotate the tires, which takes probably 10 minutes for them. They tell my wife no, that they are booked solid. I go online to book an appointment, and of course, they have availability, so I book a 30 min slot and call them back to let them know I am bringing it back for the rotation because according to their online appointment system they have availability. He then tells me that " Oh, that system doesn't work", and that if I do bring it up there, they can do it, but it will take hours because they would have to find a lift for the car. I say fine, we will be there at our appointment time and hang up. Immediately, I get a call from who I am assuming was a manager of some kind. He proceeds to tell me that they will not rotate the tires due to a "safety hazard" of wear on the inside of the tires, which yes, there is wear on the inside of the tires, but not to anywhere near the point that it was a safety hazard. Complete lack of customer service and straight up lies. I was ok with having to wait a little bit while you squeezed us in to do a job that we already paid for, but when you call me back and make stuff up, just to avoid doing your job, that is another story. Complete loss of respect for this business. We gave you another chance after you messed up our brakes and tried to get out of correcting that issue. It took me completely arguing with your staff and bringing the issue back to you two times for you to finally correct the issue, but now you can't even rotate our tires, which would take ten minutes, and it was included in the service that we paid for already, but my wife mistakenly declined. Not a good look Tommy's. Not at all. We will definitely not be going back here after. I advise everyone else to be careful when dealing with this place as well. They may be reasonably priced, but you get what you pay for indeed. They may get the work done, but when you have to take it back several times before it is done right, that right there tells you why they are so cheap. Then on top of that they like to lie to there customers, and that, I cannot deal with. Tommy's High Tech is a really great scam. They have exceptional customer service on the phone, yet when you walk in the door, the majority of the staff won't even bother to greet you for fear of having to actually do some work. They are great at marketing, and send many mailers out, and love to email you about your car to ensure to stay at the forefront of your memory. Unfortunately, the "customer service" is no deeper than courtesy. They will outright rob you blind in "Diagnostic Fees" and claim that at other garages, those fees are simply "wrapped into the final repair cost". Utter B*llsh*t. Call around, get several estimates over the phone and internet, and you'll see that this is a completely false claim. For example, after leaving AutoZone and receiving the codes for my vehicle, Tommy's charged me $200 to tell me the exact same code information and that their "diagnostic check" found the problem with my front wheel was that it was "out of round". When I paid the hostage fee to receive my car back and take it to a reputable garage (Daves Foreign Auto Repair where they don't charge BS diagnostic fees), the "real" mechanics found that my front right strut was detached. Great Work and spectacularly thorough "Diagnostic" check. Well worth the 200 right? Don't trust them. They are like televangelists. The put up a great front, and make lots of money from the parents of college students, and from the people that can least afford to pay excessive fees. STAY AWAY. read more

This place is like an upscale grocery store - they'll try to convince you it's worth spending more money but it's just not. I have gone to Tommy's for years to service multiple vehicles. I was originally drawn to them for their work in the community. In previous experiences, I received adequate communication about the work being done on my car, I felt respected, and most importantly I felt I was receiving good value for money. My experience this week was not in alignment with previous experiences, and unfortunately I will not be returning in the future. After receiving what I thought was a bit high of a quote for the work that needed to be done, I called a few other shops and confirmed that the recommended repairs should not cost that much. Be warned, you will have to pay ~$120 just to get your car diagnosed - and you pay it whether or not you get it serviced there. They claim to use high quality products and provide warranties for their services, but at the end of the day I felt like I was being taken advantage of. Their manager was polite when I tried to discuss it with him over the phone after the fact, but made no effort to remedy the issue. I took my car somewhere else and they made the necessary repairs at a little over a third of the cost ($170 vs $444 - not including the cost to diagnose). Too bad I won't get my $120 back for the diagnosis. I called multiple shops who confirmed they would not charge for a diagnosis, let alone $120. Tommy's staff indicated that if a shop makes this claim, they inevitably incorporate it into the cost of the overall labor, but the shop that I went with charged less all around. Tommy's also tried to charge me extra for basic things like resetting my check engine light and cleaning our parts they replaced, which again, are services that the shop I went to instead insisted should be considered part of the job and not and extra task that required extra charges. I also had a friend who used to take their cars to Tommy's but stopped after similar experiences of being quoted exorbitantly high costs for repairs. read more

This was the worst mechanic experience I have ever had. They tried to force $2500 of unnecessary repairs onto me. When they handed me my key they accused me of being an irresponsible car owner because I wouldn't fix my car. Yet when I went to my car they had left it unlocked for who knows how long. A week later I drove my car 4 hours to take it to my mechanic that I trusted- he told me everything that was suggested was pointless, they didn't reconnect my battery properly so they may have fried it AND they used a crappy rebuilt part. I have told everyone that I know to NEVER go to this shop, they're only goal is to guilt you into "fixing" your car so they can make a massive profit. Usually, they provide some value-added suggestions for services that are recommended, but I never feel pressured and always appreciate the suggestion. I have had both my 2002 Dakota and my 1962 VW bug in there recently in the past few weeks for maintenance and they fixed my brake problem on my truck and went over and beyond to bring it home to me so I didn't have to make another trip to pick it up. I have been coming to Tommy's since about 2011 and so I am a long time customer. They always call ahead and tell me ahead what is recommended to fix on my vehicle with their inspection. They gave me a ride home while they serviced my car, and I returned later to pick it up. Very fast service, polite technicians.
