Been a fan for years but the last two pizzas have a different tasting and chew crust. No longer crunchy and good tasting so must be using a cheaper flour for the crust. Will make one more attempt and if not the old reliable will move on to another company. read more

Best Pizza in Cedar Rapids. Detroit crust is perfect and you will not find better. The wait can be long as it is a smaller place but take out is available if you can't wait. read more

To the person who comapred them to Papa Johns, I'm calling B.S. Why? You stated you haven't been here in 25 years. They were not open 25 years ago! I worked there in 1998 on C.P.R., and Tom opened just a few years before that in his first location, across from what was the 32nd St Hy Vee, the old one that's torn down that had Kiecks below it. Now that we have that established... The crusts used at Tomasos are correct for each city. So many places serve fake Chicago pizza thinking it's just thick bread. Wrong. Tomasos uses correct cornmeal crust. The meat is quality and supplied locally. The toppings are fresh and not cheapo, and the sauce is quality as well. This is why you pay $25 for a pizza. If you want crap, go pay $11 at some big name garbage franchise. It amazes me how ignorant some people are when it comes to food and value. You can go to Burger King and get your $4 burger if you're in the mood, or you can sit down at a reputable restaurant and pay $9 for something handmade and special. Tomasos is the same. You are paying for a quality product. read more

$60 for two large(?) pizzas. Wow! What a rip off! If you want to throw your money away this would be the easiest place to do it. If we went to Papa John's, we could've got 4 REAL large pizzas that were way better for $60. I hadn't purchased from Tomaso's in 25+ years, now I remember why. They suck! What a racket, how do they stay in business? read more

Great deep dish Detroit crust! One of my favorite places to get pizza in Cedar Rapids. Wish they delivered at night tho

I don't think I could survive if this place was not in existence. I for sure have to get my fix at least once a month. One of the best Detroit Deep Dish pizzas I've ever experienced. The best part is the caramelized cheese on the crust. Always fresh toppings and pizza is piping hot weather it's carry out or dine in. The wings are pretty good and I typically don't do wings. The dining area is very cozy and relaxed. Great place for the family or just a fun time with a group of friends. read more

New York or Detroit is very memorable. Good ingredients and great atmosphere. I like to be punched in the face by aroma when entering a pizza place, and this place will do just that. Very good beers on tap as well. read more

Our pizza was so good, and the staff at the counter were friendly and efficient. We don't live in Cedar Rapids but will recommend to our family here and definitely will be back when we visit! read more

I was looking for a good pizza place and found Tomaso. I was glad I had a $3 coupon it is a bit pricey but I think the pizza is very Good. We ordered a small Chicago crust ..mombo combo, and wings. Well they should just stick to pizza . My wings were terrible and some were burnt. I will maybe try again but stick to pizza. I like the music they played and I agree for a nice place they should at least have better plates. read more

Small shop. Excellent pizza. Choice of thick (Chicago), thin (NY), or medium (Detroit) crust. I had Detroit with meat and it was very good. Crunchy crust with great flavor, and perfect amount of cheese and sauce. Meats were not too spicy or fatty. Really enjoyed it and recommend it if you want pizza in Cedar Rapids. read more

We got pizza here based on the reviews I read. We purchased a Detroit style thick crust and an xtra-thin New York style. Of my four children, only 1 of them would even eat more than two bites. My wife and I ate it, but were expecting much better for the price. The crusts were excellent, but sauce was terrible. If you like a super sweet pizza sauce, then you may like this. We much prefer something with more spice and better flavor. It was a disappointment. read more

I really like this place. Yes it is more expensive than the "papa Johns" but it's also better. I am 100% all aboard the Detroit crust train. Oh man, that crunchy goodness is soooo....... Sorry I am back, just called in my order to Tomasos. I haven't really tried too many things on the menu, I mean, if I want wings I will go to a wings place. But the pepperoni Detroit crust keeps us coming back for more! Only top pizza list it's right behind Lou's from Chicago. Service is usually pretty good. Only 1 time there was an problem that was really to be noted. They had to re-do the pizza which took a looooooong time. Sadly they didn't offer to make it right in any way. But when it's ran by a bunch of high schoolers errors are bound to happen read more

I was in the mood for a good New York style pizza last night. My wife ordered a large pepperoni and sausage pizza for take out from Tomaso's last night. Big mistake. We opened up the box, and they had cut the pizza into little 3 inch squares. NY pizza is supposed to be eaten by taking a large slice, and folding it. Folding this pizza would have been impossible even if it was cut right. The crust was not a thin crust, but more like a cracker crust, no chew at all. The sausage was bland, the pepperoni was good, but very sparse. And the cheese, well I couldn't even tell if they put any cheese on this pizza. I normally hate wasting food, but we ended up tossing most of this pizza out. read more

If you are in the mood for pizza, and really good pizza at that, then this is the place for you. They have consistently served excellent pizza in this location for years. Always my go-to pizza place. Just wish they would deliver, but it is worth the drive for me to go pick it up. read more

Pizza was ok. For some reason they didn't bother to cut it which makes it really hard to eat in my hotel room.

