I love their family-run business, their crust reminds me of Casey's without all the greasy cheese, their garlic bread sticks might look like severed Mongoloid fingers but they are a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Long wait time, made the order incorrectly, rude customer service, treated condescendingly when we called about it, and were forced to go back to return it. Heard them yelling at each other (about us) in the kitchen while waiting for the remake, despite asking a refund instead. My brother ordered for his dinner, but is allergic to the excessive onions they added, despite telling them ahead. I tagged along for support, as he has some health issues and is not always able to speak up for himself. Not worth the trouble, the visit back, and definitely not worth the price ($25 +fees for just a medium pizza). So freaking tasty! -The service from the two lady's that helped us (one younger lady over the phone , one older lady in person) was above and beyond. They took the time to explain everything to us. Don't judge a restaurant by its exterior! We drove by Pizza plus frequently and always joked that it looked "sketchy." We decided to try it for the heck of it as we have tried every other pizza place in NL. Let me tell you they had great pizza and the breadsticks are to die for! The pizza had a nice slightly crispy crust with the perfect amount of sauce, toppings, and cheese. As is said the breadsticks were amazing - light, fluffy, and tossed in a warm butter! The pizza was fine if unremarkable - like a 6.6/10. The cheese and sausage were good, the crust was not. With all the glimmering breadstick reviews, I had to try...they were okay, but came swimming in a pool of melted butter, which for some might be a nice feature. Pizza Plus is celebrating it's 25th anniversary in North Liberty this year, and, the reasons are obvious! After a long week, I love nothing more than ordering up one of their traditional pies with black olives, red onion, and Italian sausage along with some of their yummy garlic bread. If you're looking for take-out pizza that's not one of the name brands you're familiar, with, it's so worth branching out to try this place. I ordered a deep dish, and the crust was still very thin. The cook told me she "baked it in the deep pan, it must have not risen. But we don't charge for the thickness so...sorry." She basically told me that it was pizza so I should just be satisfied. To top it all off, the pizza itself was floppy, greasy, and gross. The breadsticks were dripping with oil, and the sauce was cold. The blue cheese dipping sauce for the breadsticks is just a package of blue cheese dressing that they threw inside the pizza box. When we called back to let them know, they pretty much told us to go away and almost hung up on my girlfriend when she was trying to explain. We will NOT be back. P.S. This is a really nice small town pizza place that has been around for 25 years. The food is great, but portions leave a little to be desired. Soda comes in cans, the "family" sized spaghetti is more like a "spaghetti for 2" and the chicken wings come plain with the sauce on the side and it's only enough sauce for half of the wings at best. Good pizza reminds me of other Mom and Pop pizza parlors in every Midwest city. Pricing is good, and pizzas are made super quick for carry out. I've walked in before ordered my pizza and a soda, by the time I was half finished with my drink the pizza was done. My only complaint is that they have weird hours for a pizza place, I don't think I've ever seen them open past 9. I love that they offer a multitude of fresh veggies and they add an ample amount of toppings unlike some of the chains in the area. I have ordered delivery from Pizza Plus for 20+ years. Such great delivery people. Well packaged and hot. Personally my favorite menu item is the spaghetti, so much that I have not tried the pizza. If it were my last meal I would order spaghetti. So, recently I ordered spaghetti and a pizza for a friend. This man knows pizza. I've never once heard him say this but he said, "OMG! I had lived in North Liberty for about a year and had yet to give this place a try until a couple weeks ago. The pizza was pretty good, but definitely not worth the price. After delivery it was almost 50 dollars for two larges. I realize that quality pizza is often much more expensive, but I have had much better pizza in the Iowa City area for less money. I remember wondering to myself how a place like this survives with no official website and such expensive prices, but I concluded it was most likely because there are no other "non-chain" pizza places in North Liberty, so they can get away with charging too much because people don't have other choices. Don't get me wrong, the pizza was pretty solid and definitely a couple steps above any chain pizza, probably the best Pizza in North Liberty right now. However, if another quality pizza joint opened up (like a Wig and Penn or Sams) and sold better or as good of pizza at a lower price, this place would be in trouble. Stopped Saturday for lunch. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The guy acted like he actually liked his job and wanted to be there - you never see that anymore. The dinner area was spotless to the point of having a faint bleach smell. But the aroma from the kitchen was too powerful for the smell of the bleach. We ordered Mozzarella sticks and they were perfect. Hot, but not exploded. The pizza is a thin crust which we like. The sauce is savory which we like. We had Italian Sausage, bacon and onions. My only tiniest remark would be that the sausage while it had great flavor was obviously a purchased product (on the small side.) We WILL be back. read more