I have been to the Edgewood Road location quite a few times before they changed their name so I knew what to expect coming in to this joint. The place was a bit shabby but not gross. Smoky, aged and rough but well loved. Simple decor, not trendy or overly hip. You order at the counter, grab drinks, and have seat. They'll let ya know when it's ready and maybe bring it out if they're not busy. This is more like a big city restaurant model than the full service dining experience. The menu is fine an the portions are solid. This is dense, filling pizza. My pie came out pretty undercooked, but I brought it back up and they popped it back in the oven for a few. My girlfriend didn't dig the ash-can environment but she liked the pizza. I would come back here for sure, but I might be more inclined to carry out and that's a bit of a shame. read more

Heaven on earth? Best pizza in the world ever. This location especially rocks. My last meal will be a New York Mambo Combo.

The place that introduced me to the best of all possible pizzas: Detroit style. Love this place. Crusts are awesome (but get Detroit) and the toppings always seemed fresh and top notch. May be my favorite pizza place on the planet, and definitely at least top three. read more

I generally don't do this but I was crazy disappointed with their Chicago deep dish. I know I'm not in Chicago but when you pay $13 for a small pizza you expect something half decent. There was maybe an ounce of sauce on half the pizza, 5 slices of pepperoni and I get more cheese on garlic bread from most places. This place was raved about by people I know but for me EPIC fail! read more

Did some idiot below really compare this to papa johns prices (cough cough Steve). Tomasos has great pizza. Everything tastes really fresh and I consistently have great pizza here. Yes it's pricy. It's not a late night drunk college kid pit stop like that Dominos is that you regret in the morning. If you want some of the best thin crust pizza in CR, check these guys out. read more

When you want a great pizza this is the place to go. They have three crust styles that all rock and they use quality toppings. No greasy pies here. This is not the cheapest pizza around, but quality has its price. The staff at Tomaso's is always upbeat and quick to serve. If you vote for quality versus quantity with your pizza dollar this is the place to go, with a humble nod towards Zoeys in Marion as well. read more

I'm always surprised at how expensive GREAT pizza is. Never disappointing. All of their crust selections are amazing! Fast service.

Awful..My husband stopped in and ordered a large thin crust and had 2 beers while waiting. The total was over $32. The pizza was not very large and had no flavor aside from a overwhelming garlic taste. The crust was burnt. Since it was later at night I waited until the next day to message them about their "free if not the best" policy. I waited over a week and messaged again. They said my message wasn't received and it was too late. But they would make a pizza for us at no charge. We declined. Horrible pizza and false policy advertising. Never again and we will alert others read more

Their thin crust pizza was was quite good, and I guess their Detroit style pizza is meant to be their best so if that's the case I look forward to trying it just based just how good my thing crust was. I also look for a great thin crust pizza and this is a good choice. read more

We've been coming to this location on and off for the last three to four years. It wasn't until the last visit that I realized how over-priced they are. We ordered a large pizza and a pitcher of beer. The total was well over $50. I've been to similar pizzerias where there are servers that actually service tables, and have left (with tip) for less. Now, this isn't a negative review on their food quality, (this location) but on their exorbitant pricing. They've somehow justified to themselves that their dining experience is worth the hike in pricing. Well, it isn't. In a nutshell; their food is good. Their pricing structure is gouging. I, personally, will opt for other pizza alternatives in the future. read more

Disappointed...not what it used to be. We hadn't visited in maybe 2 years. Ordered a large Detroit Mombo Combo, a past favorite. To say the toppings were skimpy is being generous. Half the pieces of pizza had none or one piece of sausage, green pepper or onion. The Detroit crust is still amazing but $25 for what was basically bread is ridiculous. Perhaps we hit on a bad night so I will try one more time before writing this place off. read more

The taco pizza that we purchased was the most expensive taco pizza I've ever had and the worst I've ever tasted. I'm not one to complain but this was horrible. Once my boyfriend had said what he thought about it he stole the words right on my mouth. It tasted like a breadstick with some lettuce sprinkled on top. I was so just fast I said something to the front desk people cuz there was no taco sauce there was no refried beans on it. I couldn't understand how they could charge so much that had some cheese on it with very little meat, I I wouldn't have known there was meat on the pizza unless I lifted up the cheese and looked for some it was definitely not by taste. And a few onions mixed in it and a few tomatoes and that was it. The taco chips and lettuce for sparing on the top. When I expressed my concern at the front desk they just brushed me off. When I left I even went home and looked at the menu because I couldn't get over that just maybe they left something off on accident. $30 for a pizza it was the biggest joke. And I had read some reviews that pretty much implied the same thing read more

If you're from the East Coast you would view this pizza as a round Sicilian pizza - funny thing is when I lived in the East I was never a fan of Sicilian pizza. I am strictly a New York style or Neapolitan style pizza fan. This pizza is hands-down the best Sicilian style pizza I have ever had. I used to go for the Chicago deep dish but a friend had me try the Detroit. I have been a fan ever since. I always use the granulated garlic and ask for extra sauce. The crust is never soggy or burned even though it is a bit on the thick side......... now if they could only master a true New York style I would be in pizza heaven...... oddly no one(and sadly) has come close to it. read more

Best pizza in Cedar Rapids! It's a little more expensive, but that's because it's so high quality. Detroit style is my favorite (sort of like a Chicago deep dish, but less deep and with very crispy edges), but their Chicago deep dish and thin crust are also excellent. read more

This was my first time trying their pizza. I ordered the Detroit deep dish with sausage, mushroom and extra cheese. What I got was very expensive crust covered with a tasty sauce. Ingredients were few and not much cheese considering I ordered "extra". In general, not even close to worth the price. read more

Great Detroit style pizza one of the best pizza's in the city. We are usually thin crust fans but their crispy cheese crust on the Detroit is hard to beat. There are so many pizza chains serving bad pizza, when for very little more money you can get one of these, it just makes no sense to me. Their garden pizza is the one we like the best, either thin or Detroit it's a meal. read more

Tomaso's is definitely the best pizza in town. Their Mongo Combo special is to die for - and I'm usually just a die-hard Pepperoni or Cheese Pizza eater. I would absolutely recommend the pizza here. read more

So I'm in Cedar for two weeks on business and I've had a chance to try many restaurants in the area. I tried Tomaso's this past Friday. Walked in, ordered a pie to go, and had a beer. So there's a good vibe in here- young kids (mostly) working the line: all very friendly and courteous. The pizza: make sure if you don't have a cutter at home that you have them slice it up. Got the pie back to my hotel and scarfed it down- really good pizza. Not my absolute favorite style, but very good. The sauce was perfect as was the cheese to sauce ratio and quality of toppings. The crust wasn't superb, but I'm pretty picky with crust (what can I say, I worked at a family-owned pizzeria all through high school.) The big drawback (and I almost gave them 3 stars for this) is the price. Holy crap! Really expensive. Almost 25 bucks for a medium pizza... yikes. They are pretty proud of these pies. I'd go back, but probably not as often due to the cost. read more

I came into the business with a coupon from One Loyalty Network for $7.50 off any order and they refused to honor it. It was their coupon. They lost my business because of it. Poor customer relations. read more

Best pizza in Cedar Rapids, hands down! If you are a fan of pizza, you have to try the Detroit crust pizza. Beer is a little pricey. A little more seating would be nice as well. read more

This is the best pizza in Cedar Rapids. While all the crust styles are good, the Detroit style is amazing. The crispy cheese on the ends by the crust are the tastiest part. While the prices are a little more than your "average" pizza joint, this pizza is definitely NOT average, and totally worth the difference. Great pizza!!! read more

You have to try a 'Sara Special' at Tomaso's on Center Point Rd in CR. Ain't no better pizza in CR - JJ

Tomaso's is easily right up there with the BEST pizza places in town. Their Detroit crust is perhaps the most unique, and it's always delightful. I've never had a complaint by dining in, but their takeout is also efficient and never disappoints to taste splendidly. read more

This isn't about the food but it is about the service. I've never been a customer and live in Spokane Washington. I called this location to speak with a manager to verify employment. I spoke with a gentleman named Eric, who told me that my applicant had never worked at this location. Usually that's the end of the conversation but Eric went above and beyond and provided me with the phone numbers of the other locations. Thank you Eric for superior customer service! read more

This place was delicious, the wait wasn't too long and the portions were nice! Honestly we were going to go to a different pizza place but the wait was way too long so we chose Tomaso's. So glad we did!! My friend & I got a medium Hawaiian Ham & Pineapple on the Detroit Deep Dish. My boyfriend and his friend got basically all the meats on also a Detroit Deep Dish. Both pizzas were mediums. My friend and I have two and a half slices left which we are excited to reheat tomorrow. My boyfriend and his friend finished their whole pizza but they both felt like they got plenty to eat. My boyfriend is a big strong (handsome) man. For him to feel full off just a half of a medium is great! The staff was friendly, the pizzas didn't take long and that's surprising with the line of people waiting! The only reason I'm not giving them five stars is because it's a little pricy, but it was so worth it! I will go there again for sure the next time I'm in town! read more
